Hi humans, I'm Bear - I'm the most affectionate, wiggly, and silliest bear cub you'll ever meet! While I am very curious and love to explore at the park and in my foster mom's apartment, my favorite pastime is cuddling, snuggling, and snoring and giving you lots and lots of kisses! You might be surprised to know that I am blind, but I definitely don't let that slow me down (even if I do boop my head on walls sometimes) - I just need a human friend who will be patient with me while I learn my new surroundings. I am also potty-trained, leash-trained, know a few basic commands like "Sit and "Shake, and enjoy meeting all new puppy and human friends. However, I can get a little excited and territorial with other alpha dogs like me, so my new human friend will need to help learn to calm down a bit. Weighing in at 35 pounds, I'm the perfect pocket sized pittie! I would love to have a family that takes me on lots of walks or lets may roam their yard so I can exercise my strong legs, but who also loves to hang out at home and relax on the couch with me. Give me a chance to show you how amazing I am and apply to adopt me today! Say buenos dias to Chicharito! This lovable little pea is currently looking for his forever hacienda. Chicharito is a two-year-old tan Chihuahua mix and is currently in the process of learning his basic commands. He's still a little bit on the skinny side, but gets very excited when it's time to eat, spinning in a circle with his big lovable ears and his whip-like tail. He'll also perform his happy dance for you when you return from a long day away from him. Due to his history, Chicharito can be a little shy with loud noises or sudden movements but he will still let anyone handle him. Overall, he is a very mellow and low-key pup. He is spunky, goofy and affectionate, without being too clingy. Chicharito likes to cuddle and wants to be near you, but will also sleep on his own in his crate. Chicharito also enjoys playing with soft toys, rolling over on his back to play with them. He gets along very well with his foster siblings, but has yet to engage in horseplay with them. He hasn't had the chance to interact with cats or small children yet, but overall is an easy going pup. If you're ready to become amigos with Chicharito, apply to adopt him today! Chicharito is available for pre-adopt only at this time as he is undergoing medical treatment, but applications can still be completed. If you are looking for a sweet, affectionate forever friend, look no further than Miss Chula! Chula is about four years old and a mixed breed cutie who is mostly white, but has an adorable black spot over her right eye. She is completely house trained, crate trained and leash trained! Have we mentioned how sweet Chula is? She just loves attention, being pet, and lounging around on the couch with her family or in the warm sun. Though initially she is a little shy around strangers, she warms up to new friends very quickly. She wiggles her butt when she gets up in the morning and any other time when she's happy. Always eager to help, Chula isn't shy about letting you know if you're preparing her food correctly, or fast enough with her little noises. Overall, Chula will thrive in a fairly quiet home where she would be the only dog. She really hasn't had the opportunity to see if she likes children or cats but she is very gentle towards her human friends. So far, Chula hasn't really shown much interest in playing with toys and possesses a low to moderate activity level. She does enjoy short walks, but otherwise enjoys simply hanging out. And who wouldn't want the opportunity to hang out with Chula? If you are looking to add some sweetness into your life, apply to adopt her today! CHULA is available for pre-adopt only at this time as he/she is undergoing medical treatment, but applications can still be completed. Meet Dolly Barkton! Dolly is a 3-year-old Jack Russel Terrier mix who is looking for her new fur-ever home! Dolly is a very affectionate girl who loves to cuddle, sit on laps, and snuggle up with her other pup friends! She is calm and fairly low energy for her age, she isn't interested in playing with toys as she prefers spending time with her humans. Dolly is very loving and a quiet soul, and she loves to sleep in for as long as she can! She is a low maintenance girl, but she will need to be treated with patience during times of separation as she is an attention seeker and doesn't love to be alone when her humans are near. Dolly would do great in any loving home, but would be an awesome fit for a calm, quiet household with someone(s) who will take the time to earn her trust and love. She walks well on a leash, is working on crate training but will sometimes need additional encouragement, like treats, to spend time inside as it's not her favorite place. Dolly is