The underbite is enough to sell me, personally, but in case you're wondering, Arthur has got one heck of a personality too! This little guy weighs in at only six pounds, but he's full of spunk. He loves walks, meeting new people, and hopping in laps! Bonus- Arthur gives kisses! Have you ever been kissed by an underbite? He’s a big boy (almost 80 pounds!), so when he leans in to you for pets, there’s a chance you’ll topple over lol. Big Red is a chill guy but he does like his squeaky toys! He pounces on them and chews on them and well... it’s basically the cutest thing ever! This guy is puppy cute without all the puppy crazy! Big Red did well during his dog eval. He had some social interactions but mostly kept to himself. If your dog at home needs a mellow buddy, bring them in so we can see if they are a match with Big Red! Meet Buddy! This handsome fella is full of fun and energy! He loves to run and play, and fetch is his favorite game! Buddy actually had surgery back in October for a fractured leg; the area has healed, but he does still have some lameness with that leg and probably always will. It doesn't stop him from getting around AT ALL, though! Buddy spent time in foster while he recovered from his surgery, so we know a bit more about him than we sometimes do with the other shelter dogs. For starters, his foster mom says Buddy gets along with other dogs of all sizes. He loves to play and can keep up with the other dogs despite his leg. Buddy LOVES people and is super friendly and outgoing, but he is a young dog and can tend to be a bit "mouthy" at times. Because of this, we recommend older children only for Buddy's new home. And oh yeah- did I mention he has a hint of an underbite? This handsome dude was lookin' like Elvis for his pictures and got me ALLLL shook up! ;-) If your family sounds like a good fit for this amazing dog, come visit him at the MCAC West shelter, 2500 S. 27th Ave., Phx. I'm so bummed to say that one of my favorite shelter dogs, EVER needs a new home. Chloe was adopted a few months ago, but her adopter doesn't feel she has adequate time to give to Chloe and has surrendered her back to the shelter. The positive thing about this, is that we now know how Chloe is in a home setting (hint: she's awesome!). Chloe is a total sweetheart and a mostly mellow gal. She's happy to lounge most of the day, but is also up for a little adventure with you, if you like! Mr. Chubby Checker looooves those treats and is happy to show off his "sit" trick for a treat (or five)! Food isn't the only thing Chubby Checker loves though. He's a super happy, friendly guy who is always up for meeting a new friend! Chubby loves pets and belly rubs and wants nothing more than to hang out and eat snacks with his pals! :-) Chubby has a mellow energy overall, but still plenty of spunk to do something a little active. Chubby walks nicely on the leash overall and would love to go exploring with you! Chubby was stiff with his greetings during his eval, so a dog intro is required prior to adopting. Duffy's "Adopt Me" eyes got me feeling all emotional over here! You can tell this is one LOYAL dog. Duffy is a fav of one of the staff members, and she had him out in the yard the other day. She said when Duffy first came to the shelter, he wasn't feeling so hot and she covered him all up in blankies. The next week when he was feeling better, he was dancing all around his kennel when he saw her and she didn't recognize him at first. Say hello to Dulce! Yes, she is just as sweet as her name implies (dulce is candy in Spanish)... but she's ALSO spunky & silly! Dulce loves to run around the play yard and show off her zoomies. She's up for something active, if you are! After getting some energy out, Dulce is happy to chill out with her chew bone for a little "me time". Overall, Dulce is a very outgoing gal who is happy to meet new people and get lots of pets and attention! Dulce knows "sit" for a treat already, and would love to learn more in her forever home. She did well with her dog eval overall, so bring your dog from home in and we can help everyone meet. How handsome is this guy?! Meet Hunter! I didn’t even want to put a bandana on this guy, because he is just SO naturally stunning and sleek! Can you believe he’s been here since October?! Hunter is a friendly guy right off the bat. He comes when called and is happy to lean into you for pets and lovin’. Hunter has a great moderate energy. He’s up for something active, but isn’t spazzy hyper. Hunter also loves walks, chew bones, and showing off his “sit” and “paw” tricks! Hunter did ok with his dog eval. His notes say he was "dominant" with his greetings but did take correction well from the handler. Bring your dog from home in and we can help make sure everyone gets along! Shy Okra is the West shelter's longest cat resident currently; she's been at the shelter over a month. A month may not sound like a long time in your own life, but when you're sitting in a kennel just waiting... 30 days is a long time! I'm not really sure why Okra hasn't been adopted yet. She is shy at first, but warmed up quick with us, and was enjoying pets and being held. She has the most beautiful huge eyes and looooong whiskers! Okra is only six pounds, but she's full grown at two years old. Kitty cute without the kitty crazy! ;-) It's definitely time this beautiful cat finds a home- come visit her at the MCAC West shelter in Phx (2500 S. 27th Ave.)