About Abby

In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has developed the new Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. THESE ANIMALS ARE NOT LOCATED IN ANY OF THE SOCIETY'S PHYSICAL SHELTER LOCATIONS. PLEASE REFER TO THE CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE PROFILE BELOW TO INQUIRE ABOUT ADOPTING.

Abby is a very loving, kind, cat. She's been bonded to Jack (domestic shorthair cat) for the last six years. She's also been around dogs and does very well. She usually leaves dogs alone but does like to play with them sometimes. Abby does well around adults (owners and others visiting) as well as kids. Abby loves blankets and snuggling. She is a lap cat and in the evening will enjoy sitting near you or on your lap if you let her. She purrs and sounds like an owl. She's fun and funny and a very quiet, calm cat. Abby does not, nor has she, had any major health issues and is not, nor has she ever, taken any medication. Abby eats any food. Currently she has a little wet food in the mornings and dry food in the evening. Abby comes when she is called and is litter box trained. She's never had an accident outside the litter box. Abby (and her best friend Jack) are seeking a new home because we are moving to another state and can not take them with us. We would love to take them with us and we tried but, for financial reasons, we will be staying with family when we move. Two of the family members we are staying with have severe allergies to cats.

The Anti-Cruelty Society makes no claims regarding the people using this service or the animals presented here. This is solely a platform for people attempting to re-home animal(s) in their care. We do not vouch for the honesty or accuracy of the statements made by either party in these transactions and cannot guarantee either the health or temperament of these animals. We encourage all parties to use caution and common sense when meeting people you do not know. This service can be a valuable opportunity to keep animals out of shelters and transition them into new homes with a minimum of stress, if used wisely. We would appreciate any feedback you wish to provide about your experience using this program, in order to improve it success. Comments or questions can be sent to education[at]
