About Roo (Courtesy Post)

Adoption Fee: $30

Roo thinks he is a typical kitten.  He runs, wrestles, and chases toys.  However, his front limbs are deformed.  He thinks he can jump up and down things even though it ismuch harder for him so as a kitten he will have to be watched closely.  Eventually he will learn how to get around the house.  He has always been cared for and very loved, and now he needs a forever home.  He is very loving and gives great hugs.  Roo loves other cats.  A very cat-friendly small dog may be okay, but not one that would get too rough or chase him. He cannot get out of the way quickly and cannot defend himself. And truly he loves to be the center of attention. Roo is afraid of children.

Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that Roo is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home.  This means that our exposure to the dog is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet.  If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions.

The suggested adoption donation for Roo is $30, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our animals in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Roo into your home, please begin by submitting the adoption application found on this page.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  If you would like to learn more about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, or donate to our dogs, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com.  We invite you to visit our Facebook Page, and when you visit, please don't forget to Like our Facebook page so that you won’t miss any information about our dogs and events!

Baron is a young, energetic Doberman Pinscher, born 6/1/2018.  He gets along well with other dogs and some cats.  We recommend no children under age 8 since he may topple younger children in his excitement to play. Bo, a calm, tabby was born 12/15/2007.  He is sometimes shy when first meeting new people, but then very friendly with people of all ages once acquainted.   He is territorial with other cats, but does get along with Meow who is being surrendered by the same family.  Although he has no front claws, he is accustomed to being able to go outside for short periods to lay in the sun.  He doesn't wander away and has never stayed outdoors overnight.  Bo needs a new home only because of the allergies of a young  child.  Bo's perfect home is with someone who can give him a lot of love and attention. Bowie is a lovable, Chihuahua was born approximately 11/27/2007.   He needs a very special home due to his age and medical issues.  His medical needs are being attended to.  He has three compressed discs in his neck and bad knees, which are being treated with pain medication and muscle relaxers.  Shortly after he came in to rescue, we discovered a loop earring in his stomach. He had to undergo emergency surgery to get it out.  He is currently being treated for an eye problem and is doing well.  He also has some cognitive deficiencies and cannot move forward all the time like most dogs. He will sometimes circle and get himself stuck.  As a result of his physical pain, he had not been eating and drinking well, but he is now doing much better and is starting to gain weight.  He gets along well with dogs, cats, and children, but he is a very fragile 12 year-old man, currentlly weighing 3.8 lbs.  Despite all of his problems, he has lots of love to give. She has paperwork from the breeder, vet records, and she is microchipped. Brigitta has recently started to show some pain in her hips which could possibly be arthritis.  She is currently on a joint supplement which seems to help. Bubba, the medium haired black cat, was born in September of 2017. This sweet boy is roughly 12 lbs with stunning green eyes. Bubba had a rough start in life, beginning with a hernia since birth and suffering an attack from another cat while living on the streets. The attack resulted in Bubba having claws embedded in both of his shoulders. Since being rescued, Bubba has had surgeries to repair his hernia and remove the embedded claws. Despite his past, Bubba is extremely affectionate with people and loves playing with his toys, especially his ball. He is selective with other cats, most likely because of his experiences of having to defend himself on the streets. However, he may be slowly introduced to another female cat. Bubba needs an indoor home where he will be safe and given lots of love and affection. The suggested adoption donation for Bubba is $35, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our pets in rescue. Buddy, born approximately 12/30/2013, is a lovable Beagle looking for a home with experienced dog owners, preferably with another dog to keep him company and no children. His foster says that he is  an absolute sweetheart who may turn into a grumpy old man if someone tries to take a treasure that he conciders to be his.  He loves the tinkle of the car keys and is a great passenger.  At night, he is snuggler who loves being under the covers.  His ideal home environment is one where he gets lots of love and attention. Being a typical Beagle, he can be vocal at times so he would not do well in an apartment.  Buddy, like all Beagles, loves to follow his nose so a fenced yard is needed. Chase, born in August 2016, is Terrier/Lab (we think) mix looking for a new home. Chase has never shared a space with another dog or been socialized at all so we are recommending no other dogs in the home. He is food aggressive (which includes high value toys, such as bones), and if there are any kids in the home, will need to be watched and old enough to understand not to mess with him while he is eating. With the appropriate positive reinforcement training, time, and experience, Chase will get better. He seems to be a very happy dog, and does tolerate kids, but does seem skittish around other dogs.  