About Ace Ventura

Ace is a happy, snuggly big boy who would love a home that has time to give him lots of attention and opportunities to keep his brain busy with toys and puzzles and play time! Ace loves to spend his time snuggling and giving kisses to his people friends and chewing on his favorite Kongs and squeaky toys. Ace is great with all people and loves making friends. He is a good boy on walks for his dog walkers. Ace is not a huge fan of crates, but can be trusted to roam free when his humans are away, as he does not chew or destroy. Ace is a little dog selective would prefer to be the only canine companion in your life, but he's worth 50 dogs in terms of how much love and fun he brings with him! He's lived with older kids before, and could live with them again as long as they can handle his size and energy level. Ace is a lovable, goofy boy who wants to continue his basic training to become a well rounded pup.  Alani is a super sweet, gentle, and very playful kitty whose squeaky meows will melt your heart! She is a little cautious at first, but when she realizes she's safe will happily follow you around the house and keep you company wherever you go. Even though Alani is not a lap cat, she loves to be around her people; when she's not busy chasing a wand toy around, she will beg for pets--especially butt scratches!  This special lady would do best as the only animal in a home with adults or grown children that will enjoy her company and give her the love she deserves.    Sweet angel April has the best personality! She is sweet but not too clingy; mellow but still enjoys walks; she loves afternoon naps but also meeting new friends!  At 11 years young, April eats a specific diet to maintain optimal kidney health. She also has several other medical conditions that need routine monitoring and daily medication. Despite it all, she is the sweetest girl and just wants to enjoy life surrounded by love!   We think April could easily befriend other small, nice dogs and seems to get along fine with cats. Interested adopters should contact PAWS to learn more about this sweet gem. You may "name your own" adoption fee for April, instead putting that amount towards her medical bills, though we appreciate any donation you're able to make so we can continue our lifesaving efforts and save more dogs like April!  Age: 11 years  How I came to PAWS: Owner surrender for health of owner Animal ID#: A42718924 Size/Weight: 21 lbs Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess.  Arnold is a beautiful big guy with stunning green eyes who is waiting for his special person!  Arnold was rescued after he was found as a stray.  He was very shy when he first arrived and felt most comfortable tucked away in a hiding place in his cage. Once you spend some time with him, he happily welcomes your affection and pets.  He is a love bug and is looking for a forever home that can give him lots of love and patience.  He is a volunteer favorite who is currently a star student in our Cat Pawsitive clicker training program!  He is quite food motivated and loves giving high fives for a little treat!  A low-key household would allow him to blossom into the great companion he is destined to be.   Arnold also loves other cats and is often found snuggling with them. He has been with us for a while waiting for the right match... Perhaps you are his forever-after happy ending?  Meet this tripod. He's groovy. This handsome boy is Ash Williams. He is the king of cuddling and will spend the entire day sleeping in your lap if you let him. If you're too busy for that, he'll settle for holding your hand while you read or work. This is a cat with a lot of love to give. Ash gets along with other cats but he doesn't have to live with them. However, you should be prepared to spend a lot of your time with Ash when you are home. Even though Ash only has three legs, it doesn't limit his use of the litterbox or the stairs. He lost his back leg from trauma but the amputation has healed well. She will always be happy to see you at the beginning or end of the day. She enjoys head rubs and some pets across her back, and will give head boops and lick you to show affection. She is an independent lady overall. She would do best in a calm, adults-only home where she can have more playtime than snuggle time.  