Alena is a lovely lady who had a rough start in life, but that hasn't dimmed her belief in a bright future! While not always quick to trust, Aleena is quick to please! She's super sharp, and she has already learned a few tricks! She's also completely potty trained. Now, all Alena really wants in life is a fuzzy blanket, an endless supply of peanut butter, and people to love. Like the sunshine for which she was named, Alena is incredibly playful. She loves tug-of-war, toys, and frequent rooms in the backyard! She's only 26 pounds, so she's not too strong to handle easily. Alena's ideal family will help her continue to lead an active life, with lots of walks. Aleena may require a bit of patience to open up, but this sweet girl's transformation is sure to be a rewarding journey for any family looking for their furry forever friend. If you need a bit more light in your life, apply to adopt Alena today! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. Meet the adorably affectionate Bruce! He is a five-year-old lab mix and despite his size, loves being a lap dog! He was rescued but now is in a loving foster home getting lots of play time as he waits for the perfect family to scoop him up. Bruce's foster dad says he is the very definition of play hard, nap hard. This cuddly pup loves playing fetch and throwing his toys around, but snoozes hard when it's time to relax. Bruce likes to cuddle up with his humans after play time and get lots of snuggles, ear scratches, and belly rubs. An ideal home for him would be one with space. He loves to shake his toys around and romp and play, so he would love a yard or at least daily outings to explore and play. Bruce is leash trained, crate trained, and even house trained! He can also be left out all day and he knows that toys are toys, so he doesn't destroy other loose items in the house. He is one smart pup and is excited to show you that he knows even more than his basic commands! This always-affectionate guy is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Bruce today! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Meet Camden, one of the cutest faces you have ever laid your eyes on! This little fella is around 1 year old, and believed to be a Chihuahua mix. You will notice his bright eyes, shiny coat, and eager-to-please demeanor right away. It's hard to believe sweet Camden had a 'ruff" start to his short life, being chained up outside, with a few injuries, including a broken leg! That has not hindered his happy disposition! Camden is full of puppy energy, and playfulness... going for walks on his leash nicely, rounding up toys to chew and play with, playing with dogs and people who will give him ALL the attention his little wiggly body can handle! His foster mom notes that one of his favorite attention-getting antics is to throw himself on his back, and squirm about! A patient and loving home, possibly with older kids, with or with out dogs, will suit Camden best. Indoor playtime, mixed with outdoor activity in a fenced yard to help Camden expend some of his energy would be fantastic for him. His foster mom also believes that he is a quick learner... already crating quietly, and is at the end of his potty training. What more could you ask for in a young pup? Camden is a star in his own right... quirky, fun-loving, likes to go for swims, is a smart cookie, and can provide entertainment and laugher just by being his silly self! If he sounds like the perfect match for you, feel free to contact DPA and make Camden's "furever-after" dreams come true! Meet Chance. This guy is a white pit bull mix. He was left extremely emaciated on the doorstep of DAS and Dallas Pets Alive swooped in to give this boy some much needed loving and saved his life in the process. Even though he was severely neglected in his past, you would never know it, other than his weight. He is super affectionate towards humans and he likes to be around people at all times, following you around everywhere. He is sweet natured and very playful. He gives everything to his humans. He is 100% loyal to you and just asks that you love him unconditionally in return. He has the sweetest face and is already super adorable. His foster parents are working hard with the vet and resources from DPA to get him back to a healthy weight. He is getting healthier each and every day. He is currently working on housetraining, but he is very smart and is getting the hang of it. He gets along amazingly with other dogs. He obeys commands and knows "sit and "come. He is even willing to learn more if you'd be willing to teach him. He would do great in pretty much any household, whether you're an active family who likes to take adventures or a laid-back family that loves to stay at home and spend time with loved ones. Was it fate that he got this particular name? I think it was. He really does deserve a second chance and we hope that you'll give it to him. Please don't hesitate to apply to adopt this fella today! You'd make him eternally happy and in return he'd love you with all his heart! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. This beautiful butterscotchy-brown sweetie is named Daisie! Just like the flower, this girl is pure simple happiness! Daisie is our Outdoor Voices Dog of the Month for February. The lucky person who adopts Daisie will receive a $100 OV gift card AND a year long membership to Mutts Cantina. Are you ready to get active with your new best friend? Believed to be a stray, Daisie was lucky to have DPA rescue her, and set her up in a proper foster home. She is the perfect size dog for most living situations; abboxer-pittie mix, perfectly in between 35-45 lbs. She is training to walk on her leash, and already see's her crate as a safe spot, to lay and relax. Despite Daisie's unknown past she has been soaking up the "domestic" life- learning what is and is NOT a doggy chew toy, sniffing around the yard and enjoying the affection of actual people! She is also being introduced to other dogs, and so far doing quite well! Her favorite activity so far, is to receive affection from her owners, and relishing every pet, kiss, and snuggle she is shown! One fun characteristic Daisie has is that when she wags her tail, her entire body almost can't keep up and she almost trips! Hilarious! If your looking for a young, smart, lovable dog look no further! This pretty girl deserves to be shown what a great home life is, with a single owner, or family who is ready to nuture her, keep her active, and social, but most of all what it's like to be loved, unconditionally, in a healthy happy "furever home"! Meet Digby! He's an older chihuahua pup that was rescued after his owner gave him up, and now he's in a great foster home getting the love he deserves while he waits for his forever family! Digby will make a wonderful companion to whoever adopts him. He's a bit shy at first but once he trusts someone, he really comes out of his shell and wants to be near them all the time. In fact, he loves hanging out on the couch to watch TV! But he does understand the importance of exercise - he loves short, daily walks! Digby gets along with most other pups and cats, but he can be particular about larger dog friends. Digby would probably love a furry friend or two that are about his size, and he's fine with kitties, too. Digby prefers women and would do best in a home without children. Feisty and fashion-forward, DONATELLA is prepared to walk right off the runway and into your heart! Donatella might've had a rough start in life, but that hasn't dissuaded her from chasing her dreams! Just like her Versace namesake, this playful, 3-year-old terrier mix is a real go-getter-and what she wants more than anything is a forever home to call her own! Donatella is active, affectionate, and always up for a new adventure-especially if she can accessorize with a cute carrier, leash, or harness! Donatella's foster parent says she walks well on a leash. And, at only 9 pounds, this stylish little lady is the perfect shopping companion! This wonderful white fluff ball is eager to please and well on her way to being fully house trained. Donatella does well with other dogs, but her ideal home is one in which she can be treated as the precious princess she is. Elvis is a short-haired, gray tabby cat who's never met a stranger! He was a stray cat in Oak Cliff before deciding he needed a forever home, which he is so patiently waiting for. If you're looking for an aloof, standoffish cat, Elvis is not your boy - Elvis loves love! He wants nothing more than to be together and likes any activity as long as he's with someone he loves, but he's calm and quiet when he needs to be. He is curious and engaged with the small resident canine in his foster home. Now that he is adjusting to life as a pet, he enjoys athletic, active play with toys. He is a door-darter and will need to be in a home that can manage that. He's vocal around mealtimes but is polite otherwise. His foster home thinks he's a purrfect cat and has successfully won over cat-lovers and non-cat lovers alike with his charming personality. Well, hi there y'all! I'm Hattie Mae. As you can probably tell from my name, I'm just a sweet lil southern bell. And just like a true southern bell, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. When I found myself livin on the street, some sweet gentleman found me and brought me to the shelter. He actually cried when he dropped he off and that's when Dallas Pets Alive came in. Now I am learning to be a true lady and working on my manners in my foster home. I already know how to walk on a leash, potty outside, go into my kennel, sit, lay down, and shake. I do declare, I think that's pretty impressive! Don't you? After all, I am only about 10 months old, and still have quite a bit of puppy energy. But I do try my best to be a good hostess and not be rude. A lady never has to beg, so hopefully you'll see how wonderful I am all on your own. Until then, I'll be playin hard-to-get and will wait for your call or email. <3 Hattie Mae All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Besides being a looker (check out that cinnamon coat!) Honey has a lot