He is very friendly when no food is near and loves to cuddle and he would love to be your lap dog, too! He is on high alert when he is in the home and will let you know when someone is on your property with a very loud bark. He will need slow introductions to people who walk into the home and it would be beneficial to teach him "I've got it" and "go" so he knows he can let his guard down. It is important that Chase gets a slow introduction to anything new so he feels comfortable and confident. With the right family and home environment, we believe Chase will gain more confidence and trust. All of these insecurities come from a lack of socialization so "slow and steady wins the race" with this sweet boy!  The suggested adoption donation for Chase is $250, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our dogs in rescue. ChiCh, born April 2013,i is an outstanding cuddler and snuggler and would sit on your lap or lay beside you all day if she could.  She even reaches up and pats your face with her paw when you are holding her. ChiChi would prefer a quiet home where she is the only cat and is an indoor-only pet. She takes a couple weeks to warm up to her human and takes a little time to build trust, but then is fine. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Coco, a Boxer/Staffordshire mix, was born 6/15/2019 so she has good reason to still be very puppy-like. Running, tumbling, and playing with other dogs is great fun!  Chewing is also fun; therefore, it’s best to provide her with appropriate things to chew so she doesn’t look for interesting items on her own.  Coco is slow to trust people, but once she realizes that they mean her no harm, she will likely cuddle right up with them.  This little character is still learning how to "Dog."  To Coco, Fetch = Sleep; Tug-of-War = Sit on feet.  Oddly, she doesn't shake after her bath, instead she prefers to be dried with a towel.  She is funny!   Due to a past experience being hit by a car, Coco is very fearful of cars.  We aren’t certain that Coco has experienced children and cats so she would need to be introduced before being adopted.  She is housebroken when let outside out frequently.  Coco’s perfect home must have a fenced yard, and she would benefit from the company of another social dog.  We recommend no young children. The suggested adoption donation for Coco is $250, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our animals in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Coco into your home, please begin by submitting our adoption application.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. Daisy is a shy, 4-year-old Pomeranian. She loves to be near people and often gets anxious when they are out of sight.  Being held as often as possible and cuddling in bed are Daisy’s idea of heaven.  Other small dogs and cats are comforting for Daisy, and she especially enjoys Buttercup, another Pomeranian who is fostered in the same home.  Coming into rescue from a breeding facility, many things are new to Daisy.  She has not yet mastered going up and down stairs, and she has trouble walking on smooth surfaces.  Running on grass is a new experience.  Daisy is not yet housebroken, but she does well with potty pads.  Daisy’s perfect home will have patient owners who understand that many things are new to her.  We recommend only older children due to Daisy's small size. The suggested adoption donation for Daisy is $350, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our animals in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Daisy into your home, please begin by submitting our adoption application.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. Daisy, an affectionate yellos Lab, is 4-years-old. Although she barks at strangers and is slow to warm up to them, she loves adults and other dogs.   We recommend a home with no children, or only older children.  Daisy is normally easy-going, but is nervous at times. Playing outdoors and going for walks will help her be her best self.  If you are looking for a move-in ready dog, this is your girl.  She is housetrained and crate-trained.  Daisy's ideal home will be with someone who can give her lots of love and attention.  A fenced yard would make it perfectl. She will need multiple meetings and need to be transitioned slowly into her new home. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that a dog is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home.  This means that our exposure to the dog is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet.  If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. Duke, born January 2011. is a Lhasa Apso. He is looking for a new home with an experienced pet owner who understands body language of dogs and who are willing to work on issues like resource guarding. Duke's best home would have a fenced in yard for him to run around in since he LOVES being outside when it's nice! Duke would do best as an only dog but will tolerate other dogs that are around his size or smaller. Duke has some pretty rad guarding skills so if you do have other dogs, it's best to feed them separately. It would also be best to separate if bones or other high value treats are present to avoid any confrontations. Duke loves people but would be best as a dog of older people that don't have kids around often due to his guarding issues. If you think Duke would fit in well with your lifestyle and family dynamics, please fill out an application today! The suggested adoption donation for Duke is $250, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our dogs in rescue. Duke, born approximately February 2016, has had a rough past but fortunately being left behind during a hurricane in Texas was his big break. It was his chance to get to rescue and on to a better life from his previous life of neglect and abuse. Since reaching Omaha, he has been rid of his parasites and heartworms. Duke is now a very healthy 3 year old Rottweiler Shepherd mix. He is learning people can be great and are not around to abuse him any longer. Duke likes to make the first move when he meets new people. He loves women and can be a little more hesitant with men due to his past. He has come to love and trust several men around him as well, but their initial approach needs to be a little slower and so it is not misinterpreted as a threat to him. When he is uncertain of a person he meets, he will back away from them. Duke loves daily walks on trails and in parks. He is very loving and affectionate but does not always know his size. He will back right up and sit in your lap if given a chance, so he can be petted and shown affection. He was used to being the dominant male protector around other dogs. He would do best as an only dog or with a submissive female dog as his dog friend. A home without young children would be best. Duke does better when he can anticipate the behavior of those around him. Children can be very unpredictable. Duke has been very affectionate with many children he has met, but he would be more successful in an adult only home. He does require a six-foot privacy fence. Please consider meeting Duke to see if he could be the perfect fit for your home. He would love to have a family he could call his own! The suggested adoption donation for Duke is $150, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our dogs in rescue. Ella is a cuddly, Black Mouth Cur (born November 2014z0 with lots of energy.  