currently working on her house training, but will need some additional training as she still has occasional accidents and prefers to have a companion when going to the bathroom outside. Good golly, Dolly! Apply to adopt this loving pup today! DOLLY is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as she is heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is a non-contagious and treatable condition in dogs, but is fatal if left untreated. Elvis is a short-haired, gray tabby cat who's never met a stranger! He was a stray cat in Oak Cliff before deciding he needed a forever home, which he is so patiently waiting for. If you're looking for an aloof, standoffish cat, Elvis is not your boy - Elvis loves love! He wants nothing more than to be together and likes any activity as long as he's with someone he loves, but he's calm and quiet when he needs to be. He is curious and engaged with the small resident canine in his foster home. Now that he is adjusting to life as a pet, he enjoys athletic, active play with toys. He is a door-darter and will need to be in a home that can manage that. He's vocal around mealtimes but is polite otherwise. His foster home thinks he's a purrfect cat and has successfully won over cat-lovers and non-cat lovers alike with his charming personality. He's a petite boy at around 9 lbs, but he's full of character. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Hi, I'm Esperanza (Hope) and go by Espi for short. I lived chained in a yard for a long time and never had a name before. But life is great now (other than prepping for my heart worm treatment). I love all people, my crate, going on walks, and cuddling. I know to only "go" outside, and how to sit and stay. I'm learning to play with other dogs and am still learning not to get excited and jump and not to chase cats. My foster parents love me would keep me because I am no trouble at all, but they already have other dogs and think I deserve my own family where I can get more undivided attention. I'll be happy as long as I'm loved. ESPERANZA is available for pre-adoption only at this time, as she is heartworm positive. Hey there, I am Harissa, and as you might have noticed, I am on the older side (13 years old!) I found myself in the shelter. I was really sad, confused and pissed at the world for landing in such a scary place like the shelter, but Dallas Pets Alive gave me a chance to smile again! I am being fostered by a couple that LOVES me. They often laugh at the stuff I do, like burrowing in blankets to sleep, or being SO smart that I learned how to open the cat carrier. They frequently find me playing with toys, which brings a big smile to their faces. I also love scratching my paws on the cat scratcher even though I am declawed! I have excellent litter box manners and love to meow at my foster parents with a cute graspy voice. I am good with other cats; to be honest I just ignore them. I am currently living with another cat that is kind of mean to me sometimes, but I don't pay attention to her and mind my own business. I am looking for a quite home where I will get to spend the rest of my days in. I am friendly and have a clean bill of health- no medical issues here. Please, don't worry about my age; remember that age is just a number! Yes, I am a senior but the old and downtrodden are just as valuable with just as much to offer as any other. The gap between young and old is not what some people might think it is. Do you want to give me a chance? Well, hi there y'all! I'm Hattie Mae. As you can probably tell from my name, I'm just a sweet lil southern bell. And just like a true southern bell, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers. When I found myself livin on the street, some sweet gentleman found me and brought me to the shelter. He actually cried when he dropped he off and that's when Dallas Pets Alive came in. Now I am learning to be a true lady and working on my manners in my foster home. I already know how to walk on a leash, potty outside, go into my kennel, sit, lay down, and shake. I do declare, I think that's pretty impressive! Don't you? After all, I am only about 10 months old, and still have quite a bit of puppy energy. But I do try my best to be a good hostess and not be rude. A lady never has to beg, so hopefully you'll see how wonderful I am all on your own. Until then, I'll be playin hard-to-get and will wait for your call or email. <3 Hattie Mae All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. White paws and belly? Pink toe beans complete with matching nose? Comically oversized ears? The most adorable, squeaky little meow? Boy howdy, have I got the new friend for you. Everybody come say hello to Henry, a young grey tabby. This handsome boy was rescued from a feral litter and has quickly come to agree with the domesticated