About Jasper

Jasper is 4 1/2 year old (birthday July 23rd) boxer mix. He is a very high energy dog, and will do best in a home with a dedicated owner and a playful doggie friend to keep him stimulated. He is fun loving, and a great cuddler. He loves attention and every human he meets! We think he will do best in a home without cats and with older children because when excited he may be too much for younger kids. He is house trained and has great recall at the dog park. He would be best living in a home with a backyard to play in or with an owner that goes to the dog park daily; he loves to run! Jasper loves and is friendly with dogs and as long as he is stimulated he is an awesome dog!**This is a courtesy post. If you would like to meet Jasper please email Lindsey at linz.a.grif@gmail.com. A $100 rehoming fee will be required for Jasper.**

Looking for a princess to warm your lap, and your heart? Meet Buttercup! Buttercup was rescued in partnership with an independent rescuer in Mexico. She came to us with a broken pelvis and needed some serious TLC. We took one look at her adorable face and her cute low-riding frame and we knew she was a TRD girl! We are happy to report that Buttercup has fully recovered from her injuries, and has proven to be a sweet and patient trooper. Her foster dad reports that Buttercup is very loving and always up for a snuggle or belly rub. She's a bit feisty and isn't afraid to vocalize when she needs a bit of attention. She is not persistent about it though which makes it cute. Buttercup definitely has that puppy playfulness in her. She is also very treat-motivated so even though she doesn't know a lot of commands right now, she is very trainable. Buttercup's ideal home would be one that is excited to take on a younger pup and guide her through adulthood. Continued training and snuggles will keep her happy. Buttercup is friendly with other dogs and is learning to play. She currently lives with another smaller dog and they get along great. This little cutie is about 1 year old and weighs in at about 20 pounds. Buttercup is crate trained and has almost mastered her house training. This little girl is ready for her forever family to give her her best life. If you would like to meet Buttercup, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet.http://therescueddog.org/dog-adoption-application/ show less

If you're in need of a sweet treat that won't pack on the calories, Cookie is your solution! This special girl is looking for extra special humans to call her own. At 6 yrs old, Cookie was surrendered by owners and had quite a beginning with us once rescued. We noticed right away she needed immediate vet care. Cookie had emergency surgery for two extra (extra) large bladder stones that must have been causing her an incredible amount of pain for a very long time. We got her all fixed up both physically and mentally with vet care, a dental and more love than she probably had ever received! Her foster family absolutely adores her. Cookie, a Shih Tzu mix weighing in at 16 lbs is a mellow, sweet girl who would love to spend her time with an extra loving, cuddly human to spoil her. Although Cookie lives with a canine foster sister, she'd much prefer to be the only dog. She's more of a people-dog and thrives on couch time with belly rubs. Cookie is potty trained and crate trained (although she has been trusted outside the crate as well). She enjoys short bursts of zoomies around the yard and occasionally likes to remove the stuffing from a soft toy. Cookie needs a family that is dedicated to her future health. With her history of developing bladder stones, Cookie will need to remain on a high quality canned food and have a follow up urinalysis done at least yearly. We never want to risk her comfort or health again, Cookie's small health commitment shouldn't be a problem though, as she will repay you with continuous thanks from those sweet, big brown eyes and be your loyal friend for years to come. If you'd like a mellow, sweet couch companion, Cookie is is your girl!http://therescueddog.org/dog-adoption-application/ show less

Meet sweet Shelby! She is a 32-pound, 4-year-old shepherd-beagle mix and she has been a long time foster with TRD. When Shelby was rescued in the Fall of 2018, she was diagnosed with cancer. After multiple surgeries and lots of love and care, we are happy to report that Shelby is now completely cancer free and ready to embrace the next chapter of her life with her forever family. Shelby will thrive with adopters who are active--she is an excellent running buddy. A home with another dog (of her size and preferably female) will be a good fit for her. She loves to run around in her foster mom's yard and does great in the local dog park. This outdoors-loving dog likes the ocean too (good thing she lives in San Diego!). Shelby is completely house trained and she is very well behaved around the home. She is good with kids, dogs, and even cats! Given her rough beginnings, she may be shy with to new people and experiences but give her some time and she will show her beautiful personality. She is very independent and does well when left on her own (not clingy at all). Shelby has emerged victorious from many battles in her short life so far and she is ready to put all that behind her and enjoy her new life with a family that will love and treasure like she deserves to be. If you would like to meet Shelby, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet.http://therescueddog.org/dog-adoption-application/ show less
