About Elvis

Elvis - the Super Senior is a very active, curious, and social cat that wants pets and your love. Elvis is a total ham with some very unique markings. He even wears pants around the house.  Despite his age, he is very active - he holds the current record in our house for stair climbing. He is exceptionally social and wants to always be part of the action - no running and hiding from this guy. He loves to wander around and investigate; we suspect he's a good hunter too. But more than exploring, he likes to hang with people. He is super affectionate and really enjoys (okay...sometimes he demands) pets, and a lap to sit on. His loud purrs and sweet nuzzles are the best! He will do best as an only pet, and in an adult house. He can get a bit frightened by loud or sudden movements so someone with a calm demeanor and cat experience would be ideal. He does a little bit of over-grooming, but he came to PAWS with mattes and bald spots (all of which have cleared up), but his coat could use some continual care. Luckily he enjoys being brushed so this isn't difficult at all. Finally, he has the sweetest meow you've ever heard (he should really be doing cat voice-overs). This big guy still has LOTS of love to give (and a few more pounds to pack on). Age: 13 years How I came to PAWS: A03575483 Animal ID#: found stray I am not at the shelter.  We are a wonderful snuggly bonded pair! Aspen is a most handsome and dignified fluffy boy. He is a talkative kitty and loves to sit with his humans and requests rubs in exchange for nice loud purrs. After just two days in foster care, he started to sleep in bed with his foster mama. When he is not chasing feather toys, you can find him sprawled out on his back, belly fluff up, in the sunshine, or lounging on a windowsill. This fluffer has a lot of energy but is the sweetest boy. He loves to be brushed except on his tummy where he is a bit sensitive. Jinx is a beautiful independent big girl who loves pets and butt scratches. When she isn’t requesting your attention you can find her curled up on something soft. She really loves her cat bed! She sometimes likes to play, but she is mostly a very snuggly kitty who does not meow, but squeaks for attention. Aspen and Jinx are a bonded pair and they would love to find a home that will give them lots of snuggles and plenty of exercise. They are both well adjusted to living with other family pets (cats and dogs), would likely do well with children, and their previous owner reports that they are leash trained!  Age: 2 to 4 years How I came to PAWS: Owner surrender Animal ID#: AA40700572 (Aspen) and A40720166 (Jinx) We are not at the shelter.  Friendly Bernard is a handsome boy looking for the perfect cuddle companion! Bernard looks like a tough guy but is the biggest softy around. This handsome boy loves head rubs, belly rubs, back rubs and really any kind of rub. A true homebody, Bernard is dedicated to cuddling during television, chirps for a little petting and loves to sleep next to you – the perfect house guest. Bernard has had some ear issues that will need attention, he receives daily drops and may need follow up appointments to monitor his progress. He would do best in an adult home to live the quiet life of sleeping in the sunshine stretched out with his white fluffy belly in the air.  Bernard has tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), which causes a weakened immune system.  FeLV  cats have shorter lifespans than other kitties, but don't  require medication or daily treatment. With a caring home and attentive person who can catch any early signs of illness, FeLV cats will live perfectly normal, happy lives. Only cats can catch  FeLV , so they are able to live with other species (or other cats who are  FeLV  positive).  Staff will be happy to tell you more about FeLV if you have any questions at all!  Spunky and cuddly boy looking for his forever home. This little dude is a great combo of playful and sweet. He is energetic and sassy, but still finds time to be cute and cuddly. His favorite things to do are sunbathing on the windowsill and playing with his toys- he also enjoys joining my conference calls! He's an entertaining coworker. While he's quite good at entertaining himself, he really comes to life when he has someone to play and interact with (he actually knows how to fetch!) He's an outgoing little guy who is always curious and down to explore. He is FIV+, but all that means is that he needs some extra love! He is still a happy, loving, go-lucky guy ready for his forever home. He's happiest when his people are around, and would thrive in a home with adults and/or teens.  Hi there! My name is Cashew! I'm so excited to find my forever home! Hi there! My name is Cashew! My foster mom said that's my name because I'm a nut. I'm just a kitten so I'm not sure what that means but I think it means I'm the best and most beautiful little boy in the world? Investigations into the matter are still pending. I'm a super energetic kitten and I LOVE to play! My favorite toys are cat teasers but I'm really up to play with anything I can find. I also like sitting on people's shoulders and discovering new ways to escape my playpen! If you want the most entertaining kitten in the world, let my foster mom know! I love other kittens and I definitely need a friend to help me get some of my energy out. I can be adopted alongside another PAWS kitten or I can get to know your cat!  