Boots

Name: Boots Suspected Breed(s): DSH/Tabby Gender: Male Age: 2 years Weight: 10 lbs Personality: Sweet, friendly, easygoing Observations with Dogs: Does not like dogs Observations with Cats: Selective with cats, can play a little rough He can play a bit rough with the other cats in the house, so he would need a tolerant, playful and non-donimant cat as a buddy or he would be perfectly fine being the only animal in the house. Boots is quiet and loyal and loves to follow his human around. Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Meet Boots! Per his namesake, Boots is fond of the Donkey and Ogre variety, but he is also partial towards women (he’s a ladies man) and takes special pride in mothering younger cats and kittens. Boots can sometimes be a little territorial with older male cats, but he’s working on it. An ideal home would be one without dogs, but one that could offer ample access to the senoritas and hopefully a young and energetic cat that Boots could play and wrestle with. After a long day’s work (of play), Boots loves nothing more than to sit on your lap and eat, with the former being a somewhat new activity for him. He will hang out if you stick him on your lap and snuggle with you for hours where he will likely fall asleep. When not occupying your lap, he is but a humble gato in search of his next meal. So, moral of the story, why simply wear boots when you can ADOPT Boots? He’s waiting for you. ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. This Bruce Banner is more like his human namesake than their alter ego. He is a big cat but worry not, he won’t turn into a big green fighting machine and stays in his sweet, lovable cat form. Bruce is incredibly smart, with multiple PhDs, so you may catch him occasionally conducting an experiment or two to answer his latest query, like how small a shoebox can be and still fit a cat. But aside from that, Bruce is ready for a relaxing life, full of head scratches, cat toys and cuddling. He gets along with others and is currently hanging out with his buddy Steve Rogers aka Captain America! Who’s ready to give Bruce the relaxing life he deserves? He did save the world a couple of times, right?! Bruce is an absolute sweetheart (and a big doof) and is guaranteed win over the hearts of anyone in the household. He LOVES attention and loves to cuddle so he constantly chases you around for pets and climbs on top of you when you're laying down. He's a great lapcat and would fit into any household without a problem. __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Her owners moved without her, leaving her alone with no food and water in her house. The landlord found her and felt bad, so kept her, until the landlord's death. The landlord's mother then took Butterscotch in, but she recently was moved to assisted living and Butterscotch was brought to the vet's office to be euthanized. The vet asked them to surrender Butterscotch instead of euthanizing her, and she made the trip to DC. She is a beautiful cat and is always excited to socialize with people. Greeting guests at the door and playing with her toys are among her favorite activities! Butterscotch purrs constantly (when sitting on laps, eating food, or rubbing against your leg). Name: Copeland Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix Gender: Male Age: 1 year old Weight: 55 lbs Personality: quick learner, playful, funny, protective, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, energetic, snuggler, eager to please, good running partner Observations with Dogs: Copeland is anxious when meeting dogs on walks, so he would do better in a quiet, less dense neighborhood. Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats Observations with Kids: Good with kids House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, energetic and loving young dog. He pounces on toys like a champ and is generally a goofy and happy pup. He wants to bring all of his joy to his adopter! He promises to be a good boy if you'll give him lots of treats to help him put on some weight. Copeland has already learned "let's go", "sit", "go to mat", "trade", "go get it", and he is working on "come". He would make a terrific companion for anyone with a house and yard in which he can feel secure and fully express his playful nature. This goofy young boy loves socializing and playing, and he learns new games and commands very quickly. Copeland loves to go running, but he is also great inside. When company is over – including kids – he will make friends instantly and be the life of the party. He loves the outdoors but feels anxious and is reactive to crowded or busy city streets, so a quiet suburban environment would be the best fit for him. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
