Hi! My name is Achilles (A538187) I`m approximately 16 monthsold and weigh roughly 70 pounds. I like playing in water, running, going on walks, riding in the car, playing with toys, cuddling, and meeting new people. I can sit on command, I can shake, I can stay, I can lay down, I`m housebroken, I walk ok on leash, and I`m crate trained . My foster parents said I can be described as an escape artist, smart, playful. You should also know that Achilles has anxiety issues and can get overstimulated very quickly. He is white with very pink, sensitive skin and takes apoquel for allergies. He is very protective of his people and places, but does open up to new people. He is just now learning how to be a dog and very much in the puppy stages of discovery. He is super smart and eager to please, but still uneasy around other dogs so it would be best for him to be an only dog. He was interested but not overly curious about my foster cat and her kittens; she wanted nothing to do with him, but he may do ok with a dog friendly cat. He has not spent much time with children, but didn`t flinch when a couple toddlers rushed to hug him at the vet. My ideal home would be a home that has someone there most of the time as I don`t like to be alone. Sometimes when we`re home and I get anxious/overstimulated, my foster mom puts me on the leash and I settle right down; it`s almost like I`m going to work! I love to be outside in the sun and roll around in the fresh cut grass!! I love all the smells outside and could stay out there forever with my person. I love, love, love car rides!! We haven`t gone on a road trip yet, but I think I`d make an awesome co-pilot! Bandit is medium size - about 41 pounds of fluff and love. He can be shy at first, but warms up quickly to humans and other animals. He`s great with children, other dogs (of all sizes) and was recently introduced to cats, so he is interested in learning what they are! He`s completely housebroken, knows how to sit, and responds well to commands. He walks very well on a leash and has great manners inside and out. He likes to take walks and get belly rubs, but his favorite pastimes are napping and hanging out with his family. He is very sweet, gentle and a perfect family dog. show less

Brandy does have an injured hind leg that does not seem to be broken but possibly just a strain/sprain. Relish is a shy girl who I truly believe wants to be friends but is just too scared. She will sit quietly in the corner of her kennel and watch you give her kennel mate attention but does not get up to interact. She is fairly petit, probably only about 35-40 pounds and does try to sniff your hand if you offer it. Hi! My name is Chance (A478283) I`m approximately 5 years and weigh roughly 50 lbs. I like going on walks, riding in the car, cuddling, meeting new people, being with other dogs, being with children, being with cats. I can sit on command, I`m housebroken, I walk ok on leash, and I`m crate trained . My foster parents said I can be described as calm, laid back, a couch potato, gentle, quiet, affectionate, food motivated, and well behaved. You should also know that I`m is still undergoing medical treatment for some injuries, but I`m getting better everyday. My ideal home would be a relaxed home where I`d stay primarily indoors and would be allowed on the couches/beds/ etc to snuggle all the time!. Chance is the poster pup for being a cuddle bug. He has gained 15 pounds since we`ve taken him home (he was VERY underweight when he got to ACS) and has a nearly new coat. He is house trained, knows basic commands, and is working on taking treats nicely. Chance does well on the leash and with his age and maturity, he doesn`t require very long walks - he`s mostly a couch potato! He has a foster brother and sister that he does very well with and understands his boundaries around. show less

A note from Clover`s foster momClover is an enthusiastic young lady! She had kind of a rough start--she was found as a stray with 6 newborn puppies (none of which made it)--but she`s come a long way! While she is still a little nervous around strangers, when she warms up, she just wants to be your BEST. FRIEND. Clover loves running around the backyard and wrestling with her foster brother and sister, and snuggling up at the end of the day for a nice Netflix marathon. Clover has the sweetest face you can imagine, and when her tail wags, it wags her whole little body! She loves to chew on bones, and sometimes she`ll entertain herself by throwing a Kong toy up in the air and chasing it around the house. Clover is so much fun and she is a joy to be around, and at under 40 pounds, she is the perfect size! Being so young, Clover is full of energy, and would do best in an active home. Clover LOVES being around other dogs, but should meet any future doggy siblings first. She has not been cat tested. Clover has been exposed to children of various ages and was nervous (but still her sweet self), so kid intros are a must as well. She is not food or toy aggressive/possessive, and is a very food motivated learner! This girl will do just about anything for a snack! She is crate trained, potty trained, knows how to `sit` and `come` and we are working on `lay down` (but usually she`s so wiggly it`s more like a flop). Car rides are not her favorite, but she is a very calm, quiet passenger. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines and heartworm/flea prevention, and is SO READY to find her fur-ever home! show less

