Rescued May 2019 at 6 weeks of age. These 2 boys are THE BEST sweethearts and TOTAL goofballs!  They seek each other and love to cuddle and groom each other as well as play wrestle. Because they are a bonded pair who have been together their entire lives, they must be adopted together. Just think.....they will double your pleasure and fun while bringing sunshine into your lives! They are energetic ei explorers and are both VERY loving.  Alonzo is funny when he sleeps, he sleeps HARD and also likes to come to a human and "say what's up" while pushing his body and sliding off to sit down (it's adorable). Total lap cat! Handsome is a 'next to you at all times' cat, but doesn't love to be held and in your hands, He will, however, keep his paw on your arm while you type on the computer and is always next to you. Excellent litter box usage. These brothers are healthy boys, social with people and animals and the "Purrfect" pets! Nothing will make them happier than to find the forever home of their dreams! Big Tom

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.  Meet the Toms!  These boys are the definition of HANDSOME boys! When they first came to ARWOB as Tijuana, Baja stray kitties one was significantly bigger than the other, hence the 'little and big' Toms. These brothers would LOVE a home together and we are really hopeful we can make that happen, especially for Little Tom who is the 'shyer' boy of the two.    Biggy is very social, a little aloof and cautious/slow to warm up when he first meets new people, but give him a day or two along with food, (He is the Flame point version of Garfield...he LOVES food) and he will become your BFF! He loves to purr loudly and keep you company, SO BIG Tom would be YOUR BFF and Little Tom would give Big Tom the feline brotherly love he needs to have a normal, healthy, forever home for any feline to enjoy along with their own species, as well. So, adopt a kitty for you and a friend for your kitty!    ANY TRUE feline experienced cat owners will likely make big strides in making friends with Little Tom as he does seem loving ie being petted. The hard part for him is being approached, but he, too, loves food and can easily make friends. SO...we know some adopters will likely make friends PRONTO with him, BUT in case their new family isn’t as experienced or lucky in helping Little Tom come around to enjoy the human companionship, at least you will receive all the loving you need from Big Tom. They  a great pair because they balance one another. so well. These kitties are great with other cats and could be fine with dogs especially smaller ones, may be cautious/guarded at first, but will eventually ignore the dogs.5/24: The Toms'  foster mom shares that both are very active, playful kittens who like being with each other as well as getting pets and hugs from their humans.   The best matched family? Someone who could keep them together, is looking for kittens for companionship without having to have the feline friends in your lap or face 24/7 since they are not very needy kittens. Not sure? The family was not able to find them a home and sought help from ARWOB in order to relinquish them to our group so we can place them in our adoption program. We know they are very friendly, outgoing, social kitties who lived in a home with cats and dogs. They are now in San Diego and could use a forever or temporary home. As of now, she is a total sweetheart with people and, of course, is a beautiful Ensenada stray who was rescued during the holidays as she would approach people begging to be fed. She was picked up by a good sam while they fed her and noticed her tail seemed to be bleeding with something around it; it turned out she had several rubber bands around her tail and also some sort of cut making her bleed, so we took her to the vet and now she has a very cute 3/4 tail! We will update her bio as we learn more about her and for now would love to find a foster family for this beautiful kitty! To submit an application to adopt please visit us online at arwo.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. Cocoa-Bean

He enjoys his daily routine of napping inside, napping outside in the sunshine, walks through the park, belly rubs and learning manners for jerky treats. He's fairly quiet and keeps to himself, but greatly appreciates snuggles & pets! Beans would do well in a relaxed environment with a family who will be gentle and shower him with all the pets he deserves! Some other things we've learned about him: picky eater (loves FreshPet food though), loves walks, doesn't shed, needs to wear a harness as he can slip out of a collar, not a fan of big dogs on walks, not into toys or bones, sleeps great in a crate, and loves being outside.” Cocoa Bean was rescued by a good sam in January of 2019 when he noticed a little wet dog with very matted coat limping and dragging his left hind leg. He stopped the car, picked him up, and took him to the nearest veterinary clinic. Xrays showed a fractured hind leg and the good sam took him to a vet for surgery and medical care. Fast forward a year and he requested help with his adoption since he was not able to find a home himself in Mexico for fear Cocoa Bean would end up in a home that would again allow him to roam the streets of Ensenada. He contacted ARWOB for help and Cocoa Bean is new to the group. Cocoa is healthy and will have a slight limp on his back leg as they had placed a metal plate in his leg to fix the fracture. He can still run around and walk, but he will not be a great exercise partner as he shouldn't be a hiking or running partner; he will be happy to walk neighborhoods and run around a yard or patio with his friends. He is fantastic with children, dogs and cats.  