Bev, also known as Mama, is equal parts sassy and sweet! This petite lady has beautiful, big, green eyes, curly whiskers and the softest fur for miles, which will come as no surprise since she’s a perfectionist when it comes to bath time! After a life on the streets, she is ready for a home that can give her all the unconditional love she deserves. Bev will do best with an adopter who has had experience with cats, and as an only pet so that she can embrace being queen of your castle. In foster care, Bev is proving to be quite the chatty Cathy—she lets out the cutest little chirps when you talk to her, pet her and (especially) feed her. Bev will let you know where she likes pets, and where she doesn’t, but she is gentle about it. When she’s looking for some company, she will hop up next to you on the couch for a nap or crawl up on your chest for some cuddles, but she will quietly retreat when she’d prefer some time to herself. This little lady doesn’t ask for much and is overly deserving of a forever where she can feel safe and loved… perhaps with you? From Bev's foster parents: We've had Bev since January and, boy, she's come such a long way! Though she was seemingly un-phased by the change in environment (and a lot of things), she was a bit touchy with us and wouldn't let her foster brothers come anywhere near her. Now, she follows us around everywhere we go and will come when called. She has even crawled up to sit on our chests without being prompted. Bev would still prefer to be the only kitty in the house, though! Also, believe it or not, she gives actual kisses/likes to groom her humans!" Bev has stomatitis, a condition that causes sores and inflammation inside the mouth. To help manage her symptoms, she has had most of her teeth extracted (all but her canines) and is currently on a wet food only diet, which she isn't complaining about! (Her foster moms think she could be the next face for Friskies—come on, just look at that gummy smile!) Bev is also FIV positive, a virus that weakens the immune system (Note: FIV-positive cats can live normal lives, both in quality and duration. They just need to be monitored for infections. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions regarding Bev's health). Age: ~6-8  years How I came to PAWS: Found as stray Animal ID#: A38516262 I am not at the shelter.  Brienne is a sweet and independent kitty looking for a quiet home and occasional playtime. Brienne was found as a stray and would do best in a quiet, calm environment. She is startled somewhat easily by new noises and sudden movements, and needs someone who will be patient as she gets used to her home. When she's comfortable at home, she will meow when she is looking for petting. She likes having her cheeks scratched and being pet under her chin. She loves to nap in her cushion bed, in closets, and under furniture. Brienne plays with toy mice, ping pong balls, and other cat toys on her own, and likes to chase the "da bird" toy on a stick. She is not scared of other animals and will let her foster mom clip her claws when she's sleepy.  If you're looking for a cat who will hug you back as much as you hug him, look no further! Darren is a friendly boy who will chat about his day as you walk in then melt into your lap the second you sit down. After his daily update is finished he will settle into your arms and blink his gorgeous green eyes at you. Darren enjoys mealtimes, patrols around the house and following his foster parent around helping out with chores, but his all-time favorite activity is an all-hands-on-deck cuddle session when he holds onto your shoulder as you stroke him. Darren has had some teeth removed but it doesn't stop him at all, it just means he needs a soft food diet. If you're looking for a total, complete snugglebug, Darren is absolutely your man!  George and his dad Eddie were surrendered by their previous owner because he was moving and unable to take them with him. George is the more outgoing part of this father son team. George will happily greet people and when Eddie sees that, he knows it's ok to be himself as well. You can tell they love each other and when they are comfortable with you, they will love you too. George occasionally will sleep on top of Eddie just to be as close as possible. They enjoy nothing more than just curling up in your lap. They have a playful side too - Eddie has been know to wear his Hawaiian shirt on special occasions and George will wear his sombrero though it seems like he wears it more to please others than himself. Eddie & George would love a home where they can stay together.  We believe that the ideal home will keep them socialized and will be patient as they adjust to living in a new home. They would also be ok with another small polite dog if you are looking to add to your family. George and Eddie like to go on walks and explore their surroundings, and some cute cozy sweaters will surely keep them warm during chilly temps.  Age: 2 to 3 years (George) & 4-5 years (Eddie) How I came to PAWS: Owner Surrender - moving Animal ID#: A43055789 Weight: 8.2 lbs  Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess.  Hopefully, you are a Bewitched fan to appreciate this girl's name! Gladys Kravitz is quite a curious cat and is often peeking outside her cage wondering what is going on.  