Ace is a character, he is a typical playful puppy. He has a lot of cute puppy energy. He can be goofy and silly. Ace and his siblings are around 9 weeks old. . They are developing personalities of their own. I think Ace is going to be a great water loving companion. He plays in their water bowls all the time, digging and trying to put his whole face in under water. Eat , sleep play, repeat is my normal mantra for pups, but Ace and his siblings play before they eat. Have a little breakfast and then go straight back to playing. They love to play and wrestle. Ace tries to sit quietly enjoying his toy, but his brothers wont let him be. So the cycle begins again, running around the room, chasing each other, taking turns who is the chased and who is doing the chasing.. Ace tries to take his toy or treat and find a quiet place to hang out. His favorite is a stuffed monkey with long dangling limbs. They have lots of toys but of course they like to all play with the same one. Running and chasing each other around, they can get a little rowdy. Watching three pups all trying to hold a tennis ball is quite hilarious. The pups are too young to go outside potty, they need to complete their puppy vaccines first. We have been working on paper training. Ace is doing very well, sometimes he gets back into their playpen to go potty on the paper. He is still learning, accidents will happen. Carrots and golden delicious apple wedges are Ace's favorite treats. They are great for them to munch , healthy and cold from the fridge can help with teething discomfort. Young puppies like to chew, a carrot is a great alternative. The pups are up to date for age on vaccinations and preventables. They still need to be neutered and micro chipped, which will be done before they leave my care. Ace is looking for his forever family, Is that you? Anastasia is about 3 years old and weighs 60 lbs. She's a gentle & loving sweetheart. She enjoys being close to you for pets and cuddles. This love bug deserves a place to call home. Can you make her your forever snuggle buddy? My Name is Anastasia and my foster mom says I am a pretty awesome dog. I am a mama and had a litter of puppies not too long ago, so I am very very patient ( human mamas can relate :) ). I am a pretty laid back dog, my foster mom is impressed how calm I am around other dogs and cats. I pretty much do not care about cats so I don't chase them at all. I am housebroken so I know how to take my business outside the house :) I love long walks - since I was in a kennel for a while I get a little excited on the leash and pull slightly but my foster mom said I already got better at that. I am a little scared of cars so I might stop for a second when a car passes by. I LOVE PETS AND CUDDLES :) So I might ask for them on a regular basis :) I cant wait to meet you !! Com'on, I know you can resists my eyes :) I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. Charlie Brown came to me when he was about 9 months old and it became clear very quickly that he had been badly mistreated by someone already in his young life. He was extremely skittish and untrusting and I worked very hard with him to bring him along to where he is now. It makes me so happy to see how far he has come along. He has blossomed from a scared, sad, little dog into a happy, trusting, and extremely affectionate companion. He is still wary of new people (especially men), but quickly warms up and wants to be petted by everyone. He thinks he is a lap dog, and if you will let him he will get up on the bed or couch with you and snuggle for hours! He also loves other dogs. Playing and running in the yard with his buddies brings out the puppy in him! He deserves a home with someone who has the time to give him all the love that he craves and I know that he will be an amazing friend. I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive!, and I am in a foster home. Hi - I'm Christopher. I am a gentle giant... well, depends what your definition of "giant" is. I just got weighed - I'm 4 lbs now! Things that make me happy are: sleeping, eating, spending time with my foster mom and playing. My little brother is a little fiesty but I let him because I am the bigger brother (a whole 1 lb larger). I am more gentle and settle down easier but don't get me wrong... I can light up like a firecracker, too! I love to chase my foster brother around (he's scared of me - not sure why? He's 65 lbs and a old man but I just want to kiss him one time - JUST ONCE!). I'm looking for my forever home... is that with you? Feel free to come play with me, see how soft my belly is and stare into my puppy eyes until I go to sleep. Love, Christopher. My name is Davina, I'm a 6 year old typical Chihuahua. I protect my humans my food and my house. Strangers are a little scary so I have to bark, but I eventually will warm up to them. I like to cuddle up right next to my human mom and watch Tv with her if it