Name: Dobby Balentine Suspected Breed(s): Feist / Labrador mix Gender: Male Age: 1 year old Weight: 36 lbs. Personality: Funny, trainable, quiet, energetic, shy, gentle, eager to please, defense, snuggler, calm, easygoing, affectionate, protective, smart, loyal, friendly, playful Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs on and off leash, acting very playful. Dobby has a blast at day care and dog parks! He does best with similar-sized dogs. (He is afraid of big dogs.) Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats Observations with Kids: Children’s sudden movements can upset him and make him anxious. For that reason he would do best in a home without children. House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Dobby does not like the crate, but he is trusted to have free roam of the house. Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Dobby is a sweet, caring and wonderful dog. He has the cutest habit of sitting on a stool so he can watch out the window as his people leave and return home. This fun boy is a loyal friend who loves to sit near (or on) his people and get belly rubs and ear scratches. When Dobby makes a new friend at the dog park, he gets the “zoomies” and starts running around in circles like an Olympic sprinter with his new friend! Dobby is happy to sit near you quietly all day or go for a long walk, whatever you prefer. He’s also a huge fan of playing with his toys, and when playtime is over, he drags them around the house as he lovingly follows his people around. He is a good learner, and he knows the command “leave it” and does very well with “drop it” if he isn’t feeling anxious. Dobby will do best in a home outside the city with another dog, and he is not a fan of loud mechanical noises. Dobby's adopters will be very lucky indeed! Name: Elden Suspected Breed(s): Great Dane mix Gender: Male Age: 5 years old Weight: 83 lbs (underweight) Personality: Sweet, Calm, Friendly, Easygoing, Goofy, Loyal, Snuggler, Affectionate, Gentle, Quiet, Observations with Dogs: Dog friendly and loves to snuggle with his canine foster siblings.  Observations with Cats: Elden ignores the cats in his foster home – even when one swatted at him!  Observations with Kids: Is gentle and ambivalent with kids. There are two young children in his foster home. House Training Progress: No accidents. Crate Training Progress: Elden does well in the crate. Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Columbus County, NC Additional Information: The epitome of a gentle giant, Elden’s a total sweetheart who seems blissfully unaware of his size. He is completely unfazed by most things and is a laid back guy, even in the tumult of a home with two young children, lots of guests, cats and other dogs. She was found as a stray, but when animal control approached her, they saw she had a large wound in her jaw, which had become infected and abscessed. The wound was so big that we don't know how she was able to eat or drink for the long time it appears that she was a stray. It was one of the worst injuries our Galax shelter partner ever saw, and they reached out to City Dogs Rescue for help. After antibiotics and a long oral surgery, Emma is on the mend from what the vet and oral surgeon suspect was an old gunshot wound that was never treated and grew infected. Despite this rough start, Emma is the sweetest, most loving dog. We can't wait to see what great things await her in DC! We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
