Bella is a very special guy. Not just because he likes to wear sweaters or because he rocks one of the most popular female pet names. And it’s not even his origin story, although that’s a good one: Bella was rescued several years ago, totally emaciated, from a playground in Fort Greene. For some reason, no one decided to check under his tail for a while, so he was named Bella (partially because he was thought to be a different cat, but that’s a whole other story). For many years, he lived happily atop the counter and shelves of neighborhood pet store Who’s Your Doggy, until their Fort Greene location closed. We weren’t sure if Bella would enjoy a home life, so we offered him a chance in a foster home and HE WAS SO HAPPY. So now it’s time for this weary traveler to find his forever home. Bella tolerates other cats and dogs, but would really enjoy being your own and only love-muffin (although he is willing to entertain other options). He’s physically around 8 years old, although he’s as wise as an ancient philosopher and as emotionally fragile as a tiny toddler. As may be apparent by this lengthy bio, it’s hard to find the right words to explain the joy that is our Bella - maybe you’ll just have to meet him to experience yourself. show less

He sneaks into bed in the morning to cuddle and ask for breakfast :) He enjoys playing laser tag, watching birds from the window and cuddling and wrestling with his brother. Felix is gentle and shy. He needs patience and lots of love to feel comfortable, and he will come to you when he is ready. His warm expression shows that he cares and appreciates you. Ernie and his brother Bert (already adopted) were trapped in a discarded backyard in Sunset Park when they were 7 weeks old. While he is shy around strangers, he becomes really sweet once he is comfortable around you. He likes to sit on his foster's lap and ask for petting. He makes a great lap warmer! Ernie will sleep with you at night - sometimes in between your legs and sometimes over your head. He is very food-motivated. When it is meal time, he will purr and rub against you when you are preparing his food. Besides being a foodie, he is also really playful and he enjoys wrestling with his foster siblings. After a few months of TLC and a visit to the cardiologist, we learned that Karla is only a couple years old and is healthy and happy and ready for adoption! Karla would prefer to be your own and only cat although may be able to tolerate a quiet and considerate feline roommate. Karla is spayed, fully vaccinate and FIV/FeLV negative. Soft, gentle lap cat seeks long term relationship with cuddly human. My name is Marley and I am tired of an endless series of casual meetings with strangers. I am ready to settle down in a stable, forever home and devote myself to one or more good people. I am seven years old and ok, maybe I have a little bit of a paunch, but if you make a point of it, I do get into a bit of sport with my favorite pink ribbon, or (be still my beating heart!) a Cat Dancer! I’ve still got it! ;-) I like to sit on the back of the couch and watch the tube with you and if you look in my direction I will say hi with a chirp. I might even crawl into your lap! I enjoy telling you all about my day when I’m in that chatty kind of mood. A good roll in some catnip is always welcome. And boy, do I like to snuggle up to somebody and get some lovin! Belly rubs are my favorite! And you will like it too, because I’m sooo soft and fluffy! The thing is though, I’m a bit shy. My owner of six years left me for a girlfriend with allergies and the loss was traumatic. After that I was bounced around a bit too much and so sometimes I want to chill under the bed when new people come to visit. However, I do get over it quickly especially when treats and chin rubs are involved. I would also probably be happiest as a solo cat, although there is room for negotiation with the right feline. Cowabunga! Fun loving Mikey is the only unadopted Ninja Turtle - let's change that! Mikey and his siblings were rescued from a backyard after their "owner" threw them outside when he had to move. These tiny and scared kittens were so happy to come back inside and haven't stopped playing or purring since! Mikey pretends to be tough and meets new cats with a low growl, but he is quick to play and and make new friends. He was previously fostering with an older cat and enjoyed being bathed and cuddled by his uncle, but he would probably prefer a home with a more active playmate. Mikey is not the brightest bulb on the tree (turtle in the tank?) and frequently falls off beds and couches while attempting new moves. Lucky for him, he's super cute. She lived at Brooklyn Heights bodega and was matriarch of a long lineage of adorable kittens -- until the bodega owners FINALLY allowed us to rescue her and her children. Pistachio is now spayed and looks forward to never giving birth to or nursing another kitten ever again! Lovely Petite Tuxedo GirlScarlett was rescued from a deli basement in Ditmas Park. She's an adorable small tuxedo girl with enormous green eyes and soft fur. She is quite affectionate and helps her foster mother study by napping at her side or in her lap. She can also be independent; like her namesake, Scarlett is her own woman. Scarlett is often playful and active, especially in the evenings. She loves warm places and napping in her basket. Possibly because of her previous isolation and poor treatment, Scarlett is nervous of loud noises and loud people and would do best in a quiet home with someone who can give her love and attention. She's the perfect lap cat companion! Scarlett would prefer to be a single girl, but she can tolerate other laidback cats who give her space. She is approximately six years old, spayed, fully vaccinated, FIV/FeLV negative, and microchipped. show less