is not too scary lol. I also like to sleep with her in the big bed - I feel safe there. I have other dogs living with me and I guess they are ok as long as they don't come to close to my mom, then I have to growl a little. I also live with what they call cats and even though I wasn't sure about them at first, I came to like them. They always come and sniff me but I'm not scared anymore. I like to sleep a lot but I also like to go for walks. I have a kennel I don't like that much but the cat does lol . I would love a human to adopt me that loves me as much as my foster mom does and can put up with my Chihuahua antics. I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. Clara is a 3-year old Australian Cattle Dog blend. You know the pretty girl that doesn't have a lot of friends and doesn't date? That's Clara, beautiful but awkward and anxious. So if you want to meet her, you'll need patience, understanding and a big heart. Initially frightened of every movement and sound, she is still quite ambivalent of strangers and new situations. She's never been aggressive, just vocal and what some would call skittish. Clara is smart as a whip; she knows sit, lay down, no, this way and right here. She walks great on a leash, until there are people or animals in view. Walks are always an opportunity for training. Clara is house and crate trained...in fact her crate is her safe place, she easily goes in. She loves a comfy dog bed and taking naps. While she plays with the neighbor dogs through the fence on each side, super slow intros face to face are strongly recommended. Her prey drive is high; she is ready to pounce and chase cats, birds and squirrels. Her favorite things are green beans, bully sticks and playing with her toys. Gator is a 3-year old male weighing between 70-80 lbs. He is a big boy but super-gentle, friendly and loving with people. He is a very sweet dog who is learning to adapt to indoor life. He loves to go outside and hang out with his foster parents. He is potty trained and has had no accidents. He does well in a crate. We have not heard him bark once since he's been home and he doesn't mind the neighbor's dogs barking next door. He doesn't seem to pay any attention to them. He is very gentle with us and loves attention. It seems he will be good with another female dog but male dogs scare him a bit. I think he would do well with kids who are respectful of his space. He likes to play a bit in our backyard but not too much (maybe this will change as he gets more comfortable). He just likes to be wherever his foster parents are, and follows them everywhere. UPDATE: Hope is doing really well. She will do best in a home without other dogs or small children. Because she is blind, she can be frightened by too much commotion or noise and she's not able to tell when another dog just wants to play, or not. Hope is a female, 2-year old Labrador Retriever blend. She is a complete sweetheart! She is great with other dogs and loves to play with them and loves her toys too. Hope was saved from euthanasia at the city shelter by San Antonio Pets Alive. Hope had been shot and had a severely injured hip. She was also malnourished. She went to a San Antonio Pets Alive foster home to gain needed weight. Once her bloodwork improved, along with gaining 15 lbs and energy, the veterinarian cleared Hope for surgery. She underwent a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) - an orthopedic surgical procedure that helps restore pain-free mobility to her damaged hip due to the bullet that was found. She is recovering wonderfully and now looking for her forever home! Updates from her foster home: - She is a great eater and doesn't bark- she's a quiet one :) - She has learned to walk on a lead well, and she loves sleeping on her bed or in the sunshine - Her sight is not restored, but she does follow hand claps and comes when her name is called- very well! - She is housebroken and enjoys relaxing in her kennel. - She gets along great with the dogs in her foster home and would do wonderful with a "guide" dog friend of her own! I am currently located in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. Jill is a super sweet girl with loads of energy. She is a typical playful puppy. Eat , sleep play, repeat. Jill was one of three siblings I fostered together. She loved to play with her brothers and run around exploring the house. Since Jill's brothers were adopted she has really blossomed and developed her own personality. She still sleeps through the night and takes multiple naps during the day after playing hard. Jill is current on her vaccinations, and since she's had her third vaccination we have been working on outside potty training. She is doing very well. With each passing day she is getting better. Jill is going to be an amazing companion for some lucky family. She loves to be where we are and will follow us around with one of her stuffed toys. She plays and