BUTLER, is in a FOSTER TO ADOPT home and will not be available at least for a week.  He is a Chiweenie, who was on the Euth list in Texas and in the nick of time he was busted out by our partner group in Dallas.  He is medium red/orange fur w white socks, 1 yr., 10.4 lbs. R, DHPPL, B, Hw neg, dewormed. No chip or neuter. On preventative. BUTLER is a class clown! Hes friendly, likes everyone especially Boris (wookie looking Yorkie). He is playful, inquisitive and uses doggie door. Has not messed up his crate and will definitely alert if he needs to go outside. He walks well on a harness. Cheerio is a 10-lb., approximately one-and-a-half-year-old chihuahua mix who has been through a lot in his young life. He was surrendered to the city shelter when his family could no longer care for him. (He was said to have lived happily with a nine-year-old and another small dog.) Cheerio was very scared in the shelter - he made friends but would lie on his side, rub himself on the ground and whine from stress - and was set to be put down when Waggytail stepped in. In foster he has blossomed, with a gentle approach, into a joyful pup who loves to play fetch with his Kong (which he carries out to the yard!), and to carouse with two small doggie housemates. He is learning to sit for treats in order to curtail his excitement at seeing kids, runners and dogs on the street. Cheerio is housebroken if kept on a regular schedule. He would love a yard to expend his young energy on, and a quiet home that understands fearful dogs. He does need time to warm up, and continued positive training to thrive (no small kids, please). His human and canine foster family love him, and hope he finds a home that introduces him slowly to more new experiences so his awesomeness can continue to unfold. Hazel is a 12-pound, 1-year old Chihuahua - who, as you can see, is excellent help with laundry! Found as a stray in LA, she arrived in NYC a very scared little girl. She has blossomed in her foster home and each day becomes more comfortable and secure. Her foster parents are very patient, as she is still timid, but making excellent progress. Hazel is a happy pup who recently discovered a love of tennis balls and loves to play, even on her own. She is reportedly doing very well with her fear of strangers and is meeting lots of new friends, to one day become a social butterfly! Hazel would be great in home with another dog as she is playful, and loves to sprint around the dog park before walks. The way to Hazel's shy heart is first through treats, then tummy rubs! I am John F. Kennedy, but my friends call me Jack. I'm 9 pounds and 4 years old and deep-down a loving mush, but I come across as initially timid (except to the doormen who I am scouting for votes). I prefer to meet people on my own (comfortable) terms. My foster mom says I am happiest when she holds me and now that I trust her, I am more demanding of belly rubs. I'm not all looks though - my presidential qualities expand to intelligence - I know when 10-seconds are just about up on the microwave which means mealtime! My out-of-the-oval-office hobbies include cuddling on the couch and eating yummy treats. Hey ~  Little Macy Gray made her way across the USA!  Well, at least from Texas. She arrived in NYC  last week (for the deep freeze) , and is looking for her furever home. Macy is a white n black 4 year old Chihuahua who is a tiny  4.5 pounds. She definitely needs a sweater! She came from a neglect situation with no care given,  but  Macy remained cheerful and sweet (though a little clingy). She adores her little stuffed animal, and likes to burrow under the covers.   She is spayed, up to date on shots, but not microchipped yet (will be) and wee wee pad trained. She recently had 9 teeth pulled and is on soft food. She will need an annual dental check up.  Oh, and She  has something VERY special besides love to give. She has one brown and one blue eye! Martini is a 2-year old, 15-pound male dachshund mix who just arrived to NYC. This handsome boy with his side-eye glance was surrendered to a Texas shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. Martini is still very scared and hides under his foster moms's couch, preferring to eat his meals under there, but we hope he makes progress as she helps him become more confident. He is great going for walks with his foster brother to show him the leashes (get it? show him the ropes...). Martini is a bit fearful with outside city noises, but is very well-behaved while walking. He has a foster cat sibling and seems to be not phased by it - rather ambivalent actually. Martini won't jump into bed, but happily sleeps there all night when properly invited up. This sweet, wonderful man, has a seemingly refined palate for vodka - or it gin? :) Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and received dhpp, bordatella, rabies. This 18-pound girl is shy and reserved, but loves to be held and cuddled by those she trusts. Penelope is loving and happy, but needs a family with patience and once who can give her time to return that unconditional love and trust.  Pongo is a gorgeous and friendly Blue Heeler boy who came to NYC at the end of December from a Texas shelter where he'd been on the Euth list.   He's being fostered in Long Island and would   love to continue to live in a house with a yard.  He loves playing fetch, and when indoors he loves his kong.  He JUST turned 1 years old and is 46 pounds. He's all love but he's got some edges to smooth out with his manners and leash work,  so a little training will go a long way (he's still young- strong and has a lot of energy). But despite this he's worth every second you put into him beacuse he will be the best addition to your life. He's a lover. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him.  He should be ok with other dogs and kids, but not sure about cats. Zebedee is a 12 pound, approximately 1 year old, Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix arriving sometime in Feb from TX and needs foster. He's great with other dogs, but also likes some one on one time with his people. Zebedee has had no experience with cats so far. He is pretty sweet and would probably be good with kids, but don't know for sure.