to offer her forever family. Here are a few things you need to know about Honey before you fall in love with her! Honey needs an active family that will take her on ALL the walks, as well as to dog parks and doggie day care. She has lots of energy and tends to bounce like Tigger when she is excited! After her play-filled day, she will be ready to snuggle with you on the couch and check out the latest episodes of your favorite shows. Meet affectionate Isaac. We thought she was a boy until we had her "neutered and found out she was a girl. Since she already knew her name, we kept it. She is an 8-month-old gray and white striped cat who was born in our garage. The mother is a stray who adopted us. Isaac has been handled by adults and grandchildren since she was 4 weeks old. She has been spayed and had all her shots. Isaac is quieter than her sister. Once she gets used to you she loves to be held and petted. She purrs constantly. She loves to play, run and be silly - especially with her sister. She enjoys having her back scratched first thing in the morning. She gets along with dogs (we have 3 goldens) and other cats as well as people. Isaac is litterbox trained. She has the run of the house during the day and stays in the bedroom/bathroom at night. This kitten needs a loving home. She would be a great companion for anyone! Issac is available for pre-adopt only at this time as he is undergoing medical treatment, but applications can still be completed. Meet Laverne! Living it up at her foster home, Lavern spends her days hanging out with her DPA sister Shirley and their awesome foster mom. These two sisters are a hoot to hangout with as they play with their toys and snuggle on the couch. Lavern is the ultimate toy lover and carries her favorite toys from room to room while keeping a close watchful eye on Shirley. While not busy with her toys, Lavern stays by her foster moms side following in her shadow. She's house trained and working on more tricks to impress her future family. These sisters love people and greet everyone with excited tail wags. Although they love to spend time together, Lavern and Shirley may enjoy being only children so that they can have all of the human affection to themselves. Hi! My name is Leo! I am the most handsome, dapper gentleman you ever did see! My foster mama says I am a social butterfly, but I am most definitely a cat; so she's really silly! I love to talk and tell you about my day, and especially to beg you for treats. Yummy! I enjoy sleeping next to my foster mom and chilling out next to her while she watches TV. I also really enjoy playing follow the leader with her around the house. I haven't yet met dogs or kids, but I'm such a friendly boy, I'm sure I could get along with just about anyone. My foster Mom tells me I am FIV Positive (I guess that means I'm happy or something?) Leo III has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), a condition that weakens a cat's immune system. FIV is only transmitted through blood transfusions, serious penetrating bite wounds, or intercourse (but of course all DPA cats are fixed!). Other cats cannot get FIV through casual contact with an FIV+ cat. It cannot be transmitted to humans, dogs, or any other pets in the home. This is by no means a death sentence, and most cats with FIV can live to spend many long, happy years with their families, but it does mean his immune system is weaker, making it extremely important to stay indoors, stay up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and be fed a balanced diet with regular vet visits. They can live their entire life without ever coming down with any symptoms of FIV. As long as they are not exposed to any other virus or bacteria that their weakened immune system can't handle, they can live healthy, normal lives! Would you like to have a roaring good time with Leo III? Leo is available for pre-adopt only at this time as he is undergoing medical treatment, but applications can still be completed. Applications for pre-adopt are processed in the order they are received. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Meet the adorable kitty cat named Lip! She has solid black fur and is a youngin'. She loves to get head scratches, for her it's like going to the spa for a day. Although shy, she opens up to you once you've been acquainted. She loves nap time and is one for lazy days. She saves all that energy for night time. She's definitely a night owl. If you've got a nice window to look out of, she will lay there and soak in the sun for hours, maybe even dozing off in the meantime. She is house trained and good with cats. Currently, Lip is being fostered with her birth sibling Fiona and they are as close as can be. Because of this, her foster parent thinks that the best situation would be if Lip could get adopted along with her sister Fiona, as to not separate them and traumatize them any further. Other than that, any home would be great. Would you like to play hide and seek full time with Lip? Could you welcome her into your home and help her get out of her shell even more? Then