Meet Hartford, the beautiful and incredible loving 6-7 year old mix. Hartford was found abandoned in a cage with a tarp over it during a rainstorm as a puppy, and was an immediate bundle of joy. He just loves to be loved. He wants to be next to you, on top of you, however close he can get. He’s active but enjoys naps, good for nice long walks, but doesn’t need constant exercise at all. Hartford currently lives with two cats and a smaller dogs, which he is generally great with, but he can get annoyed with the younger dog. He’ll play and cuddle with the other animals, but because of his neglect as a puppy, he’s got issues with food and toys. Because of this, it may be best for him to be the only animal in the house, or with another low maintenance older dog. It’s definitely very manageable, as he never tries to take human food, and doesn’t bite, but wants to be left alone when he’s got his bowl. He’s great at the dog park, and meeting other dogs as long as it’s in a neutral space, and then they can come over whenever. Hartford isn’t loud at all, super easy on walks and great in the car. He’s even met horses and was perfect with them. Hartford deserves the best home for him to live out the rest of his life, in a space he feels happy and safe. Hartford really just wants to make you smile, and then smiles right back at you. He’s caring when your sad, attentive when you’re happy, and warm and cuddly when you’re sleepy. He’s just a lover, and wants to make you happy. Please contact Sierra Sandler at sierras.sandler@gmail.com to meet Hartford! show less

We rescued Sparky from a horrible situation. Sparky escaped from his family's yard and was hit by a car. He dragged himself back home, and his family chained him to a post so he wouldn't get away again rather than take him for medical treatment. Sparky was injured and suffering but they didn't seem to care. He was able to drag himself around in their filthy yard and developed cuts and scrapes all over his legs. Once he was brought to our attention by a neighbor, we were able to convince the family to give him to us. We took Sparky to several vets for an assessment and we were told that it was too late. Sadly, Sparky would be paralyzed for the rest of his life. He has had all his vaccinations and we had him neutered. Sparky is a wonderful young dog that really deserves a chance to live! He is in a foster home now under the Dexter Foundation but we have to be relocating soon due to other obligation the foster has. We need a new foster or a forever home asap! The Dexter Foundation will cover all of Sparky's expenses until we get him a forever home. He needs an adult home where he can feel safe and be loved. We have raised $900 dollars so far and got Sparky a wheelchair, drag bag, walking lift strap and diapers. Sparky took to the wheelie right away! He's able to go for a walk again! Helping a Special Needs dog is extremely rewarding! Ideally, Sparky's foster or forever home should work from home or be retired. Sparky weighs about 16 lbs, and is about 4 yrs old. We think he is a Shaba Inu, Basenji, Puggle and shepherd mix. He is a bit stand offish at first but will warm up to you as he has with me. He is currently not getting along with other dogs and we think this is because of his handicap and the small dogs he’s being fostered around are aggressive. Thank you so much, Donnie 310-292-1526 R6donnie@sbcglobal.net show less
