Charlie is a super affectionate sweetheart marshmallow of a 10 month old bully mix. He was rescued from the Devore shelter. He is current on vaccinations and is neutered plus microchipped. He is about 35-40 pounds and could stand to gain a few more pounds.
Charlie is a medium energy, medium sized guy and has demonstrated excellent dog social skills with both large and small dogs in his foster home. He is VERY playful and needs a home with a medium-large dog who is equally interested in wrestling and playing. Charlie is 90% housetrained at this point, and sleeps without issue in his crate all night. He has been very easy to train, and has learned several commands in just a few weeks, including sit, bed, and wait. He also takes treats nicely and can be fed with other dogs, as long as the other dogs also have good manners.
Charlie can be timid on leash walks and will need more socialization and training in that area. He tends to walk very slowly or put on the brakes when taking walks. He is quite a big baby and gets scared by other dogs barking at him from their yards. This is honestly the only negative that he has demonstrated. He doesn't destroy or chew things as long as he is given bones to chew, he doesn't howl when left alone crated, and he doesn't mark. He doesn't bark when left in the yard, and prefers to go lie down in the garage on his dog bed. He pees like a female dog and was likely neutrered at a young age before he learned how to lift his leg. He does fine meeting new people though he can be a little bit timid at first. He seems to do fine with kids, although I would not place him in a home with kids under about 6, depending on the maturity of the child.
Charlie is currently living with a flock of chickens and is 100% chicken safe. I'm sure he will be equally as submissive with cats (though he may try to play with them)
Charlie will make a great addition to a family who:
1. Has another playful dog for him to pal around with. He absolutely loves our Doberman and tries to play with our smaller dogs.
2. Will enjoy Charlie as an indoor family member. He gets upset when left outside for long periods of time if his people are home.
3. Understands the higher level of responsibility involved in owning a bully breed due to social perceptions. He absolutely needs a family that will continue his training, and who takes seriously the need to be your dog's leader in all situations.
4. Likes to cuddle. He is very cuddly and loves to spend time on the couch with you , or on your lap. He is not a dog that should be left outside al the time, and will make a terrible guard dog. He doesn't need a huge yard or a ton of exercise, just another dog that will wrestle with him a few times a day.
Charlie is being fostered in the Redlands area, but I can drive him up to 30 miles for meet and greets , we can always meet at a park halfway. If you are interested in meeting Charlie, send some basic information about your family, what you are looking for in a dog, and I will send you an application and we can set up a time to meet.
I take the time to train and really get to know the dogs that I foster so that I can be certain that the dog and new home are a perfect match. All adoptions involve a 2 week trial period in which you can return the dog with a full refund of the adoption fee, and you can ALWAYS return a dog to me for any reason after that, no questions asked. I can send more pictures of videos upon request.
Charlies' adoption fee is $200.
