About Francis

Francis is a 5 year old Labrador pit bull mix, who looks much more like a Lab. He is such a happy boy and loves any sort of attention. Francis was the subject of a cruelty investigation and when rescued was emaciated and weighed less than 25 pounds. Today he is at a healthy 55 pounds, has forgiven humans and is full of love. Francis is good with other dogs if he is introduced to them slowly. He is a little socially awkward and may appear to be challenging them. In reality, he is a pushover and will roll over on his belly when they assert dominance. He walks very well on the leash, and will let you know if he has to go potty. Francis has been without a family for too long, so come meet him soon in Oakley, Utah, so he can fill your home with love. Amber's foster mom describes Amber as “amazing and special.” She is as beautiful as her name implies with a stunning golden brindle coat and golden eyes to match. She has a sturdy, healthy body and a sharp mind. Although sometimes mistaken for a cow (she LOVES to graze on grass), she is 100% dog. When you first meet Amber, she may seem like an old dog trapped in a young dog body. She initially comes across as very serious, shy and aloof. After living in a kennel for over a year, Amber is understandably hesitant to trust people. But once you get to know her, you will learn that Amber is actually very smart, highly trainable, and already knows some basic obedience skills. Amber is not afraid to work for her human’s approval. She is very connected to her humans and shows immense loyalty, making sure she knows where her humans are at any given moment. Once the right family opens their home and hearts to Amber and gives her time to trust again, she will pay that family back in spades with loyalty, trust and affection. Amber may be okay in a home with another male dog who is very submissive. However, we think she will really thrive in an environment where she could take the time to just relax and keep all the human attention to herself. Amber walks well on a leash, and is not reactive to other animals while on her walks. Our beauty is no princess... she is a rough and ready Tomboy who doesn't mind playing hard or getting dirty. Her other favorite things to do: play fetch with a ball and play in the pool. show less

Meet Cici! Cici is a 7 year old spayed female Beagle mix. She was surrendered by her owners to us because they weren’t willing to give her the proper care and attention she desperately needed after discovering that Cici is diabetic. Cici actually lost vision in both eyes due to untreated diabetes. But she has had eye surgery and has her sight back! Her foster family took great care in her recovery and she’s doing amazingly! You can see in the photos how happy she is now. Cici does great with big dogs, and tiny dogs. Right now she shares a home with a crazy Labrador mix, and a timid Yorkie, she gets along great with everyone! Cici can jump 2 feet high when she knows its dinner time, but can sleep through fireworks when it’s her bed time. She’s is such a loving pupper… make her yours! Cici is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also housetrained and will let you know when she has to go out. Cici requires insulin injections twice daily and does best on prescription dog food. Don’t worry… she’ll remind you when it’s time for her insulin. It is a commitment, but Cici is super-sweet and will pay back any family willing to give her a great home with lots of love. Cici is available for adoption in the Los Angeles area. Say hello to Dolly. Dolly came from an isolated shelter in the SoCal desert. Dolly has a sweet and affectionate disposition and loves giving and getting kisses and hugs. She is an active gal that likes walks, playing chase, tug-a-war, and tumbling around with her Labrador Retriever foster brother. However, her more recent favorite activity is squirrel hunting in the yard. “Squirrel!” Dolly is a quick learner. In the short time she has been with us, she has learned to live with 3 other dogs, a Labrador and two Chihuahuas. She adjusted perfectly to the Labrador in just a few days. However, sometimes Dolly thinks the little dogs look and sound like a critter, and we know how she feels about them! Dolly has adjusted nicely to living indoors, but she definitely enjoys her outdoor playtime. She sleeps in a “fluffed” crate at nap time and nighttime and goes to the restroom within minutes of being taken outside. Dolly is currently working on learning some basic commands and she is doing great with “no,” “ok,” “eat/hungry,” “leave it,” “sleepy-time,” “good girl,” and “down.” And she really listens when she is talked to! In fact, it seems she really tries to understand or connect with the human. When Dolly’s foster mom asks her, “Where is Maxx,” (meaning her foster brother) Dolly will actually start trying to find Maxx. Dolly enjoys people and other dogs of equal energy level and would make an excellent addition to an active and patient family. Dolly is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, housetrained and crate-trained. She is currently available for adoption in the Los Angeles area. Mango is described as an 8-year old with a Chihuahua face and a Jack Russell body, who loves hanging out with her foster siblings. She gets along with dogs of all sizes. She has lived with a 5-pound Chihuahua and a 75-pound pitbull and a few terriers from 8-30 pounds. They snuggle together and share their beds. It’s best if she eats apart from other dogs because she enjoys eating their food too. Mango loves to stare at herself in the mirror and often falls asleep in this position. Mango is fine with her person leaving her for work, errands, etc., but she’ll definitely great you with a wagging tail and lots of love when you return to show she missed you. She’s entertained by a mountain of blankets and towels and loves to dig her way under them to play hide-and-seek. She has a silly side and enjoys prancing around when she’s excited. Mango walks everywhere with a smile on her face. Mango loves dogs and people of all ages. As long as her ears and neck are scratched and her belly is rubbed, she doesn’t care about your age or gender. She adapts easily and she loves her person or people. She walks well on a leash and greets strangers nicely. She doesn’t really pay attention to other dogs as she walks. Mango loves car rides and enjoys the fresh wind on her face and will show her appreciation with snuggles. Mango’s a little hard of hearing which makes it great when you’re moving around and don’t want to wake her. She watches for signs and follows the other dogs and will follow you everywhere. Mango has a mild heart murmur but it doesn't get her down. She recently had her teeth deep-cleaned and small benign growths removed from her paw and chest. Mango is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She’s also house trained. Mango is available for adoption in the Los Angeles area. Hi there! My name is Sissy and I am an eight (8) year old female pit bull mix. They call me Sissy because I am a really good sister to my canine foster sisters. I really LOVE to gallop into the kitchen ahead of the human when it is time for breakfast or dinner! My foster mom is patient with me when I poke my head in the fridge to make suggestions on what she should put in my bowl. I like it when me and my foster sisters are finished with our meal and it is time for biscuits. We sit patiently and then catch our treats in our mouths! My tail wags all the time. In fact, it wags so much that sometimes when it hits against the wall or couch, I think someone is behind me and take a look! My foster sisters and I have figured out who is in charge of what in the house. When there is a cat in the backyard or when someone comes to the front door, I am the first one to sound the alarm! My foster mom had one of her friends bring over her small dogs to see how I would react to them. At first I was very curious about them, but after a while they were the ones following me. I wouldn’t consider myself a cuddler, but I like it when humans pet me and give me hugs and kisses. When that is all over, I just go and lay down in one of my favorite spots in the house. I love to lay on couches because they are soft and comfortable for my older bones. I really like to be around humans, but I sleep by myself at night so I can guard the house. I am spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated and available for adoption in the Los Angeles area. I am house-trained and know commands like sit and stay, and I really want a home I can call my own. Is it your home? Sissy is located in the Los Angeles area. show less