runs with my dogs. And has become friends with our small dog, Jill will carry her toys upstairs and they are often found just hanging out. We have discovered she loves water, and had her first interaction with a hose. She was so funny to watch. We have started leash work too, she's not too fond of a collar Jill is much better on a harness. It will just take time and practice and patience. Jill is really an amazing pup, she is sweet and smart and lots of fun. Jill is looking for a family to call her own... is that you? I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. Jackie has been an amazing foster dog. She's very social, does great with kids, adults, and other dogs. Jackie does like to rough play and can sometimes be a little too rough but listens well when is told to be gentle. She vibes well with her human. She does jump a little but she it very tender when she does. Small dogs tend to be a little scared of how forward she is but once she understands not to play rough with one she won't both doing it again. I've taken here on hikes, runs and dog parks are her favorite. She loves meeting new dogs and gets a little anxious when she doesn't get to greet them. So far I haven't had a chance to socialize her with house cats but she does bark and chase neighborhood cats if they come in to our yard. Jackie definitely loves the outdoors and being out of the house and enjoying nature is her calling. I am currently located in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. Want a best friend who will love and cherish you regardless? Look no further, you will be instantly hooked by Mercy's sweet expression and demeanor. She has so much love, affection, and companionship to give to that someone special. Despite human neglect, she has shown nothing but mercy and love towards every person she's met. Her name fits her perfectly, she truly is the sweetest, most loving dog. I promise you will be her everything. She is happiest when sitting with you and cuddling. Don't let her current looks fool you, Mercy loves every person and kid she meets. You should see her face and excitement when you come into a room! The way she wags her whole body and prances to greet you. She just wants to spend quality time with you, whether it's sitting with you, next to you, or walking beside you. She's a perfect combination of a couch potato and active. She loves to run and play in the backyard and just as happy to be in your lap. She also likes to play fetch, go on walks, play with toys, and sunbathe. Mercy is well-mannered and well-behaved. She is great on the leash, knows basic commands such as sit, no, down, come, shake/paw, and is kennel trained. She's a people pleaser which makes training and corrections a breeze. She is very in-tune to what you are asking of her. She is one bright lady! With treats Mercy is eager to learn, so we are currently working on wait, lay, and potty training. She's one quick learner! With consistent trips outside her accidents are nonexistent. She is being trained to ring a bell when she needs to go outside. This dog loves absolutely everyone, well except for some dogs. A meet and greet would be best if you plan to add her to a home with an existing dog. She's a mix of working breeds and therefore would prefer to chase cats vs. be friends. But other than that, she loves everyone. Mercy is up-to-date with her shots, preventatives, dewormed, and is spayed. She is roughly 40 pounds (should be closer to 45 - 50lbs). This sweet lady needs a little extra TLC. She was found malnourished and is currently being treated for mange; nothing a little medicine and TLC won't fix! Mercy deserves far more than what life has given her. She is longing to make that special person the center of her world. If you can give her a furrever home, then you can give her a miracle. Are you that special, furrever person? I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. Nellie is 3 years old. She is a rescue that has had a hard life. She has overcome abuse and health issues and is a big cuddle bug! She is a tripod, but that doesn't slow her down. She loves to play with tennis balls, steal all the blankets, and snuggle her person. She needs to be in an only pet home (NO cats or other dogs) where she will be primarily kept indoors due to her scarring on her back, as it has sun sensitivity. She is very affectionate and loves to go for walks, go to Petsmart and Petco, or to get treats from Starbucks. She does need to be in a home where the owner is able to lift more than 40 pounds as sometimes she does need assistance getting on/off furniture or out of vehicles due to her amputation when she gets tired. She has a lot of love to give and needs to be in a home where she can be loved on and love on her people. She is up to date on all shots and preventatives. Nimbus is a handsome 5-year old male weighing between 60-70 lbs. He will melt your heart with his sweetness. He's very calm and polite in the kennel. He'll thank you with kisses after you've given him some pets. Will you give this love bug a second chance at life? If you are interested in adopting or fostering me, please email adopt@sanantoniopetsalive.org with my name and ID#. