Hi there! I'm Beckham. I'm a curious little boy, who has had a rough past. I was confiscated with my siblings from a hoarding environment, and am still very skeptical of people. I tolerate other cats and kittens but will growl and show them I'm boss. I'm adventurous and an escape artist. I need to go to an indoor home only. If I'm let outside, I promise you, I'll never return. I do well with my littermates present, but if I am separated from them, I become very scared, very fast. I will also cry if separated. I am bonded to both Becky and Bennet. (Please see their profiles.) For this reason, I need to be adopted with one, or both of my siblings. I am tightly bonded to both of them and will be found cuddled up to them. I do like to play, but with only my siblings. I'm not brave enough to play with humans yet. I will run if you approach me. I was previously adopted out and returned for scratching and biting my humans when they cornered me and reached for me. I need to go to a home with adults only that are patient and willing to let me come to them on my own time. I also don't like loud sounds, so I need to go to low noise environment. I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. My name is Davina, I'm a 6 year old typical Chihuahua. I protect my humans my food and my house. Strangers are a little scary so I have to bark, but I eventually will warm up to them. I like to cuddle up right next to my human mom and watch Tv with her if it is not too scary lol. I also like to sleep with her in the big bed - I feel safe there. I have other dogs living with me and I guess they are ok as long as they don't come to close to my mom, then I have to growl a little. I also live with what they call cats and even though I wasn't sure about them at first, I came to like them. They always come and sniff me but I'm not scared anymore. I like to sleep a lot but I also like to go for walks. I have a kennel I don't like that much but the cat does lol . I would love a human to adopt me that loves me as much as my foster mom does and can put up with my Chihuahua antics. I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. UPDATE: Hope is doing really well. She will do best in a home without other dogs or small children. Because she is blind, she can be frightened by too much commotion or noise and she's not able to tell when another dog just wants to play, or not. Hope is a female, 2-year old Labrador Retriever blend. She is a complete sweetheart! She is great with other dogs and loves to play with them and loves her toys too. Hope was saved from euthanasia at the city shelter by San Antonio Pets Alive. Hope had been shot and had a severely injured hip. She was also malnourished. She went to a San Antonio Pets Alive foster home to gain needed weight. Once her bloodwork improved, along with gaining 15 lbs and energy, the veterinarian cleared Hope for surgery. She underwent a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) - an orthopedic surgical procedure that helps restore pain-free mobility to her damaged hip due to the bullet that was found. She is recovering wonderfully and now looking for her forever home! Updates from her foster home: - She is a great eater and doesn't bark- she's a quiet one :) - She has learned to walk on a lead well, and she loves sleeping on her bed or in the sunshine - Her sight is not restored, but she does follow hand claps and comes when her name is called- very well! - She is housebroken and enjoys relaxing in her kennel. - She gets along great with the dogs in her foster home and would do wonderful with a "guide" dog friend of her own! I am currently located in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. Jill is a super sweet girl with loads of energy. She is a typical playful puppy. Eat , sleep play, repeat. Jill was one of three siblings I fostered together. She loved to play with her brothers and run around exploring the house. Since Jill's brothers were adopted she has really blossomed and developed her own personality. She still sleeps through the night and takes multiple naps during the day after playing hard. Jill is current on her vaccinations, and since she's had her third vaccination we have been working on outside potty training. She is doing very well. With each passing day she is getting better. Jill is going to be an amazing companion for some lucky family. She loves to be where we are and will follow us around with one of her stuffed toys. She plays and runs with my dogs. And has become friends with our small dog, Jill will carry her toys upstairs and they are often found just hanging out. We have discovered she loves water, and had her first interaction with a hose. She was so funny to watch. We have started leash work too, she's not too fond of a collar Jill is much better on a harness. It will just take time and practice and patience. Jill is really an amazing pup, she is sweet and smart and lots of fun. Jill is looking for a family to call her own... is that you? I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. Jackie has been an amazing foster dog. She's very social, does great with kids, adults, and other dogs. Jackie does like to rough play and can sometimes be a little too rough but listens well when is told to be gentle. She vibes well with her human. She does jump a little but she it very tender when she does. Small dogs tend to be a little scared of how forward she is but once she understands not to play rough with one she won't both doing it again. I've taken here on hikes, runs and dog parks are her favorite. She loves meeting new dogs and gets a little anxious when she doesn't get to greet them. So far I haven't had