About Anabel

DOB: 4/2013 Anabel just came back from a 2 year adoption, through no fault of her own. She's overcoming the resulting shyness very well. Originally found in the street, she thrives on love and attention, purrs, sleeps and cuddles with her foster mama, and comes running to greet you at the door. She's exceptionally large, especially long, and with her striking markings and big eyes we believe she's a good part Bengal. When she lived here before she would stand up, put her paws around the round doorknob, and open the door! She can be an only cat, but with careful introduction should be able to accept a companion. She's not an alpha cat at all. We want to be sure that, after all the changes she's been through, her next adoption will be the last. She loves young foster kittens If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 5/14/19 Alex is a snuggly purr machine! She can often be heard purring from across the room! She is sweet, social, confident and smart. Overall she is a mellow, easy going, chill kitten who loves people and animals. Alex loves to explore and play with her sisters. She loves toys - some of her favorites are feather wands, boxes, tunnels and any kind of ball toy. If you don’t have any cat toys around your house she will happily come up with her own ideas, turning seemingly regular things, like a wine cork, into the best toys ever. If she can, she will carry her toys around in her mouth. She can usually be found chasing or wrestling with her siblings or cuddled up for a nap. When she is sleepy, she’ll happily curl up in your lap or next to you and loudly purr herself to sleep. Like her sisters, she is a fan of sleeping on her back with her adorable belly polka-dots on full display. Alex and her sisters are quite unique since only 20% of all orange tabbies are female. She has a beautiful tabby swirl pattern on her sides and very expressive eyes. This sweet girl can’t wait to find her forever home and start bonding with her new family. Alex and her sister, Lorna, would love to be adopted together. They get along great with mellow dogs, older cats and kids! DOB:  4/27/19 Ok, so she is cute as cute can be and has a fun, outgoing personality, but we know that people are going to ask about that ear. Well, we don't know exactly what happened, but she got some sort of trauma to it somehow and wound up at the pound with a lacerated ear with necrotic tissue that needed to be treated. In the end, she still has some of her ear left, but it just looks a little different. But that does that matter? Nope. She is still just as cute as whatever  the metaphor is for something REALLY cute. This girl adapted pretty quickly to some bigger kittens that now treat her like she is one of their litter. We're throwing in a picture of her when she had her bandage on because - c'mon. Ya gotta see that! DOB: 8/28/18 Anastasia and her siblings were rescued from the LA City Shelter system as underage kittens.  She is super sweet with soft gray and peach fur and pretty hazel eyes.  Anastasia has a peach flame on her forehead, rising from above her eyes.  Anastasia is a quiet kitten with calm energy, but also likes to gently play with her siblings.  She loves to cuddle on the couch, and adores pillows and beds on the floor.  She is likely to be a very chill, easy going cat as she grows up with a hint of a leader. Anastasia must be adopted either with a buddy or to a home with another kitty. She is great with kids and would be an amazing addition to any household. DOB: 5/14/2012Arwen is a gorgeous little brown tabby and white girl with soft golden eyes.  This sweet girl was rescued from death along with her 4 less than 1 week old kittens.  The shelter had planned to kill the entire family but they were spared and brought to foster care just in the nick of time.  Arwen was in desperate shape, little more than skin and bones, and unable to care for her kittens.  She was weak, scared, and depressed.  The 4 babies were sent to a bottle feeder where they flourished and Arwen spent a solid week being syringe fed as she lacked the energy and motivation to even eat.  Time brought healing and as Arwen began to put on weight, she also began to take an interest in life again.  Arwen has made some tremendous strides forward and her progress in her new foster home has been lovely to experience. When first rescued and brought back to health she was really afraid of hands. She was always very happy to see her foster mom and would roll around asking for pets, but she was still afraid of human hands.  After a couple of pets she would swat at the hand with just her pads, no claws.Arwen is now out and about playing with the other felines in her foster home. She has four playmates, and she loves them all! She has never, even from the very first time, hissed or growled at another cat. Even at the adoption events that are stressful in nature, she has never hissed at another cat. She is very playful and runs around with the 6 months old kittens, (it's a good match- she's a small cat!). From time to time the two neighborhood feral cats come in to say hi; they're all friends and Arwen is very curious about them.  Plus, it looks like sweet little Arwen has found herself a boyfriend- at least he thinks so!  It's endearing to witness. It's easy to see that the guys would like her; she prances around being light on her feet when she walks and run! She no longer is afraid of hands, as long as the hands don't make quick, rushed, and erratic movements, she loves, loves, loves to be petted, and she will purr up a storm if you let her.  She is still afraid of an erect body and a human body coming towards her, but even here she has changed dramatically with each passing day. Especially if she's up high on a cat tree or kitchen counter or the like, she has no problem with a body walking towards her. As a matter of fact, then she seeks out your hand for pets! Lately, Arwen has started to really want the human presence. Instead of running away, she has followed her foster parent around from room to room in the house; not glued to the heals, but all of a sudden she has appeared in the same room. Her foster mom was positively surprised the other day when her roommate told her that Arwen had come into the kitchen and rubbed against her legs, even though the roommate was fully standing up making tea. Later when the roommate was on the couch, Arwen came up next to her and rubbed her head against the roommates hand. Arwen needs patience, love, and understanding as she continues to recover from whatever made her so terribly scared.  Arwen would be best suited in a calm, quiet household where she can feel secure and safe.  If you're looking for a kitty who is low maintenance, but is a good playmate for your cat, Arwen would be your cat!  Arwen would not do well with children at this point in time, and wants a dog free home. Arwen is fixed, tested for FIV/Felv, microchipped, dewormed, flea treated, and up to date on vaccines. If you are interested in learning more about Arwen or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 4/5/19 Astro is a complete sweetie pie with a soft black coat and beautiful big yellow eyes. She loves to play and explore. A very adventurous and confident kitty, she is laser-focused on play-hunting but once she's done she loves to have her back and belly rubbed. Very independent, she’s good at playing on her own or with her siblings and then coming in for some love and affection around nap time. You’ll hear a healthy purr while she’s getting attention (or any time you touch her!) and some very cute mewing when she’s exploring or if she wants you to join her in another room for some affection! Often can be found curled with her sister Josephine—they’d love to be adopted together but she would also do well in a home with another energetic kitten or younger cat she can play with! DOB: 8/20/12 Aziza was one of our original cat moms on our Explore.org camera room. She and her kittens had many fans and everyone was thrilled when she was adopted! Fast forward 6 years, and Kitten Rescue received an alert that Aziza was at one of the city shelter's. Unfortunately, her adopter never reclaimed her and she came to the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary.    Aziza is an easy going, affectionate cat who doesn't mind other cats. She doesn't engage with them to groom, or nap or play, but she is not aggressive toward them. She would be just as happy to be an only kitty as well. Aziza loves to get attention and will give love nibbles to your fingers sometimes. She will also swat at you if stop petting her before she thinks the pet session is done. He’ll come when you call him, “Beam!”  He makes an adorable chirping sound. Beamish needs a little extra care. DOB: 5/2014 Beatrice and her siblings, Skeeter, Potter and Pippi were  all rescued from the pound when they were going to be killed.  They all fell in love with their foster mom's dogs as soon as they met them, so it's a pretty safe bet they were born into a home with dogs. Beatrice is sweet and playful but not a cuddler. A little shy at first but then wants to play.  This adorable girl LOVES, LOVES, LOVES dogs!!!  She is on the quieter side. She really needs to be with a dog and hopefully a cat, too.  She likes to sleep in the middle of the dogs. As much as she loves dogs, she also loves other cats and has lots of play in her.  She does like belly rubs. She loves older kids and likes nothing better than to have someone sit on the floor and play with her.  If you sit on the floor, she will come right to you!  She is getting lost in the shuffle of her busy foster home and not getting enough attention. Beatrice is a little reluctant around new people. She much prefers the company of dogs and at least one of her siblings. She loves to find new things to entertain herself around the house and is a funny personality for those who don’t want a cat who likes to be cuddled. She will come to you if you are on the computer and definitely when you are eating!! She loves treats.  She will also come if you sit on the floor and give her a second or two to check you out. https://drive.google.com/folder/d/0B1WCGx0vQ2HTNllydnI4UFBlNlU/edit If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. As long you provide her with some cuddle time, wet food, cat toys and a comfortable place to nap, she is a happy girl.  She has a sweet, gentle personality and is eager to find a forever home that will give her lots of love.  Beauty spends her days playing with her foster sister (Ebony - CF8832), exploring, eating and napping, but not necessarily in that order.  She is a young kitty so she needs to be adopted together with one of her foster siblings (Ebony - CF8832),) or into a home with an existing kitty she can play and nap with, while her humans are away.  If you are interested in meeting Beauty and seeing how adorable she is, her foster mom is happy to arrange a playdate.