Cookies is a friendly orange tabby looking for a forever home. He was found as a stray living in University City, so he is well educated.  Cookies is super friendly and follows me around. He always wants head scratches! When he was found he was in pretty bad shape. He was diagnosed with FIV, but also had bad respiratory infection which required antibiotics and isolation. Since he has been in foster care, he has continued his treatment and is starting to recover. He's even starting to play with string toys. He hasn't let his illness hold him down! He would probably prefer to be your one and only cat, but he's got so much personality, he's all the cat you'll ever need.  Cookies has tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), which means his immune system is less developed, but doesn't require special treatment or affect his chances to live a full and happy life.  Sink obsessed quiet gentleman looking for a peaceful home. Dante is a sweet, gentle guy that just wants a warm patch of sun and a quiet house to call his own. He is fond of laps and likes to perch on high places to observe his domain. Sometimes he'll come running when we go into the bathroom because we've spoiled him with letting him drink from the sink--how could you resist? His voice is very deep and low, sounding like a 'quack'. Dante has some GI issues that can cause diarrhea and a decreased appetite. He is currently on daily medication to help with his symptoms and will likely need some further diagnostics in the future. He is looking for a person who is comfortable administering daily medication and adhering to a special diet.   Gilligan is steering his way straight to your heart! With his goofy grin and gregarious personality, it's hard to believe Gilligan was found on the city streets. He's an older guy that's bouncy and playful, full of energy and enthusiasm. Gilligan enjoys morning jogs and outdoor adventures, but also knows how to settle down for relaxed couch time at the end of a fun day. Gilligan will be a great fit for a dog-experienced household that enjoys staying active and having fun as much as he does!  Gorgeous young momma cat and six fun-loving mini panthers!    Inky  (A43969178) Teen mom Inky was surrendered to the shelter with her six tiny babies the day after she gave birth. Luckily she made herself comfortable in her foster home, giving her adorable mini-mes lots of love and care to grow up just as sweet and loving as she is. Inky loves to have her ears scratched and will head butt you for attention! She enjoys catnip toys and lounging next to her people. She would do best in a home where she is the only cat (unless you want to pair her with one of her kittens) but she promises to be a fantastic companion for you! Age: 1 year How I came to PAWS: owner surrender   Pepper A#43969138 Pepper is a sweet boy, who’s looking for a lap to sit in!  Pepper might be the smallest of his litter, but he has the loudest purr (and the biggest appetite)! He will crawl into your lap and lift his chin so he can have his chin scratched – and it’s really hard to say “no” to such a sweet little guy! Pepper was brought to the shelter with his mother and his 5 siblings the day after he was born, but now he’s ready for his forever home!   Pepper has suspected Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) or “wobbly cat syndrome.”  Cats are born with this condition, and it will affect him for life without getting worse or better. CH occurs in-utero when the part of a cat's brain that controls motion isn't fully developed by the time they are born. Some cats have very light forms of CH, while others will be extra wobbly! Pepper is on the very wobbly end– which means that he can only walk a few steps and can’t climb up on furniture.  To keep him safe, Pepper would do best in an environment without access to stairs and with carpets (so he doesn’t slip on the floor). Despite his limitations, Pepper loves to play with his siblings (and watching him try to “pounce” is hysterical) and can eat and navigate to the litter box just fine (though a box with higher sides would be best so he can have something to steady himself with). Pepper would be content with a family (adults only or with older respectful children) that's around a lot to give him attention, but who can be very mindful of his condition and help him out should he get stuck somewhere.  He has a great personality and doesn’t seem to realize there is anything “wrong” with him – and is looking for a home where he can live life to the fullest!   Coal A#43969129 Coal is a house panther in training – and always follows the #1 rule of being a cat (“If I fits, I sits”).  Coal loves to hang out in cardboard boxes – I’m sure he’d love any toys you’d buy him, the Amazon box they came in would be just as interesting to Coal!  Coal has grown up big and strong with his 5 siblings and now is ready to join your family (if you have a cardboard box for him, that is)! Coal has suspected Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) or “wobbly cat syndrome.”  