a chance to socialize her with house cats but she does bark and chase neighborhood cats if they come in to our yard. Jackie definitely loves the outdoors and being out of the house and enjoying nature is her calling. I am currently located in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. I, Milton Jon (they call me, 'the Nerd'), just solved a world changing equation: You PLUS Me EQUALS the Purrfect Family! This means you need to adopt me! If you need that cuddly-buddy to stay up late with and read good book (or veg out on the couch watching Netflix), you need me! I am one of three siblings who were orphaned as a baby (who knows what happened to our mother). Although I get beat-up by girls, I am a tough little kitties who like to play and eat! I am weaned and can use the litter box. Our foster says if she wasn't already a four-time foster-fail, she would keep all three of us! I will be old enough to be adopted after I am neutered on May 28, but want my home and new family ready before then. Our foster wants to make sure I am in the best home. I can go home with you separately, or I can go with one of my foster-bros or sisters; regardless, I need to have another furry-friend to play with. I am such a rare-color and handsome guy: you wont be able to resist me! Thank you for taking the time to consider making me part of your family. Bottle-baby kittens make the best cats! I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. I'm Bogart, a 5-month-old male labrador retriever mix and I'm currently 24 pounds. I probably will weigh at least 40 pounds when I'm full grown. I love my big, fluffy bed. I'm kennel trained and almost house trained and getting better at it every day. I know what outside is now and I really like to explore. I'm super soft and very cuddly. I'm all puppy so I will require patience and understanding while I'm learning about desired behavior. I am high energy and I love to play, run and jump. I can get up and down on the couch and bed all by myself. If you want a walking or running buddy, I'm your guy! I'm neutered and up to date on all my shots! If you are interested in meeting me, please click the link and complete the adoption questionnaire. Neither of these commit you to anything. It just helps my friends at San Antonio Pets Alive let my foster family know that someone is interested in giving me my happily ever after. I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. House trained: Not Applicable, however he goes well on potty paper Dog-friendly: Yes Child-friendly: Yes Crate trained: In Progress Where does he/she sleep: In a playpen with my siblings Mark is absolutely an adorable puppy who has that scruffy, rugged puppy prowl to him! Mark loves to play and tussle with his three other siblings in my care all the while shooting me those adorable puppy dog eyes and then he stops and tries to howl for my attention. Mark has received one set of vaccinations and is set to be neutered and microchipped before this ad hits the website! Once he is neutered, Mark will be ready to go home to his fur-ever family. Will that be you? Mark would need two more rounds of vaccines to be able to put his precious "paws on the ground", so for now, he and his siblings use potty paper and use it pretty well. It will be like this for about two-three more weeks. He loves his "comida" time and comfortably eats dry food. Don't snooze and miss out on this beautiful puppy, schedule your meet and greet today! Want a best friend who will love and cherish you regardless? Look no further, you will be instantly hooked by Mercy's sweet expression and demeanor. She has so much love, affection, and companionship to give to that someone special. Despite human neglect, she has shown nothing but mercy and love towards every person she's met. Her name fits her perfectly, she truly is the sweetest, most loving dog. I promise you will be her everything. She is happiest when sitting with you and cuddling. Don't let her current looks fool you, Mercy loves every person and kid she meets. You should see her face and excitement when you come into a room! The way she wags her whole body and prances to greet you. She just wants to spend quality time with you, whether it's sitting with you, next to you, or walking beside you. She's a perfect combination of a couch potato and active. She loves to run and play in the backyard and just as happy to be in your lap. She also likes to play fetch, go on walks, play with toys, and sunbathe. Mercy is well-mannered and well-behaved. She is great on the leash, knows basic commands such as sit, no, down, come, shake/paw, and is kennel trained. She's a people pleaser which makes training and corrections a breeze. She is very in-tune to what you are asking of her. She is one bright lady! With treats Mercy is eager to learn, so we are currently working on wait, lay, and potty training. She's one quick learner! With consistent trips outside her accidents are nonexistent. She is being trained to ring a bell when she needs to go outside. This dog loves absolutely everyone, well except for some dogs. A meet and greet would be best if you plan to add her to a home with an existing dog. She's a mix of working breeds and therefore would prefer to chase cats vs. be friends. But other than that, she loves everyone. Mercy is up-to-date with her shots, preventatives, dewormed, and is spayed. She is roughly 40 pounds (should be closer to 45 - 50lbs). This sweet lady needs a little extra TLC. She was found malnourished and is currently being treated for mange; nothing a little medicine and TLC won't fix! Mercy deserves far more than what life has given her. She is longing to make that