We are working on house training her- she has caught on quickly and we expect to have her completely house trained by the end of the week. Cooper is a very handsome boy, but he tries to hide it by avoiding the camera as much as he can (he`s so humble.) He walks well on leash and is another one of our calm dogs. He seems to be deaf, but was quick to catch on to a hand signal to sit on command. Don`t let the fact that he`s deaf bother you (it definitely doesn`t bother him) Training a deaf dog can be just as easy as training a hearing dog, it`s just different, but totally doable. Dexter is doing great in his foster home! He is adjusting well to his new environment. He gets along well with his foster brothers and sister, but sometimes is a little too puppy playful for them. He loves to chew on his rope toy and snuggle on the couch with his family when allowed. He is doing awesome with potty-training and is really good in the kennel. He is doing really well on the leash and starting to understand how to walk next to his family. He would be an excellent addition to any home! show less

Ellie is a lab/retriever mix and has really come out of her shell and began to play with the other dogs. She loves to cuddle and eats like a champ. She sleeps in a crate at night although she is a little Houdini and can escape it if you`re not paying attention. If you tell her to lay down and go to bed, she will and stay in the all night with no messes. She is not food aggressive and has only barked a couple times. She`s just a sweetheart!!! show less

A note from Jewel`s foster mom:This petit (about 40 lbs) American Staffordshire Terrier mix is just the silliest, sweetest love bug! She has the cutest little freckle-like spots on her nose and such expressive ears and facial expressions, she is just full of personality! She gets so excited to see and meet everyone, people and animals. It might be a little too much enthusiasm for most cats but she has done well playing with our dog (and they have been playing to the point that our usually playful dog is putting herself to bed early haha!) and greets other dogs we have met nicely as well. She has done wonderfully with our two young children and would be great for a young family. Jewel is super smart! In the short time we have had her she has proven she already knew sit but is starting to learn down, stay, drop it (for playing fetch, which she LOVES) and is now pretty much fully crate trained. She is a big fan of cuddling and will sit right in your lap if given the opportunity. She loves to play fetch, chase squirrels, and goes nuts for pretty much any kind of toy. Jewel would need an active household where she would get lots of love, exercise and attention. She is very submissive when she first meets new people, sometimes barking a little, but warms up once she gets a little reassurance and some belly rubs. She has gained a lot of confidence and is so much more comfortable with new situations/people since she came home with us from the shelter. In a home where she feels secure and safe we are sure she will continue to blossom and let her silly, sweet personality shine through! show less

Meet Maxwell Theodor Hensen Fitzgerald III (or Max for short). We decided to give him a distinguished-sounding name to remind him of the potential he had to be the most wonderful, cutest dog around. You see, ACS labeled him a `diamond in the rough.` The poor guy had a really bad cause of demodex when we decided to foster him and wasn`t quite ready for prime-time. Now after weeks of love, hugs, treatment and treats, he has now grown into his name. Figuratively AND literally. I`ll get to the point: Max is a big boy. He definitely has sweet, goofy lab in him, but it`s combined with great dane/rhodesian ridgeback/big-dog-mutt?? We don`t know, but it`s something big. His paws are quite huge and he is still growing. He`s only about six months and weighs over 60 lbs. -- and probably will be closer to 85-95 lbs. when fully grown. He can sit and our 50 lbs dog fits nicely under his legs. That`s how long and lanky he is. He is house-trained, crate-trained, knows some basic commands, walks on the leash perfectly (better than our dogs!), and is great in the car. He is a big love bug and likes to cuddle. He thinks he is smaller than what he is so he does think he is a lap dog, which can get interesting since he is anything but.... Max gets along with our dogs and mostly ignores the cats (except he does try to play with them sometimes). He does well with older children (has not met young, itty-bitty ones).Even though he doesn`t look like one, Max is still a puppy and still needs to be watched. We left him unattended and he decided to throw a tinker tape parade while we were out and use the magazines and book we left on the coffee table to make the confetti so if you are interested in him, please be okay with the usual puppy `stuff.` If you want a giant love-bug, Max is your guy! show less

This is Raya, formerly known as Sox. She is a blue heeler bull terrier mix. She is about one year old. She has learned so much in our home already! Very smart and eager learner. Appreciates physical praise over food! All she wants is attention and love. She gets excitable and we have been working on asking for attention by sitting next to you, walking calmly in and out of doorways, and sitting while being approached by other people. She is amazing on the leash, no pull and walks right next to you. She likes to chase balls. So far she has not been destructive or caught chewing up anything! She is great with our other dogs and around our 8 yr old daughter. I would suggest a family with older children as she is learning not to jump on people. Raya enjoys `dog time` in the yard with her dog pals, loves the calming effect of walks, and spending time in the living room with the family. She really is a great little girl who has a big heart and a smart mind! show less

Wilfred is a sweet gentle guy. He does pretty well on leash, but will sometimes encourage you to go a little faster (who doesn`t need some extra motivation.) He seems to be potty trained, he does a great job keeping his kennel clean and goes for a looooooong time as soon as he gets outside.