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 5/1/07 Boots is an interesting character. She was in a home with someone until she was 7 years old and was then returned to Kitten Rescue when her human decided to move to a building that didn't take pets. Boy oh boy, Boots did not take that move well. She acted feral and hissed and growled at everyone and for a long time we thought she hated other cats, too. She initially bonded very strongly with one of our caretakers. Recently she has taken to others and is able to be out and about with the other cats at the sanctuary, but she is still not very happy that they exist. DOB: 7/1/17 Hi there, my name is Bunny because I have such soft, fluffy fur. I was an outdoor stray most of my life until I got pregnant and these nice people took my babies and me in. It takes me a little while to warm up to new humans, but once I do I love cuddles and will head-butt for more! I love other cats and made friends with all the cats in my new home right away. I also love, love, love my foster’s catio where I can feel the wind through my fur and pretend that I am still a scrappy stray — adventure every day, living by my wits alone! And then I can go inside, have some nice food, and relax in the AC. It’s the best of both worlds! I would do well as an only cat in a quiet house where I could come out of my shell and really bond with a human, or as a cat friend to a kitty who recently lost a close kitty friend. My favorite cat at my foster home is another cat who also gets along with all cats. We really get into kissing and cuddling together. I’m told that it's kind of over the top If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. Candy used to be quite shy when she met new people but she has grown into a confident kitty and likes to meet new people because she knows they will pet her and give her attention. DOB:  3/1/2003 Look at that sweet tough guy face! I call him Cappy since he seems like he is 'the captain in charge'. Although Cappy has had a rough & tumble life, you would never know it from his personality. He is just a big, loving, extremely easy going kitty. (He would make a great couch potato companion.) After an exhausting evening of watching TV, this handsome orange and white fellow will head butt you and then sleep quietly at the foot of the bed. He loves to have his fur brushed and will roll over to show you his pure joy (and his cute tummy!). Cappy is a low maintenance type of kitty - not one of those hyper youngsters! He is an adult cat but has many, many years to give companionship and love to some lucky person. He does like to be 'king of the castle' so he can be an only kitty or could go to a home with a non-alpha, gentle resident kitty. He is dog-friendly. Cappy is a special kitty - he has FIV, which is not a big deal. Given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will have the same lifespan as any other indoor cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact, typically from a deep puncture wound. It cannot be transmitted to humans.  Click here to read an excellent article about FIV. Cappy has spent too many years looking for a loving home. If you can offer this sweet deserving kitty some love and attention, please email his foster Mom. DOB: 9/7/10Cappy is an affectionate, smart, energetic cat who is playful and fun. Absolutely devoted to playtime, Cappy will happily bat around spiral toys as if playing ice hockey. Up and down the hallway he’ll slide, using his left leg and then his right to score a goal.  He’ll jump. He’ll fall. He’ll fearlessly throw his body against a wall. Then shake it off and get back into the game. In fact, Cappy would rather play than eat which keeps him on the slim side. He is a curious kitty who explores on his own, as if hunting or in search of his next adventure.  When Cappy misplaces his pucks (I mean toys), we hunt for them together.  I move the big furniture and Cappy runs behind each one to check. It’s almost a game in itself. Cappy’s wide-eyed expression is sure to make you smile. Scoop him up and kiss his belly. He’ll purr and snuggle and then be off again.  Arrange to meet Cappy soon.  He’s everything you are looking for.If you are interested in learning more about Cappy or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 2/1/11 Captain is a sweet boy who was dumped at a feral colony by his previous owners and attacked by other cats.  He contracted FIV, but he is very healthy otherwise.  Captain is eight years old, and just wants love!  He adores lounging around next to his human all day, napping and just being chill. Given a healthy diet and living indoors only, he will live a long, normal and healthy life. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissible to humans.  Sweet Captain deserves a loving forever home after all the suffering he's been through on the streets! Click here for a basic FAQ about FIV. DOB: 7/7/18 Cate and her 2 siblings, Orlando and Live, were pulled from a shelter at age 6 weeks. After being fixed, they went to another foster, and took just 1 day to start being at home, loving on their new foster mama and new foster siblings. Cate is super playful and affectionate, and watched carefully for a day before she started accepting us. She purrs to the touch. She's lovely with her dilute (pale) calico/torbie (tabby + calico) coloring. Because she's so young, she needs another kitten to be with. One of her siblings is perfect, or perhaps you have a young cat who needs a companion? That would be good, too. Mr Green and Cate have fallen in love and are now bonded. DOB: 8/30/2017 Charlie is a 2 year old medium haired buff colored boy. He is sweet and active, just as a young fellow should be. He was found in deplorable conditions but that has not dampened his enthusiasm for life. He believes a great home is waiting for him. He likes to play with toys such as the fishing pole toy or the Star Chaser. He is really good at that. And his favorite time is mealtime. He is not a picky eater – he just loves food! He gets so excited! He is a fairly active fellow but he does like to chill out at night and groom himself and then fall asleep in the cat tree. Maybe, once he gets comfortable, he will sleep in bed with you. Charlie is a smaller fellow – just 8 pounds with a beautiful buff coat – his tail is a little fluffy. His eyes are green/gold. This sweet boy had a rough beginning in life but he is starting to blossom and is learning to love kisses and petting. He would do best in a home where he could be the alpha kitty. Or he could be an only cat – king of the castle! DOB: 5/22/18 Chico aka Chico Chonky is your quintessential, lovable rouge.  When this fearless leader is not rabble rousing the troops to play play play you can find him face and sometimes feet deep in his food bowl. This kitten can eat…and eat…and eat some more. He loves food, any and all, though he is not a man of discerning culinary tastes he makes a fine dinner companion.  He would probably say he needs all that food so he can grow into his feet, which are the size of a small puppies and look like tiny catchers mitts when he plays. Which second to food is his favorite thing to do.  Chico also enjoys “helping” around the house.  He seems to have a preference for laundry, although I have yet to see him fold a single shirt. He loves unmaking beds while you make them and dishwashers are often a source of entertainment for Chico.  It’s like having your very own project manager. Chico enjoys the company of other cats as well, including a resident 3 yr old male in his foster home. Who if truth be told can be a grumpy old puss, but that doesn’t stop Chico Chonky! Like Don Quijote fought windmills this kitten will stare down the vacuum cleaner and with stand the snubs and abuses of other cats with aplomb. He would make an excellent companion cat for a home with other pets.  He will wear them down with his rascal charm and loving spirit. Because at the core of this kitten is a big soft heart that loyally commits to his tribe.  This makes him somewhat shy in new social situations and with new people.  He is still curious with new folks, he certainly NEVER hides-he’s too nosey and playful for that- he just won’t go jumping into the laps of any old guy or gal. He’s too discerning for all that, and keeps his cards close to his big loyal lovable heart.  But once you bond it’s all over-Chico Chonky is your buddy for life. He’d probably say it isn’t the quantity of friends you have it’s the quality.  That is if he could speak, which of course, he can’t. But he has learned some pretty cool new tricks like sit, and paw, and jump…so who knows maybe down the road he’ll surprise you. : } For more photos and to contact regarding adoption please feel free to message me at https://www.instagram.com/thevaleriecruz/ or valeriesadoptables@gmail.com  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 3/14/19 Chiff Chaff  and his 6 identical siblings were pulled from a shelter at age 2 1/2 weeks, so they probably did have some mama's milk. They were all bottle fed at the Kitten Rescue Nursery, and are now in foster care, fully weaned, learning about how to live in a house with other cats of all ages. They are extremely playful, both with the brother and with the younger foster sister and young adult foster cats. Play, play, play! then eat, eat, eat! and sleep. Of course there's lots of purring and loving to do with their people, too. If you enjoy glamorous black cats, then  Chiff Chaff is for you. Clint is a quiet little boy who needs a calm, relaxed home where he can thrive.  He will cuddle on the bed and couch with you, gently chewing and licking your fingers, and will go bananas for interactive play!  He’s not the kind of cat who will greet strangers at the door, but give him time to get to know you and you will have a sweet, precious companion.  Clint is a fantastic little boy who deserves an amazing home! DOB: 2014 Cody wears a big heart shaped mark on his side. It can't be any clearer that this 4 year old boy is an absolute Sweetheart! He had a tough life until he was rescued and he couldn't be more grateful. Cody is a very friendly & gentle giant and he just loves to be part of family living. He loves his foster cat friends (Bizou & Benny & Peter) and makes the best friend to cats & humans. He has a very good appetite and enjoys his wet food meals and dry food. He is very well behaved & clean. There is something really special about Cody! He looks at you and is trying to communicate and he follows around the house like the best buddy would do. When interested people meet Cody, they are smitten by his amazing personality and that he can be held like a baby but the moment they hear that Cody is FIV positive, they turn away, not realizing that they just met one of the greatest cats alive!!! Cody  is very healthy and can live a very long life if getting good care & love in a nice indoor home. His foster parent will gladly explain FIV in Cats. There is no reason to turn away from Cody if opening ears, eyes & heart to him.  He lives with many other cats and gets along well with them so he could be adopted into a home with other cats or as a single. Cats with FIV+ often gets passed over because people feel worried about the diagnosis. However, given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat and it requires direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). DOB:  7/4/18 Hi, meet Colby!  Colby had a home but then found himself living on the mean streets of LA.  Some wonderful 6th graders scooped him up and took him to their teacher, and in turn, she hooked him up with Kitten Rescue LA. Colby has been in foster care for the last month and absolutely loves living the indoor life again.  A constant food source, cushy beds, and human servants are exactly how he wants to live his life.  Colby is a super sweet boy, great with other cats, but hasn’t been exposed to dogs.  He doesn’t care too much about that though, as he really loves just hanging out with humans.  He liked the little 6th graders that saved him, so would enjoy a home with kids.  He’d love a family that would play and cuddle with him, and hopefully, even have someone at home most of the day to keep him company.   