Volunteer Roles

Volunteers serve a variety of roles. Check the roles that you are best suited for and interested in helping the rescued animals by filling!

I am interested in learning more about and possibly helping with the following:

Online Community Awareness. Work to help post advertisements to online. Post, edit and update online forms such as Facebook, Instagram, Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet animal profiles.Photographer: Needed for fundraiser events, featured felines at the stores, intakes, adoption events, etc. Set up monthly photo session of currently adoptable pets to help feature them in hopes of finding forever families. Local Community Awareness: Print and post fliers monthly to local business community boards. Check monetary donation bins and expand the network of places that will display our fliers or host a donation bin. Graphic Design: Create flyers for currently adoptable pets & upcoming events for printing and online media.Cage Cleaning & Maintenance: Clean individual cages, litterboxes and the area, organize; & perform other cleaning tasks as needed. Medicate, feed, bathe and/or groom animals; identify injured or unhealthy animals and report them to them to ASHA or other volunteers. Cages are located at the Petco in Columbia, Petco in Ellicott City and Pet Supply Plus of Eldersburg.. Fostering Animals: Care for one or multiple rescued animals in your home. Includes cage cleaning tasks and more.Housekeeping: Assisting fosters with keeping up with laundry by laundering pet beds, rugs, towels, etc at local laundromat as needed.Adoption Events: Participate at events at various locations. We have new events almost every weekend. Usually 3-6 hours long. Events range from Adoption Events at pet stores, to Kitten Yoga, to large all day events, or all weekend events (Pet Expo).Donation Collection: Collect supply donations from local community supporters & businesses. Create or attend events to collect more donations when items are in demand. Example: During kitten season we need more of certain items. Set up donation locations and drop off boxes/bins. Educational Events: We offer schools and kid groups educational events that teach the kids about rescuing, animal safety, animal care, and teach kids to properly interact with different live demo pets.

Age requirement:

We welcome families to volunteer together at stores, events and such, however we do require those under 16 years of age must be accomponied by a parent/guardien that is over 18 years of age. The parent/guardien is required to be the primary volunteer and actively doing the volunteer tasks.

Those that are 16 years of age and over can volunteer independently at cage cleaning volunteer shifts and events, but must have their own transportation and parent/ guardien's permission. Parent/ guardien must be present during the volunteer training or begining of the event to understand what is required of the young adult to do to volunteer.
