About Phoenix

Phoenix is a 4 year old Female Spayed Pit Bull Mix. She's had a rough past. She was brought in with her home cropped ears, and improperly bandaged over her wounds. She was covered in teeth marks, scars and her forelimb was so badly injured it had to be surgically removed. Despite everything she has been through, she remains the sweetest girl. She needs a home without children, cats or small animals. She would also need a home preferably without other dogs, but would do okay with a calm confident male dog. She is short stocky, and full of energy. She needs a yard to play in and a couch to cuddle her person on in the evening. She is a true Phoenix, she's had a rough start, and many stereotypes placed upon her, but she is a diamond in the rough and will flourish in the perfect home.

Benji is a 4 year old Pittie mix that was recently adopted from the Dallas Animal Services shelter. He's a big lap dog who loves to cuddle, go on walks and play fetch. He is potty trained and since I've had him he's now learned to sit, shake, and lay down as far as commands. He was initially put into a crate and left in my bedroom whenever I would leave the house but always found a way to get out so now I just leave him in the room if I need to step out and he does just fine. From what I've observed, he has no problems around strangers or children. The shelter mentioned that he had no issues with other dogs. He gets really excited when we see another dog outside on our daily walks simply because he wants to meet and play. Benji is about 65lbs, neutered, and up to date on all shots. The only reason I'm looking to find a better home for Benji is because my older dog has always been reactive towards bigger dogs especially when they're in his personal space. The few times I've had them together he would act aggressive and unfortunately it doesn't look like that behavior will change towards Benji. Benji is participating in The Love Pit's iREHOME program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by TLP. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption. show less

Hello, my name is Betty! I'm a pretty princess who believes that almost every person and dog might be my newest, bestest friend. I have a sleepy-eyed look when I'm relaxed, I have a Marilyn Monroe-style wiggle-waggle to my walk when I'm very happy, and I dance on my tippy toes when I get excited. I'm potty-trained, crate-trained, can sit on command, get down on the floor, will also give you a high five, and very seldom bark. I love, love, love walks - although I still get so excited about them that I may pull you a little bit. I have lots of fans at my daycare and with the people that visit my house. The two boy dogs at my house are my good buds and we play and hang out all the time. But I will cuddle with you as much as you let me. I'm also very patient with cats when they try to be mean to me too. I will say that I'm not a big fan of a couple girl dogs at my house though. I like being the Queen (or Head Princess) Puppy where I live, and as that princess, I will have to insist on A LOT of belly rubs, because my royal belly won't rub itself, now will it? I can't wait to meet you, show you my wiggle-waggle, snuggle together, and be your new teammate or part of your family. Betty is participating in The Love Pit's iREHOME program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by TLP. "Say hello to your new best friend that will never leave your side! " Brownie loves people with all her heart. She treats everyone like family. She absolutely loves kids and has been through 3 births with us. She is never prejudice with strangers in the house, she instantly loves on anyone who comes in the house. You will only hear her bark when she wants to come inside after you let her out for potty time! OH YES did I mention she is house trained and crate trained! She loves to go on walks and will even run with you. But if she sees another dog she will mess up your cadence. Lol She will always greet you with excitement when you come and will even cuddle with you on the couch or on the floor. She is spayed/neutered. All her shots are up to date. We don't know how she is with cats. But she does very well with the little dog at grandparents house. She has been our dog since 2013 and Everything about our dog is great. I don't have any negatives to say about her. You prolly read that and say then "why are you giving her up. Well we love her enough to know we can no longer give her the attention and love she deserves with 3 kids under 3 and full time jobs. Thank you for reading this and I hope you will adopt her into your home of love. It will be one your best decisions ever made. On April 27th 2019 I came across a post on Facebook regarding this sweet boy that desperately needed help and a foster. Buddy is my first rescue and he has complete won my heart. Buddy is approximately 3 years old, he is a brown brindle pit bull mix. When I first met Buddy he weighed only 47.8 pounds (see his before picture). Emaciated and in desperate need of medical attention and some TLC. Our first trip was to the vet to be checked out and get up to date on shots. During his exam, it was determined that Buddy was heartworm positive and would need treatment. This sweet boy had been dumped to just die by someone who simply didn't care about him at all. Despite the conditions he had been living in, the charisma and demeanor of this boy was like no other. He was as happy as can be, loving and just yearning for some loving. Shortly after getting his health and weight up, we began the treatments for heartworms, a series of multiple shots, a lot of downtime in the kennel to get him well and heartworm negative. This beautiful boy is now heartworm negative and as happy and healthy as can be weighing 74 pounds. On 10/24/19 we also took this boy in to be neutered. Unfortunately, the resident male in the home does not want to share his home with Buddy so Buddy is looking for a family to love him forever! Buddy is looking for an owner who is willing to continue his training and without small children as he is a big boy and can easily get excited. Buddy is participating in The Love Pit's iREHOME program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by TLP. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption. show less