If she had curtains, she would likely constantly be peering out from behind them! During time outside of her cage, she loves to mosey around and check everything out.  Herbie is a rambunctious, cuddly kitty looking for his forever home! This melon man loves to explore all the little nooks and crannies of his living space, and always keeps track of when it's dinnertime. He's happy to meet you at the door after your workday and let you tell him all about what happened while he snuggles in your lap, then follow you around while you make dinner. His spunky personality means he'll do best as the only pet in the house, so he can have aaaaall of your attention for himself! The cataract in his right eye makes him look like he's rocking a monocle, which he thinks makes him look extra sophisticated and refined. Don't worry, he can see just fine – it's a fashion statement!  Herman is a beautiful, lovable and an energetic little man! He loves long walks, sitting outside, cuddling and being groomed. While Herman likes hanging out with his human friends, we think he would be happier to be the only pet in the home. He could potentially live with  kids of all ages, he just would have to meet the children before adopting so we can determine if it is a good match. This 10 pound bundle of love just wants to be in the middle of everything. He doesn’t need a luxury home or material items, all he needs is someone to love.  Name: Herman Location: Northeast Adoption Center  Breed: Chihuahua mix (Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label) Age: 6-10 years Weight: 9 pounds Reason for surrender to shelter: Herman was found as a stray.  Honey is my name and yes, I am sweet! I'm friendly, approachable, and ready to meet the people I'll share my forever home with! I may have a bit of a resting grumpy face sometimes, especially when I'm just waking up -- but who isn't a little groggy in the morning?? I have a healthy curiosity of what's going on around me, mostly in hopes that a human will come by, pay me some attention and give me some head rubs! I'm a social girl who will snuggle up to anyone who is willing to give me head scratches and kisses! My name is Inanna but my foster mom just calls me “Nanna” for short. My favorite activities include chasing my fish taco toy and curling up in my foster mom’s lap. You may have noticed that my left front leg looks a little different, but it doesn’t bother me one bit! I can easily keep up with my foster siblings and I love to play. I could be happy in a home with other cats or as the only queen in the castle. Skills include: pouncing like a lion and stealing the attention of everyone in the room.   Jack-O is a friendly, sweet boy looking for a forever home! He is the sweetest boy you'll meet! He is a quiet boy loves nuzzling and being petted. He loves people and can get familiar with strangers almost immediately. He'll accompany you no matter what you are doing. The best thing is, you can always catch him if you sit cross-legged! He is happiest when being stroked. Jack-O does need a little extra attention to their health due to the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which means illnesses can be easier to catch and harder to fight off.  Kit-Kat is a feisty little girl that was found on the streets (being tough as usual) back in April before being brought to PAWS. She is around 4 years old, but has just as much energy as a kitten! She loves chasing balls, toy mice, feathers, and anything that catches her eye. Kit-Kat loves to cuddle, get head scratches, and even curl up under the blankets in bed with you!  Lily's soulful expression will win over just about anyone! This sweet and energetic girl loves to solve the mysteries of the world by sniffing one block at a time, but she can only go so far without a family to share her stories with! She could use some help getting more socialized with other dogs and walking better on her leash, but she's just too excited to get out and explore to pay attention to the path she's walking! If you're ready and looking for a strong-willed pupper to brighten your home, we have the girl for you right here!   Some notes from her current foster:  Lily is a happy and enthusiastic girl who is *really* excited to meet everyone.  She has shown to be very smart with obedience and behavior training. She really enjoys spending time with her people and practicing training games, receiving belly rubs, chewing bones and earning treats! When play time is done she also loves to curl up on the couch next to me and promptly start snoring. She is house trained and crate trained. She would do best in a home with no cats, small dogs or children.   