Handsome gentleman looking for love...   My name is Buddy. Red Collar Rescue saved my life about 10 years ago. I had a great life with the family of my dreams. But one day, I woke up and things had changed. My family was gone and they left me behind. Things didn't look to good for me. I was hungry, dirty and then I got hit by a car. I got picked up and taken to the shelter. I had resigned myself to my fate when a kindly tech asked about my microchip. That microchip saved my life.   I was sprung from the shelter by Red Collar and taken to the vet. My luck began to change again. I didn't break anything but when you are more Sam Elliot than Zac Effron, you know everything hurt, a lot. But I kept smiling. I never really stopped.   Don't go feeling too sorry for me; people have been counting me out my whole life and I keep surprising them. I'm off my pain meds unless I need them. I have a spring in my step and a new leash on life. I'm now looking for the right family.   My likes: 1. Long car rides that don't end at the vet. I like microbreweries, beer gardens and parks. 2. Road trips. I went to Arizona this past Christmas and loved it. I keep hearing about this place called the beach. I would love to go sometime. 3. FOOD! What dog doesn't love food? But I'm told I'm a real chow hound with a taste for the finer things in life. 4. Affection: I'm all about snuggles and puppy kisses. I don't meet too many strangers. 5. Long naps, preferably with my humans. I'm not as young as I used to be so a nap is a beautiful thing, especially with that special someone to snuggle.   My dislikes: Now I don't really have any. I've see things but who hasn't? Life is too short to dwell on the bad stuff.   So if you're looking for life companion and you don't mind a little extra mileage, won't you look be mine?   Email info@redcollar.org to meet me!     show less

Hello there! I'm Elroy. I wasn't always this handsome, but just look at me now! If you have a thing for Tall, Dark, and Goofy pups, then I'm your guy! These days, in my foster home, I am a happy boy. I have 2 foster siblings that also like to play, and I keep them pretty busy. I go through the day without a care in the world rolling around in my silly head. There is no time for worrying about things when there is so much playing to be done!   When I was first rescued by Red Collar Rescue, I was a big mess. I had mange and skin infections, and so wherever I wasn't hairless, I was crusty! I was extremely shy and not sure at all about new people and new places. But, since then, my hair has grown back in (mostly), and I'm getting more and more at ease in a home. I'm still a little bit shy in brand new places, but I welcome a trusted hand on my head to help me see that everything is going to be OK.   I'm looking for my forever home. I'd love one with another playful pup who would like to run and play with me, and wouldn't mind me gnawing gently on their ear, sharing thier bed, and licking them in the face! I promise to provide endless smiles and even daily belly-laughs with my goofy antics. (My foster mom calls me the Mayor of Gooberville!) If you would like to meet me, email marianne@redcollar.org.   Age - 1 year Weight - 40 lbs. Hi, I'm Matilda!  Apparently my name means brave and strong, which after what I've been through, I'd have to agree suits me I'm about 1 year old and 45 lbs.  The humans say I'm a Labrador mix... with the gentle and sweet personality of one too. I pretty much have been living on the streets my whole life.  I was scared, all alone and pregnant.  I gave birth to seven babies early one morning at a home construction site. Two babies were stillborn and the other five were taken by someone (maybe they thought they were doing the right thing).  When I was approached the next day by different humans, they found me curled up in the dirt, shivering and huddled with my two stillborn babies   I didn't even lift my head because I was so sad and scared.  Turns out these two kind humans had been trying to rescue me off the streets for over a week!!  I'm thankful they never gave up on me: that fateful day I really needed their help.  Trusting them was the best decision I ever made.  I was taken to the vet, checked out and given all the care I needed.  Ever since that day, I've gotten all the TLC, love and treats a girl could ask for. I'm slowly learning to trust.  My humans constantly tell me I'm the sweetest, most gentle and perfect young lady.  I get along with their other dogs and cats.  I like to spend my days hanging out in my bed or crate.  I'm potty trained too.  I'm still figuring out this walking up and down stairs thing and the leash thing, but I know I'll master it all in no time. I'm pretty healthy now; I've had all my shots and am gaining weight.  I'm heartworm positive, but they tell me that's no biggie and it will be taken care of.   Now I'm looking for a family (or foster family) who will provide me a loving and patient home where I can continue this journey. Please contact info@redcollar.org for more information. Age - 1 year Weight - 45 lbs. Dogs - okay Cats - okay Kids - okay Needs foster - yes Vaccines - yes Spayed - yes Micorchipped - yes     show less

Hi Guys!   My name is Praline...that's right...like the candy!  I have the same pretty caramel color and sweetness!   I am about 2 years old and 39 lbs.   The shelter guessed me to be a Labrador and Ibizian Hound mix...I do have great ears and a very cute nose! I was found as a stray and taken to the shelter.   I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones, as they said I could go into "adoptions."   But then I came down with an Upper Respiratory Infection.   The hospital ward was full with no where for me to go, so I ended up on the euthanasia list.  One of the workers at the shelter took one last picture of me and sent it to Red Collar Rescue.  But they had to act quickly, or it would be too late for me.   The stars aligned, and RCR answered the plea for help and rushed to the shelter to pick me up.  Whew...that was close! I am now healthy and well and looking for my forever home.   While waiting, I am having to live at the boarding kennel, as there are not enough foster homes to go around.   I am taking obedience lessons and learning to walk well on a leash.  I have never met a stranger, and hope to shower you with love and kisses!  Please email info@redcollar.org to learn more about making me a part of your family!  Please don't wait too long...I am ready to go!    Age - 2 years Weight - 39 lbs.