Colby has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. DOB:  3/1/08 Look at Cookie’s sweet face! This sweet healthy kitty has an endearing head tilt and a wobbly little walk, left over from an ear infection as a baby. She looks like she is watching you intently, ready to ask a question. Her fur is soft - grey and white with a white tip on her tail. She was rescued from a mechanics yard as a baby. She loves to have her ears and chin rubbed. As I sit watching TV she comes over and looks up at me intently. That means she wants to be petted - her ears are the favorite spot. She will roll over on her back, showing her tummy to tell me how happy she is. Her favorite sleeping place is a soft bench in my living room. And she loves to accompany me to the bathroom in case I get lonely in there. She also loves to play with toys - tossing the furry mouse high in the air. Then she grabs it and off she goes, running with it. She gets along fine with other cats as long as they are docile and will not threaten her. Cookie is a low maintenance type of kitty. She has had a hard knock life and is just looking for a loving home.  If you are interested in learning more about Cookie or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. His favorite toys are the Star Chaser and the Undercover Mouse - he seems to love toys that go around & around. Coop is also fascinated by TV & likes to sit on the arm of the sofa watching it (does not seem to have a show that he favors). He also loves to watch the moths flying against the window at night. He meows at them but I am not sure what he is saying. As you can see, Coop is a handsome Turkish Van mix. His fur is short & sleek - very soft. His eyes are a stunning light blue green. DOB:  6/19/12 Dakota is a chill dude with a short, crooked tail.  He likes to hang out and observe his environment,  but he always down for playing with any type of string toy. Dakota tolerates brushing and petting to an extent, being more on the independent side vs. wanting to glue himself to a human. Dakota's ideal person would have some experience with cats and would give him a chance to relax into his environment.  Though we haven't seen him get involved in mutual grooming sessions, he does get along with most cats and could do well in a home where he was the only kitty or could share the space with other cat tolerant cats. DOB: 4/22/16 Please meet Delphine, a sweetheart of an Abyssinian tabby, ('Abby-Tabby!'), mix.  'Del' is an independent and expressive young lady, especially after 'capturing' a favorite toy.  Delphine loves exploring and discovering that perfect, cozy nook where she can nap or just watch you work.  While not a lap cat, Del enjoys being wherever you are! In a show of kindness, Del several times presented her toys to another kitty for whom Del's foster mum is caring.  The other kitty, named Florence, is extremely shy, but once she touched noses with Delphine, the two were fast friends!  Both cats love playing together and chasing each other around their foster's home. Once a young mum herself, all of Delphine's kittens have been adopted, and now it's this lovely lady's turn to greet you when you return home, (usually with a favored toy), and become your forever companion. Ebony likes to keep herself busy playing, chasing and wrestling with her foster siblings (Beauty - CF8831), entertaining herself with cat toys (or her tail), getting lots of yummy wet food, taking naps and cuddling with her human.  Ebony would do best adopted together with one of her foster siblings (Beauty - CF8831) or into a home with an existing kitty she can play with.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 3/5/19 Edward, best known as Tippy Tail for the white tip on his tail, was rescued from the LA City Shelter with his siblings as bottle babies.  Tippy Tail is an adventurous, boisterous, leader of his litter.  The biggest kitten, he has always been the first one to explore, the first to try something new, and the first to claim a toy.  He is hilarious with toys, growling over them and carrying them around the house.  He will purr like crazy when pet, and sleeps on the bed with you. Tippy Tail needs a feline buddy in his home and can be adopted with any of his siblings or foster friends.  He is a fun loving kitty and likely to be a larger kitty with a very sweet personality.  Tippy Tail cannot wait to find his forever family! DOB: 4/6/17 Enzo Ferrari is a precocious, playful, sweet, affectionate little sweetheart who loves to be petted and held. A bottle baby from our nursery, Enzo has always been around humans and is consequently very affectionate with them. He loves other cats and kittens and wants to be friends with everyone – he gets very lonely if he doesn’t have some buddies to play with. He loves to pounce and play and wrestle with his foster mates. Enzo was born with hydrocephalus – a neurological condition where spinal fluid accumulates on the brain. His condition is currently controlled by two medications which he takes daily and his neurologist says his prognosis is great - there is no reason he cannot live a high quality normal length life. Due to his condition, Enzo is completely blind and has some “interesting” habits, like walking in circles and attacking the air. His MRI shows that one side of his brain is fine while the other has some abnormalities in the areas that control motor function and learning, which explains some of his odd habits and the fact that it takes little Enzo a wee bit longer than it might take a 'normal' cat to figure some things out. Enzo uses the litter pan, but must be given a little time to learn in a new environment. For instance, when coming to foster, we started him in a small bathroom where he would go on the floor on wee wee pads NEXT to the litter pan at first and then within a few days was using the pan. The same applied when we opened his space up - he found the wee pads next to the litter pan in the big room first and then figured out to do his business IN the pan. Since then, he has been completely consistent. He just needs a little time and patience :). He can be startled by loud and unfamiliar noises, so a relatively quiet home without small children and without noisy energetic dogs is best. He’s perfectly fine with crazy energetic kittens and cats, though.  For more information about Enzo and/or Hydrocephalus in cats, please email Enzo’s foster or visit http://www.vetstreet.com/care/hydrocephalus-in-cats-and-dogsIf you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 4/13/19 Hi, I am Fabulous Faith, but please call me Fab.  My sister and I were rescued from a shelter when we were just a few days old so we were bottle fed in the nursery at Kitten Rescue.  When we got big enough, we got to move in with our foster mom who has two cats that have taught us how to be properly behaved kittens and how to be extra cute. I have mastered purring the minute a human picks me up and when I get tired, I just climb right up on the nearest lap for snuggles and a nap.  I have the softest fur ever! Since I am a millennial kitten, I have mastered all cat games on the iPad, but my favorite toy is probably my sister's tail.  Even though I prefer playing with the other cats, sometimes I just wander off and pick a toy out of the toy box and get busy entertaining myself to make the humans smile.  I like smiling, you can see it in my picture.  I like climbing the kitty condo tree and observing the kingdom below me while relaxing and planning out my next play session.  And finally, well, I give good kisses, but you'll have to adopt me to find out for yourself. I need another young kitten or cat to play with, I CAN NOT be the only feline in a household, besides two is always better than one right?   If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 9/15/2010Fairfax is kind of a weirdo. On the one hand, she can be a really sweet and extremely talkative girl who gets so excited for pets that she chirps and flops around and drools with delight while purring like an outboard motor. On the other hand, she is extremely jumpy and skittish - sudden movements, walking towards her when she is on the ground or loud noises will send her under the couch. This isn't a factor of her upbringing - she was rescued from a municipal shelter as a tiny kitten and handled a lot when she was young - this is just how she is hard wired. This explains why she is still in foster care after all this time. She hides when strangers come to the house, so she can't be home shown. If her foster dad is able to grab her and bring her to a weekend adoption event, she sits in abject terror waiting for it to end, usually burrowing and hiding under the blanket in the first ten minutes and not moving until it's time to go home. It will take a leap of faith for someone to give Fairfax a home. On the plus side, she is very cat friendly, has been raised in a home with dogs and when she is in an affectionate mood she is almost manic in how sweet she is. But, it's not going to be reasonable to expect her to settle down and become a traditional lazy lap cat. She is who she is, and it is very quirky and rather endearing, but a bit unusual. She is, thankfully, extremely well behaved and in good health. So, with all of those caveats, if you are open to the possibility of giving her a home, please click here to email her foster dad, or visit our website at www.kittenrescue.org and fill out our Contact form and ask for her by name. DOB: 4/22/16 Florence, ('Flo Kitty'), is an extremely shy, reserved kitty who loves taking treats from your hand.  Florence is  very expressive when it is mealtime, and will always let know when she's hungry, (no shyness about that!) Florence is very playful; she loves chasing her toys and Delphine,  a sweetheart of an Abyssinian tabby mix, with whom Flo Kitty is best friends.  Florence also enjoys playing independently with her favorite ping-pong balls and catnip toys. Flo is an owner surrender cat, so we are uncertain of the cause of her shyness, but she is a very sweet girl who is still just a bit unsure about people.  Thought not a lap cat, Florence enjoys being near wherever her foster mum and Delphine are! Florence would best thrive in a quiet home where her adopter is experienced with shy cats and who is willing to be very patient for the rewards of profound love this beautiful cat will surely bestow upon her forever companion. DOB: 6/20/2003 This gorgeous, lovely girl needs a new home after losing the one she had. Gilda is accustomed to being alone during the day and could be content in a one-cat household. Gilda was trapped as a kitten while living with a feral group on the edge of a schoolyard. She was not wild, however, and ready to play as soon as released. She had been attacked by some other animal and had deep wounds on her face and neck. With antibiotics she healed completely without scarring. Gilda is a glamour girl as cats go. She knows, it seems, how beautiful she is, and plays the prima donna among the other cats in her foster home. She is a spirited cat—active, alert and curious. She loves to 'help' with any house-hold activity underway, especially at the computer, then cuddle on the sofa for TV time.   