She would fit in great in a house that would enjoy further progressing her obedience training beyond the basics. She is so smart and loves the mental stimulation from training games, food-related hide and seek and food puzzles. I could totally see her really enjoy taking part in agility or trick  training. She loves playing with toys and chewing bones. She generally has good house manners *except* we are still working on keeping noses off of the counter. She is becoming a good leash walker and really starting to show off her loose leash walking skills. She is still working on not reacting to other reactive dogs that pass her on her walks though. A fenced in yard would be best because she loves to get her zoomies out with a good run in the afternoon. Age: 1-2 years old How I came to PAWS: Was jealous of the child in the home. Adjusting to new environments and faces takes her a moment, but after she's settled in, it's clear that Lulu Lemon is a very affectionate dog who thoroughly enjoys the company of people. As far as Lulu is concerned, once you're a friend, you're a friend for life!  ** Lulu is special needs because she was diagnosed with mammary cancer. While her adopters are welcome to pursue diagnostics and treatment on their own- such as radiation therapy, etc., it is not a requirement for Lulu's adoption, and adopters are also more than welcome to just focus on palliative care so she can stay comfortable for however much time she has left. Lulu could be happy in any home that is mindful of her condition, can keep up with any future meds and general medical monitoring, and will keep in touch with their vet about her medical situation. Please email adoptions@phillypaws.org if you would like more details about this sweet lady's medical history. ** Age: 8 to 10+years  How I came to PAWS: Owner Surrender due to health of owner/family Animal ID#:  A42667600 Size/Weight: Small Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess.    Magoo is safely in our care after having wandered the city streets as a stray. Having very limited vision and hearing doesn't slow Mr. Magoo down, he enjoys going on walks and making new human friends. When it comes to forever homes, this friendly dog seeks a supportive, adults-only household that will cater to his senior needs and keep Magoo comfortable in his golden years. Mr. Magoo takes daily eye meds and once his coat grows in, it will require frequent brushing. Magoo is labeled a "special needs" pet because he has little-to-no hearing and vision presently. His home should greatly limit his access to stairs, and should try to keep a relatively consistent layout to make it easier for him to navigate. To keep Magoo's eyes comfortable he'll be on daily eye meds indefinitely.  It doesn't take long for Merriweather to open up and show her wonderful personality. She has always been a well-loved little housecat. She spent nine years with her previous guardian, who sadly passed away. Now she is looking for a new special person or family to shower with affection. This lovely lady loves to play with toys, providing entertainment for both you and her! She loves to snuggle in (on her terms of course!) and is a constant source of joy. It's also very easy to tell when she is happy (which is most of the time), because she has such a loud and pleasant purr. It's a sound that can melt even the toughest person's heart. Merriweather is currently in foster care and has adapted very well. She can coexist with other cats, but can grow tired of antics from kittens. Come meet this incredible lady today! Merriweather is in good health, however she has feline asthma which doesn't interfere with a good quality of life.  Meet Thumper (or Milkshake, as we've been calling him), a sweet and spunky boy ready to wiggle right into your heart! This cookies-and-cream boy came to PAWS after an unfortunate encounter with a car that left him with a fractured pelvis, but don't think for a moment that that's dampened his spirits. Milkshake has made a great recovery, to the point where it's been hard to keep him contained (much to his foster family's chagrin)! Play pen? No thanks. Baby gate? Not a problem. This tricky guy can saunter and sweet-talk his way around any obstacle, it seems. You wouldn't know he had any injury at all if not for his runway-ready crossover walk. This guy is a total sweetheart, and he's made friends with everyone he's met (including other cats). He loves head scritches, getting brushed, or just taking a nap curled up next to you. His other passion: food! Never met a cat so excited about all types of food as much as this guy. He can be sneaky, so keep your eyes on that hoagie! Because of his injury, Milkshake has 2 meds that he will have to take indefinitely. He's restricted to wet food because of some missing teeth (which sometimes gives him a silly lil smile), but the nice part is that he can take his meds in his food, so mealtime is a breeze! This easy-going guy is tough to faze. Milkshake is a wonderful guy with a great personality, lovely little trill, and a laid-back attitude that would make him a perfect addition to any family. We just recommend he go to a home without small children, who might accidentally be a little rough with him. Schedule to me meet him today — we promise you'll fall in love with this sweet boy!  