About Kingsley

DOB: 4/21/16 Anyone that meets Kingsley remarks on what a striking and muscular cat he is. But he doesn’t let his good looks and charm go to his head. He loves attention and affection and will follow his foster human from room to room just to be in her presence...and hopefully get some cuddles. He is not shy about asking for attention with a sweet meow that contradicts his lean, masculine look.  He will happily entertain himself by batting around catnip filled toys. It is adorable to see this big guy behave like a kitten with cat toys.  And let’s not forget to mention his beautiful smoky fur coat that is black with white roots.  His foster mom thinks he looks like the kind of cat that would appeal to John Snow (Game of Thrones). His fur coat tends to change with the seasons becoming blacker in the winter and more white/grey in the summer. It's pretty cool. Kingsley would prefer to be in a single-cat household with adults or older kids. Kingsley received a diabetic diagnosis this past fall and had to receive insulin injections twice a day but just a few months later his diabetes went into remission. He is currently happy and healthy but there is a chance his diabetes could return without the proper diet. Kingsley has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmittable to humans. DOB: 4/2013 Anabel just came back from a 2 year adoption, through no fault of her own. She's overcoming the resulting shyness very well. Originally found in the street, she thrives on love and attention, purrs, sleeps and cuddles with her foster mama, and comes running to greet you at the door. She's exceptionally large, especially long, and with her striking markings and big eyes we believe she's a good part Bengal. When she lived here before she would stand up, put her paws around the round doorknob, and open the door! She can be an only cat, but with careful introduction should be able to accept a companion. She's not an alpha cat at all. We want to be sure that, after all the changes she's been through, her next adoption will be the last. She loves young foster kittens If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 5/14/2012Arwen is a gorgeous little brown tabby and white girl with soft golden eyes.  This sweet girl was rescued from death along with her 4 less than 1 week old kittens.  The shelter had planned to kill the entire family but they were spared and brought to foster care just in the nick of time.  Arwen was in desperate shape, little more than skin and bones, and unable to care for her kittens.  She was weak, scared, and depressed.  The 4 babies were sent to a bottle feeder where they flourished and Arwen spent a solid week being syringe fed as she lacked the energy and motivation to even eat.  Time brought healing and as Arwen began to put on weight, she also began to take an interest in life again.  Arwen has made some tremendous strides forward and her progress in her new foster home has been lovely to experience. When first rescued and brought back to health she was really afraid of hands. She was always very happy to see her foster mom and would roll around asking for pets, but she was still afraid of human hands.  After a couple of pets she would swat at the hand with just her pads, no claws.Arwen is now out and about playing with the other felines in her foster home. She has four playmates, and she loves them all! She has never, even from the very first time, hissed or growled at another cat. Even at the adoption events that are stressful in nature, she has never hissed at another cat. She is very playful and runs around with the 6 months old kittens, (it's a good match- she's a small cat!). From time to time the two neighborhood feral cats come in to say hi; they're all friends and Arwen is very curious about them.  Plus, it looks like sweet little Arwen has found herself a boyfriend- at least he thinks so!  It's endearing to witness. It's easy to see that the guys would like her; she prances around being light on her feet when she walks and run! She no longer is afraid of hands, as long as the hands don't make quick, rushed, and erratic movements, she loves, loves, loves to be petted, and she will purr up a storm if you let her.  She is still afraid of an erect body and a human body coming towards her, but even here she has changed dramatically with each passing day. Especially if she's up high on a cat tree or kitchen counter or the like, she has no problem with a body walking towards her. As a matter of fact, then she seeks out your hand for pets! Lately, Arwen has started to really want the human presence. Instead of running away, she has followed her foster parent around from room to room in the house; not glued to the heals, but all of a sudden she has appeared in the same room. Her foster mom was positively surprised the other day when her roommate told her that Arwen had come into the kitchen and rubbed against her legs, even though the roommate was fully standing up making tea. Later when the roommate was on the couch, Arwen came up next to her and rubbed her head against the roommates hand. Arwen needs patience, love, and understanding as she continues to recover from whatever made her so terribly scared.  Arwen would be best suited in a calm, quiet household where she can feel secure and safe.  If you're looking for a kitty who is low maintenance, but is a good playmate for your cat, Arwen would be your cat!  Arwen would not do well with children at this point in time, and wants a dog free home. Arwen is fixed, tested for FIV/Felv, microchipped, dewormed, flea treated, and up to date on vaccines. If you are interested in learning more about Arwen or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB 4/12/13       Beamish is truly wonderful kitty.  He's a big, handsome, soft tabby & white.  He loves to play with his toys!  His favorites are his tunnel and turbo scratcher.  Beam also loves to play with his kitty friends.  He is a very funny kitty – he sometimes likes to sleep on his back with his legs up in the air.  He also likes to snuggle in bed and purrs like a locomotive. He’ll come when you call him, “Beam!”  He makes an adorable chirping sound. Beamish needs a little extra care. He needs Miralax twice a day to keep his stool soft.  