About Gremmie

Gremmie doesn't wag her tail like most other dogs. She's way happier than that. Her entire lower body swings back and forth in a full-body wiggle. Her tail is like a metronome--every morning when her foster family opens their eyes, the first thing they hear is the rapid fire tap-tap-tap-tap of her tail in the crate. She's like a little love engine revving up. Gremmie’s ready for whatever you have on the agenda. A trail run or hike in the mountains? Gremmie’s all in! A quiet day at home doing quality control on her dog bed? Sounds great to Gremmie. She has a cute habit of “chatting” with little sounds, and she’s always happy to have a conversation with you during the day. Gremmie enjoys people of all ages, even showing off her hostess skills during a dinner gathering at her foster home. The more the merrier, in her opinion! Her foster family describes her as “a perfectly polite little angel” in the house. And the thing that makes her happiest of all is jumping in your lap for a full body hug. About 2 years old and 45 pounds, Gremmie is crate-trained, house-trained, micro-chipped, up to date on routine vaccinations and working on her basic commands.

If you believe that ball is life and things that are derpier are just better, might we introduce you to Arby? Arby joined us by way of Dogs Playing For Life’s National Canine Center, where he underwent extensive training--in fact, he was almost an explosives detection dog, but a hip surgery held him back from going to work! Now, Arby is plenty healthy for family time and has been making a name for himself with his great house manners, crate skills, pleasant leash manners, and willingness to play fetch any time, any place--you name it, he’s there! Arby is a people pleaser and loves to show off his “park it” while he waits for you to tell him, “Fetch!” And when the game is over, he’s content to lounge around with you and any new friends you’ve invited over along the way. He happily crunches on baby carrots when it’s time to help in the kitchen, and if you need a little pick me up smile, he’ll give you his signature nose nudge to remind you, “Hey! No matter what’s going on in life, soon it will be time to play ball again--and everything will be good!” This derpy boy (just wait til you see his lip get caught on his teeth as he gives you his eager grin…) is ready to find his future family and make every day a happy, happy day. About 3 years old and 70 pounds, Arby is crate-trained, house-trained, micro-chipped, up to date on routine vaccinations and knows his basic commands plus more. show less

Mama: An accomplished snuggler, a keen adventure trotter, an ice cream enthusiast, a toy hoarder to the max. She’s a whirling dervish of 100% delight--she is who she is. Mama joined us as part of a long journey that began in Canada, where she was confiscated as part of a dog fighting bust. After a several years long battle for the dogs to be released to rescue, Mama made her way to the Dogs Playing For Life National Canine Center in Florida for a chance to have a brighter future. There, she learned what it really means to be a dog, gaining the life skills, confidence, and training she needed as she prepared to search for an adopter. Never one to shy away from an epic adventure, Mama took a cross country road trip to Los Angeles--and the rest is history! Since her arrival, Mama has impressed us at every turn--not only with the excellent training and skills she brought with her from Dogs Playing For Life, but at her resilience and genuine zest for life. She is hilarious, loving, and takes delight in so many things. She’s never met a toy or an ice cream flavor she didn’t like. She loves vacation as much as anyone--even taking to kayaking like she’d been there, done that 100 times before (she hadn’t). Though sometimes we suspect she was sent from outer space to collect information on us, every day with Mama is heart-filling and wonderful. And now she’s ready to find her next set of people--the forever kind--who will love Mama for all things uniquely Mama. About 6 years old and 40 pounds, Mama is crate-trained, house-trained, micro-chipped, up to date on routine vaccinations and knows many obedience commands. show less
