About Pippie

Personality: Pippie is a mellow old gal who loves to follow her people around and be with them. She is great with all people, and was especially attached to her foster dad and the youngest son in her foster home. She's housetrained, rides well in the car, and knows a few commands. History: Pippie came to us from a shelter in the Central Valley. Dog skills: Pippie enjoys being in the company of other mellow dogs. In her foster home, she did well with the large resident dog. She is currently co-housed with a small dog and gets along well with him. She can sometimes get grumpy with younger, more playful dogs. Cat skills: We do not have a history of Pippie with cats. Leash skills: Pippie walks well on the leash. Medical: Pippie appears to be hearing impaired. She does not need any treatment for this, but should not be allowed off leash in an unenclosed area. Pippie has a heart murmur. She has no clinical signs or symptoms of heart disease at this time, and no treatment is recommended for this condition. Her future veterinarian should monitor the heart murmur for any progression. Pippie has a condition which causes dry eye in her left eye. We believe Pippie had this condition for a long time before coming to us, which caused pigment to build up on the surface of her eye and will likely always be present and cause some degree of vision impairment in that eye. She will need eye medications several times daily to keep the eye moist and free of infection. Pippie had most of her teeth removed after they were deemed unhealthy. She should have ongoing regular dental care to keep her remaining teeth and her gums healthy. Ready to meet Pippie? Personality: Sweet, clumsy, goofy Ariel is a puppy in a big dog body - but with better manners. She's super smart, and thanks to the help of her foster family, is well-trained - she knows sit, shake, down, and stay! Ariel is crate-trained, and has been successfully staying in her crate with a chew toy while her foster parents go to work. She's also learned that when the alarm goes off in the morning, it's time for her walk. Ariel's first favorite thing is playing tug, and her second favorite thing is meeting new people and then cuddling on the couch with them. Ariel is housetrained, eager to learn, and the perfect mix of energy levels. History: Ariel came to us from another shelter. She was stressed in our shelter, so she has been spending time in foster homes to help her thrive.Dog Skills: Ariel has been in a foster home where she has had positive on-leash interactions with other polite dogs, when out on walks. She is conflicted and intolerant with both insecure and rowdy dogs, so we recommend she continue to have slow/controlled introductions, and be the only dog living in the household.Cat Skills: We do not have a history of Ariel living with cats, but her fosters have noted that she will try to chase them while out on walks. Leash Skills: Ariel is very strong, and will need guidance to help redirect her away from dogs while on walks. She can sometimes become tentative with lots of environmental noises or activity, and focuses really well on her handler when positive reinforcement is used to help encourage her to be brave.Medical: Ariel has a few medical issues, and some will need ongoing care. She has a partial ligament injury in her right knee, which has resolved, but she may develop arthritis in this knee in the future. The long bones in Ariel's knees are prone to inflammation, and it can be painful for her to walk. Most recently, it caused lameness in her front right leg, which is now resolving with exercise restrictions, pain management, and time.Ariel also suffered from allergies in and around her ears when she arrived. We treated her with medication and a bland diet, and her allergies have resolved! If her allergies come back, her new family may need to treat them in a similar way, and we can provide more information about this!Ready to meet Ariel? Fill out the form to learn more! Personality: Bobo is a sweet little guy who quickly attaches to one special person and shows them total devotion. When he's around the people he trusts, Bobo gains confidence and is willing to approach new people. He loves to snuggle, but also has a playful side. He plays fetch, enjoys squeaky toys, and will even entertain himself with his toys. His front limbs are deformed, but he still finds a way to romp around on soft surfaces. Bobo is housetrained and has good house manners. History: Bobo came to us from a shelter in the Central Valley. Dog skills: Bobo is social with other dogs and enjoys attending daily playgroups. He is currently co-housed with another calm, social dog. Cat skills: We do not have a history of Bobo with cats. Leash skills: Bobo is making progress on learning to walk on leash. Because of his limb deformity, he isn't able to walk very far or fast. Bobo is more confident walking on leash with a canine friend by his side. Medical: Bobo was born with deformed front legs, and doesn't walk normally. In the future, he would benefit from being fitted for a wheelchair. Until he has a wheelchair, Bobo should be kept on soft surfaces to prevent pressure sores on his front legs.Ready to meet Bobo?