lifestyle. Extremely affectionate, Henry is a purring machine. He'll love to sleep with you at night and give lots of kisses. Quick to adjust to a new environment, Henry is very friendly and outgoing. He always wants to keep tabs on where you are and what you are up to. You want a cat that comes litter box trained? Henry. You want a cat that's good with other cats? Henry. You want a cat that doesn't stress out? Henry. You want a cat that loves playing with his cat toys? You'd better believe that's Henry. Henry has not yet had the opportunity to meet dog friends or small children friends yet, but his foster believes that he's such a sweet boy that he wouldn't have a problem quickly adjusting to a home with either. When conversation time comes a calling, Henry tries his darnedest to hold up his end, but way too often only the tiniest of little squeaks comes out of his mouth. While he is a playful boy, he is certainly not hyper. As a very social cat, Henry's purrfect home would involve having people willing to give him all of the attention that he deserves. Meet affectionate Isaac. We thought she was a boy until we had her "neutered and found out she was a girl. Since she already knew her name, we kept it. She is an 8-month-old gray and white striped cat who was born in our garage. The mother is a stray who adopted us. Isaac has been handled by adults and grandchildren since she was 4 weeks old. She has been spayed and had all her shots. Isaac is quieter than her sister. Once she gets used to you she loves to be held and petted. She purrs constantly. She loves to play, run and be silly - especially with her sister. She enjoys having her back scratched first thing in the morning. She gets along with dogs (we have 3 goldens) and other cats as well as people. Isaac is litterbox trained. She has the run of the house during the day and stays in the bedroom/bathroom at night. This kitten needs a loving home. She would be a great companion for anyone! Jack is a super relaxed, low maintenance dog of about 5 years old. He doesn't require a ton of exercise, although a walk here and there to explore and smell would be great! Jack is pretty happy just hanging with his people and get hot dogs occasionally! He is fully potty-trained and dog door trained. Although he doesn't know any tricks, he is super street smart and generally can figure out what he should do. He gets along well with other dogs and they help him feel a little more comfortable in uncertain situations. Jack had a rough start to life. He was kept in a harness that was way too small for him, causing his skin to grow around the harness and an open wound to form. He was tied up and neglected, had heartworms and was likely abused. Somehow he managed to escape that horrible situation and was picked up as a stray by Dallas Animal Services. Now, Jack is fully healed from his ordeal and is learning what it means to be loved! Jack will follow his people around from room to room, laying quietly at your feet while you work or watch TV. His favorite time of the day is first thing in the morning. He politely waits for you to wake up, and when you do, he will walk up to your side of the bed and give you little licks of good morning! Meet Laverne! Living it up at her foster home, Lavern spends her days hanging out with her DPA sister Shirley and their awesome foster mom. These two sisters are a hoot to hangout with as they play with their toys and snuggle on the couch. Hi! My name is Leo! I am the most handsome, dapper gentleman you ever did see! My foster mama says I am a social butterfly, but I am most definitely a cat; so she's really silly! I love to talk and tell you about my day, and especially to beg you for treats. Yummy! I enjoy sleeping next to my foster mom and chilling out next to her while she watches TV. I also really enjoy playing follow the leader with her around the house. I haven't yet met dogs or kids, but I'm such a friendly boy; I'm sure I could get along with just about any pup or person. I would prefer to be the only kitty king of the castle. My foster Mom tells me I am FIV Positive (I guess that means I'm happy or something? Duh!) Leo III has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), a condition that weakens a cat's immune system. FIV is only transmitted through blood transfusions, serious penetrating bite wounds, or intercourse (but of course all DPA cats are fixed!). Other cats cannot get FIV through casual contact with an FIV+ cat. It cannot be transmitted to humans, dogs, or any other pets in the home. This is by no means a death sentence, and most cats with FIV can live to spend many long, happy years with their families, but it does mean his immune system is weaker, making it extremely important to stay indoors, stay up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and be fed a balanced