I put it in food in the morning and evening and he thinks it's a treat. DOB:  5/1/19 Beauty is a precious girl and a joy to have around. As long you provide her with some cuddle time, wet food, cat toys and a comfortable place to nap, she is a happy girl. But first, you have to earn her trust. She loves to play, wrestle and nap with her foster sister, Ebony (CF8832). It is fun to watch them chase one another up and down the cat tree and across the living room. In between play sessions, they like to bask in the sun and watch birds through the window. Beauty and Ebony are a bonded pair and are eager to find a forever home that will give them both lots of love.   If you are interested in meeting Beauty and Ebony, their foster mom is happy to arrange a playdate.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 10/9/01 Birdie was surrendered at 18 years of age to a high kill shelter.  She was advertised as a Yorkie, but when we arrived at the shelter to meet her we found that she was in fact an adorable poodle mix!  We welcomed her with open arms as a resident of our kitten nursery.  Another surprise for us … Birdie may be a senior girl, but she has the energy of a much younger dog.  She greets you with happy prances, and loves her walks.  She also likes to hang out with all the cats & kittens at the nursery, often stealing their beds and their food!  Birdie has a good appetite and loves her treats too!  She is in excellent health for her age and is looking to spend her retirement in a loving home with someone who is home all day so they can hang out and enjoy afternoon naps in front of the TV!  If you are interested in learning more about this dog or in adopting her, please click here to email her foster parent. DOB: 4/21/13 Bridget is a petite, lovely kitty that is looking for a quiet home with a soft cat bed where she can curl up for long, luxurious naps basking in the sunshine beside a window.  After being abandoned on the street for many years, Bridget deserves a home that will spoil her and pamper her with love, affection and plenty of wet food. (She doesn’t have any teeth so she prefers a wet food diet.) As a special treat, Bridget loves Gerber chicken baby food.  Bridget tries really hard to keep up with her grooming but she needs a little help and appreciates being  brushed regularly to keep her fur soft and smooth.  She is shy when she meets new people but can be quickly won over with some good head scratches and a brushing session. When she gives you her belly, you know you’re “in”.  If you want to give Bridget a forever home, her foster mom is happy to arrange a meeting.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting her, please click here to email he foster parent. DOB: 11/1/16 Can a cat meow with a Southern accent??????    Come see Bubba.  A three year old  very talkative guy who was transported from Georgia.  Found wandering around a coyote filled neighborhood at midnight.  Bubba is super people friendly. Will sit on your lap. He would be OK with cat friendly dogs if the dog had no interest in him, other than that, he is very cautious with dogs. He follows you around like he was a dog.  Bubba gets along fine with other cats.  While Bubba is great with kids he probably should only be in a home with teenage kids. Bubba is a 'door darter'. If here is a door left open or sometimes he sneaks out when you are leaving. He does not come back when you call him so he'd be best in a home without a lot of kids coming in and out. Orange tabby cats are great!!! DOB: 1/1/2015 Special needs - FELV positive Chad was a stray and turned into a high-kill animal control facility.  The staff loved him, posted him on social media and a Kitten Rescue volunteer saw his face and knew he had to get out.   When he got neutered, we found out he tested positive for Felv.  Feline Leukemia is not contagious to humans, but can be transmitted to other cats, so Chad needs to live with other positive cats or as a single cat.   He can live a long, healthy life.  His personality is so cute and affectionate.  He loves to curl up next to a human and be a fuzzy couch potato.  He is not crazy about large dogs, but could tolerate small ones.   If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 2014 Cody wears a big heart shaped mark on his side. It can't be any clearer that this 4 year old boy is an absolute Sweetheart! He had a tough life until he was rescued and he couldn't be more grateful. Cody is a very friendly & gentle giant and he just loves to be part of family living. He loves his foster cat friends (Bizou & Benny & Peter) and makes the best friend to cats & humans. He has a very good appetite and enjoys his wet food meals and dry food. He is very well behaved & clean. There is something really special about Cody! He looks at you and is trying to communicate and he follows around the house like the best buddy would do. When interested people meet Cody, they are smitten by his amazing personality and that he can be held like a baby but the moment they hear that Cody is FIV positive, they turn away, not realizing that they just met one of the greatest cats alive!!! Cody  is very healthy and can live a very long life if getting good care & love in a nice indoor home. His foster parent will gladly explain FIV in Cats. There is no reason to turn away from Cody if opening ears, eyes & heart to him.  He lives with many other cats and gets along well with them so he could be adopted into a home with other cats or as a single. Cats with FIV+ often gets passed over because people feel worried about the diagnosis. However, given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat and it requires direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). DOB: 11/14/12 Look at that sweet face & those sad eyes! Coop (born in November 2012) is actually a happy fellow. He loves to play chase with the other kitties running thru the house with glee. His favorite toys are the Star Chaser and the Undercover Mouse - he seems to love toys that go around & around. Coop is also fascinated by TV & likes to sit on the arm of the sofa watching it (does not seem to have a show that he favors). He also loves to watch the moths flying against the window at night. He meows at them but I am not sure what he is saying. As you can see, Coop is a handsome Turkish Van mix. His fur is short & sleek - very soft. His eyes are a stunning light blue green. Coop was rescued from a home with too many animals. He has been around dogs. He is a sweet, low-key kitty looking for a loving family with another cat that will play with him.