Formerly known as Queen Sneeze, this laid back and loving lady is now named Mini, as her rapid fire sneezes are like mini gun shots. She seems to have chronic congestion, but it is not as apparent when she is in a low-stress environment. Mini is an incredibly loving girl and a great cuddle buddy. She may take a little time to warm up to someone new, but once she warms up it's like you're old friends. She absolutely loves having her long fur brushed, especially on her head and cheeks. She can be playful when she wants to be, but likes being petted more. She's tranquil and relaxed, and even though she's not needy, she's always game for loving and caring company.  If you are looking for two sweet, playful and snuggly girls, Moshie and Mufasa are for you.  These bonded twin girls are virtually impossible to tell apart. Both have soft, silver-grey fur, and gorgeous greenish-gold eyes. They love to play together, but when they are tired, both will jump on your lap for a snooze.  I'm a relaxed, chirpy little cat looking for a nice human to headbutt.  This is a friendly sweet relaxed pretty cat! She enjoys rubbing and nudging against the legs of any person who is willing to come say hi to her and chatting about her day. Mouse chirps and meows when you come home or wake up in the morning and loves having her chin, head, and back scratched. Mouse is a very laid-back cat. She spends most of the day lounging on the staircase or under a chair, watching people and her kittens. The kittens are almost old enough to go their own way now, so it's time for Mouse to find her own forever home. Mouse's ideal home would have places where she can lounge and watch the house activities, some lovely fun things to scratch (she doesn't go for many toys), and people to chitchat with and headbutt affectionately. When she is being petted and scratched she becomes a little wriggy thing and it's so cute. Mouse seems relaxed around other animals, although she hasn't been specifically checked for temperament with other dogs and cats yet. She would do fine with children because her first line of defense when she is annoyed is squirming away, not using her claws or growling. If you want a very pretty, laid-back, low maintenance, affectionate and chirpy friend, Mouse is your girl!   Age: 4-8 years How I came to PAWS: Found Stray Animal ID#: A42510562 I am not at the shelter.  Mushy really lives up to his name! This charismatic and affectionate 8 year old is a big softie who makes friends with everyone he meets. A staff and volunteer favorite during his stay at the shelter, Mushy is now showing us what a wonderful companion he is in foster care. This gentle friend is happiest when he's near you and will find a comfy spot to settle down wherever you happen to be. He is meticulous in his grooming and loves getting brushed - he even loves to groom people! Mushy is a big fan of Temptations treats and will even do some tricks for that reward. In his current foster home he has lived with a dog and several cats. He does well with dogs that are respectful of his space. As for cat companions, he would prefer to be the cat in charge but given the right match he would do well with cat friends. Mushy has diabetes, which is easily managed with prescription food and twice daily insulin injections (he's very cooperative with his meds)! This big sweet boy is well worth the effort, and will repay you with so much love. Drop us a line to learn more about Mushy today! Age: 8 yrs. Animal ID#: A31224987 I am not at the shelter.  Man about town with a lot to say and loves to play!   Nick Furry is an affectionate, playful, talkative boy who needs a loving environment in which these endlessly endearing qualities can be fostered. He doesn’t mind being keeping busy with toys or food puzzles while you’re away at work or school, but also waits for you to get home so you can help him work off some energy with some serious playtime! He absolutely loves being pet gently on the head or being scratched on the cheek, and will jump on your lap for hugs if he thinks it’s been too long since your last cuddle session. He thrives in a single-animal environment, but he has an open mind for smaller, docile dogs or a gradual introduction to other kitty friends. Younger children might not be able to keep up with his pace, so he prefers a household with those who don’t shy away from keeping him entertained.  