Squirrel and Turtle are five month old petite brown tabby sisters looking for a home together. Squirrel is an affectionate and gentle kitten. She is on the shyer side but is content to sit in your lap and receive lots of love. Although many kittens are playful and might nip, she is the type of kitten who would not even hurt a fly - even when she plays, she only lightly taps the fake 'birdies'. She gets along great with other cats and loves snuggling up with her sister Turtle and her four year old foster sister. Squirrel LOVES shoes and is found cuddling with a different pair of shoes every day. She is so easy going and gentle, and although she is initially shy with strangers, will absolutely find a place in your heart once you get to know her. Turtle has never met a cat that she doesn't love - even if the feelings are not initially reciprocated. Turtle also LOVES to play and will run around and do very impressive tricks when feather stick or laser light are out. She is still very hesitant around people, but when you do earn her trust, she can be a little love bug. She is very easy going and basically just wants to always be snuggled up to another cat, or to her sister Squirrel. Squirrel and Turtle are FIV/FeLV negative, fully vaccinated and spayed. Stripes and Swirls were found in Brooklyn along with both of their litters of young kittens. These beautiful young tabbies (between 1-2 years old) may be sisters, mother and daughter, or just really good friends. They were co-moms to their many kittens in the cafe kitten terrarium, but now that they kittens are bigger, Stripes and Swirls get to be young and foolish themselves! Stripes (known formally as Rebecca) is a snuggle muffin extraordinaire and adores to be held and cuddled. While in your arm or lap, she will smush herself into a tiny ball while headbutitng and purring - sometimes even getting a little aggressive for love! She can be playful at times, especially if catnip is involved. Swirls always looks a bit concerned or thoughtful, but is extremely affectionate and loves to cuddle. She chirps to say hello and has been found staring at herself in the mirror. These best friends (and definitely relatives of some sort) would love to be adopted together. show less

Purring machine alert! Toby is the sweetest kitten ever. Rescued from a backyard in Borough Hall when he was 10 weeks old, Toby now enjoys the indoor life and all the food he can get. He purrs as soon as you pet him. He loves to be held and enjoy cuddling with his foster. His favorite toy is his foster brother's tail, cat dancer and catnip toys. What does a cat rescuer do when they encounter a friendly, stray cat on the only day there are no available carriers? Why, stick the super sweet cat (and his open can of stinky fish food) in a tote bag of course...and then name him Totes MaGotes! (P.S. this is why we can't have nice things.) Although this insanely charismatic and outgoing fellow came to us in an unusual way, he has settled right in - enjoying affection and attention and all the good snacks. Totes is fine with other polite cats and dogs, but wouldn't mind a home all to himself. Totes is fairly young, probably under two years. He's neutered, fully vaccinated, FIV/FeLV negative and currently holding court on the Cat Cafe front counter. show less

Winston Churchill can be a bit of a crybaby. Don't get us wrong, he can also be calm and collected, but did you know that Mr. Churchill hates to be in a carrier? He would much prefer to be cuddled, admired or played with. Winston was found outside a Fort Greene Housing Project, wandering aimlessly and looking for love. We think he is between 1-2 years old. He is quick to make friends with new people and is looking for accommodations with either a great deal of human attention (i.e. lots of playing) or with a friendly young cat friend. Although initially named after the dignified leader, his foster preferred to compare him to Winston from The New Girl -- well intentioned, but sometimes misfires. show less
