Saphira is a 3-year-old small Husky mix and Amira is a 2-year-old Belgium Malinois. They are fun and loving dogs that would not require a lot of training. They were picked up as strays by the county. Their owner came forward, but did not end up taking them back. So, Saving Paws Rescue took them in order to find them a forever home. They are bonded, so the pair needs to be placed together – with no other dogs in the home. They would be fine with older kids, but not little kids. Saphira and Amira are both easy going and loving. They are socialized with people, know basic commands and walk well on a leash. Amira is more ball driven and the more independent one, while Saphira is more about people and is the more affectionate one. Neither one has shown any signs of anxiety. So, it would be fine for them to go to a home with someone home a lot or with someone who works a regular 8-5 M-F type job. If you have a place in your home for a pair of sweet dogs that don’t need extensive training, contact the rescue about these two. If you can give Amira and Saphira an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. Hi friends! Nice to meet ya! My name is Archie and I am a handsome 2 year old handsome GSD looking for my perfect forever family and home. I’ve had quite the array of adventures in my life so far, even though I am such a young guy. I was first rescued after I had been living in the streets for quite some time, and then the nice people from the Humane Animal Rescue and Trapping Team (HARTT) worked hard to get me out of the streets and into safety. I was shy at first but boy did I come out of my shell quick when I found out just how awesome human friends can be! I came to SPR shortly after so that they could help me find my forever home. I quickly made lots and lots of friends here, both human and canine! I was adopted pretty quickly but it just wasn’t the right match for me, so I am back with my friends at Saving Paws. They say that I am a very good boy, but I get very attached to my people and can get protective of them. It’s just because I love them so much. Because of that, I’m really looking for my forever family to be committed to working with me and be able to provide me with continuous training. I’m a pretty smart dude if I do say so myself, so I know that if you give me the chance, I will do my best to impress you. It’s very important that I go to a home where my family is familiar with my breed, so GSD experience is required. I am a young and active dog that would also love an active family. What’s that saying.... dogs just want to have fun? I have also done great with other large dogs, so I would likely do well in a home with another dog. Yep, I think a playmate would be pretty cool! I should mention that kids can make me nervous, so I will need a home without any children. I’ve got a big personality and lots of love to give to give to my people! I could go on and on, but you’ll just have to meet me to find out more! I sure am looking forward to it! If you can give Archie an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. Hello! My name is Autumn and I am about 6 years old! I am a large, stunning GSD. My story at Saving Paws Rescue starts off in California actually, where I was brought to the shelter pregnant and stayed there for almost my entire pregnancy, can you imagine? Just in time for my babies to come, I came to Saving Paws where I was able to have my puppies in a nice, clean, and quiet environment, out of the shelter. All of my puppies are in their forever homes…so now it’s MY turn…woohoo! Now that I’m an empty-nester, I went home with a nice foster family who has lots and lots of friends for me to play with. At first I was a little nervous, but they showed me I have nothing to worry about. In fact, I’m having so much fun with them and am learning how to play! I like chasing balls, too, and chewing contently on bones and sticks. I am showing my foster family what a great girl I am! I know how to use the dog door, am completely house trained, haven’t chewed or destroyed anything in their home, play nicely with my fur siblings, and love sleeping at the feet of my humans. I enjoy affection and belly rubs, but my favorite thing to do is scour the counters for anything that might just be hanging over the edge a bit! I got caught once trying to clean up the leftovers, but my mom scolded me and now I know better. The volunteers here don’t know too much about my past or how I was treated. Sometimes I get a little scared when my people try to pet my head, but I’m learning it’s ok. I can be a little nervous around new people but am quickly learning they bring FOOD! I love FOOD and behave perfectly when I know there’s a snack waiting for me! LIttle dogs and little kids make me nervous, so I would do best in a home where I have bigger fur friends and bigger kid friends. I am ready to find my perfect match and settle down, I just want to live that good life that everyone’s talking about! I think we could live the good life together, what do ya say? If you can give Autumn an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. Have life, will share. Have ears, will listen. Have heart, will give. My name is Clive and I am 10 years