Hi, I'm Bailey... AKA Freckles! I'm a 60lb lab mix who was rescued from the mean streets of Dallas. I couldn't have been more excited when I left the shelter... no really, my foster mom and dad said they've never seen a tail wag harder! They didn't know this at the time but I LOVE to wag my tail. If you look at me, I wag it. If you say my name, I wag it. If you smile at me, I wag it. If I had to guess, my doggo love language would be tail wagging. Anyways, enough about my tail and more about the rest of me. Not to brag or anything, but I'm extremely adorable... I'd say my best physical features are my freckled ears (hence the nickname) and golden eyes. But if we're being less shallow, I'd say that my contagious smile, playfulness, and my eager to please attitude are my best features. Oh, I should throw potty trained in there, too. While we're on the topic of what I'm good at... I'll go ahead and tell you that I even know some commands... but the problem is, I just get so excited that sometimes it takes me a second to stop wiggling my bottom to actually sit! How can you blame me when there's a treat in my face!? Speaking of treats... I. Love. Bones. They are my FAVORITE. I could chew on those babies for hours. When I'm not chewing on bones or loving on you, I really enjoy going on walks and runs to get all my energy out! I may be at the wise ol' age of four years old but I still have a little bit of that puppy energy left in me. So if you like to do that.. or even like to just play fetch (yes, I'm good at that also) then you'll love having me around! After playing, I like to take nice little naps... whether it be in my comfy kennel or plopped down on the floor. I don't discriminate on napping locations. When I'm napping I'm usually dreaming of my furever home. It usually includes a yard for me to roam or play fetch in, no other pets (I'm what you humans would describe as a "people person"), and an owner that's ready for a new best friend. I've never really been around kids but I LOVE humans so I don't think a tiny human would be any different. Now I like to picture myself as an honest dog so I'm going to be upfront with you about being heartworm positive. I'm starting on my medications and will be better than ever when I'm done! The great news is that everyone says it's not a big deal, I can still be adopted, AND that Dallas Pets Alive will pay for the treatment! How amazing, right!? If you're interested in making my dreams come true... all you've got to do is file an application and speak to a Dallas Pets Alive adoption counselor! Can't wait to meet you and give you one of my famous hugs! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment. Depending on the medical status, a Meet and Greet may be put on hold until they can safely participate in a meeting with potential adopters. Meet BB, the most resilient and happy dog you will ever meet. Despite being riddled with numerous medical issues like diabetes, heartworms, and a UTI when we first saved her from the shelter, she has been the happiest, most positive, and loving dog since day 1. Her heart warms up to every human and dog instantly and she just loves hearing her name. Her tail will wag the second she hears your voice and will come to you and stay by your side. She loves getting pets, cuddles, and attention so much so, that her eyes will close in absolute bliss when you pet and cuddle her. She loves putting her head on your leg or chest just to be near you. You can truly feel the love and appreciation she has to give every day. BB needs a home that has calm animals since she is partially blind. She needs someone who will be dedicated to her health improvement, which includes a strict diet, and a little bit of exercise. She is okay in a crate but has no anxiety if left alone. She will just wait by the door until you come back. She is a champ taking her insulin shot in the morning and will gobble up any food you give her. BB is a bundle of joy and love and you cannot help but be inspired by her positivity. She makes you feel so loved and appreciated and would be the perfect addition to any home. In a nutshell, BB is SWEET; HAPPY; LOVING; CUDDLY; CALM; QUIET; HUNGRY; PATIENT; RESILIENT. Say hello to Elijah! This ten-year-old pit bull is a total sweetheart who loves to sleep. In fact, his foster mom says if he were one of the Seven Dwarves, he would be Sleepy! He would love to rest his head in his forever home. Elijah is a great cuddler. He loves being by his humans at all times, but also enjoys a break from them to lay in the grass or dirt. He is blind but hears pretty well, so slow introductions are a must for him. But once he knows someone, he's a friend for life! Elijah is housetrained and does well on a leash once he gets comfortable with his surroundings. He also gets along well with other dogs and kids, but only with a slow introduction so he's not startled or scared. Elijah is a very affectionate boy who will wander around the house looking for his people, and then is so happy when he finds them. An ideal home for him would be a relaxed one so he's not startled. He loves bonding with his humans so he'd love a family that could be with him most of the time. This old boy deserves the perfect forever home. Could that be with you? Apply to adopt Elijah today! This pet is available for pre-adoption and may not be officially ready for adoption, as it is still undergoing medical treatment.
