About LUNA

Luna is a 12yr old Bull Mastif mix with we don't what with. She was cruelly dumped at kill shelter in her golden years.  She was on the euthanasia list and just seemed to accept her fate, she was broken.…. until we stepped in.  She’s been with a wonderful foster who is helping her to trust again, but it’s taken awhile.  She loves to nap and go for walks.  She’s good on leash, as long as she wants to go.  She is best in a home with no other dogs, cats or children under 13yrs old.  She needs a patient person with a big heart to help her believe again that people can be good. This pretty girl deserves to live out the rest of her years in a loving forever home.  Please contact nypeticare@al.com

Hi.  My name is Troy.  I am a handsome 6-yr-old Akita mix. If I look intimidating to you, I’m really just a gentle giant….once I know you’re not going to hurt me.  My history with humans hasn’t been very good.  I spent the first 5 yrs of my life living outside on concrete.  My “owners” did not provide me with the human interaction I craved or allow me the chance to socialize with other dogs.  When neighbors started complaining about me being outside crying in the frigid temperatures, my owner sent me to the highest kill shelter in NY.  Thankfully I was rescued and have spent the last year living with the greatest foster dad ever.  He has provided me with the love and structure I desperately needed and deserved. Thanks to him, I am now crate trained, housebroken, walk well on a leash. I am very food motivated.  I won’t lie….I can become possessive of my food, but I’m working on it and don’t mind eating breakfast and dinner and my crate.  Although I have never shown any signs of aggression, I do take time to warm up to people since I was never properly socialized.  For that reason, it’s best if I’m the only dog in the house.  I love to cuddle in bed and will roll over for belly rubs once I know you’re not there to use, abuse or neglect me.  Please contact nypeticare@aol.com show less
