About Thelma

Thelma and Louise were tossed out in the Walmart parking lot here in Decherd Tennessee. These two are like two peas in a pod. We believe them to be around 3 months old. They appear to be Australian Cattle Dog ( Blue/Red Heeler ), Jack Russell Mix. They are very energetic and will require training but they are great little pups. They have had one round of vaccines and are waiting to be spayed. We would love to see them go together but will separate if needs be. Frederick is his name but he also goes by Fred. He is a black & white border collie mix, approximately 4 years old and weighs 55/60 lbs. Like most border collies, he is very high energy when he is outside because he loves to play. He can be a little rough though as he loves toys and jumps hard and that an be a little rowdy in the house but usually calms down pretty quick. He would be great in a home with another high energy dog as he would love someone to play rough with him. He isn't mean at all though. Not long ago he had an encounter with a rattlesnake. He such a sweet guy that he didn't even want to hurt the snake, he just wanted to play. Well, that got him 2 days and nights at the vet's office. He pulled through with flying colors but his tongue has a few places on it where the tissue died from the bite but that does not stop him or interfere with anything he does. Even when bitten, he was still trying to run and play with his toy blocks with his mouth and face all swollen. He is 100% better today and happy to be able to play with his blocks again. He's not all rough and tumble. He loves attention and affection and particularily likes snuggles. All in all, he is just a big teddy bear and will be a fabulous addition to any family. Mon Cheri is a sixteen-week-old medium-haired black and white kitten with a zest for life. Mon Cheri’s young life started out with challenges due to being found underneath a car hood trapped in the car’s motor. This required a back leg amputation- Town and Country Veterinary Hospital graciously provided this sweet kitten a second chance at life by performing this life-changing operation. Now it is Animal Harbor’s turn to help find a forever home for Mon Cheri. Mon Cheri had to spend her first couple of months in isolation to assure she healed successfully. During this time, she became best friends with orphaned Phoenix, who we let play with her in her kennel under supervision. Each day Mon Cheri looked forward to her playdates with Phoenix, and you would never believe this spunky kitten was missing a leg. We are so excited to say that finally both Mon Cheri and Phoenix are healthy enough to go into a community room together where they have plenty of room to play and have exposure to enrichment every young kitten deserves. At this time we would really love for this dynamic duo that beat the odds together go into a home together. Mon Cheri is up to date on vaccinations, FIV/FeLV negative, and awaiting her spay and microchip implantation. This Kitten will be spayed before leaving our facility and she also will have to remain in the facility until she is 2 weeks clear of surgery. This will ensure she is healed and well before heading to her new forever home. If that home is yours, please email kattiewithanimalharbor@gmail.com to inquire. Monk is Located in Winchester Tennessee. The facility's name is Animal Harbor. Monk Is believed to be a 3-year-old American Bulldog/American Pitbull Terrier Mix. Monk is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and UTD on all shots. He has had some rough patches in life. He ended up in our local Animal Control where he spent almost 6 months. We went to pull some dogs, saw him and fell in love. He got his name because our Adoption Coordinator said his soulful look reminded her of a monk. Monk has had it rough since coming to our facility from having a severe happy tail that resulted in his tail being docked to being brought back after being starved and displaced. We have since sent him into a home where they gave up on him after a week. Simply put Monk needs someone who will be with him for the long hall. He is full of energy. He loves his food. He is a dog that would need to be fed separately from everyone else because he does resource guard. This is due to his past home hardly feeding him at all. We would love for Monk to have a huge yard and a family who will allow him to be a part of their life and not just thrown in a pen. He deserves 100 %. Monk is super dog-friendly. Small children are probably not a good idea simply because Monk does not know his size. He is a big boy and very well may knock them down by accident. Monk will need to have someone who is willing to continue training with him. We feel in order for him to succeed this is a key element. If you would like more information on Monk please feel free to email kattiewithanimalharbor@gmail.com. We transport with Rescue Riders LLC - the most animal-friendly transport on the road show less

Pie is a red and white piebald three-year-old pittie mix. Pie received her name for her piebald coat color and amazing “sweet as pie” personality. Pie was immediately diagnosed with heartworm disease when her original owners surrendered her to Animal Harbor in March. Luckily a very generous donor supported Pie during her treatment, and we could not be happier to finally have her healthy and ready for adoption. Six months of heartworm treatment and being housed in a shelter environment has been very stressful for Pie. She is very attached to people and has a very strong desire to be around them. Animal Harbor staff members have become her family, but she is so ready for a new life in a new loving, understanding home. She prefers a nice lap and comfy couch for snuggles and endless kisses. Socially, Pie is dog selective but would do well in a home with older children. If you think your family would be a good fit, please contact us to start the adoption process. Pie is up to date on vaccinations and awaiting her heartworm retesting and spay and microchipping procedure.