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in a San Antonio Pets Alive adoption center. To find out how you can get involved and help turn San Antonio into a no-kill city, please visit www.sanantoniopetsalive.org Nimbus was extremely at-risk of euthanasia at the city municipal shelter and luckily, San Antonio Pets Alive! was there to save his life. This five year old boy now desperately needs help from you. His four canine teeth are broken and his incisors are cracked down to the root. This has caused him severely bleeding and is VERY PAINFUL for him to eat since his roots and nerved are exposed. He has an upper respiratory infection that needs healing, it is critical to treat URIs as soon as possible so it doesn't develop into a more serious problem. Nimbus's medical costs will be over $300--this includes dental extractions, URI treatments, medicines and care. Please considering donating to Nimbus's care: mail a donation to: San Antonio Pets Alive! PO BOX 830006 San Antonio, TX 78283 show less

Oakley is friendly & lovable dog that loves to run, chew on his large toys, & play tug-of-war with any dog that will do so. He loves on any sofa, love-seat, or bed. When he meets new people, he will get excited, bark for a minute, but then try to jump up & lick their face. Walks, jogs, & exploring are his favorite activities. When he sees the leash, he will start to whine & wag his tail as he heads for the door. Oakley is crate trained & housebroken. He loves to chew apart stuffed toys, but he also thinks cats & kittens are stuffed toys, so I do not recommend that he be around them. He is large & medium dog friendly (not sure about miniatures), but needs time to warm up. Oakley will eat any dog treat you toss in the air & that he can catch in his mouth. Oakley is the perfect companion for a person that has an active lifestyle. I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive!, and I am in a foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of the additional dog who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. Hello...my name is Sadie. I was living on the streets of San Antonio. It was hard living out there trying to raise my puppies on my own. I was really scared but I was finally caught with my pups and we ended up in the city shelter. My pups have all found homes except for me. I'm scared and luckily found a foster family to help me relax, enjoy the good life and is patient with me. I'm starting to come around. I got on the sofa and sat with my foster family on the other side. I love to be petted but just unsure of everything, still. My foster mom tells me I'm beautiful everyday and how special I am. Hoping to maybe find my forever home and can bond with them too. I'm going to be a loyal/loving girl, I just need a little time. It still amazes me watching the other dogs interact with my human foster mom....not something I have ever seen. I'm not too big at 40 lbs. I'm all legs really. Hoping there's someone out there who will fall in love with my sweet face and give me a chance. I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. Trapper is an awesome little pup, full of energy. He loves to run and run, it seems he is always in a hurry. He is such a character. He loves to run around chasing and playing with his brothers. Trapper is a great explorer , trying to fit into every nook and cranny. He races around the house exploring . Trapper was the first to master the stairs, both going up , and coming down. Coming down can often be a little scary for them. Now the pups love to play on the stairs, I have had to put a barrier up so they are safe . They get a little over excited on the landing. They have lots of toys, Trapper loves balls and loves to play tug of war with his siblings. It seems though, just like kids, the pups always want the same toy. They are always wrestling one another for a toy, and can get quite vocal with each other. They can play for hours, then flake out for a long nap. Trapper sleeps through the night. Trapper is just a pup and is still getting teeth in, so he loves to chew. Did I mention Trapper loves to chew ? He prefers cold carrot sticks and golden delicious apples over any of their many chew toys.. Trapper is still young , around 9 weeks old. He is learning to use pee pads and newspaper to go potty. He is really is doing very well, and seeks out the newspaper, but still misses sometimes. Trapper is up to date for his age on vaccinations and preventables. He will be micro chipped and neutered prior to adoption. He is an energetic little sweetheart looking for a family to call his own. Is that you? I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home.
