Thank you for your interest in adopting or fostering. Every cat who finds a home makes a difference. Meet Ashley!  On Easter ’19 Ashley the cat walked into St. Mark’s Church. And Scott, being the guy that he is was there to greet her. Ashley became of fixture at the church; wherever Scott was, Ashley could be seen keeping an eye on him from a window sill, on top of a cabinet, or simply resting in the warmth of the sun filled chapel. Ashley was truly an outside cat, fending for herself, needing nothing but a little attention from the myriad of visitors and going about the business of keeping the churchyard clear of vermin and the remains of whatever was left from the favorite breakfast of another of our St. Mark’s menagerie, Francis the Falcon, who on occasion was known to occupy our bell tower and do her bit to vector control. The week of July 1st Ashley seemed to disappear. Scott noticed immediately that something was amiss. And sure enough, Ashley was found in the grossest window well of our church, where on July 8th, she gave birth to four beautiful grey-tone kittens! Thank you for your interest in adopting or fostering. Every cat who finds a home makes a difference. Astro and Ramone are a handsome pair of tabbies from two different parts of Philly that had peobably the most instant bond with one another that we have ever seen in all our years volunteering in rescue! Ramone was trapped in July 4, 2018 in East Mt. Airy and Astro was trapped July 6, 2018 in Weat Mt. Airy. They both received their vet work up and neutering on July 7 so were recovering in recovery crates next to each other. Once recovered from their neuters and deemed fit for their first introduction to their foster home, they met and Ramone immediately began grooming the then little Kitten Astro! We think Astro was only 4 months old when we trapped him in the middle of a busy intersection the night of July 6. Poor Astro was one scared little kitten that night! Cars were whizzing past his tiny frame and one nice person nearly ran him over and was glad she was able to stop when she spotted his little form hunched in the light of her headlights! She was able to get help from us thanks to another person who knew to notify us after he discovered her in the road trying to catch Astro. Astro and Ramone love the company of other cats and love to be pet and to play. They are a handsome pair and appreciate greatly their luck in no longer needing to fend for themselves on the streets! She is happy to curl up next to you and purr her quiet purr, rub against your legs and loves to follow you around. She was rescued from a rough life of scraping by on the streets as a skinny kitten but she is far too delicate and sweet to fend for herself out there. He had a home where he was previously cared for by going in and out but recently lost his home and is looking for a new forever home. He is up to date on his shots and he is spayed. Lucky lady happened to be on the sidewalk digging in trash for food on our way with another rescue. Took less than 60 seconds to stop open food and put in a carrier when she came running. She is now clean vaccinated and spayed and tested neg. They love to play with strings, balls and wand toys.  The have a really unique looks with their tall ears and long faces. Helios is a light orange tabby and Athena is a dilute calico.  Would love to adopt as a pair as they are quite attached to each other . He's sweet and not meant for the outdoor life.  He was found to be previously neutered so may have been dumped by his previous owners. He was rescued from a colony in Germantown and very obviously not a street cat. He was injured and traumatized from his experiences after finding himself left to his own on the street. He was not eat tipped and previously neutered so most certainly once knew life as a kept cat and was not cut out for roughing it with the street wise cats on the block. He has come a long way and recently has come out of shell and begun playing and being a bit of a goofball. He has also struck up a friendship with a young guy named Little Dude who looks like a mini version of himsel! Little Dude was also rescued from the same street he was scooped up from! They can be found napping together, wrestling and generally keeping each other company. If you are looking for double the fun, look no further than Jimmy and Little Dude! We think it would be super to see them adopted as a pair, but that they would also be okay on their own. She was in pretty rough shape but foster care has done her well! She only has one eye and her lashes are growing into it but she will undergo surgery in December to fix her good eye and close up her missing one. She is super sweet, bouncy and warms up pretty quickly to her fosters. He has a condition called “Insta Purr.” Insta Purr is a very serious condition that happens when he is scooped up into your arms. Once he feels you scooping him up he absolutely melts into purrs and turns into putty. This condition isn‘t life threatening and actually very life improving! Introducing Nana!  