When on a walk, she loves to say hello to those she meets along the way, but she is somewhat intimidated by larger dogs.  Ella has separation anxiety and, when placed in a kennel, she barks and tries to break out.  Because Ella doesn’t understand how big she is, she will do best with only older children that she can’t topple when trying to play with them.  Ella loves to run so her perfect home will have a large, fenced yard.  There should be no young children, and preferably no other pets.  She needs a home with someone who can give her plenty of affection and who won’t mind when Ella tries to be a lap dog.  Ella is house trained. Ember, the German Shepherd/Lab mix, is ready to find her new home! She was born in October of 2017 and has been doing well since returning to foster care. She is looking for a home that is a little quieter because she is learning to trust humans. She would greatly benefit from a calm resident dog to help her gain confidence and reach her full potential...which we think is pretty amazing! If you have children under the age of 14, Ember would not be a great fit for your family due to her insecurities. If you are a patient, consistent person and would be interested in learning more about Ember, apply today! Ember is currently going through a fear stage where she is a little leary of kids. She is working through that with positive reinforcement and treats. She needs to live in a house with a fenced in yard, as she does not understand to stay in her boundaries without a fence but needs room to run! She would also thrive with a new owner who is active and likes to be on the move because she has a lot of energy to burn! The suggested adoption donation for Ember is $350, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our dogs in rescue.  If you would like to welcome the puppy into your home, please begin by submitting our Adoption Application.  The adoptions for all of our dogs will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. Estrella (pronounced Estreya) is a 2-year-old, attention-loving Collie with definite opinions.  For example, squeaky toys don’t impress Estrella, but she loves stuffed animals and crackly water bottles. When given opportunity, Be warned, Estrella enjoys counter surfing and sometimes makes a mess of things she finds. She is shy when meeting new people, prefers women rather than men, and she wants to know when people are approaching her.  Although she knows several commands, this smarty chooses to ignore them unless a treat is offered.  Grooming can be a challenge because Estrella is terrified of water and hates having her backside brushed.  Estella loves going for walks., and her perfect home will have a fenced yard where she can play fetch.  She prefers a female owner who gives lots of belly rubs, love and attention.  Due to her loud bark, apartment life would not work well for her.  She does well with children of all ages and gets along with cats and other dogs. Following is some information from Estrella's foster:   1). No. Men. She's tried to bite Chris a few times and we're working on the fear. She's doing okay if he has treats. She's okay if he's sitting down, but if he's walking around the house or yard, she's all tension, barks at him, and tries to bite his butt when his back is turned. She also did okay with Coleby, Chris's brother in law, last night with treats being thrown whenever she got close to him.  2). Resource guarding. She went after our resident dogs for taking her toy and at meal time. So we are feeding her in the crate and supervising toys. 3). She's okay with playful cats, not so good with elderly, ornery, get off my lawn type cats. No aggression shown. Just curiosity and play bows. I'm not comfortable enough to leave her unattended with them yet, but that might be more me being overly protective of my kitties. 4). Good with dogs her size or bigger. Last vetting was 10/29/19 and she was 62 lbs. She's getting along great with my boy, Duke. Not so much with Zoe, the mini Aussie, who is also a bit of a bully. Estrella takes no guff from her, but given the size difference, we separate them so that nobody gets hurt. 5). Estrella is shy around strangers in general, but warms up quickly to women. She likes to cuddle and play and give kisses. She'll paw at you if you haven't pet her enough to get satisfaction. 6). She appears to be crate trained. We set up the crate for feeding time tonight and she went right in. She also went in when Chris walked through the kitchen so she apparently views it as a safe place. We will be crating her while we are at work as a precaution for now. Once we get more confident and she gets more comfortable, we'll see about giving her free range. She sleeps in the bedroom with us and definitely prefers to be on the bed.  7). She picks up on things really quickly. She hasn't had an accident in the house so safe to say she's potty trained. She's also good on the leash and in the car.  8). Lastly, and most obviously, she's absolutely gorgeous and really sweet. Just LOOK at that face! The suggested adoption donation for Estrella is $450, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our animals in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Estrella into your home, please begin by submitting our adoption application.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person.
