She loves being scratched behind her ears and making biscuits. She particularly like curling next to you on the sofa, gently purring and keeping one of her paws on your lap. She is extremely shy so she needs time to get used to a new space and people. She is in need of a family that loves a quiet cat, and that is ready to be patient with her. She is not very adventurous and she likes routines. If she feels scared or unsafe, she will go under the couch for a while until she feels safe again, and then whe wil come out like nothing happened, and find you for some more cuddles. Autumn sustained some injuries protecting herself and her kittens beore they were brought to the shelter. Her eye will always be glassy and part of her ear is missing.  ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. They would love to be adopted together. Quesadilla's big eyes beg for pets, and her motorboat purr is one of the loudest you'll ever hear! The first day she came home with her foster parents, she fell asleep on her foster moms chest and refused to let nap time end. She is very playful, and knows loves to wrestle with her sister, Tortilla. She loves playing with mice, but hasn't quite figured out how to play fetch yet. For such a little one, she has a very big meow! Quesadilla has had age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. An adopter will need to agree cover costs of spaying when she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as she grows older.  ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. She loves to snuggle almost as much as she loves to wrestle with her sister, Quesadilla. This smart little girl may be tiny, but she is mighty. She loves to sneakily attack her sister (even though she's much smaller). She's a smart one too. When her foster mom demonstrated to her how to use her scratch pad, she immediately started using it! She has the cutest high pitch mew when she hears the wet food can open! I'm Braxton, and it's very nice to meet you! As you can see, I'm just a little guy; my birthday was in May so I'm not very old, and I'm still learning about the world! So I'm very curious and inquisitive, and I like to explore a bit. I am nice to other kitties and I really enjoy playtime, and while I'm usually a quiet little guy, I've been known to sing for my supper now and then. I absolutely love people-- my foster mom says I am an expert snuggler, especially when it comes to my human brother. Foster mom also says I am super super sweet, very friendly and totally affectionate, and I tend to agree. In fact, I think I'd make a great lap cat and I'm already practicing my purring! Now all I need is a nice warm lap to curl up on and a human or three to call my own. I promise to be the very best boy if you make me part of your family! Apply for me now. ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. He lost his eye in an epic battle for the universe (he actually was hit by a car and his eye was badly damaged). This guy is a total goofball who is full of personality. When he isn't playing, he can be found stretched out napping on the couch. If you are nearby during nap time, he will snuggle up in your lap and fall right asleep! Chunky Thor will walk around the house purring at everything he sees and often will meow back when he knows you're talking to him. House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, energetic and loving young dog. Copeland has already learned "let's go", "sit", "go to mat", "trade", "go get it", and he is working on "come". He would make a terrific companion for anyone with a house and yard in which he can feel secure and fully express his playful nature. Dolly was a great mom and now she's ready to take her guitar and head out on her own to find her forever family. She is very sweet and loves human attention. Dolly gets along with other cats with proper introductions. She is BFF with another single mom Tammy, and they would love to be adopted together if you are looking for a pair. Dolly is very soft and loves to be petted and brushed.  ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