diet with regular vet visits. They can live their entire life without ever coming down with any symptoms of FIV. As long as they are not exposed to any other virus or bacteria that their weakened immune system can't handle, they can live healthy, normal lives! Would you like to have a roaring good time with Leo III? All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Meet the adorable kitty cat named Lip! She has solid black fur and is a youngin'. She loves to get head scratches, for her it's like going to the spa for a day. Although shy, she opens up to you once you've been acquainted. She loves nap time and is one for lazy days. She saves all that energy for night time. She's definitely a night owl. If you've got a nice window to look out of, she will lay there and soak in the sun for hours, maybe even dozing off in the meantime. She is house trained and good with cats. Currently, Lip is being fostered with her birth sibling Fiona and they are as close as can be. Because of this, her foster parent thinks that the best situation would be if Lip could get adopted along with her sister Fiona, as to not separate them and traumatize them any further. Other than that, any home would be great. Would you like to play hide and seek full time with Lip? Could you welcome her into your home and help her get out of her shell even more? Then please don't hesitate to apply to adopt her today. She will be that one black cat that brings you good luck instead of bad! Introducing Lola! Lola is a 6yr old "special needs" Lab mix, who is practically blind, but sweet as can be. Her lack of vision doesn't keep her from enjoying her life one bit! Lola may, in fact surprise you with how well she gets around. She likes short walks around the block, plays with her ball toys-once you help her find them, and behaves perfectly in her crate. Lola will benefit from a daily routine, that doesn't alter much, but should still be pretty easy going. Using her other senses, almost defaults her to want constant companionship, or know that if your around, so she can lay or nap near you. She absolutely gets excited when she can sense your home, and likes to give kisses and soaks up attention! Being an only dog, (preferably with no kids in house either) or setting up a meet-and-greet with a SMALLER dog would be ideal, since Lola could get overwhelmed by too much traffic coming and going in a busier home. Lola was sadly, found as a stray, and that too hasn't dampened her spirit! Finding that one true match in a dedicated, compassionate and doting owner(s) will be a dream come true, for this truly special girl! Smile big and say "Hi" to Lolli-Pop! Her name can't come out of your mouth without reminding you of childhood, and conjuring up a little joy! Lolli-pop is only around 2 years of age, with delightful features-(much like a real lollipop)- like her pretty honey toned eyes, and velvety creme-colored coat. She enjoys her car rides, likes short walks, is house broken, and crate trained. Lolli-Pop is very well behaved, affectionate, and good mannered. Her activity level is low-moderate, so a nice sized fenced yard could be ideal for when Lolli-pop would like outdoor time and exercise! Also-that way her sensitive paws don't have to be subjected to hot concrete walks, in summer time. A perfect gentle-giant, Lolli-Pop was an owner surrender, yet she comes with an abundance of positive traits, that would only grow, in a loving, caring furever home, with a devoted owner! Who wouldn't love to laugh with daily joy, and make Lolli-pop's second-chance dreams come true?! Meet the ever-so-adorable Mina! This sweet, gorgeous girl sports the most beautiful tuxedo coat and is sure to charm anyone she meets. Found living in a feral cat colony by Dallas Animal Services, Mina was deemed too young and itty bitty to return to this environment, so she is now living it up with her current foster family! Mina is gradually getting more comfortable with humans and other animals, slowly coming out of her shy, timid shell. She is great with using a litter box, taking to it right away! Mina does fine with small dogs, though she prefers to hide from them rather than play. However, she loves the company of other cats, getting along swimmingly with her foster family's current feline. While a little timid at first, Mina can be quite the cuddle bug. Her foster family gushes about how cute she is when she is happily curled up purring on their chests, snoozing away comfortably. She is still getting used to the concept of toys and playing, but she does love a good toothbrush that she can play with and bite the bristles of. Mina would do best in a home with older children and adults who can be gentle and patient as she learns to conquer her shyness. She would love to have a home with other cats and could get used to mellow dogs if introduced slowly. With some patience and a lot of love, Mina could be the purrfect companion! Could this sweet girl be the perfect pet for you? Apply to adopt Mina today! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Napoleon Dynamite is a short-hair tabby cat with a beautiful coat and green-yellow eyes who came into DPA as a tiny feral kitten with his three siblings. He's reserved - loves the pets, but prefers to come to you. This cat loves to play on the cat tower and with various toys in his space. He is pretty active, but would benefit from some more dedicated playtime. Very sweet, but shy. He's timid until he's ready to get to know you. Napoleon Dynamite would love to be adopted with his sibling, Yu Darvish at a calm home where he's able to have his own space and get comfortable without a ton of distraction. An ideal adopter would be someone willing to spend a lot of time and attention on him - he will definitely need that dedication to thrive. He would definitely do best if he could stay with Yu, too. Percy, a 6 and a half year old, 12 lb chihuahua mix, is proof that all lives are worth saving! He was very feral, hovered in the corner with his face buried behind another house mate at the shelter. You probably would not have known he was there if you did not look close enough. Percy had no clue what it was like to encounter normal social interactions with humans or be loved. Since coming into foster care Percy has gone from a scared baby in the corner to going on what was most likely his first walk ever! You can bet it was not as quick as putting a harness on and heading out the door. It was an intentional work in progress meant to help build his confidence. This gave him the confidence he needed join his foster siblings and start learning how to just be a dog. He now goes outside with confidence, is potty trained, uses the doggy door, enjoys sunbathing on the patio, meal time with the pack, playing with the other pups in the house, and so much more! Percy has had many "firsts over the past couple of months. Each one are the result of his hard work. They show how far he has come and how far he can go with a family that will continue working with him. Percy is still learning how to be a dog. He is still shy to sudden movements and is still working on trust. He will come to you and sniff in a calm setting but is not open to being handled yet. Percy is good with dogs; untested with cats but would most likely be fine; older kids would be ok but smaller kids would probably make him too nervous. If you have time and patience, Percy's continuing transformation could be your greatest reward! Every superhero needs a sidekick-and a strong desire to save the world. You'll find the perfect boy for your Batman-and the perfect subject for saving-in ROBIN! This four-year-old lab mix is low on energy and big on love. He's constantly looking for snuggles, and he loves to be near his people! He doesn't require more than one or two small walks each day, and he's not destructive, so he's well qualified to hang around your super-secret lair while you're away! Unfortunately, Robin was injured during his last sidekick position and has lost feeling in part of his pelvic area. As a result, he needs an extra-special superhero to help him get the love, care, and attention he deserves. Thumper was picked up as single mother and her tiny baby at Dallas Animal Services. Thumper is reserved and clearly was not handled with love previously. She has come around in her foster home and is warming up more and more to her foster mom and 4 year old. She was also underweight before and much prefers her new life of fresh vegetables, fruits, timothy hay, and rabbit food on a daily basis. She has stopped nipping her foster mom and even learned to permit some snuggles and kisses! She is a beautiful girl who took great care of her baby and deserves to live out her life loved and unafraid. Although she is older and bit more mature, like all bunnies, Thumper cannot be left to roam unattended as she enjoys chewing leather, woodwork, plastic, and electrical cords. Thumper currently reside with two small dogs (18 lbs each) and a three-legged cat. Occasionally they go out in soft grass in an x-pen. I am young, but I work very hard to make my people happy. I've been told I have the best "sit" ever, but usually there are treats or hot dogs involved! I'm working on lay down, stay, and shake. Hoping to have those mastered so you will be impressed with my skills! I am 100% housetrained. Not ONE accident in the house! I have the softest, shiniest fur, beautiful eyes, and I wear a pretty purple flower on my collar. I need all the belly rubs you can spare. If I could, I would give you belly rubs, too. I love walks, snacks, and Netflix. I'm sure you do, too, so let's do all that together! Apply to adopt