He can be adopted or fostered to adopt. In either case, an adoption application should be submitted and he will need a foster as soon as 4/29. Sadly one of the manx female kittens was too sick to make it to adoption, but her two sisters have been very healthy, happy and, like their foster mom mentions, they are very social, loving and always want to be part of the family. Oreo has a manx tail just like mom and Brownie is a normal tail kitty.Ideally, both sisters would be adopted together. Cookie is an adorable Manx, dilute tortie with no nub for a tail, so its like having a french bulldog around :)Cookie is very people friendly, could care less about other cats for the most part... adults or kittens. She is not very playful yet as she loves to lounge and walk around the house checking things out, but hasn't got the hang of toys just yet. She loves her scratching post. Ideally, she needs a foster or adopter who will be able to start her off slowly in a bathroom/bedroom for the first couple of weeks in a new home since she was a stray cat. A couple times she has peed inapproprietly (or at least we think she has - we don't know who the culprit was, but we think it was Cookie who peed in a carton box and a little area of dirt that was on the floor, sooooo she may have thought 'this is where i am supposed to go'. Just in case, we want her to be treated as a kitten supervised when home and placed in a control enviornment when not being supervised or alone to make sure the litter box habit is WELL learned) She always goes #2 in the box that we know of .... so again possibly 2 accidents in the 3 weeks she has been in foster since rescue. The kittens are now 2 months/2 pounds of age, but, sadly, it's a bit difficult to get spay/neuter appointments because of COVID guidelines with veterinary hospitals. Although these kittos are available for adoption NOW we will give priority to families who live in San Diego so they can foster to adopt the family meaning, they can go home with their forever family who will be requested to drive the kitten(s) to their scheduled surgery appointment, at which time their adoption can be finalized. This way, the foster mom can receive a much needed break. The kittens are very well socialized and, like all babies, are great with all humans, dogs, and cats.Ideal adopters will have another cat at home or adopt the pair to keep each other company for the next 15yrs of their lives. Please submit a cat adoption application online at arwob.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. She is very affectionate and will rub her head against your leg when she wants food or just to say hello. She doesn't like to be held but will be happy doing her own thing next to you. She loves to cuddle up against soft towels and pillows. Cutie also loves to chase after her toy mice as well..” Meet Cutie! Cutie was rescued from the streets of Tijuana on 4/15 and is in need of a foster family at this time since she is pretty small and in observation. She is a small girl at 4 pounds, really gentle, quiet, with an old soul personality. She needs a foster who can take her to vet appointments in the UTC area for her rechecks for anorexia and lethargic issues. So, we are looking for someone who can love on her while also being observant so she can be out of a cage setting, but also we can keep track of her progress. Because she is a brand new rescue from the streets she is using the litter box well, but ideally will be fostered in a home who can keep her secluded to a dog kennel or bathroom for the most part with times through the day where she can move around the home if she would like to explore or cuddle with her foster family. Update 4/9/20 from Ellen’s foster family:
“Ellen is a sweet, energetic, and loving puppy. She initially is shy, but with patience and a confident handler she opens up and lets her personality shine. She loves to play with other dogs (she is a puppy though so still learning play etiquette), loves toys, and is learning fetch. She is great with our toddler, but like any puppy she is working on her jumping and pawing. She is very treat motivated, is great on a leash, and learning basic commands. She would benefit from ongoing training. No accidents in the house (we don’t have a dog door either), and does well in her crate overnight. She has entirely ignored our cats.” These 2 sisters were born 11/2/2019 in a home who owns their mother, who was intact and, aplparently, had an accidental pregnancy. There is no info on who the dad was, but mom is a 20-25lb terrier mix who looks like the girls. ARWOB sterilized mom and the owners will keep her home. These girls are currently fostered in Tijuana and will be looking for a foster in San Diego as soon as they receive their second vaccination the first week of February and will be adoptable the second week of February once spayed.  They are fostered in a home with cats, dogs, and little kids who come and go to visit for short periods. One of the girls is more active and the other girl a little shy and takes a bit longer to trust new strangers.  We believe the girls will grow to be in the 20-35 lbs range when full grown. He is an enthusiastic learner, extremely smart and athletic so we have been working daily on indoor games and training while social distancing. He plays very well with dogs and loves a good chase. Lots of exercise and mental stimulation have been helpful in decreasing his anxiety behaviors. He is friendly with my cat, it took about a week for Emilio's curiosity & playfulness to be at an acceptable level for the cat. Emilio's Strengths: Learns quickly and responds to positive reinforcement. Utilizing absoluteDOGS games during quarantine to bond and train. Very friendly and playful with all the dogs when off-leash He will fetch and bring back his toys to you. Wants you to play! Responds to his name and comes when called, inside and outside Amazing stamina. Would be a good dog to run with and take on long hikes (note current leash aggression below). Emilio's Obstacles: Leash aggression/anxiety towards other dogs is high, resorts to nipping while in high-level state. Using "Leave It" command and high value treats to modify behavior. Seems to respond negatively especially with men running by on street.  