She was adopted shortly after being rescued, but sadly for her, was returned when her adopter received a job assignment requiring stays in Europe. Gilda was confused and upset at losing what she thought was her forever home. She has regained her composure and is in need of another home where she can feel secure and loved again. She is still a sweet, affectionate cat, and as lovely as ever. If you are interested in learning more about Gilda, please email her foster mom.If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 3/17/08 Grace “Gracie” Kelly is a special girl. At only 5 weeks old, was rescued from death row with her siblings the day they were sentenced to be euthanized. Gracie has lived with one of her sisters and her brother her whole life…while her brother was adopted back in 2008, Gracie and Greta continue to wait for their forever home. Gracie is a curious kitty but she is also a little skittish, although not as much as her sister Greta Garbo. Gracie spends a lot of her time curled up on the bathroom rug and when not there she can usually be found on the bed (or under it). She wants to know what’s going on but at the same time is a little scared of what that might be. She loves toys (she will sometimes talk while playing) and gets along with most kitties (she loves her big foster brother). Gracie is a bit of an over-groomer, she has licked off most the fur on her lower belly, but other than that she is a happy, lovable girl. Because of her specialness, she continues to be in foster care. DOB: 3/17/08 Greta Garbo is a special kitty. At only 5 weeks old, she was rescued from death row with her siblings the day they were sentenced to be euthanized. Greta was adopted as a kitten but was found a little over a year later in the Angeles Crest National Forest in a carrier, luckily a good samaritan found her and she was scanned for a chip, they called Kitten Rescue and she returned to her former foster home with her siblings. Greta is a sweet petite kitty but she is skittish. She spends most of her time hiding under the bed or the couch, but she does come out and will sleep on the bed and play with toys. She gets along with most other kitties but does not like dogs, they scare her. She can be a little fussy with her attention, she likes her chin scratched and is a bit of a talker when given attention, but she doesn’t like to be touched in certain spots but she will let you know with a warning. When her foster mom has tried to take her to adoption events she hyperventilates and hides. Because of all of this she continues to be in foster care. DOB: 5/5/14 Henri is a quiet, gentle kitty who would love to have a quiet home to call his own, with a patient human who will take the time to give Henri love and attention. Henri was returned because his owners described him as hiding and being anxious, though he had a very close bond with the 12 year old son in the home. While Henri is not confident around the many cats at the sanctuary, when our volunteers give him one on one attention, telling him what a splendid kitty he is, Henri responds with elevator butt and it is clear that he really, really enjoys getting affection. DOB: 8/23/17 Here are two handsome, year old tabby brothers, Jack and Max, who would love to find their forever home with you. Max, the smaller of the two kitties, is extremely sweet and affectionate.  Max loves playing and racing with brother Jack all round their foster mom’s house to see who can climb the cat tree fastest, and fall asleep first. When not scouting new napping spots, Max is most content observing everything from their cat tree beside the window, or joining Jack to relax on a sun filled window sill. Jack, the “big brother,” is also very sweet, and loves playing fetch.  Jack is a bit bolder than Max, mischievously forging ahead while Max bravely stands as lookout. DOB: 6/22/12 With first impressions, I may seem a little “catty” but once you get to know me I’m very sweet. When you come home I will be sitting right there to greet you. And when I say “greet”, I mean I’ll be perched by the door looking at you for a bit until you offer me pets. In the mornings, I’m most vocal. You wouldn’t expect me to have such a cute tiny meow, but I do. I meow mostly because I’m hungry and want some attention after my long night of chasing around my toy mouse.  At night I like to hunt fluffy colorful toy mice. It’s absolutely my favorite toy. If I’m feeling generous I will offer you my catch of the night to you and place it on your bed while you are asleep. You may end up sleeping on it without noticing if you are a human that rolls around in their sleep. Once I'm tired, I like to sleep in close proximity to a human. If I'm feeling lovey, I may curl up right next to you.  I also love looking out the window at birds and people during the day, but I mostly sleep. I cannot resist when a hand is put out to offer to pet me. I will trot over and aggressively (but cutely) push for pets on my head and under my chin. If you do it wrong I may give you a warning swat (no nails though). Oo, I also love those cardboard scratchy things.  e one thing I can’t stand is a human touching my paws. My nails end up being very long because I don’t like them being touched. My foster tricks me sometimes by petting me and also petting my paws, but I catch her every time. She still can't cut my nails yet. I can be picked up, but I really don't like it.  I also enjoy plants so keeping around some cat grass is nice for me to nibble on. I also go crazy for catnip. My foster home has a small dog, so I am used to their kind. Sometimes I miss her when she goes out for a pee break and cry loud enough they can hear me when the windows are open. I try to offer her cheek rubs when she comes back, but I don’t think she understands me. I had a kitten pal that was temporarily in the foster home with me and we used to wrestle every day. If I could have a playmate that would be really nice.  Sometimes if I’m feeling reserved I hide out in high places, but ever since I’ve been fostered I’ve been more outgoing and comfortable hanging around the humans on their level. Before my foster home, I ended up in a shelter due to an animal hoarding case and became part of Kitten Rescue once I was released from evidence hold. Sometimes fast movement scares me, but I am slowly getting used to it.  Searching for a human who won’t mind my nightly hunts. Kids may not be the best for me because I do swat and have long nails. Looking for someone who understands my cat-like nature. Having another animal or playmate for me is a plus for my well-being. I also need to have some pet-friendly plants to nibble on. Will you be my human soul-mate? <3 More pics and vids of me:  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y47392cyn00ej2y/AAAYjEni1gplzujWIIksKOiua?dl=0 If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 5/1/19 Jackson is an affectionate, loving, playful kitty. He is a very easy kitty to care for because he is equally happy playing on his own, wrestling with his foster sister, Tippy (CF8830), cuddling with humans or napping on a soft, comfortable spot.  He is a confident kitty with a cute personality and he is eager for a forever home that will give him the love and affection he deserves.  Jackson can be adopted together with his foster sister, Tippy (CF8830) or into a home with an existing young, playful kitty that he can be buddies with.  If you are interested in meeting this adorable, cuddly guy, and his equally adorable, attention seeking foster sister, contact their foster mom for a playdate.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB:  10/1/16 Joan is a sweet 2 1/2 year old girl who is done raising her kittens and looking for a forever home! She loves keeping her fluff groomed and chasing toys -- any toy will do. She especially likes to bat her stuffed mouse around. She occasionally gets the zoomies, and runs all around chasing an invisible toy. She also loves to be brushed. But her favorite activity is looking out the window. She spends most of the day watching people pass and chirping at the birds. She's a great and undemanding companion!  Joan would probably be a great only cat, but she might get along with another cat her age. She has been living with her two kittens and they have a little too much energy for her. She probably wouldn't be a great cat for a family with kids because she likes some personal space, but she's not fearful and always been friendly to company. She's just looking for a loving home with some space of her own to roam around and a comfortable spot in the window to birdwatch! Come meet her today. DOB: 4/5/19 Josephine is a very sweet and gentle little kitty! She loves to sit on your lap and purr up a storm, but also loves to wrestle around with her beloved litter mates. She loves neck scratches and finding all kinds of nooks and crannies to burrow up in! But her favorite things are leaping for a feather toy and sleeping on your lap or next to you while she gets pet. She has the cutest and quietest mew you'll ever hear, but is generally a very quiet and patient kitten. She loves to chatter at flying insects or birds outside the window! Her best friend and sister is Astro, and they would love to be adopted together but she would also do well in a home with another young and playful kitten! DOB: 3/9/19 If you're looking for a 'people cat' that's thrilled to see you every single time you walk in the door, you should meet Josephine. She enjoys sitting on your lap and even your shoulders if you'll let her. She does that cute forehead  'fist bump' thing that some cats do that just can't be taught. She's incredibly smart and interactive and very ready to bond with someone for life. She wants to be somebody's sidekick and follow them around the house, playing and cuddling. She chirps and trills and is all around very vocal. With new people, she might not want to be petted by them at first sight, but she does warm up quite quickly. Once she's familiar with you she'll take all the petting and cuddling she can get. She also purrs a lot. Josephine would do well as an only cat but will need someone who is able to spend a lot of time with her, as she really craves affection and connection. She is blue/grey with white socks and bib and insanely gorgeous amber eyes. She is probably going to a large cat when she is fully grown, as she is quite tall and lanky for her age, like a future supermodel. She enjoys laid-back dogs and loves children, but certain cats make her feel uncomfortable so she'd be perfectly happy as the only feline in the home.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 8/20/18  Looks? Check! Personality? Double Check! Trust me dear Cat-lover, I am the total package! I am Julius, an amazing little boy who offers his humans lots of affection and tons of entertainment.    My foster dad says I am the bestest kitty they ever fostered, then my foster mom shushes him and says 'Shhh, the other cats will hear you.'   I LOVE getting petted. My favorite thing to do is lounge on your lap and get pettings. I purr loudly to let you know you are doing a good job petting me. Make sure to watch my video with the audio on to hear how loud and pleasant my purr is. I am smart, super friendly, easygoing and playful. I run around playing with my kitty friends and with my toys too. I get along well with both boy and girl kitties of all ages.   People who meet me get very impressed with my cute looks and beautiful markings but what impresses them most is my great personality. I am good with kids too.    I was rescued from the street and I am so lucky for that. Now I am hoping that my luck continues and I find my purr-ever loving home and human(s) too.    Hope to meet you soon!   Purrs & kisses Julius, the most awesome kitty ever If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 11/1/18 Kayah is a sweet baby girl who found herself born into the difficult situation of being a homeless pregnant teen. She belonged to an elderly woman who had acquired more cats than she could handle and was not getting them fixed. When Kayah was just 6 months old, she found herself pregnant. Before her kittens could be born, her person passed away, leaving Kayah homeless. Thanks to Kitten Rescue, she was rescued and given a safe place to have her babies. Despite being only a kitten herself, Kayah is an excellent mother who never lets her babies out of her sight. She would love to get a home with one or more of her kittens. Kayah loves to rub against you when you’re sitting down and purrs readily for strokes and pets. She gets a little nervous when picked up - her owner was elderly so we imagine bending over wasn’t so easy, so Kayah was never really picked up and held much. But she’s very friendly and sweet and enjoys full body strokes from head to tail, for which she always purrs. The most amazing thing was watching Kayah get frisky and run up and down the cat tree batting around a foil ball after putting her kittens to bed when they were super young - it reminded us that Kayah is just a kitten herself. She gets along great with other cats and doesn’t seem to be upset by dogs, either.