Little lap dog Nicky would love to snuggle up with you on a chilly evening! Shy at first but then incredibly sweet, Nicky warms to new people and surroundings after taking a moment to adjust. He's a senior who'd love to spend his golden years in a quiet home . We believe Nicky could befriend another small, well-mannered dog, although he may do just fine as a solo pup. Nicky has a wispy, curly coat that requires brushing and periodic grooming in order to avoid matting. His eyes are a little sensitive so he's on longer term drops to keep them happy and healthy. Nicky doesn't mind playing a bit of "dress up," either- he came to us fairly matted and now wears stylish doggie coats to keep him warm while he fur grows back in after a nice shave.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4okWAl9Uuo0Pearl Noir is a beautiful, affectionate polydactyl lady looking for love! She enjoys the finer things in life, like a comfy bed and a tasty meal. Once she knows you, she’ll be head-butting you for endless pets. Her favorite thing to do is make muffins with her adorable extra thumbs. She loves to sleep next to her person at night and get out of bed with them each morning. She will also be there to greet you at the door as soon as you come home. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her toy mice and rubbing up against her person. Pearl Noir has FIV, which is a virus that attacks the immune system of a cat. This just means she will need a stable, low-stress home environment, a healthy diet, and regular veterinary care. This virus is not contagious to humans, dogs, or other animals. It can be transmitted between cats through deep puncture bite wounds, so FIV-positive cats can still live with FIV-negative cats as long as they get along and do not fight. FIV-positive cats do not require any special medical care or medication and can still live very happy lives! If you are looking for a sweet, mellow cat, Pearl Noir is your girl!   Shy mama looking for a quiet house and lots of independence!   This shy mama loves a quiet space with not a lot of foot traffic. She is very laid back and would rather explore your home than play with a toy! She can be extremely shy in a new place. Persephone prefers some dark and quiet places to hide when she's feeling shy. She can take a long time to adjust, but don't worry because food is the way to heart! Once she has a good meal and some yummy treats, she loves a good head and neck scratch until she falls asleep. It's also super important to know that Persephone will do anything for a treat! Also, don't worry about not knowing when to feed her. She will always let you know when she's hungry by meowing and chirping!   Does well with other cats. Unknown if she can do well with dogs or larger animals.  Pinta is a calm and sweet cat who loves being in the presence of humans, and would be perfect for beginner cat guardians. Pinta is an adorable cat who loves to follow her humans around the house, rub up against them, and sit near them. When the door opens, she trots down the hallway to greet anyone coming in. She's very curious and can be a bit mischievous at times. She'll love to explore all the crevices and spaces in your home, and is responsive to your encouragement or distraction. Pinta tries her best to communicate with humans--she is a good listener, and can be chatty too. Overall, she is a very laid-back cat, and spends most of her time laying down.   This cat is basically the GOAT. Pogo is the most curious and sweet cat EVER. She has such a fun, goofy, and playful personality. Because of some previous dental-surgery she has the most adorable, semi-permanent blep. It’s amazing. She is sweet and snuggly, but still independent. It all amounts to her being really easy going and good natured. At night she sometimes likes to snug, sometimes likes to sleep on the couch, and other times is a bit playful. She’s SUPER into catnip, and for a full adult has the energy of a kitten when she’s in a playful mood.  Pogo is very smart and I think if you wanted to train her to do tricks, she’d catch on really quickly. Also, when I’ve had folks over to meet her, she’s really outgoing and social – she loves pets and rubs, and even follows me from room to room when she’s feeling particularly social. She’s on a wet-food only diet because of the dental surgery, but she’s on it when the food shows up - she eats everything and even licks the bowl clean. Another cute thing she does: sometimes she picks up some food with her paw and eats it from there. Amazing.   "I am a good girl, who loves to cuddle. My favorite thing is to watch you watch TV with my head on your lap. I have a lot of energy and would do great with a fenced in back yard. I would do best as the only pet, with a house of Big Humans." Baby Sassafras is high energy, friendly, affectionate, and warms up to people quickly. Sassafras is almost always excited to meet new people and allows strangers to pet her - receiving attention is a must for this young dog! The ideal home would make exercise a priority for this young pup. Since Sassafras is still a puppy and has a lot to learn, obedience training would do her a great deal of good.  Age: 6 months to 1 year How I came to PAWS: Found as stray Animal ID#: A42825781 Weight: 37 lbs Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess.  How can you not love that goofy smile?! Don’t let her age deceive you, Shailah is as energetic, silly, and playful as a dog half her age. This sweet, affectionate girl loves to be snuggled up by your side with her head on your lap while you scratch behind her ears. She is great with new people of all ages (as demonstrated by the many kisses she’ll give) and just a total love bug. She also loves long walks and has not let her age slow her down one bit. She's got plenty of energy to spare and will need a strong handler to guide her while she's out and about exploring the world with you. Shailah is fully housebroken and very food motivated which makes teaching her new tricks a breeze.  Joe is your very own Golden Panther who plays hard and sleeps harder. Come say hi Slow Man Joe, Joe, or Jo-Jo depending on his mood.  This fun-loving cat came to us with a broken back leg and has been spending the past couple of months leaning to run around again after being stuck in a cast for a while.  And boy, does he like running around. He still has trouble jumping any higher than a chair or sofa, though that doesn't stop him from exploring all over.  He's always trying to get the other cats to play with him. So he DEFINITELY wants a companion, especially if it's another large playful cat, or a dog (he has met a few and wasn't phased at all). He is a large strong cat, not fat, just large and muscular, so he does play a bit rough. He loves to always be near any action going on. Joe is very affectionate in his own Jo-Jo way. He loves to try to groom you and will place his head in your hand so that you know to scratch his head and ears.   Come stop by to meet Joe, our very own Golden Panther Age: 2-4 years How I came to PAWS: Found Stray with broken leg Animal ID#: A41627667 I am not at the shelter.  A loveable, cuddly, friendly, playful, biscuit maker who is looking for a his forever family. Sporkchop is a friendly, affectionate and playful kitten who wants nothing more than to be with you. He has been in foster care to heal from some hip and pelvis injuries, getting spoiled and pampered and carried everywhere. Now that he is on the mend, he can't wait to explore and play with you, be it a ball, a mousie, or a wand. When he is done, he would love to take a snooze on your lap, in your arms, or on your computer. Or he may just want a suckle, biscuit making session. Either way, he wants to be with you, your family, a buddy or anyone else he meets. Sporkchop still needs to limit his activity until he fully heals and will need some monitoring by the vet to monitor his progress. This may include some pain medication in the short term.  A regal stare with eye-catching hair? Why, that's Tater Tot! This high energy, assertive pup found his way to PAW after being surrendered by a previous owner. We believe Tater Tot would do well in a dog-experienced home, an adults-only household that will make socialization and training a priority.  Toffee is sweet, affectionate and loves to play! Meet Toffee. She takes some time to get used to new people and places, but once she warms up, you'll see that she's a sweet and fun cat.   Toffee was a devoted super-mom to her five kittens, but now that most of them are adopted out, she’s ready to become somebody’s loving, forever friend. It's too soon to tell if she'd do well with another cat, dog or children, but she is a little more on the shy side.   The category is: TABBY BOY REALNESS!! Meet Tony!  Tony is a sweet-talkin’ chonk who always gets what he wants. Tony loves the camera and the camera loves him! He’s always dressed to impress, cuz you never know who you’ll run into honey! Tony is quite the socialite, and loves meeting new people. He can often be found on the closest available lap and has the warmest snuggles and loudest purrs! Who wouldn’t want a Tony of their very own? Life wasn’t always so glamorous for our little fashion cat. One fateful evening, Tony charmed some unsuspecting cops into giving him a ride in their squad car to the city shelter. PAWS scooped him up, and the rest is history! Tony doesn’t ask for much, just a lap to sleep on and a drawer for his bow ties. Although, he’ll probably try to take a whole closet. Tony’s a man who knows what he wants. Likes: Accessories, boxes, gazing out windows, posing next to fruit, photos of himself, a well-organized bowtie drawer, singing to you outside the shower, and your undivided attention. Tony would prefer to be the only kitty in the house so he can have all your attention to himself! Tony and his bow ties are currently living in foster care! For more information please email his foster mom at ndianno@gmail.com Tony is FIV+ and fabulous!   