please don't hesitate to apply to adopt her today. She will be that one black cat that brings you good luck instead of bad! Smile big and say "Hi" to Lolli-Pop! Her name can't come out of your mouth without reminding you of childhood, and conjuring up a little joy! Lolli-pop is only around 2 years of age, with delightful features-(much like a real lollipop)- like her pretty honey toned eyes, and velvety creme-colored coat. She enjoys her car rides, likes short walks, is house broken, crate trained, and does ok with other dog interactions, after a meet-and greet, to properly introduce/sniff each other. Lolli-Pop is very well behaved, affectionate, and good mannered. Her foster mom describes her, as bright, gentle, easy going and will do well in a household with adults, and kids who are older. Her activity level is low-moderate, so a nice sized fenced yard could be ideal for when Lolli-pop would like outdoor time and exercise! Also-that way her sensitive paws don't have to be subjected to hot concrete walks, in summer time. A perfect gentle-giant, Lolli-Pop was an owner surrender, yet she comes with an abundance of positive traits, that would only grow, in a loving, caring furever home, with a devoted owner! Who wouldn't love to laugh with daily joy, and make Lolli-pop's second-chance dreams come true?! Lovely Louise! This elderly sweetie is one of the kindest pups you'll ever meet! After a lifetime of hardship, this little darling is ready to live out her golden years with a loving family. While she waits for them to find her, she's getting lots of love, attention and sleep in a foster home. Louise's foster mom says this Schnauzer mix is the most precious dog she's ever known. Louise is blind, but loves to happily sniff to find her people when they come home! She loves to sleep! She sleeps most of the day in a comfy spot she finds around the house, so it's safe to say she's a pretty laid back pup. For play time, Louise loves a good chew toy. She also enjoys all kinds of pets, especially belly rubs, which make her howl with delight! This sweetheart also loves to be held and cuddled, and loves knowing there are people who love her. Louise's ideal home is one where her family is home a lot with her. Someone in retirement or someone who works from home may be the perfect fit for her. She is prone to the occasional accident, so a potty schedule is a must! She also wouldn't mind other pups around, although she likes sniffing them rather than playing. This lady wouldn't mind kids if they are gentle. She also would like a yard to explore, or at least a family committed to daily walks so she can sniff along the sidewalk! Louise's biggest request, though, is love, and lots of it! Want to give her the love she deserves? Apply to adopt her today! Meet Lovey Howl! This precious pit bull is an older girl, around seven years old, who loves nothing more than being with her people. She was rescued from the shelter and now lives in a foster home while she waits for her perfect forever family! Lovey is very loving and attentive. She likes to follow her foster parents around the house and just be near them as much as possible. She also does well on walks and loves to cuddle. An ideal home for her would be a low-key one where she is the only pet. Given that she's an older girl, she is pretty mellow and would be a great companion for someone in a quieter home. In addition to her sweet nature, Lovey is also smart! She knows the sit and stay commands and is house trained. She's such a good girl. This lady deserves the perfect forever home. Are you looking for a fur baby to round out your active household? Sweet MALCOLM was made to be in the middle of the action! This bright, two-year-old lab mix might've had a rough start in life, but Malcolm hasn't let a little dysfunction get him down. Instead, this boy is all smiles--even in his crate! Malcolm knows basic commands like "sit" and "shake," and he's working really hard on his potty training! He lives for walks, and he's hoping to find a forever family who can help him get lots of exercise. Malcolm would do best as the middle sibling in a home with dogs his own size. While he's not a fan of cats, Malcolm IS a fan of toys, and he's a rockstar at playing alone or with others. If his foster humans don't have time to play fetch, Malcolm will throw his toys up in the air and catch them all by himself! When he's not playing or running around, Malcolm is completely content to curl up at your side and solicit some snuggles. He understands that a good nap gives him the strength he needs to conquer the next great adventure--and you'll definitely want Malcolm there for all of your adventures! Meet affectionate Meatball! He is a five-year-old pit mix. Meatball is a true survivor. He has been through such an abusive past, one that no dog should have to go through and has the scars showing how he has overcome that trauma. Now he's hoping for a family to give him a chance at a better life, one that he hasn't had and one that he deserves. Though his past has been tough, you wouldn't know or see