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 4/21/16 Kingsley is strikingly handsome and muscular but he doesn’t let his good looks and charm go to his head. He loves attention and affection and will follow his foster human from room to room just to be in her presence...and hopefully get some cuddles. He is not shy about asking for attention with a sweet meow that contradicts his lean, masculine look.  He will happily entertain himself by batting around catnip filled toys. It is adorable to see this big guy behave like a kitten with cat toys.  And let’s not forget to mention his beautiful smoky fur coat that is overall black with cream colored roots.  His foster mom thinks he looks like the kind of cat that would appeal to John Snow (Game of Thrones).  Kingsley would prefer to be the sole reigning King in a single-cat household.  Kingsley has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmittable to humans. Click here for a basic FAQ about FIV. If you'd like to read a much more detailed and comprehensive FAQ about FIV, we recommend this site.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in possibly adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 2/14/12 Behold, all ye gentle peasants. I am the mighty Kirby, king of my (soon-to-be-forever) kingdom, and I have gathered you all here to listen to my proclamation! First, am I not the most handsome of cats? (Pssst: this is where you nod vigorously and say, “Oh yes, great Kirby, you are the handsomest of cats!”). Well, you will never see my equal, for I am unique among that lauded breed, the Siamese. And if you let me rule your quiet and peaceful kingdom, you can gaze upon my great handsomeness all you wish, for I will assume my perch in your home and not remove myself for many hours at a time. I must beg of my future kingdom: I do prefer to be the only ruler. Others of my kind are tolerable, but really, a cat of such greatness should not have to share a throne. And I may ask you, my human, to enjoy my handsomeness from afar. At least until I become comfortable in my new kingdom with you, and then I am sure to let you pet me, as you tell me how handsome I am. I may seem timid and unsure when first we meet, but it is only fitting that I deem you worthy before you are allowed to pet my regal self. Truly, a more righteous ruler of your gentle kingdom will not be found. All hail the mighty Kirby! DOB: 8/29/17 Kitty Pride is a nerdball who doesn’t even know how to meow! Okay, he does, but it takes about five or six silent meows before the old voice box kicks in. He’s a chill little dude who was raised as a bottle baby with his foster siblings Zula, Barbarossa, and Tribble, and he’d love to find a home with one of them. He’d probably also warm up to another playful kitty, but also gets along with the resident adult cats. He’s never met a dog but he’s relatively chill so there’s a chance he’d adapt to a dog happy home. One caveat with Kitty Pride -- somewhere in his infancy he contracted a bacterial bug that occasionally affects his digestion. He gets bouts of diarrhea and there’s no way to sell this as a feature--it’s definitely a bug. And despite numerous rounds of meds it hasn't quite been defeated. However, over time it has gotten much less frequent and he might grow out of it all together. Plus--he always uses his box. It’s a small flaw in such an amazing kitty. DOB: 5/31/19  Ki-Yay is a super sweet, delicate little angel who loves to sit on your lap, be petted and purr. Ki-Yay has a beautiful brown torbie fur pattern that is mesmerizing to watch as she runs around playing with her siblings. She’s super smart and tends to be the queen of the litter, hanging back at first to let the others take the first steps into any potential danger, and then following her siblings to explore new territory once she’s convinced everything is clear. The only exception is dinnertime - Ki-Yay is the first to explore the dinner plate! She loves to bat around her fur ball toys, wrestle and cuddle with her siblings. She must have another young playful kitty in her new home and would love to be adopted with her mom Kayah and/or one or more of her siblings Yipee, Tweedledy. and Hubble.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 2/11/18 This cutie is small size-wise, but full of energy and has a big personality! Check out her youtube channel for many adorable videos of her doing a range of things, from playing with vegetables, to chatting, to making new friends. Lady/Tuxie is very interactive---she will rub your ankles, snuggle with you at night if you let her, or greet you excitedly at your door when you wake up in the morning, (constantly) ask you to play with her, and often hang out near you wherever you go in the house.  She never hides, although she will stay a couple feet away from any stranger until she figures out they are safe (or interested in playing with her).  Although her main hobby is playing with all her toys, she also loves face scratches and laying in the sun while curiously looking out the window.  I think this cat would fit well in many different types of homes because of her open and engaging personality; I've fostered Lady for about eight months, and all my friends are trying to convince me to 'foster fail' and adopt her myself, because she is so cute, sweet, and playful! As a bonus, Lady is extremely well litter-box trained---she has never gone to the bathroom anywhere but her litter box---and is too small to be able to jump up onto counters. In addition, she sheds less than many other cats, and because her hair is relatively fine (she is more sleek and soft than super fluffy), she is good for people that may have cat allergies (my boyfriend is allergic to many cats, but he has no issues when it comes to Lady).  In sum, this is a highly adoptable cat, so email asap to ensure this bundle of joy can be yours! DOB: 1/22/2004 Lady Lily Bug or Lily as we call her was brought to a shelter by her owners. They had lost their home and had been living in their car. They felt she deserved to retire in style and Kitten Rescue stepped in. The guesstimates on her age at 13-15. (Owners said she was 20!) since we have had her she has had extensive dental work and 9 teeth were pulled. She is a Botticelli of cats and had a beautiful motor. When given the chance she will sing an Aria in your bathroom. She is not a fan of our large dog and she avoids our senior cats territory out of respect. She spends her days on my 12 years old's bed, she has a special pillow, or in her kitty hideout. She is not a fan of stairs and spends all her time upstairs. A lot of her behaviors are the result of living in a car for quite a while. She needs a quiet home to retire in possibly with a retired hooman. She is good with older kids, litter box trained, and a love. Can you provide her with her ideal retirement home? She needs the security of their familiar bonding. She loves to be held and cuddled at dinner time (canned food) and in a quiet home she will probably come out of her shell day by day. DOB: 5/14/19 Lorna is a total love! She loves to snuggle and purr! Overall she is a mellow, easy going, 'Netflix and Chill' kitten who knows how to relax. Lorna loves to explore and play with her sisters. She loves toys - some of her favorites are feather wands, boxes, tunnels and any kind of ball toy. If she's lucky enough to catch the “bird” on the end of that feather wand thingy she will proudly prance away with it in her mouth. She can usually be found chasing or wrestling with her siblings or cuddled up for a nap. When she is sleepy, she’ll happily curl up in your lap and purr herself to sleep. She also might stretch out and request belly rubs on her gorgeous round polka-dot belly - she loves massages! Like her sisters, she is a fan of sleeping on her back with her adorable belly polka-dots on full display. Lorna also has a cool tabby swirl pattern on her sides. She and her sisters are quite unique since only 20% of all orange tabbies are female. Lorna was the runt of her litter (and is a full pound smaller than her bigger sister) but she doesn’t let that hold her back, she is spunky and fun and cuddly and sweet. She just can’t wait to find her forever home and start bonding with her new family. Lorna and her sister, Alex, would love to be adopted together. They get along great with mellow dogs, older cats and kids! DOB: 7/6/15 Lou is a chill, affectionate and self entertaining cat who likes to be around his human friends but is not demanding at all. He is very social and loves other cats. He was rescued in Mid City after a viscous dog attack. He can’t be paired with a dog after that experience. Fortunately, he recovered fully and has a few scars to show his strength and perseverance. He is in good health. We gave him a soft bed, delicious food and all the time he needed to forget those past experiences. Upward and onward! He is a gentle kitty and loves listening to chill music like the Beatles. He is an old soul. It is clear that he went through some tough times when he was abandoned but shows people nothing but love and gratitude. Lou is a handsome guy with pale amber eyes. He is extremely soft and a serious groomer. He is fluffy and needs furball treats. He has short hair with Turkish Van style markings (white with charcoal patches, a “V’ marking on forehead and solid dark tail), very mellow, calm, quiet sleeper at night, very affectionate, friendly with people and not shy with people he knows. He is an overall great companion kitty. He will nuzzle in your arms and purr. He is a rare “lap cat” who thinks humans are da bomb. To have a playdate, contact his foster mum. DOB: 3/6/19 My name is Louie.  I’m a black and white tuxedo with long fur.  It’s very soft and silky.  My tail is ridiculously long and fluffy. I have a traditional tux fur pattern, white toes in front, white socks in back, a white chin, belly and chest.  I’m a former bottle baby so I love humans.  I was rescued by Kitten Recuse from a city shelter at 2 weeks old.  I purr almost every time anyone touches me and meow for attention occasionally.  I like to be picked up and carried around while you pet me.  I spend most of my time playing and sleeping with my brother Dewey who is also up for adoption.  I love to chase balls, hide in boxes and steal your seat whenever you get up from it.  I would like a home with another playful cat. DOB:  3/1/18 Lucy is named after Lucille Ball and lives up to her name every single day. She’s like a little fluffy comedic genius and never disappoints when you are in need of a good laugh. She’s also full of unconditional love, lots of kisses, and lots of purrs. In addition to being full of love, she is also full of joy. Pretty much everything she does is cute! She’s curious, playful, and very silly. Did I mention playful? Lucy just loves playing with other kitties, trying to swipe their feather teaser toys, playing with stuffed chew mice, anything that rolls and makes noise, and, hide and seek. She is also especially fond of a good meal.  She is independent, sweet natured, and filled with admiration so much so that she purrs every time she sees you. It's impossible not to love her or feel love when they’re around.  She also get along swimmingly with other cats and people. She’s never met a dog but knowing her if the dog will play Lucy will be in.   