Cats are born with this condition, and it will affect him for life without getting worse or better. CH occurs in-utero when the part of a cat's brain that controls motion isn't fully developed by the time they are born. Some cats have very light forms of CH, while others will be extra wobbly! Coal is very wobbly – which means he doesn’t walk well and more often crawls (or throws himself across) the floor and can’t climb up on furniture.  To keep him safe, Coal would do best in an environment without access to stairs and with carpets (so he doesn’t slip on the floor).  Perhaps that’s why he loves boxes so much, because they offer him a secure place to sit. Although Coal is very affected by his CH, he doesn’t let that stop him – he is super playful and likes toy mice and balls (or attacking his own tail) but he is also content to sit with quietly with you.  He knows he’s a handsome boy and is waiting for the family that will spoil him as he deserves! Coal would be content with a family (adults only or with older respectful children) that's around a lot to give him attention, but who can be very mindful of his condition and help him out should he get stuck somewhere.  He has a great personality and doesn’t seem to realize there is anything “wrong” with him – and is looking for a home where he can live life to the fullest!   Blackjack A#43969131 Take a gamble on Blackjack, you can’t lose! Blackjack is the tiny princess of her litter – she knows her fluffy black fur and yellow eyes are adorable and loves to just come sit on your lap so you can tell her how pretty he is.  She can be feisty when she wants to (she is still a kitten after all), but would usually rather spend time with her people than playing with toys and she’ll wait patiently for her turn if you are playing with/petting one of her siblings.  She came to PAWS the day after she was born with her mother and 5 siblings and now is spayed and ready for her forever home!   Onyx A#43969140 Onyx is the adventurous explorer of her litter – and she’s ready to see the world (or at least, her new home)!  Onyx has silky black fur and orange-yellow eyes which are always watching to see what’s happening.  She loves to stalk her toy mice (and will carry them around in her mouth) and is the first to run to the door of the foster room or to look out the window – she knows there’s a whole other world out there waiting for her!  After a full day of romping around and playing, Onyx is happy to cuddle against your legs and sleep.  She came to PAWS the day after she was born with her mother and 5 siblings and now is spayed and ready for her forever home!   Jet A#43969124 Jet is a cuddlebug who can’t wait for a new family to give him the attention he deserves! Jet is always happy to see his people and be snuggled – and while he will race away to play with his toys, he always comes back for more cuddles.  He came to PAWS the day after she was born with his mother and 5 siblings and was the tiniest in the litter, but now is turning into a handsome cat!  He is quick to climb into your lap to be pet and will reward you with lots of loud purrs.   Crow A#43969129 Crow is an independent boy who loves to run and play!  He’s the largest of his litter (he came to PAWS with his mother and 5 siblings the day after he was born) and a true “house panther” in training – he has beautiful sleek black fur and gorgeous yellow eyes.  While he will tolerate being held and snuggled for a moment or two, he’d much rather be playing with his toys! Crow has suspected Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) or “wobbly cat syndrome.”  Cats are born with this condition, and it will affect him for life without getting worse or better. CH occurs in-utero when the part of a cat's brain that controls motion isn't fully developed by the time they are born. Some cats have very light forms of CH, while others will be extra wobbly! Crow is only mildly affected – you probably wouldn’t notice at all, he runs and jumps like any normal kitten, he’s just a little clumsy occasionally! These cats are not at the shelter.  Kit-Kat is a feisty girl that was sadly abandoned by her previous owner before being brought back to PAWS. She is 5 years old, but has just as much energy as a kitten! She loves chasing balls, toy mice, feathers, and anything that catches her eye, including phone chargers so be careful! Kit-Kat loves to cuddle, get head scratches, and even curl up under the blankets in bed with you! Kit-Kat also absolutely loves cat-nip and having plenty of boxes and bags to hide in. She does get moody, so if her tail starts twitching, watch out: her tough side may be coming out. Kit-Kat does just fine on her own if she has plenty of toys to play with, but is always happy to see you when you get home from being out! Kit-Kat loves her alone time, so if you are able to set-up a spot in your home just for her like a cat tree or enclosed cat-house she would love that! Kit-Kat would do best in a quieter home with no children and as the only pet, and with someone who has experience with super energetic cats. Kit-Kat does need sensitive stomach food, and a special food bowl that prevents her from eating too fast. Bring home this sweet girl today!