it in him now. He's the most happy-go-lucky dog you'll ever meet. Meatball is such a love bug. Get ready for lots of affection from him! He is quite the gentleman too. Meatball is friendly towards all humans and just loves being in the company of other dogs. Do you love to cuddle? Because Meatball does! He's the biggest cuddler EVER! Although in pictures he looks huge, he is actually the perfect size for a snuggle bug companion. If you hold him in your lap, he will actually lay on your shoulder. By the way, Meatball is an equal opportunity toy lover. I don't think he's ever seen a toy that he's not liked. He'd love to go to your local pet shop with you to help pick out something to play with. A good home for Meatball would be with a family and if you have another dog, that's a bonus... he needs a doggy friend. He would always rather roam around the house and would be great on a doggie bed instead of a crate. Whoever adopts him needs to have consistency with continuing his training. But he is such a good listener and most importantly he wants to learn new things in order to make his humans proud. He is getting good progress on his potty training and knows how to sit. Can you give Meatball a second chance at first love? He sure could use a furever family! If he's the one for you, please don't hesitate to apply to adopt him today! This guy will be a great addition to whoever adopts him and will always be loyal to you. He just wants a chance to prove it. Meatball is available for pre-adopt only at this time. Meet the ever-so-adorable Mina! This sweet, gorgeous girl sports the most beautiful tuxedo coat and is sure to charm anyone she meets. Found living in a feral cat colony by Dallas Animal Services, Mina was deemed too young and itty bitty to return to this environment, so she is now living it up with her current foster family! Mina is gradually getting more comfortable with humans and other animals, slowly coming out of her shy, timid shell. She is great with using a litter box, taking to it right away! Mina does fine with small dogs, though she prefers to hide from them rather than play. However, she loves the company of other cats, getting along swimmingly with her foster family's current feline. While a little timid at first, Mina can be quite the cuddle bug. Her foster family gushes about how cute she is when she is happily curled up purring on their chests, snoozing away comfortably. She is still getting used to the concept of toys and playing, but she does love a good toothbrush that she can play with and bite the bristles of. Mina would do best in a home with older children and adults who can be gentle and patient as she learns to conquer her shyness. She would love to have a home with other cats and could get used to mellow dogs if introduced slowly. With some patience and a lot of love, Mina could be the purrfect companion! Napoleon Dynamite is a short-hair tabby cat with a beautiful coat and green-yellow eyes who came into DPA as a tiny feral kitten with his three siblings. He's reserved - loves the pets, but prefers to come to you. This cat loves to play on the cat tower and with various toys in his space. Percy, a 6 and a half year old, 12 lb chihuahua mix, is proof that all lives are worth saving! He was very feral, hovered in the corner with his face buried behind another house mate at the shelter. You probably would not have known he was there if you did not look close enough. Percy had no clue what it was like to encounter normal social interactions with humans or be loved. Since coming into foster care Percy has gone from a scared baby in the corner to going on what was most likely his first walk ever! You can bet it was not as quick as putting a harness on and heading out the door. It was an intentional work in progress meant to help build his confidence. This gave him the confidence he needed join his foster siblings and start learning how to just be a dog. He now goes outside with confidence, is potty trained, uses the doggy door, enjoys sunbathing on the patio, meal time with the pack, playing with the other pups in the house, and so much more! Percy has had many "firsts over the past couple of months. Each one are the result of his hard work. They show how far he has come and how far he can go with a family that will continue working with him. Percy is still learning how to be a dog. He is still shy to sudden movements and is still working on trust. He will come to you and sniff in a calm setting but is not open to being handled yet. Percy is good with dogs; untested with cats but would most likely be fine; older kids would be ok but smaller kids would probably make him too nervous. If you have time and patience, Percy's continuing transformation could be your greatest reward! Meet Sadie Vida! She's an eight-year-old pit bull mix who, despite her age, has plenty of lovable energy! Her foster mom says this girl is a total sweetheart who's eager to learn and just wants to be loved. She was rescued from the shelter and is now in a loving foster home waiting for the right family to come