Lucy is looking for a forever home with other cats to play and cuddle with and people who will love and cuddle her forever. DOB: 12/31/12 LUX (AKA JUDGE JUDY or JUDGEY McJUDGEYFACE) There’s no denying that Lux seems to be judging your every move but we promise she loves your outfit and thinks your hair looks nice! But she does wonder if you wouldn’t benefit by giving her even more of your attention. She’s a fabulous listener -- but not much of a talker...more of a squeaker really. Lux loves to be pet, brushed and enjoys eating with company (and she’ll never turn down gravy). She plays with balls and string but not too enthusiastically -- she’s much too dignified. She’s definitely on the shyer side and takes some time to find her confidence, but once she does she’ll be your trusty couch companion for some Netflix and purr. We don’t know Lux’s backstory -- she was rescued her from a shelter when she was four... But we hope her future will be filled with love and affection in a fantastic forever home. DOB: 4/20/19 Maddie and Max were rescued from the streets as very scared young kittens. Sick and totally malnourished, they needed lots of TLC.  Now happy and healthy they are looking for their furever home together as they are very bonded siblings. They can play for hours together and also like to play with their human friends with the wand toys and laser pointers.  Maddie is the braver one and is the first to explore new things with Max following close behind. Max looks to Maddie for reassurance and will cry if he can’t find her.  They are shy kitties and need humans with some patience to allow them to feel safe and acclimate in a new home. Once comfortable with new people they both snuggle into your lap and start purring. They would do best in a small, quiet home with just 1 or 2 adults to spoil them. DOB: 3/11/16 Maisey's back ground is a bit of a mystery. She was delivered to us at night in a box, in which she waited patiently until we found her. The note said that her owner passed away and the person looking after her could no longer care for her. The note said that she had had surgery recently but didn't say what it was for.    Maisey is an affectionate, laid back kitty who gets along well with other cats. She enjoys basking in the sun and taking naps.    Also, ummm, she is missing a kidney. We're not really sure what the story there is. How this unfolded: we didn't know if she was spayed or not, so we took her to the vet to have them check for a spay scar. When they shaved her, they found not a spay scar, but a scar that was much longer than a spay incision would be. Since the vet was still not sure if she had been spayed, they did a quick ultrasound to see if she had her ovaries and uterus and what she found was that Maisey was missing a kidney. Well, that was unexpected.    During her time with us, Maisey has not shown any sign of illness, eats well, eliminates well and seems like she is in good health.    We hope someone will soon give this girl the home that she deserves! DOB: 4/15/19 Malcolm and Abbey and their 2 sisters came into the shelter as very young, weaned kittens, and Kitten Rescue saved them. They are gorgeous, fuzzy kittens. Malcolm is buff (light orange) and white, Abbey is calico. In their first foster home their foster daddy worked from home so they had lots of attention. Malcolm is super affectionate, purrs to the touch, loves to be held. Abbey finds cozy spots to nap in and loves head scratches. Kitten Rescue took her in when her family could no longer take care of her. But she is safe now and ready for a loving family that will take care of her forever. Mandy loves humans – other cats, not so much. She is very affectionate and loves ear and chin rubs. Then she will roll over and let you pet her tummy. She also loves to be brushed and play with the fishing pole toy. She is curious and playful. Once she is comfortable in her new home, she will sleep with you on the bed. DOB: 5/21/18 Mango, part of a litter of 4, arrived at a city shelter without their mama at age 1 week. Kitten Rescue took them and bottle fed them in the KR Nursery. Mango, a typical sweet bottle baby, now a young adult, loves to play with her foster siblings and the adult cats in the household. I've never seen her argue with another cat, and she's sweet to the little foster kittens, too. She’s cuddly, purrs to the touch and loves to be petted. She sleeps in bed with us at night, dividing her time between us, cuddling the whole time. She’s fine with the small dogs who live there, too. She’s glamorous with her dark grey/light grey classic tabby coat. She would prefer to live in a household with another cat, since that's what she's accustomed to, but could be an only cat. However,  if you have a friendly cat or a kitten for her to play with, that would be ideal. DOB: 8/9/15 Miss Ellie was brought to a city shelter as a stray, full of milk but with no kittens. Luckily, a litter of neonate kittens was brought in at the same time, who didn't have a mommy cat to nurse them. Sometimes things are just meant to be. Miss Ellie has taken excellent care of her kittens, which was witnessed by people around the country and around the world on Explore.org's live streaming kitten camera. ( http://explore.org/live-cams/player/kitten-rescue-cam) Three of Miss Ellie's kittens have been adopted, and the other two are weaned and able to care for themselves now, so Miss Ellie is looking for a home to call her own. Miss Ellie has shown that she is a very special kitty and she needs a very special home. She is on the shy side and will take time to adjust to her new home. Once she gets comfortable, she will give you elevator butt and low, quiet purring. She is not a confident kitty, but she is a loving girl, given time. Her ideal home will be a quiet one, with a patient, gentle someone who has time to spend with her as she gets comfortable in her new home. Most importantly, she should be cherished. Miss Ellie resides in the Los Angeles area. **All kitties available for adoption have been spayed or neutered, FIV-FeLV tested, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and have had flea meds administered ***** If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 7/11/13 I’m Big!  I’m Bad!  I’m Moosh!  Not only am I devilishly handsome, but my personality is a treat that can’t be beat.  I am confident, smart, curious, attentive, and probably just a little dog in a big cat’s clothing.  If this sounds what you’re looking for – read on.   Ambitions?   To be adopted by someone who has an excellent sense of humor and to perhaps, visit Mars.  (I will always keep you laughing.)  Turn-ons?  Laps, boxes, soft toys that I can bat around, kisses from head to toe, and staring lovingly into human eyes.  (I want to be your love muffin.) Turn-offs?  Singing YouTube babies and car-rides.  (‘Nuff said.) Hidden talent?  I can jump 3+ feet into the air to catch real AND imaginary bugs and toys.  (Try me.)  The way to a human’s heart?  Cuteness, persistence and when all else fails – throw yourself in front of them when they are walking and block the path (or sit on their head).   (What can I say?  I can be a bit…er…demanding.)  I don’t necessarily need another cat around for company but I’ve been with others my whole life and would do okay with one or two!  I was rescued with my siblings and my mom from a parking lot when I was just hours old.  Sometimes black cats don’t find homes right away and I’m still waiting for mine.   If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 2/14/18 Mr. Green arrived in his rescuer's backyard as a kitten, thin and hungry. She couldn't keep him, so found Kitten Rescue and his foster mama. He wasn't accustomed to living in a room in a house and was very scared for a week. But a few weeks later he relaxed, became super affectionate, very friendly with his younger foster siblings, playful, purring, asking for love. It's possible that he might be scared in a new house, so we ask for your patience, to give him time. He'll  regain confidence and relax again! Soon he'll be begging for love and purring again. It would be best if you either have a young cat for him to play with, or if you adopt one of his foster siblings. He'll gaze into your eyes with his startling green eyes while he purrs for you. Mr Green and Cate have fallen in love and are now bonded. I noticed that she did not fear touch so I decided not to release her and try to socialize her as there are no feeders in the lot and the cats hop the fence to eat out of restaurant trash cans. It has been a slow process but she has become just the sweetest petite kitty. She doesn't much enjoy being picked up and held but will come to u for pets, rubs and cuddles all day long. She is very cat social and loves to play. I also have 4 small dogs that are cat social and she has become trusting of them but runs when they get to close. DOB: 1/1/18 Oliver arrived on the front porch where we feed several ferals, but he wasn't feral at all. He was undersized, skinny and very hungry, though, with many healing scratches and wounds. After being neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated, he moved inside. Now he's no longer skinny, his wounds are almost gone, his fur is glossy and no longer patchy, and he's super affectionate with people. He's also a huge fan of other cats, including kittens, and has made best friends with the very large, tough, 4 year old Francisco (who is not up for adoption). The 2 are inseparable and play and sing to each other. He should go to a home with at least 1 other cat in residence. Oliver will probably always be petite. DOB: 8/1/17 Opie (CF7961) and Rusty (CF7960) are bonded twin brothers looking for a forever home. They are quite the little pair - they play together, eat together, nap together and wrestle together. And look so darn cute doing everything together. They absolutely love to chase the cat wand and are quite the little acrobats, jumping, twirling and flipping in the air while trying to catch the toy dangling at the end of the wand. When it comes to nap time, they look like a big orange puddle, sometimes it is hard to tell where one brother ends and the other begins. Opie is a friendly, cuddle bug that will seek out love, affection and a warm, comfortable lap. Rusty is a little more reserved when he meets new people, but food and the cat wand are the way to earn his trust and affection. They both sound like purring engines when you pet them. DOB: 7/1/18  Pantera and Tigre's mother and 3 siblings were kept outside, and when the family moved, they took the mama and abandoned the 5 kittens. Three of the kittens were killed in the street. Fortunately a kind neighbor fed and comforted Pantera and Tigre, but wasn't allowed to keep them. Now they're in a foster home, warm and dry. Their leftover shyness is fast disappearing, and they're purring and cuddling, and making new friends with the other foster kittens and cats. Pantera loves to be petted! and she is quite a flirt. She's sleek and gorgeous with her all black fur and golden eyes. Tigre is smaller, with a medium haired coat of classic grey and black tabby, very handsome. He's shyer but  looks for affection now. Due to their difficult beginning and their bonded love, Pantera and Tigre should be adopted together. DOB: 5/15/19   Parmesan is a very sweet, playful little guy who purrs to the touch and shows his love by grooming you whenever he can. He’s a soft little orange creamsicle of a boy who loves to snuggle up and lick your hands and face, roll in your lap for belly rubs, or cuddle up for nap time. Parmesan is a very outgoing little dude, working the room and making the rounds to all people and animals. If you’re looking for a big personality in a little licky package, Parmesan is the kitty for you! Parmesan has a wonderfully balanced personality, very gentle and non-dominant with other animals, always at the center of the group. He’s