me, VIOLET, right now! I will love being your new bestie...as long as I get to bring my favorite squeaky pig toy. P.S. In the interest of total transparency, I am a baby, but I've had rough life. Don't let this little guy's age fool you, Wallace is your ultimate hype man! He is quite a gentleman but is always down to play with either you or his stuffed dinosaur. Wallace was surrendered to DAS by his previous owners at 12 years young! For such a little chihuahua he has a huge personality and is incredibly charming with his superb chicken beg. A few of his favorite things are: breakfast, dinner, pack walks, bedtime treats, and watching Parks and Recreation - he most identifies with Leslie Knope since she is friendly with everyone, makes things very fun, but means business when it comes to abiding by the rules. Wallace is housetrained, and great with the rest of his foster pack (two Jack Russells and a lab mix). He would do best in a low-key home, whether with another pup or the only canine child. Wallace would make an amazingly cute addition to any family! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. Once a stray, this fantastically fierce little lady now spends her days advocating for those less fortunate from the fantastic perch of her foster's couch. Meet the formidable XENA the Warrior Princess! A two-year-old terrier mix, Xena is dainty in appearance and delightful in personality. She believes in every canine's right to a human companion-especially here! Xena knows that the right home isn't just going to fall into her lap, though. She's trained hard to be the kind of warrior princess her forever home needs. Xena is already deeply in tune with human needs-she's calm, cuddly, crate-trained and potty trained! A dream on the leash and the perfect snuggle buddy, the only thing Xena's not so sure about are dogs that are much larger than she. Xena loves to herd her cloth toy minions into a cute, cozy army. She also enjoys walks and the occasional trip around the backyard-to patrol the perimeter, of course! Xena has royal qualifications. Now, all she needs is a home to call her own. If your family is missing a crime-fighting canine companion, apply to adopt the multi-faceted XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS today! Meet YETI! Yeti was brought into Dallas Animal Services by a police officer after being hit by a car, he was in pain and scared, poor little guy. He is now feeling (and looking) much better as you can tell by his beautiful smile. Yeti tends to be shy at first and slowly warms up to new people he meets. Other than being shy, he loves everyone and everything. He's extremely playful and lives attention. He would be great in a home that can spend time with him, playing, learning tricks, etc. He's learning house manners and needs a family that will be consistent to help him continue to learn. All he wants is love, hugs and kisses! He had a rough start are you going to give him his happy ending he deserves? Apply to adopt Yeti today! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. Depending on the medical status, a Meet and Greet may be put on hold until they can safely participate in a meeting with potential adopters. In some cases, this pet may be able to move to its forever home while it is still under the medical care of Dallas Pets Alive. If you are interested in learning more, apply now and one of our Adoption Counselors will discuss the options available so you can bring home your new furry family member! Applications are processed in the order in which they are received; please be aware that this pet may have interested applicants ahead of you. Meet the affectionate Yu Darvish! He is a very cuddly cat with a sweet disposition. He is in a loving foster home waiting for the right family to come along! Yu is an active cat who loves treats and the occasional spoonful of wet food. He also loves little toys that look like mice. He comes right to you for cuddling and lots of pets. Loves to play on the cat tower and with various toys in his space. Pretty active, but would benefit from some more dedicated playtime. Very sweet, but timid until he's ready to get to know you. He gets along great with other dogs and cats and currently lives in a foster home with cats. Yu likes to cuddle up with his humans and sleep with them in the bed. He can be shy at first, but warms up quickly! An ideal home for Yu would be one with other animals to keep him company and with people who like affectionate kitties! Yu is litter box trained and knows how to use a doggie door. He is one smart pup! This silly, sweet cat is deserving of the perfect furever home. The ideal home is where he's able to have his own space and get comfortable without a ton of distraction. He would do best if he could stay with Napoleon Dynamite, his sibling. Could it be with you?