This sweet lady was found under a car dehydrated and listless on a 100 degree day. The senior citizen who saw her took her to her tiny apt on the third floor of the building but she had no AC for herself and the cat was not responsive to her care. She was able to take Nana to the vet the next day who contacted Green Street Rescus and we went to help this cat and person. Through generous donations we found a portable AC which we installed in her room and took the cat at her request to find it a home. Nana is now healthy spayed and ready for adoption. She is a gentle quiet lady . Ok around other cats but keeps to herself. Skinny, loaded with fleas and flea dermatitis and intestinal parasites and missing all her canine teeth plus some. She couldn’t be more grateful to be back indoors and getting love again! She tested negative for FIV&Feline Leukemia and got her vaccines and treated for the fleas and parasites and 24 hours later looks like a brighter cat already already! She is a very tiny little gal with BIG heart! And a meow to boot! And those brilliant green eyes... She was found begging for food on a kind person’s porch in Germantown and suffering from fleas and an upper respiratory infection. She took a few days to understand she was safe after she was brought in but soon began to melt when being pet and loves when herfoster mom hoists her up into a snuggle. This big, gorgeous, gentlemen was found in a housing project colony.  He is a big teddy bear that loves to be brushed and is a purring machine!  He is healthy, despite testing positive for aids. He can still live a long life with his condition and is looking for a forever home either as the only pet or with other animals. His condition is not contagious! Classic Tuxeo CatMeet Rosie!  This pretty girl has a beautiful tuxedo coat, long white whiskers and sparkling eyes.  Her owner became homeless and reached out to GSR for help as he could not longer keep her.  We are currently working with her to help her lose some weight.  She loves to play with string and wand toys and by exercising her, she is beginning to slim down.  She was a bit grumpy when she came in to foster, but we believe that was because the extra weight made her uncomfortable.  She is now enjoying being petted and seeks out attention with head butts and rubbing up against our legs.  She is very calm and quiet and likes to lay on her special spot on the couch.  She would do best with an experience cat owner and in a home without young kids.  She also would prefer to be the only cat in the home.  She may adjust to a dog.  If you would like to meet this charming girl, please send a message. If you are interested in adopting or fostering , please fill out our adoption or foster application you can find on line on our website: www.greenstreetrescue.org . We found her and her friend Dillinger together waiting and both came running when we popped open a can of food.  Easy enough to rescue and get into the car to start their journey to their new life. Dillinger was dirty but previously neutered and Tilly was also dirty and hungry and need to be spayed, vaccinated and tested neg. Now she wants a home of her own so she can always be indoors and never worry again about weather and food. Is your house her house? Meet Waddles!  “Waddles came to Green Street Rescue after his foster mom found him on her stoop and noticed that he had a significant limp. Even though he had been living on the streets of South Philly, he quickly proved that he would much rather be a pampered house cat.  The vet believes that Waddles’ limp is due to a broken bone that was never treated, but even though he walks a little funny it doesn’t stop him from doing normal cat things. He can even climb to the top of the cat tower with ease! Waddles is the sweetest cat you’ll ever meet! He has the cutest, loudest purr. Meet Wharton! This angel received a second lease on life after he was discovered by a social worker with a huge burn wound on his right hip and flea bites covering his whole body. Green Street Rescue has been providing him with tender loving care to prepare him for his forever home. Thank you for your interest in adopting or fostering. Every cat who finds a home makes a difference. Zander is a super cat looking for a super person! Affectionate, smart and easy on the eyes with his jet black coat, bright green eyes and with a little fluff to his super long tail, he is eager to find his furever home! He doesn‘t mind if there is a dog or two, and thinks if the other animals you may have are nice, (including other cats and possibly children), he would love to be your special cat! He was found as a stray on the streets in March wondering what had become of the home he once knew. We wish we had all the answers for him.