tiny but tough, keeping the bigger, higher-energy kittens entertained. He loves all types of toys, kitten tunnels, climbing structures, and chasing feather wands. Parmesan has a touch of Cerebellar Hypoplasia, so his movements can be jerky, but it doesn’t impair him in any way. He is fully box-trained and on a very healthy grain-free/raw diet. Since he is young and playful, will need to be adopted with a buddy or into a home with a playful companion. He is friends with Provolone and Shallot. DOB:  10/1/08 Yeah, I’m not too sure about that spelling either. But it is pronounced “Phoenix,” like the city, and I am delighted to make your acquaintance. I’m so delighted actually, that if I were to meet you in person, I’m sure I will walk right up to you, crawl right into your lap, and start purring in your face. Although, I should say that if you’re eating something, I may also help myself to a bite or two. Human food sure is delicious, after all. But where were we? Aw, yes, if we meet, I am sure to become your favorite. I know this because I myself have never met a human I didn’t like. I live peacefully with other cats. I will always pay attention to you, and will always happily accept your attention in return. I am a little older, sure, which means I like to spend my time sleeping, but look at my face! Have you ever seen hooded blue eyes like mine? You know, I’ll even let you in on a little secret: I flash these baby blues at the Kitten Rescue caretakers in hopes of getting some extra food and treats out of them. Works like a charm every time too. So really, how can you resist? When are you going to come meet me? DOB: 5/15/19 Provolone is a very sweet, snuggly little boy who loves to bury his face in your chest and be showered with hugs and kisses. He has an incredibly soft, downy coat with a swirly classic tabby pattern. He can be a little shy at times, but will climb in your lap or snuggle into any spot where he can be up against you to enjoy quality time together. If you have a deficit of hugs in your life and you’re looking for a very cuddly little love bug to add to your family, Provolone is the kitty for you! Provolone has a wonderful personality, very gentle and non-dominant with other animals, and finds a way to blend well and engage with everyone. DOB: 3/30/18 Puff is a sweet but shy 1 yr old. He had a sad start. Born on the streets and wasn't socialized for his first 6 to 8 weeks of life so it took awhile for him to trust. He has the softest medium length fur as he is part maine coon. Puff needs to be in a quiet gentle home with one of his siblings (LJ or Skunk) or even his mom Lizzie. He likes to play with things he can bat at and loves to hang around while you are on the computer. He would be ok with a sibling and a gentle dog. He is especially affectionate at dinner time when you are giving him canned food. If you are looking for a gorgeous and gentle non aggressive kitty Puff is your cat. DOB:  12/08/09 Queen is a beautiful and elegant white cat with green eyes who is sweet but very shy with new people. After some hard knocks on the street, Queen is looking for a safe and loving home as an only cat where she will be treated as royalty, of course!  Though Queen has tested positive for FIV (feline AIDS), she is confidant that it does not change her royal status since FIV is not really a big deal. Given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat and is not transmissable to humans. Click here for a basic FAQ about FIV. If you'd like to read a much more detailed and comprehensive FAQ about FIV, we recommend this site. Please consider opening your heart to this regal girl! DOB: 8/15/10 Queen Teuta of Illyria is a retired three-legged pirate cat who's ready to make your lap her new throne. Her first four years of life will remain a mystery but at some point her ship ran aground on the fantastical isle of Hollywood where she survived by her wits alone. Finally a passing rescue ship took pity on her and she joined the crew of the HMS Kitten Rescue. However, Queen Teuta is not a fan of swabbing decks and furling sails and would like to regain her once royal status in a new Kingdom. She seeks a warm lap for her throne, delicious snacks to eat, and loving hands to scritch her royal ears.  She is a true Queen and as such does not like to mix with the little cats of the world – though she might be convinced to share her kingdom with the right kind of subject, maybe even the canine kind. Queen Teuta has a royal temperament and although she will shower you with affection most of the time she prefers if attention were paid to the royal head and not the royal back or royal legs unless she's feeling particularly magnanimous.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 4/20/19 Radish is a very sweet and gentle little girl who purrs to the touch and loves to get quality snuggle time with her people. While she loves to play with her buddies, she is a bit subdued within a bigger group, letting other kittens inspect new things before she joins in. When I come visit the kitten room, she is often enjoying window time or a stretchy nap on her own pillow. Radish is easily approachable and will let you know how much she loves attention by extending her chin for scratching, cheeks for rubbing or rolling around for some tummy time. She also loves to be held and snuggled, though she does not pester for attention, she is looking for a nice person who wants quality hug time with a sweetheart. Radish is a variable energy kitten and plays with more active buddies easily. She loves to chase toys and feather wands, run through the play tunnel, and has a great time romping around with her friends. She has let me know, she’s currently concerned about dogs, so I don’t think she’d be a great match for one. DOB: 3/23/2018 Big Eyes in an exceptional little kitty. She always looks shocked and like she doesn't know if she can trust you. She was found at a month old and was super sick, she was nursed back to health but she stayed little from that time. She has very short hair and takes awhile to warm up to her humans but when she does it is so rewarding! She will cry (a cute little yelp) if she feels cornered like you are about to pick her up but once you do, she purrs a ton because she secretly enjoys being held. Earning her love is rewarding and magical - you will fall in love with this skittish little creature.    She is best friends with her older brother Peanut Butter. He is outgoing and brings out the best in her. They need each other to let out all their kitty energy - they would LOVE to be adopted together so they can stay together forever.  Rio and Salem are two 1 year old brothers who are bonded and would love to be adopted together. They are both calm and super playful. They are also affectionate sweethearts.    Salem will let you hold him for extended periods of time while you get all the snuggles you need in. He is pretty low key but still has that kitty energy.   Rio will try and wriggle free if you hold him when he wants to run around, but he will go to you and be affectionate when he feels like it. Eventually he warms up and is the sweetest best friend ever.   They are a true delight to have around - you will enjoy watching them snuggle and play. They are ready for their forever home! DOB: 7/12/17 Ripley reminds us of Audrey Hepburn - she has beautiful, enormous eyes, a petite and graceful frame, and is utterly charming.  She still has kitten-level cuteness, even though she's a fully adult kitty.  Her adorable appearance and her tiny trill of a voice will have you convinced she's the sweetest kitty on the planet.  And while she is definitely sweet as pie, she's also got a feisty side. When she's bored, she races around the room, climbing cat trees at breakneck speed, cooing the whole time like a pigeon. She'll follow you around, too, and ask politely for attention. She needs a good amount of love, some serious petting, and some quality lap time at least once a day, but she's still a little squeamish about being picked up and carried around for extended periods of time. She also likes to hide occasionally, and she can be crafty about it. Where's Ripley? If you have curtains or blinds, she's probably behind them, pretending to be invisible. She gets along well with other beta cats for the most part, but she'll scream bloody murder if she feels cornered or threatened.  Don't worry, she's fine. She's just a drama queen. But she's earned the title, she's a waifish super model of a cat – you can't take a bad picture of her, even first thing in the morning before she's had time to groom.  She would do best in a with one or two other extremely mellow cats who are more into relaxing and snuggling than rambunctious chases and wrestling matches.  She could also possibly be an only kitty, if it were a situation was not all alone for long hours at a time. DOB: 9/30/09 Hi!  My name is Rochana but I am called Ro-Ro and that’s what I answer to. Born behind a Thai food joint, I struggled some. Lots of feral cats and I was tiny and weak. They mostly put out rice for us with bits of spicy meat. To this day, the aroma of well seasoned food makes me come running to see what it is. At 8 weeks, I had twinkly, button-like eyes, and my tiny face was spotted with road tar. Once scrubbed, I emerged as a beautiful, black, bashful kitten. Today, I’m amazing looking. (It’s o.k. to be a little vain, right?)  I am still petite which makes me appear younger than I am. Some comment that I could pass for 9 months old. I get by on my looks. My favorite hangout is highest point in the house, the arched eyebrow window in the loft, where I watch the world go by. I sit up there for hours contemplating questions like “Why don’t I have thumbs?” and “Why would I bring someone bad luck?” I admit playing hard to get. My caretaker tries to grab me all the time. She calls it Hug Therapy. Sometimes it’s o.k. The next day, not so much.  But I can’t resist a lower back scratch. Cappy is my playmate. He has lightning-fast ninja moves and jumps onto me meowing, “Aaahhhiii-yaaay!”  He’s very young so I guess I am a cougar. And he thinks I smell nice. If you want to meet Rusty (CF7960) and Opie (CF7961) to see what an awesome pair of kitties they are, their foster mom is happy to arrange a playdate.   If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 5/2011 Samson is a gorgeous, small black panther with a loving, sweet personality. He was born in May, 2011. He has already been neutered. He loves to be petted and when he feels that he is not getting enough he will sit on your lap while you are on the toilet so he has a captive audience to be petted. He always comes when his name is called and will answer with a meow. His eyes change color from green to orange, which is the first time that I have seen that happen. He loves to play, especially with the laser pointer. He also enjoys catnip, A LOT! He is socialized and doesn't mind being with other kitties. Not sure about a dog, I don't know if he has ever seen a dog. Samson has two brothers that each have there own personality. He is much smaller than his brothers. DOB: 3/21/14  Hello there! I am Selene. As you can see, I am super photogenic and elegant kitty. I truly believe I have the potential to be the queen of the house. I am independent and don’t need much stimulation. If need something, don’t worry I’ll let you know, I have the cutest voice when I demand attention.  I will need a human that will surrender to all this cuteness and fluffiness but that one person will have to understand that I need time to get used to them.  I was abused as a kitten so it will take a very long time in human in years to get used to you and I am don’t do great with kids. I am good with other animals including dogs! Please understand that I will be scared and will probably hide most of the time.  