High anxiety when left alone, resorts to barking (does eventually stop) Does not like being crated. Utilizing treats to mark as a "safe zone" Does not respond to neck collar, seems to increase aggression while leashed; better behaved on harness when leashed. Emilio is a Baja blend rescued from the streets of Tijuana. He looks like a lab with a shep gene and some terrier or beagle look. He also has a blue tongue, so, your guess is as good as ours! UDPATE 12/29/19:  Emilio is TRULY an amazing dog: funny, loving, SMART (we have many videos to upload coming soon to see dog, cat, kid, and outings interactions).  His potential reaction to nipping is minimal if EVER and very well managed with a mindful and observant handler. He has done amazing at the past two adoption events. HOWEVER, he will need an adopter who takes training seriously to "nip this in the butt" sort of way.  UPDATE 12/20/19: Emilio is a VERY sweet and loving dog, HOWEVER, he can TRY TO NIP people when he is on a leash and they are walking by him or close to him or approaching him. ONLY SOMETIMES. BE MINDFUL WHEN AROUND HIM IF YOU HAVE NOT MET HIM.  Emilio is what we call a “project dog,” which means we are looking for a FOSTER home who can work with a trainer BEFORE we can adopt him, so the family is comfortable before finalizing his adoption. ARWOB can help sponsor the training and we can talk to serious inquirers. He is great with cats and great with MOST dogs. He loves to play with friends of all breeds/sizes. He has met children at events and loves them, BUT would likely be best in a home with NO KIDS unless the family feels comfortable with his "meeting new people outings.” He is house, potty and crate trained. He is energetic, SMART and somewhat stubborn. He really would be a FANTASTIC partner/companion, but we need an observant handler. As of 11/5/19 Emilio has been with ARWOB for 7 months since April 2019, however he has been in San Diego since May 2019. He was first boarded at a vet clinic type setting for the month of May, where he interacted with multiple people, including women, men, and several of the arwob dogs. Aside from barking from being kennel stressed towards the end of his stay (finishing quarantine, medical and lack of foster home), he has been a great dog. In June, he started being fostered by our founder, along with several other arwob dogs and cats. Emilio was with her for a couple of months, crate trained and learning the ropes of the home, as well as playing with all the other foster dogs. He was a teen with high energy, a fantastic little foster, but he needed a one on one foster to make sure he started to learn basic training. This could only be accomplished by a foster one on one, especially since he is a teen. As we all know some teens try to push boundaries, so we wanted to make sure Emilio didn't become a behavioral case with no leash training and socialization with the world.  We found a foster family (Mom, dad and senior high school student who is now in college). The family has a yard and occasionally have other Arwob dogs from a senior to pups. They also have a cat. A couple of weeks after being transferred into the foster family, he was adopted and within 3 days we received notes from the adopter. They experienced behavioral issues with him from trying to nip people while walking him, to barking none stop in his crate. The home setting was a new adopter with no dog experience in a downtown apartment. Although we think that could have been too many variables which could have allowed this behavior, it would be the first time this would have 'made' a dog behave like that. We don't believe that was the main reason for his acting out. After a week, they sought help from a dog trainer and, after assessment, it was decided for him to come back to the group. We have had him back since August 2019 and probably about a week after he came back to the group, we noticed the issues described on leash, mostly potential nipping at certain people who walked by him while he is on leash, mostly men, but on rare occasions.  We had him assessed by a dog behaviorist in San Diego; he mentioned he is a very smart dog, energetic, but also scared and Emilio's uncomfortable feelings provokes his reaction. His foster family has multiple people come and go from the home and sometimes the introduction to new people at first has to be slow, but many times is normal. What we believe the leash reactivity or the feeling of restraint makes him have this response. He can do it to dogs and people, rarely, but on occasion.  Emilio is a fantastic dog, loving, good with the dogs and cats. He has met multiple kids and does great with them. The men and women he has in his life he loves, many strangers he meets he loves being petted. BUT there are those occasions where he reacts and, because of that uncertainty, we need to consider him a behavior case aka a “project dog.” We are looking for an adopter who is willing and interested in taking it slow with him. We are talking several months of getting to build a relationship, getting to know his triggers, and learning to correct it and most of all prevent it. When walking him, the adopter needs to be able to observe for his cues when he will react. His foster mom has been working with him, but he still has a ways to go.  If you'd like to meet Emilio on your own to determine if he would be a good pup for you or not, please email us at animalrescuers@sbcglobal.net We are seeking a foster for him to work with him one on one; specifically focusing on walks and outings, as his current foster family takes him on occasional trips and walks but not able to spend and dedicate that much time for his training. They can offer him a home to be in versus staying in a boarding kennel, but he needs that one person/persons who can help him learn, experience the world, and correct him or prevent his issues.  Ideally he will need a home with a yard to run around in, but mostly because we don't want to over expose him to a condo/apartment living where the interaction with people and other dogs being walked could be over stimulating him for his beginning stages of training. We have many videos we will up load, some also with the behaviorist.  Do you want to help Emilio have an opportunity at life and not becoming a 'unadoptable' statistic?
