About Pinch

Pinch is about 2 years old, housetrained, and a real beauty! She was recently in temporary foster home, and here's some of what her foster had to say: Pinch is a sweetie pie! Took her about an hour to feel comfortable in her new temporary foster situation. She seemed very shy at first, but is extremely comfortable. She sits with me when I work (from home due to social distancing). She waits for a treat after our walks during the day. She has even met a new friend on one of our walks. She knows how to sit and shake for a treat. Will continue to try to work on some other tricks. She rarely barks - actually I don't think I have ever heard her bark. She is a little skittish on walks when she hears a loud noise, but then just starts walking right up again. She doesn't pull on the leash. She is totally housetrained and adheres to a scheduled wonderfully. She is happy in her crate and loves a Kong with a treat inside. She also loves stuffed animals to play with. This girl is a treasure. I am so sad I cannot keep her forever. Dare I say she sleeps in the bed with me and sits and watches TV with me on the sofa...I wouldn't list her as a LARGE dog, she is definitely medium and slight and very, very light on her feet - she is like a shadow and follows me around all day.We here at NHS welcomed Pinch from an area rescue organization; she came to them from a hoarding case in January of 2019. When she arrived at NHS she was lacking in confidence and socialization. Noises put her on edge, for instance. In her time here she has made significant progress in kennel behavior and her interaction skills. She LOVES doing zoomies in the yard and playing with other dogs, and she loves people too. Now she needs a loving forever home to give her the chance to fully blossom into the great dog she wants to be. She'd probably do best in a home with no small dogs. If you're dog lover who has time to devote to this very deserving young lady, she would love you forever for giving her a second chance. Please call us at (904) 321-1647 or email info@nassauhumane.org. We'll be happy to set up an appointment for you to meet lovable Pinch!

Meet beautiful Bonsai! He's a super-handsome, very affectionate guy, and he wants to make loving you his full-time occupation. He's very friendly and he's happy to give you hugs or kisses on request. He's an intelligent fellow who knows how to sit for treats, and can catch them mid-air! He's housetrained, knows how to stay, and accept treats gently. He needs a home with no cats and can be dog-selective sometimes, so bring your dog over for a meet-and-greet. He's a "protector" who likes to protect his space, so he could make a very good guard dog. He's highly treat-motivated, which is great for training. He needs to know his rules and guidelines, and with them he should do fine in a home. He has a truly gorgeous brindle-and-cream-colored coat (with tiger stripes!) that's soft for petting. And just look at those bright brown eyes and that wonderful smile! We welcomed him from another North Florida shelter, so he's a true rescue dog. Bonsai is heartworm-positive, so he needs a quiet foster home for a few weeks where he can relax as he rests up after heartworm treatment, which we pay for. We provide you with all the supplies you'll need to keep him, including food, leash and bowls. Soon he'll be heartworm-free and ready to find his forever home. Heartworms aren't contagious between pets -- they're spread by mosquitoes. If you fall in love with him while you're together, you can absolutely foster to adopt! Please watch his video, then call us at (904) 321-1647 or email info@nassauhumane.org to set up an appointment to meet gorgeous Bonsai! show less

Cleetus is a sweet guy who has been through a lot and yet is friendly, good-natured and loves people! We hope you'll call us at (904) 321-1647 and make an appointment to meet him. He's one of about 140 dogs rescued from an alleged severe-neglect situation in Dixie County, FL several few weeks ago. We were happy to accept him and 24 of the others, to treat them and help them find new and better lives. He's good with other dogs here at the shelter and walks nicely on his leash, as you can see on his video. He prefers to do his business outside. He's affectionate, smart and inquisitive! Cleetus arrived with a non-contagious skin condition, which was noticeable when his video was recorded, but he has made huge improvement (as you can see from the pictures of him lounging on his foster's porch!) It's hard to determine his age right now but he's probably a pretty young fellow. He doesn't like to be left alone, so he'll need to be crated when he's by himself. He's heartworm-positive and his current foster can't keep him much longer, so he needs a quiet home for a few weeks where he can relax as he rests up after his heartworm treatment. We provide you with all the supplies you'll need to keep him, including food, leash and bowls. You provide the love! Soon he'll be heartworm-free and ready to find his forever home. Dwayne is a super-sweet love bug, and looking for a friend! He's about 8 years old, and at 95 pounds he's a big guy with a big personality. He's housetrained and well-mannered, and one of his favorite pastimes is lounging in the sun. He walks very nicely on his leash, as you can see on his video. He's one of our staff's favorites, and he absolutely loves people. We think he'd make a great family dog (perhaps with older kids, just because of his size). He's dog-selective, so bring yours over for a meet-and-greet -- he prefers submissive female dog friends. He passed a cat test here at the shelter, but we can't guarantee he'd be good with cats who may run. He was found as a stray, so he's a true rescue dog. He's unbelievably handsome, with a gorgeous black and tan coat and bright brown eyes. He's an affectionate "leaner" who will gently lean in on you to soak up all the loving he can get. Dwayne needs a special friend right now, because he's heartworm-positive. He's looking for a quiet foster home for a few weeks where he can relax as he rests up after the heartworm treatment, which we pay for. We provide you with all the supplies you'll need to keep him, including food, leash and bowls. You provide the love! Soon he'll be heartworm-free and ready to find his forever home. That incredibly sweet face is looking to you for love! Ginger is about 7 years old and medium-sized, with a red coat and soulful brown eyes. She's a very sweet girl with a quiet nature. She walks well on her leash, as you can see on her video, and she's housetrained. She's quite affectionate and she loves to cuddle, and will give you kisses on request. She's accustomed to living in a home, and she knows how to sit, stay and come. She has separation anxiety, and she'd probably do best in a home where someone could always be with her -- we think you'll find she's well worth the commitment. She enjoys car rides and quiet companionship. She might do best in a home without cats; if you have a dog, please bring your pet over for a meet-and-greet. Ginger sits for treats and accepts them gently. She's crate-trained and even comes with her own crate. Also, since she's an older gal and the transition from a shelter to a home can be hard on a dog, she also comes with three free professional training sessions from K9Pro. Someone clipped her ears along the way, but she's still very happy to be scratched behind them. Her owner said she's "the most laid-back and down to ride dog I've encountered," a one-of-a-kind dog who "most definitely will bring out the loving side in the toughest of people." She's already spayed, microchipped and up to date on her shots, and ready to go home with you. Please come meet sweet Ginger! show less