old. Don't let my age fool you though, I am quite spry for an old guy. In fact, I'm an expert at the fine art of fetching. You might have a hard time keeping up with me! I was found hanging out on the streets and the fine people at Saving Paws Rescue took me in and they are working diligently to find the right home for me. I am one of those guys who will be on the edge of my seat listening to you. I appreciate honesty and harmony. I want to find an adopter who will appreciate what a fine gentleman I am. Because I am a little older, I appreciate the finer things in life such as a good bone, a nice comfortable bed, and tons of pets. The type of music I enjoy might be an acquired taste, but I lean toward the classical genre. I am open to different types of music, but rap and reggae are a deal breaker. I recently went into foster care with 4 other dogs and have been doing really well. I am definitely a pack dog and do better with multiple dogs instead of just one or two others. Meet Howie Young, male German Shepherd Medical Condition: EPI (very manageable) This fun-loving boy looks amazing compared to when he first arrived at SPR. He came in weighing just 45 pounds with his ribs showing and running a fever. After several courses of treatment and a lot of time, love and experimenting with finding the right food, Howie is on his way to a normal weight. It turns out that Howie has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) meaning his pancreas has failed to produce digestive enzymes and he can’t properly absorb nutrients. This led to his extreme weight loss and illness. However, the good news is the EPI is easily managed by adding a simple pancreatic enzyme supplement to his food. EPI dogs go on to live healthy and full lives. And, our Howie isn’t missing a beat getting started on this. This big goofball is enjoying play time with his foster sister, one of a previous SPR litter of puppies, and is thriving! He’s put on weight, is a total love bug, enjoys his food and is generally a different dog than when he first arrived. Howie does great with other dogs, but not so much with cats. So, he will need to go to a cat-free home. He could also use some training to brush up on his doggie manners. He spent so long being sick that he’s just now getting to expend that puppy energy, so a home with older children may be best. If you can give Howie an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. Hi. My name is Leah and I’m about 2-3 years old. I’m a big sweetheart, who craves attention. I love people. The folks here at Saving Paws Rescue are helping me find my forever home. They think I’ll do fine in a home with kids and with other dogs. I’m at the rescue, recovering from surgery. After the county animal control people picked me up as a stray, I was transferred to the rescue. I don’t remember what happened to me before that, but they think I may have been hit by a car. One of my back legs was broken and had not healed properly. That left me struggling to get around, because my other back leg is straight. To repair the leg that didn’t heal correctly, the doctor did an FHO procedure – in which they remove the ball of the hip. The ligament around the hip was stitched up and scar tissue is forming in the joint to prevent rubbing of bone on bone. A false joint will form, which should be pain free. It’s really not as bad as it sounds. My hip is healing. I walk just fine and they don’t think I’ll have any issues getting around. I may not ever run as fast as some dogs, but my personality makes up for it. And while I probably won’t ever be interested in going hiking or running, I would love to share your couch with you. If you think you have a place for me in your heart and on your couch, get in touch with the people at the rescue and they will arrange for us to meet. Mordecai is the name, being handsome is the game! Hey there humans, I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure that I’m just what you’ve been searching for! I already know I’m a real stunner, you don’t have to tell me twice! But if you do, I don’t mind being told in the language of treats! I am about 2 years old. One thing is for sure though, I am an extremely strong guy, yeah, I don’t play around when it comes to the gym, all day everyday. But hey, I’m a guy of simple pleasures, I love a good game of fetch or tug of war, and long walks with my favorite humans. But because I am so strong, I will require my forever family to have strong handling skills and German Shepherd Experience. Someone who will be committed to keeping up with my training would be a dream come true! I promise we will have the best of times together. Don’t believe me? Guess you’ll just have to meet me to find out! I am currently in a training program that is helping me work on my socializing skills so if you are interested in me, my trainer will be working with you as well. He has done excellent work on me and says that as long as whomever adopts me will be able to keep up with the training we will be good! He has put in a lot of hard work into this so we want to make sure that I do not end up at square one. I do have one more request which is that I be the only dog in my forever home, or what I like to be