I'm CeeLo! I'm an exceptionally handsome boy with a big, goofy personality. When I tumble off the couch in my sleep, remember how regal I looked earlier, with the sun shining off my luscious black-and-caramel coat. And when I accidentally play too hard, remember how adorable my wonky smile is! I'm looking for an active home that can commit to daily walks (sometimes two!). I would love a dog pal to snuggle and play with. And when I say play, you better be ready! I like to go hard and need a play partner to match. I'd do best in a home without small kids. I also like to chase most anything that moves (squirrels, birds, even planes!), so while I haven't met a cat, it's a prettyyyy safe bet that I'll give 'em a run for their money. Emphasis on the run. I put all other power chewers to shame. I love anything that squeaks and can shred a toy in seconds if you let me. I also chew on wire crates, so I'd do best in an airline crate or something similar. New situations and people can make me nervous, so be patient and give me time to settle in! My sparkling personality will come out in no time. I have some problems with my teeth, but TLP is helping to fix me right up. I'm good about taking pills, as long as they're wrapped in cheese or peanut butter. Or thrown right into my food bowl. Yum! I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really good looking (and playful, and goofy, and snuggly). Can you help me find out what that is?! Apply to meet me now! show less

What did you do last year? Well, I got surrendered to a shelter, taken into foster care, treated for heartworms, went through board and train, overcame my fears, had ACL surgery on both back legs, worked my way through several levels of obedience training, took tons of car rides, went to about 300 photo shoots...and realized that chicken nuggets ROCK. But what I didn't do in the last year...was get adopted. What gives?!?! What's a smart, sassy and adorable pittie-bulldog mix gotta do to get adopted? Darla is 3yrs old and a bulldog-staffordshire terrier mix weighing a short 40lbs. Darla has a year of family experience while in foster care and she's ready to take her skills as an excellent road trip buddy, chaser of squirrels and connoisseur of chicken nuggets to a FOREVER family! While in foster care Darla underwent 1 ACL surgeries and lots of training classes to make her the best furry family member she can be. She loves squeaky toys, running errands at Lowe's and lazy Sundays on the couch. Darla would love to be your leading lady with no other pets or small kids in the home. Darla is participating in The Love Pit's iREHOME program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by TLP. Hi there, I'm Deacon! I've been on quite a journey these past few months. I was really hurting when I came to TLP. Thanks to the care of my wonderful foster mom, I'm doing better than ever and I'm ready to find my forever family. First and foremost, I'm the biggest, gentlest sweetheart. I love people of all ages and sizes, and I've gotten along great with every dog I've met. While I usually like to do my own thing, every now and then I want to PLAY! I sometimes like to munch on my sister's kibble, so I'd do best in a home where the other dogs don't resource guard. My daily walks are the best part of the day! I love it when people come up and pet my flopsy ears. I also like to chase after squirrels and birds, but they're always too fast for me. Don't mistake me for an athlete! After a short-to-moderate walk, I'm done for the day and you're gonna have to fight me for the best spot on the couch. (You'll always win. I'm a lover, not a fighter. I'll just snuggle up in whatever space you give me.) I'm in much better shape than I used to be, but I still require daily medication and extra care for issues with my kidneys and pancreas. TLP's medical team can walk you through it! Please don't let that discourage you from meeting me! I'm an extra special good boy, and I really want a loving home. Please apply to meet me today! show less

Meet Frankie! Frankie longs to have her person to love forever! Just look into those eyes and you will see an endless supply of unconditional love. Frankie was picked up as a stray in November of 2019. The shelter was VERY scary to her and I adopted Frankie in December. Frankie tries very hard to please and becomes quickly attached to "her people." She walks very well on a leash, and knows: "sit" "down" "stay" and "place". She is crate trained and VERY housebroken. She knows how to use a dog door and has never had an accident. She has also never chewed or been destructive. Frankie loves car rides and absolutely loves being with her person. Frankie is ALMOST PERFECT!!!! In fact, if she were the only dog in a household, she would be absolutely perfect! The reason I need to re-home Frankie is that she does not get along with my other small dog (terrier mix that is approx. 20 pounds). Frankie gets very jealous of other dogs in the household. However, she does get along with other BIG dogs. I also have a greyhound that Frankie gets along fine with. My sister has two large boxers and Frankie gets along with them.... She just can't seem to tolerate living with a small dog (or cat). I don't have kids, so I do not know if she tolerates children. Frankie is an absolutely beautiful girl with a HUGE heart. She is hesitant with strangers, but once she gets to know you, she loves you with her entire heart and soul. If you don't have a small dog, please come and meet Frankie. She is truly a very special dog. Frankie is participating in The Love Pit's iREHOME program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by TLP.
