About Toby

Meet Toby! This orphaned kitten was found by a good samaritan, abandoned out on the street. Thankfully, she scooped him right up and brought him to us! After a good cleaning and work up, Toby is happy, healthy, and looking for his forever home! He would love somebody to snuggle with him as his favorite spot is on your shoulder resting his head on yours. He is learning how fun toys are with his favorite being the long feather teaser. He is a submissive boy and gets along well with other cats and dogs too. Does Toby sound like the purrfect companion? Fill out an application today at www.snipsa.org

Meet our Sookie girl! This rescue has quite the story and we hope you take the time to read it. Surrendered to SNIPSA several months ago from her owner of many years, we thought Sookie’s biggest hurdle in finding her a home would be her age. Yet we knew her breed and cute little face would wiggle its way into someone’s heart. She received a flurry of interest in just days of her posting on our website and landed herself an adoptive home. All seemed well until her adopter grew very ill and returned Sookie to SNIPSA. We were faced with finding her yet another adoptive family. And this is where her story get’s more colorful. Sookie had a mild cough but just enough of a cough that we thought it may need further attention. A battery of tests were performed which showed a primary lung tumor. Bad news for our Sookie but good news we had some wonderful surgeons on our side. She underwent another battery of tests including a CT scan, more bloodwork, and additional x-rays (can you see the dollar signs adding up?) There didn’t appear to be involvement in the adjacent lymph nodes or evidence of other neoplasia. Tumors like this had a decent prognosis so we decided to give her the benefit of the doubt with surgery. Dr. Israel and her team at Blue Pearl went to work opening her chest and removed the diseased lung and tumor. She spent a few nights in an oxygen cage with a chest tube – a dog ICU of sorts. Two days later, she was ready to be discharged! Dogs have an incredible way of healing and she was no different. And the best news yet…the biopsy revealed a low-grade malignancy with complete excision of the tumor. We expect Sookie to live several more fruitful years. Our sweet Sookie is back up for adoption and looking oh so fashionable in her pink t-shirt. She wags her tail, eagerly waits for her foster mom, and lounges on her favorite dog pillow. She can go on walks and be treated like any regular 10 year-old dog. She is easy going, mild mannered, housebroken, devoted beyond measure, and the perfect lady. She has had one noteworthy adoption story in her short time in our care and we are ready to find her a lifelong home. Please give her a chance.