I have only had one home with my foster since I was rescued so any new places can be overwhelming.  If you think you can change my life and make me trust humans again, please contact my foster mom. DOB: 5/5/19 Shallot is a very affectionate and hilariously playful little guy who is always up for some fun. He has a sleek, soft traditional tabby coat, purrs to the touch, and loves to get scooped up for hugs and kisses. Shallot always has a twinkle of mischief in his eye, ready to play with you or chase a toy you might throw his way. When he’s had his fill of roly-poly playtime, he will flop down by you or gently approach your lap for snuggles. If you’re looking for a comical little muppet that’s always getting himself into a twist but also has a warm, cuddly side, Shallot is a good match for you. Shallot is a leader of the pack type personality but not too dominant with buddies, integrates with new cats easily, and loves to play hard with everyone. He enjoys fur balls, and anything with feathers attached, or little springs that can dance across the floor. Shallot is fully litter box trained and on a very healthy grain-free/raw diet. Since he is young and playful, he will need to be adopted with a buddy or to a home with a friendly companion pet. He is friends with Parmesan and Provolone. DOB: 9/15/15 Snoop is a staff and volunteer favorite at the sanctuary. This guy is a high energy, curious, quirky kitty. He likes to find new places to explore, climbing, burrowing, looking at you from on top of shelves and chirping as he is doing it all!  Snoop has had corrective surgery to fix eye lashes that were growing inward and he also has a condition of his eyes called coloboma which means that his iris' did not develop normally, but not to worry! This condition does not need any extra attention. Snoop's downside is that he has shown some errant urination here at the sanctuary. Now that that is out in the open, we are hoping that someone will take a chance on him, because we think he may have regular box usage if he is an only cat. And he really is awesome! If someone were to adopt him, or take him for a trial run, we would recommend putting him in a bathroom with a litter box for starters and seeing how he does. We KNOW this is a loooooong shot, but as the saying goes, 'You can't win if you don't play.' Here's to hope! DOB: 6/1/15 Snowball was found at a feral colony behind an auto body shop in Van Nuys.  He was very shy at first, but now he is very sweet, friendly and affectionate.  He loves being held and loves to play with toys.  His favorite activity is sleeping next to you on the couch.  Snowball doesn't like dogs, but he's fine with other cats. Snowball has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissable to humans. DOB:  6/11/18 Meet Sylvester! I inadvertently caught this sweet boy late one night when I was trying to catch his sick kittens. I had him neutered and vaccinated. I was all set to release him back to the stray  colony of kitties where I caught him until  I slipped my fingers through the bars of the trap to pick it up and  he came up to my fingers and started licking them. Clearly a tame, sweet kitty and almost begging me not to put him back on the streets.  I caught all of his sick baby kittens and they were nursed back to health and adopted.   I decided to foster Sylvester too.    He is very happy living the life of luxury inside a home. He is super sweet and affectionate, quite the purr monster as well. He loves to lounge on my bed in the sunshine and insists on sleeping next to me.  He has a dog like personality where he greets me as soon as I come home and comes when you call him. He has a very loud meow and is quite a talker too!  Sylvester is still young and very playful. He gets along with some other cats but would be very happy as the only kitty being King of the Castle and getting all of your undivided love and attention. DOB: 3/28/18 This is Timothe. He has that certain 'je ne sais quoi' about him Well, first of all he is a teddy bear! He really is! He loves snuggles and might even purr when you look at him! He has an outgoing, happy and polite personality. He is ready to play any minute -if he hears a toy, he will wake up out of a deep sleep and be ready for action. But he is also a mellow guy and loves spending time with people.  He is a very smart and a curious explorer. Timothe is affectionate with everyone. And he loves iPad video games as well as the cherished laser toy. He is a social cat and would be great paired with another friendly cat (we have some darling kitties to suggest who he loves dearly). He loves dogs too but need the company of another friendly cat to play and meet his social needs. He was rescued with his mom and siblings in Monterey. They were fostered by kind people who gave them love and nurtured their confidence. They have been raised with friendly dogs and like respectful kids too. When men visit, they go right over to greet and sit on their lap. Timothe is both a ladie’s man and  a “guy’s guy”. He is simply purrfect! If you would like to meet, contact us for a playdate! Ray was doing great until his owner found out that he is diabetic so needs insulin shots. The needles are super small and Ray is the best patient ever. But his owner didn’t want to give shots, so told the vet to euthanize sweet Ray instead :(. Can you imagine your family wanting to have you killed just because you became diabetic? Neither could we - so we took Ray in to foster care. Ray gets along wonderfully with other cats and kittens, and just wants a place he can live out the rest of his years with love and care. He is vaccinated, deflead, dewormed, neutered, FeLV negative, microchipped, and missing most of his teeth. His insulin runs about $25 a month. For more information or to meet Too Much Sugar Ray, please contact his foster mom. Ray has tested positive for FIV (feline AIDS). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissable to humans. Click here to read an excellent article about FIV. DOB: 3/29/07 Tyson was one of three boys abandoned at a pet store in the summer of 2007. At the time, they were a few months old and fairly feral. Tyson is the only one to have tamed down enough where he actually enjoys human interaction. He can be a touch shy at first before he learns to trust new people, but once he does he's all purrs and head butts. Brushing him makes him the happiest cat on earth. He is extremely cat friendly and has grown up in a house with dogs - he doesn't really interact with them but doesn't fear them either. As he's aged, he's become much more chatty. I suppose it could be senility? He'll just out of nowhere start talking to himself, usually late in the evening or in the morning when it's relatively quiet. If you are interested in learning more about Tyson or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster dad.If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 4/25/15 This stunning tuxedo girl came to Kitten Rescue when her human lost his home. Valentine lived with two other adult cats in her adoptive home, but she finds the volume of cats at the sanctuary stressful, which leads us to think that she would be happy in a home with another confident but not aggressive feline friend, or possibly as a solo cat.    Valentine absolutely loves getting attention from people, and craves pets and affection. She is looking forward to the day that she can be in a real home again, with a person or people to tell her how beautiful she is and shower her with affection. All valentine really needs to be happy is a peaceful home and love.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 6/3/19 Violet is a very loving little baby girl who is as sweet as pie!  She is careful in her approach to new toys and situations, often letting her brother Dash test things out first.  Initially, she will observe and once she is done assessing the situation, she will jump in to join in for some fun.  She likes to follow you around and will let you know through her sweet meows when she wants to be picked up for some attention and cuddles.  When she is in full play mode with her toy, she likes to stand on her hind legs and swat with both paws fully extended.  It is cuteness overload!  During nap time, she likes to cuddle with her brother on a soft blanket but in no time, she is up again assessing her environment to see what else there is to explore and discover.  She will be a sweet addition to any forever family who is willing to share their love and home with her.    If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 3/14/19 Warbler  and his 6 identical siblings were pulled from a shelter at age 2 1/2 weeks, so they probably did have some mama's milk. If you enjoy glamorous black cats, then Warbler is for you. At such a young age, another kitten is needed, and being adopted together is fine. However, if you have a young cat who wants a buddy, that's good too. DOB: 5/31/19    Yipee is a cute little nugget who loves to wrestle and play before curling up in a little ball with his littermates for a nap. Yipee loves to lay on his back in your lap and receive belly rubs. Frisky and playful, he’s easily distracted by a feather toy or a playing littermate, but always loves to be picked up and petted some more between romps. A super sweet little boy, he enjoys spending time with his humans being cuddled and kissed. Due to his age and energy level, Yipee needs a home with another young playful kitten or cat. He would love to be adopted with his mom Kayah and/or one or more of his littermates Ki-Yay, Tweedledy and Hubble.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 6/30/17 I am the sweetest tabby you could hope to meet. I love to play and snuggle with other kitties. I have pretty golden eyes and long slender legs. My favorite toy is a fluffy pipe-cleaner – I chase it all over the place and do amazing acrobatics with it! I like sitting right on top of the door and at the top of the cat tower where I can watch the world go by. I love getting wet food twice a day but my favorite time is treat time after dinner. I know when it’s getting to that part of the day and sit and watch foster-mom and meow at her to remind her just in case she forgets. It seems to work every time! I lie by foster mom on the sofa when she watches television and snuggle with her in bed in the mornings. I am still a bit skittish but I have come a long way in learning to trust humans. DOB: 10/15/06 Sweet, soulful Zoey thought she had her forever home. Unfortunately, after 8 years, her family returned her saying they were moving in with family members who are allergic to cats. So Zoey is now looking for a new, loving family. This poor girl is perplexed by this turn of events. She is a quiet type of kitty - no trouble at all. She loves petting and will even reach out to you if you stop. She is a dignified girl, no running around the house getting underfoot. All the kitten craziness is behind her. Her sweet green/gold soulful eyes tell her story. This sad turn of events had left her a little shy but after a few months in a wonderful temporary foster home her sweet personality is showing. She has relaxed and is ready to accept love again.  We believe Zoey might have hearing issues which would explain her wariness in new situations. While it will take her a few months to feel comfortable in a new home, she will be a sweet low maintenance type of kitty with a long life ahead of her. Zoey is not needy and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, easy going friend who asks for very little. All she needs is love. She has lived with other cats and young children. She would do best as an only kitty or with another mellow cat.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent.