called “the king of the house”. I will admit, I can be reactive towards other dogs and new people so it’s important that my forever family is willing to work with me and help me to be the best boy that I can be! Now what do you say, wanna see how cool of a dude I am? Hey friends, Nathan here. The staff think I am about 1 years old and very goofy looking! I found myself at the rescue after I got picked up by county. I was somehow out roaming the streets when they found me. Everything at county was so scary to me so I began acting out by barking quite a bit and showing my puppy tendencies of being mouthy. What can I say? I am like an 8 week old puppy in a big boy body. I am now in a training program that is working with me to better my manners and help me become a better dog. So I guess in other words you can say that I am currently checked into rehab. I am working on basic manners such as walking on a leash, sitting, staying, and being social around other dogs. My new family will be getting me trained however you will need to keep up with my training so I do not revert back to my old habits. I am a strong guy so will need someone familiar with strong willed dogs. I could live with another big dog but a few introductions may be best before that happens. Ideally I would do best as an only dog initially then another dog can be added to the mix but I am sure we can work something out. My potential adopter will be working with my trainer before I go home to ensure that we are all on board about the home I would be most successful in. I am a very active guy so someone who loves running, hiking, camping would be great! I am not a family dog so young kids should not be in my new home. Little dogs and cats look like snacks to me so they would be best far away as possible! I am a very loving and loyal guy. Once I bond to you we will become the best of friends! My trainer is located in Gilbert so whoever is interested in me will not only have to commit to going to him but also commit to working with me even once I come home. I am not difficult but I need to know that I am not the alpha, you are. Can I trust you? Hi, My name is Paloma and I am an older gal looking for love. I was saved from the shelter and am living with my foster family and a couple of Saving Paws celebrities, Donny and Marie. Someone needs to get me out of here. If I hear one more time which is better - country or rock and roll - I'm going to lose my mind! You will need to be patient with me and earn my trust. I will tell you that I dont like leashes - they freak me out. My foster dad has built my trust and I let him put the leash on me, but you will need to work on that. Everything is new to me, so be patient and show me the love and I'll be your BFF. I would love nothing more than to hang out with you and binge watch your favorite show on Netflix, hang out by the pool, or you can read a good book to me. I would read to you, but I'm a dog. If you have other dogs, I would like to meet them. I will be happy to lick the plates before you put them in the dishwasher, sing for you, and play with you. If you can give Paloma an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/ We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. What’s up? My name is Ruxin, I am a gorgeous, energetic 6 year old German Shepherd. I love to play, go on walks, and really just do anything that can keep me busy: I’m definitely not the type to sit still for long. I’m not gonna lie, I am a pretty particular guy; I know what I like and I know what I dislike. I need a strong owner with previous experience in handling German Shepherd or other large dogs. Here’s the thing, I am a beautiful, big dog, but I also have specific behavioral traits that require an experienced handler in order for me to have the best life possible! I get very protective of my people and belongings. So I would not do well in a traditional family setting, instead I should be an only dog to a single person or couple. I am a really protective dog, and I love my family more than anything once I get comfortable, so I wouldn’t do well with other dogs, cats, or kids. This protectiveness has gotten me in trouble in the past though, so I need someone that can help train me to be better with trusting others, I don’t know if I’ll ever be the type of dog to go to big crowded places, but with some quality training and a good owner I can become more comfortable in my home and not as worried about protecting my family. I love to play, and I need mental stimulation in my life, so let’s come up with some new games in the yard, what do ya say? I am extremely ball driven and would do just about anything to be given a ball, and to play an intense round of fetch. Trust me, if you know me for more than 5 minutes I will be racing across the yard chasing after a ball; what can I say, there’s nothing better than a good treat and a ball to play with. I’m great in the car so maybe we can go on drives around town, before getting home and playing some more. Let’s learn how to run on a doggy obstacle course, I’ve always wanted to do that! So what do you think? I know that I’m a dog that needs a very specific home, but I think that you are right around the corner, don’t you?
