About Van Go

Van is a proud, loyal, charming Survivor, and once he identified all of us at The REAL Bark as his temporary family - we earned a friend for life. He is a 5 year old BEAUTY - handsome as ever and is ready to show you what an incredible pup he will be in his new home. Sadly, Van came from an abusive home. A 'family ' had him for over five years and then dumped him in the shelter when they had to move. He is missing one ear - hence his name - and we do not know if it was cut off by them, or what preceeded his arrival to our rescue. Some dogs are non-discriminate in so far as running up to everyone, and jumping all over them. Because Van was not socialized, growing up, he watches to make certain folks are friendly, and then reveal himself, step by step. He does well with structure and good leadership. He is enthusiastically fond of many of his familiar handlers and friends. Van LOVES his walks and hikes. While he has dog friends that he has come to know through our rescue, we think it is best that he be in an only dog home with a stronger compassionate leader, as he does best when he loyally take on direction of his human friend. Van's ideal person//people are active, smart, and compassionate humans, that are less interested in a dog park dog, as they are a Companion for their walks, and treks. If you think you are the right fit for this wonderful boy, send us an email and we will set up the meeting pronto.

THIS IS A GUEST POST: Please contact staciwitt@sbcglobal.net directly if interested in meeting this adoptable pup. Magic is a super sweet boy who is super friendly with people, and is very gentle with all humans. He would be great with older children 13+. If he were in a room with 15 people, he would be the life of the party, showering everyone with his smile, affection and kisses!!! He loves nothing more than to be next to his favorite humans' side and also understands when to give them space. Some of his favorite things to pass the time include eating, getting pets and massages, sunbathing, and grooving to reggae music. He's a quiet soul, rarely barks and does not have any destructive tendencies. He has medium to low energy with a very chill personality, so wouldn't mind a couch potato friend, but also can enjoy his regular walks. His past spinal injury has not kept him from any activity, but because he is a mellow fellow, couching the potato is not a bad pasttime for him. Magic would do very well in either a home with a yard or a condo or an apartment, and someone who can keep him on a regular feeding and walking schedule. He also would be best as the only dog in the home - no cats. Routine activity is beneficial to keeping him on a regular regimen post-spinal injury. And minimal activity is fine for this big boy. He would be a fantastic loving constant companion for anyone!!! If interested in learning more or meeting this fine boy, please contact: staciwitt@sbcglobal.net. show less

Little Mia had a rough start in life before finding herself stray as a young pup, where her environment was likely not so nice to her, but that is now all in the past. At about 1 years old, she is healthy, has a good appetite and is finding her confidence now that she is in a very safe place and being loved. She now enjoys her walks especially with another furry friend, and may be a bit shy with strangers, but warms up when she feels safe as she continues to learn to trust the big world. She is great with dogs of all sizes, loves playing with them, and also has good doggie social skills, and is finding her puppy playful self very enjoyable (she very much instigates play with other playful dogs). She is a quiet girl, rarely barks, thoroughly enjoys playing "fetch the ball" and has learned the joy of cuddling with her human buddies. She would do best in a home with another dog (or multiple dogs), and a loving environment where her human friends are home more often than not. A private safe enclosed small backyard or patio is a plus, and she would be fine in an apartment or condo with lots of daily multiple walks. With that, she is 100% housetrained, and has just gained enough confidence to do her business on her walks rather than just a private area in a backyard. If you think you can provide this very cute and special nugget the time, love, trust, patience and security, she will grow into a wonderful confident adult! She listens to her environmental cues very well, and is eager to please! show less

THIS IS A GUEST POST - for more information please write juliefeiner@yahoo.com. Penny is a gorgeous, copper-colored Chihuahua who’s beloved owner just passed away. She is 12 years old, loving and loyal - would not leave her owner’s bedside during her long illness. Penny is house-trained to use a doggie-door and is fine with cats and other non-aggressive dogs, but mainly co-exists - she especially wants to bond with her owner/s, so would be a fantastic constant companion for her best 2-legged buddy. She may be abit shy at first and could be startled with quick movement so a quiet calm home without small children would be a great fit. Penny enjoys daily walks and cuddling and will make contented purring noises and give kisses when she’s happy. When excited she’ll spin and jump up with joy! She weighs just under 10 pounds, is spayed, and current with all her vaccines. She just had a full check-up and all necessary dental work with a few teeth extracted so she is ready to go! Penny has been through alot and deserves a great quiet loving and safe home to spend the next chapter in her life, and will be the most loving companion anyone could imagine. The love you give her will boomerang back to you ten-fold! THIS IS A GUEST POST - for more information please write juliefeiner@yahoo.com. show less

THIS IS A GUEST POST - PLEASE READ AND CONTACT EMILY LEPONE DIRECTLY AT ealepone@gmail.com for more information OR use this link for submitting an adoption application for Skippy!! http://bit.ly/AnimalAdoptApp Skippy is an 80 lb beautiful 3 year old Shepherd mix. He is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, house and crate trained. He loves hiking & playing outdoors. Because he is big, bouncy and active, he would be best in a home with children who are older than 12 as we are still working on his manners and excitement to play. He enjoys other dogs, and is still learning the world of cats - probably best that he goes in a home without any cats at this time! Skippy sleeps very well inside his crate, and is generally comfortable in it, which is a good option for his future home. Being 80 lbs, it's great to have a crate time for opportune times. He would love a yard with safe fencing, or good times going walking and hiking with his future human friends. He is very eager to please and being a big boy, should go into a home with seasoned dog people. He will easily bond well with the right family!!!