! Meet Olivia! Olivia is a happy, exuberant dog with “Let’s GO!” written all over her! Right out the gate, Olivia is full steam ahead. She loves to run around the play yard, then hop over to you for lots of pets and scratchies. Olivia is a very affectionate dog and loves to meet new people. She is all about having a fun adventure and ready for whatever you want to do! Basically, she’s your new BFF. 💜 Olivia is strong on leash, but she’s a smart lady and willing to work on her leash skills. She already knows “sit” for a treat, and would love to learn more. Olivia was avoidant/defensive when other dogs approached her during her eval. She didn’t escalate beyond being defensive. If you have a dog at home that would give Olivia her space until she gets used to them, bring them in for an intro. One year old Olivia is ready to get started on life outside of the shelter! How CUTE is this little guy!? I fell in love with Papa as soon as I met him. He's a little shy, and wants nothing more than to cuddle up with you. If you lean down, he practically hops right in to your arms, and loves to be carried everywhere. Papa walks well on the leash too, if you want to take a little stroll around the block. Papa spends his day at the shelter looking for a family, but is lucky enough to go home on foster with one of the staff members. Because of this, we know a lot more about Papa than we usually do with the dogs at the shelter. Papa gets along with dogs of all sizes, is crate trained and loves to sleep under the covers with his person. If you're not a "dog in the bed" kind of person, Papa is happy to snooze on a fluffy dog bed under some blankies. BONUS- Papa does what is called a "submissive smile" When he's super happy, his little lips curl up and he smiles for you! It's soooo cute! Say hello to Rocky! Rocky is big dude (80 pounds!) but so sweet, and pretty gentle overall. Rocky hasn't had much stability in his 2 yr life so far- his microchip traces back to several different families, each who said they re-homed him. 😞 Rocky is ready for his final and forever home in 2019! Rocky is a fun guy who is up for a little activity. He enjoys walks and chasing the ball (but not bringing it back haha). Inside, he is a chill dude and very affectionate! He was a little nervous in the photo room, but warmed up with encouragement. Mostly though, he just wanted to be right next to me and would lean in to me for pets. Rocky knows "sit" and "paw" already for a treat and is a smart guy who would love to learn more. Rocky's former family said he did well with children. **This is a courtesy listing for BB's Honor Rescue** SANDY! She truly makes us swoon! There's not a sweeter dog out there. Sandy is loyal and loving and will absolutely melt you with her big ol' moon eyes...eyes that she has only for YOU! Seriously, Sandy likes to follow you around as if you're the only thing in her world. Like to cuddle and hug? Sandy is a PRO at that! Sandy is the perfect mellow companion and all she asks is to be with you. She walks great on the leash and is a gentle, chill dog overall. Sandy is currently with BB's Honor Rescue after almost three months at the Maricopa County shelter. She has had kennel mates while at the shelter that she did well with. If you have a dog at home already, the rescue can help you with a meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along. BB's Honor is seeking a foster or adoptive home for Sandy. Meet Seinfield! Seinfield is a shy guy who is overwhelmed at the shelter and could really use a foster or forever home. When you walk up to Seinfield's kennel, he runs outside and hides. Obviously, that makes it hard for potential adopters to connect with him, or even notice him at all. If you come in with treats and have a little patience, Seinfield will let you leash him up and walk with you. This poor guy just needs a little time and encouragement. In the yard with another dog, Seinfield started off very nervous and shy, with his tail tucked. He was in the yard with a wonderful "helper" dog who showed him that things aren't so scary after all! Within about 10 minutes, Seinfield was walking around with his tail up, sniffing side by side with the other dog. He really gained confidence from this other dog, and even did a few play prances at her! Seinfield would love another dog in his new foster or forever home to help show him how to be more social and less scared. Seinfield is nervous, but allows all handling. He lets you pet him and leash him up, and doesn't appear to be "nippy" at all, despite his nervousness. That said, I wouldn't recommend young children for him at this time, due to his fearfulness. If Seinfield sounds like a dog you want to help, visit him with your dog at the MCAC West shelter, 2500 S. 27th Ave., Phx. Hours are 11-6 Mon-Fri and 11-5 Sat & Sun. Meet Tiki! Tiki was surrendered along with another cat. Her former family says she likes dogs and people of all ages, including kids! Tiki is a very sweet gal and within a minute of meeting us, she was purring up a storm. Tiki enjoys being held and even let us flip her over like a cat-baby! Tiki is a more mature lady at 6 years old, so she's still a great age without all that kitten fuss. Although Tiki came in with another cat, staff said she seems like she would prefer to be the only cat in her new home. You may have noticed Tiki's nose- it's nothing contagious, or serious, but it does look unique and we think that's what's been preventing Tiki from getting adopted so far. :-( Personally, I think it makes her look like the cutest little owl-cat!