special person the center of her world. If you can give her a furrever home, then you can give her a miracle. Are you that special, furrever person? I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. Oakley is friendly & lovable dog that loves to run, chew on his large toys, & play tug-of-war with any dog that will do so. He loves on any sofa, love-seat, or bed. When he meets new people, he will get excited, bark for a minute, but then try to jump up & lick their face. Walks, jogs, & exploring are his favorite activities. When he sees the leash, he will start to whine & wag his tail as he heads for the door. Oakley is crate trained & housebroken. He loves to chew apart stuffed toys, but he also thinks cats & kittens are stuffed toys, so I do not recommend that he be around them. He is large & medium dog friendly (not sure about miniatures), but needs time to warm up. Oakley will eat any dog treat you toss in the air & that he can catch in his mouth. Oakley is the perfect companion for a person that has an active lifestyle. I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive!, and I am in a foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of the additional dog who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. Ozzie is 1 year old and weighs about 25 lbs. The following is what Ozzie's foster parent has to say about him ... " Pet's Name - Ozzie Gender - Neutered male Estimated Size when full grown - 35 to 40 pounds Home with Dogs - Foster home has 2 other dogs, one male, 60 pounds, age 14 months, one female, 45 pounds, age 2 years. Ozzie gets on fine with them Breed - Australian Cattle Dog mix Coat Length - Medium Age - about 1 year Housebroken - Yes. He's been here 3 days, and there have been no accidents. As long as I remember to let him out every so often, I don't think there will be any accidents, either. Home with Kids - Yes. We have had our 9 and 10 year old grandchildren over a lot the last 3 days, and Ozzie gets along fine with them. No idea how he might be with little kids." "Ozzie is a remarkably well mannered and affectionate dog. He loves to receive gentle strokes, cuddling and love from people, he will always shake hands, he sometimes comes when called, sometimes sits when instructed. Those last two need a little work, but he's a smart little guy, and should pick them up quickly. Obviously he had lived with people before he ended up on the street. He is still at risk to run away. Often he will sit near the gate in our back yard and seems to be waiting for his former owner to arrive to pick him up, but increasingly he focuses on us (his foster home). When the other dogs go outside to play, he's right there with them. When we love on the other dogs, Ozzie comes over to get his share of the affection. We have put him in a crate several times when we have been gone for an hour or two, and he is OK with that. Right now, as I write this, he is sleeping on the floor within 3 feet of me. He seems to enjoy water activities. My wife was watering some outdoor plants today, and as she was spraying them, he unexpectedly jumped up and started to play in the spray from the hose. We have a pool in the back yard, but he hasn't ventured into it, and we wouldn't let him if he tried, due to his neutering surgical wound needing to heal more. So no idea how he would handle a pool, lake or river. But I'm guessing it won't take much coaxing to get him in the water. One interesting fact about him, besides his distinctive black and white coat, is that he has no tail. In short, Ozzie is a pleasure to have around." Hello...my name is Sadie. I was living on the streets of San Antonio. It was hard living out there trying to raise my puppies on my own. I was really scared but I was finally caught with my pups and we ended up in the city shelter. My pups have all found homes except for me. I'm scared and luckily found a foster family to help me relax, enjoy the good life and is patient with me. I'm starting to come around. I got on the sofa and sat with my foster family on the other side. I love to be petted but just unsure of everything, still. My foster mom tells me I'm beautiful everyday and how special I am. Hoping to maybe find my forever home and can bond with them too. I'm going to be a loyal/loving girl, I just need a little time. It still amazes me watching the other dogs interact with my human foster mom....not something I have ever seen. I'm not too big at 40 lbs. I'm all legs really. Hoping there's someone out there who will fall in love with my sweet face and give me a chance. I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. Don't let my dark-mask fool you: I am soft spoken, playful, and so full of love and purrs. Our foster says if she wasn't already a four-time foster-fail, she would keep us! I will be old enough to be adopted after I am spayed in a few weeks, but want my home and new family ready before then: Our foster wants to make sure I am in the best home. I can go home with you separately, or I can go with my sister; regardless, I need to have another furry-friend to play. I would love to curl up and purr with you on the couch! Thank you for taking the time to consider making me part of your family. Bottle-baby kittens make the best cats! Please check out my sister's bio too Jovie-Sol (SAPA-A-46654)! I am living in a San Antonio Pets Alive! foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of an additional pet who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care. If you are interested in adopting me, please email adopt@sanantoniopetsalive.org with my name and ID#. Please allow up to 24 hours to respond, as all fosters work on a volunteer basis.