along! Sadie is a pretty active pup who loves her toys, and especially loves playing with them when her people are in the room. She absolutely loves children and always greets kids with a smile and lots of tail wags! Despite her size, Sadie likes to cuddle up with her humans - this sweet girl loves affection, she can't get enough! An ideal home for Sadie would be one with kids and a family who will let her actually be a part of their family unit. She wants nothing more than to love on her humans with all her heart, so she deserves a family who will engage with her, love on her, and play with her. Sadie loves walks, so she does well on the leash, and is crate trained. She also knows sit and shake, and is eager to learn more! As long as she knows she's making her humans proud, she's a happy girl! This big-hearted pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you? Apply to adopt Sadie Vida today! Hi, my name's Sir Floofs but my foster mom calls me Gulliver (more on that later). Though I ama bit of a giant, I truly am the gentlest. I love snuggling and watching The Office with my foster family - my favorite character is Andy Bernard because he's a lot like me: a little goofy, totally loyal, always down to party, but happy to chill. In my foster home there are four senior pups: three Jack Russells and one black lab/Blue heeler mix - I was really excited to meet them! Foster mom said that when she first introduced me to the Jack Russells it reminded her of when Gulliver from Gulliver's Travels met the Lilliputians - hence, the name Gulliver. I let them sniff me and when I offered to play with them, they obliged - I was SO happy! I am very gentle with them (don't forget I'm about 10x their size!) and when they get too tired and want to stop, I am happy to snuggle up by the Christmas tree. I like treats and toys, but my most favorite thing in the world is being with my pack - both furry and human. When Santa asked me what I wanted this Christmas, all I could think of was what I want most in this whole world - a furever family! I would do great in any home except perhaps one with smaller children as I am not fully aware of how big I am and I do love to give gentle hugs, which might be a bit too much for the smaller kiddos. So whattya say? Are you ready to cuddle? Sir Floof A Lot is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as he is heartworm positive. Say "Hi" to Twinkie! Just like one of your favourite all time desserts, Twinkie is deliciously wonderful, in a lot of ways! She is a small 12 lb blonde chihuahua, (of COURSE similar to creamy filling of a Twinkie!) with the added cuteness of one floppy ear, and one up right ear! Twinkie has been an excellent foster, she is the consistent calm in a house with toddlers and other dogs. She is full of energy, in spurts, is learning to walk on her leash like a pro, and gets along great with the other dogs in foster household. She has done very well with all children she's encountered, ranging in ages 1-5 yrs. old, Twinkie mostly loves to be close to her humans, snuggling, touching and cuddling any part of body she can touch! She listens when her name is called, enjoys chew toys, and can hold her own when it comes to rough house-playing with bigger dogs. Twinkie could best be described as a true companion dog, and will do best in a household with a family who is home more frequently, or has other dogs to keep her active and content. This little girl can be a little tart Twinkie at times too! A fenced yard must be checked, because she likes to try to chase any animal around perimeter, be it cat, or squirrel, and even tries to escape to chase! She can bark when meeting a new face, coming into "her home", but makes friends after 5 minutes. Twinkie is crate trained, but usually sleeps in an open crate in the laundry room, snuggling with the other dogs. This sweet girl is ready to meet everyone and find herself her "furever home", whether it's in a house with secure yard, or an apartment with owner who has time to dedicate to Twinkie, as much as she is ready to dedicate to them! show less

Once a stray, this fantastically fierce little lady now spends her days advocating for those less fortunate from the fantastic perch of her foster's couch. Meet the formidable XENA the Warrior Princess! A two-year-old terrier mix, Xena is dainty in appearance and delightful in personality. She believes in every canine's right to a human companion-especially here! Xena knows that the right home isn't just going to fall into her lap, though. She's trained hard to be the kind of warrior princess her forever home needs. Xena is already deeply in tune with human needs-she's calm, cuddly, crate-trained and potty trained! A dream on the leash and the perfect snuggle buddy, the only thing Xena's not so sure about are dogs that are much larger than she. Xena loves to herd her cloth toy minions into a cute, cozy army. She also enjoys walks and the occasional trip around the backyard-to patrol the perimeter, of course! Xena has royal qualifications. Now, all she needs is a home to call her own.
