About Athena (Acc)

2019: Athena is an ACC survivor who was adopted into a loving family. Unfortunately, due to no fault of her own, she finds herself in need of a home again. Athena is 4 years old and extremely loving. Despite all she has been through, all she wants to do is hang with people and give kisses. She currently weighs about 69 pounds but could lose are few more pounds. While Athena is not dog reactive, we think she would be happiest as your one and only. No cats for this girl. She would make a great weight loss buddy!! Please apply to foster or adopt.

Hello my name is Bella Rose. Many of you may have seen my picture before because I am a CACC survivor. I was scheduled to be euthanized and so many followers of this one city shelter saw my picture and begged a rescue to take me. They offered pledges and made this big stink all over social media... well a rescue stepped up. It was SCR. You see the shelter was putting me to sleep because they needed my cage for a new homeless cat and because they found out I had tumors... but when second chance rescue saved my life they had a doctor take out my tumors and guess what? They were benign!  That was then... Unfortunately I have developed more masses. The vet aspirated them but they came back inconclusive. My vet doesn’t want me to go through any more trauma. I have lost weight and am not a candidate for further anesthesia as I am weak. I have been given only a few months to live. I am not in pain or uncomfortable. I am super sweet and tiny. I’m only 6 pounds and 7 years old. I’m good with kids and other cats for sure. So many people advocated for my life and I am thankful. I am alive. And I would love to live my last months in a home. Being loved on and cuddling. Can you be my fospice home? It is my last wish.  Please apply to for me Bella Rose 🌹  https://www.nycsecondchancerescue.org/cat-app/ show less

5/14/19--Bob is very enegetic boy who loves to run and play.  He enjoys his long walk and does well on leash.  He is a super sweet fella gives hugs and kisses and enjoys his treats , he sits so nicley and takes gently.  Bob is looking for an active home, he would be a great running partner.   A volunteer writes:  Meet Bob – the Snugglemeister!   Need a gentle hug?  Bob, Bob he’s our man, if he can’t do it no one can!   Already a volunteer favorite for his gentle good manners, Bob is so delighted to give and receive hugs and kisses from all.   Calm and easy, he leans in close for petting, and waits for an invitation to give a hug.  He’s so sweet he had my heart in a NY minute; for a puppy he’s incredibly calm and every once in a while breaks into puppy play reminding me that he’s still a baby!   He may be housetrained ‘going’ as soon as we were out the door, doesn’t mind being tethered for photos,  has lovely leash manners and checks up often as we walk.  Bob doesn’t react to dogs passing us on our walk but loved a playful reunion with his sister, Betty, and on a play date with another female dog romped exuberantly.  Bob needs a bit of TLC for his coat which is patchy in places, but good nutritious food should fix that right up.   He’s an awesome boy looking for a new home.  Our behavior assessors were so impressed with him they feel he can go into a home with average dog experience.   He’s a legend in the making, so come meet him quickly. 2019: Did you know that black dogs are the most overlooked in shelters? It is very clear to us that someone loved Bryson and treated him well, before he ended up in a high-kill shelter on death-row. Bryson is one of the calmest, sweetest, and well-mannered dogs we have at our rescue center. Bryson is the type of dog that even grandma can walk, he is a dream on leash, always looking up at his handler for direction. If only he could talk and tell us his story. We want nothing more than to see him in a home- foster or adoption. He waits patiently in his kennel to be taken out, no barking or fuss. He is like a regal prince, waiting for his family to find him. Bryson is good with female dogs. He is 4 years old, and has a stellar temperament. Bull is a deliciously sweet meatball. He responds very well to all dogs and people. He is reserved and doesn't seem to know how to give affection. His scars tell us his history may not have been the easiest. And even so, he has an amazing spirit. We are looking for a special home for this amazing guy, with a human that he can fully connect to. He is currently in a foster home and his foster dad tells us that Bull likes to be near him, but always a length away. Bull likes back and butt rubs from strangers. (Who doesn’t!!). For someone looking for a low maintenance and seemingly worry-free hippo, Bull would a great choice. He is good boy with a lot of upside. : Our beautiful Calette is still looking for a home. She was dumped at a shelter and ended up on the kill list. We just couldn't let such a young, vibrant dog be put down for absolutely no good reason. Calette is a young staffie, about 2 years old, spayed, up to date on all her shots, and micro chipped . She is fine with other dogs with proper introductions. She is crate trained and house broken. She has no guarding issues. Our girl, loves belly rubs and snuggles on the couch--we think she is the whole package!!  Calette has so much love to give, whoever adopts her will consider themselves extremely lucky to have found such a fun, sweet, loving ,and loyal dog. And who can resist those ears !!! Please fill out a application!! Sweet Cherry is a gentle, large-breed mix (we think weimeraner / pibble), who weighs around 55 lbs. Cherry is terrific with people of all ages and sizes. She is very social and currently resides in a doggie daycare.  She can be a little timid at first, but then bonds strongly with her “people”.  Cherry’s favorite things in life are being with people and the outdoors (she also loves to carry around sticks!) Cherry enjoys long walks, hiking and jogging. She also loves to play with social dogs. Cherry has a heart-of-gold, with just the right amount of spunk! She’s the perfect combination of adventure and snuggles! Cherry is an absolute sweetheart who deserves her second chance.