You’ve heard of a trophy wife? Well, I’m a trophy cat—a young attractive guy who will make any human companion look good. Basic black goes with everything and everyone, after all. But I am more than just a bit of lap candy. A little curious and a little playful, what I mainly am is affectionate. I know how to sit in a lap, strike a darn cute pose, and gaze into your eyes with an expression that says, “I don’t just love your hands. I love you!” To win this Trophy, just come to PAWS Northeast.   If you’re looking for a cuddly companion look no further than Tucker! His absolute favorite spot to be is sitting in your lap purring away! Beware of the constant purring with this little man - Tucker loves to lounge in laps and is always looking for head scratches and belly rubs! The most athletic of all his brothers, Tucker loves to show off by reaching the highest point of the kitty castle with ease!  Twilight is a lady who knows what she wants!  And right now – that’s a forever family. Twilight has been at the shelter since the spring due to an eye issue, but is now healthy and ready to find her own soft comfy bed with a bit of sunshine for her afternoon naps.  Twilight is a sassy, but sweet gal who is still working on confidence and would do best in a calm household where she can learn to feel comfortable with a routine.  Because of this Twilight should be in an adult only home where she can be the only cat in your life.  A perfect day for her would include some alone time where she can bird watch or just chill out and then an evening where she can join in a good binge of the latest tv series with a little bit of play sprinkled in between.  Hi there, I'm Tyler! I'm a friendly, curious guy who loves to play and make new friends super fast! Tyler is a handsome guy who loves attention. He likes to rub against your legs until you pet him: scratch his head, stroke his back, or even rub his tummy sometimes -- he loves it all! Tyler likes to spend a lot of the day lounging on the bed or a sofa, but he also likes to explore his home, sometimes jumping up to high places, and play with his foster brother.  This little lady came into our care after being found as a stray on the city streets. Wednesday is currently adjusting to foster care and the new surroundings, she's a bit nervous and it takes some time for her to open up. Wednesday has semi-shaggy, wavy fur, needs regular brushing and grooming in order to avoid painful mats. We believe Wednesday would thrive in an adult-only home that can provide much patience and tender loving care.  Age: 1 to 2 years  How I came to PAWS: Found As Stray Animal ID#: A42870016 Weight: 12.6 lbs  Mixed breed (It’s impossible to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess.  Meet Zapp Brannigan, a handsome little orange guy who likes lap time almost as much as he likes nap time. He likes other cats that can match his energy, and loves any and all toys—especially wand ones and laser pointers that can get him jumping and running! Zapp was found as a stray this past Spring and was sick for quite a while, until PAWS vets determined that allergies were prompting his perpetual illness. Zapp is much more stable now on a hypoallergenic diet, and his adopters will need to keep him on that strict diet to avoid relapse into illness again. Zapp's hobbies include doing pigeon impressions, soliciting head pats, and playing tag with the other resident and foster kitties in the home. He's very food motivated (so guard your human snacks!), and toy motivated, so if you need him to do something for you just butter him up with those sweet, sweet bribes. Zapp especially loves forehead rubs, he tolerates kisses, and is a two-time Regional Head Bonk Champion—in his mind, at least. **This animal has additional medical needs that the foster would like to discuss before setting up a meet to adopt.** Age: ~2 years  Reason for surrender: Found as stray Animal ID#: A38288232 Current location: Foster care (this pet is not at the shelter). Please email my foster parent at angela@phillypaws.org for more information about me!  Please apply online by emailing  adoptions@phillypaws.org_____________________________________ To adopt a cat, complete the application at phillypaws.org/catapp.To adopt a dog, complete the application at phillypaws.org/dogapp.            Please reference this animal's ID NUMBER when inquiring.
