About Koshka

Meet Koshka, an adventurous little scamp who lives to play! When not sound asleep, Koshka is a constant source of laughter, chasing his toys around, trilling and chirping, and exploring anything new! It's all fun and games for Koshka, and an ideal home for him would have lots of little nooks and crannies to explore, some windows where he can keep an eye on nature, and a hallway he can chase his toys down. He loves to include any and all people in his playtime. This means he loves strangers, especially if they provide him with a round of classics like “sprint after the plastic spring,” “pounce on the piece of yarn,” or “kick the stuffed animal”. In general, he is happiest when he’s with people. When playing, he is pure comedy, doing somersaults, flying leaps and making triumphant chirps whenever he catches his quarry. Koshka can join a home with adults or older teens, as he can sometimes confuse where the toy ends and your hand begins. He would especially be a good cat for a night owl, as it's in the evening that he really gets his energy. While I haven’t had a chance to judge his reaction to other cats, he was rescued from a cat colony, meaning he would likely do well in a home with other kitties, especially if they can match his energy level and drive to play! Come and meet him today, he would love to find a partner in crime! Age: 3 years How I came to PAWS: Stray from Project Meow Animal ID#: A 44106522 I am not at the shelter.  Don't Blink on young Amelia Pond or you might miss your chance to take her home! This adorable traveler was part of a trio of kittens found alone in South Philly before getting rescued and split up into different homes due to their ringworm treatment. Unfortunately Amelia found herself back at the shelter to continue that care, and while she is still a little unsure and shy at first, you can see the playful confidence and potential cuddliness just waiting to come out. As soon as Amelia knows you're a friend, she's ecstatic to receive ear scratches and petting, and will start purring up a storm as soon as you give her attention. Unlike the TARDIS, our cat kennels aren't bigger on the inside, so Amelia is eager to go home and start her adventures with you! This pet is currently being treated for ringworm, a mild fungal infection of the skin that usually clears up within 6-8 weeks of starting treatment. All the follow-up care we provide for your ringworm pet is free of charge while they finish their treatment with you, and we are with you every step of the way! You can learn more about adopting a pet with ringworm here.  These adorable teen kittens will brighten up your life!  Artie (domed head & darker coat) and Gilbert (lighter coat) are both very curious and love exploring and will quickly make themselves at home. They love playing with each other and, of course, with people --especially when there are lasers, feather wands, or robotic mice involved. And while they do have a typical case of kitten zoomies, they also love to curl up and take daily nappies and window gaze. They are huge fans of head and neck scratches. And they have no problem reciprocating their affection for you with the cutest meows and trills --you will find no shortage of daily purring or slow blinks from them. This lively pair would do best in a home where goofy and energetic cats are loved, and a pet parent can spend time playing with them and giving them affection. They have no problem with children, especially ones who would love to play with them!  A Cuddly Girl Who Just Wants a Comfy Place to Snuggle! Maman Belle currently splits her time doting on her 4 bébés and snuggling with her foster mom. Now, it's time for her to just focus on finding and loving her new human! Belle loves nothing more than to be held. She will beg for you to pick her up by standing on her hind legs and 'clapping' her paws together! If you don't do it quickly enough, she will jump on your lap or the closest table to get closer to you. She likes to follow you from room to room and watch you with her inquisitive eyes. These bright eyes give her a started look, but her foster mom says it's just her observant and curious nature. She's always happy to be scooped up and pet. She might even headbutt you to show her appreciation! She has a very healthy appetite and will let you know if her food bowl is empty. Even if it is full, it's helpful to watch your dinner around her, as she likes to share! Maman Belle only has a portion of her tail due to a past accident. Because of this, she will need a little extra patience and care when it comes to her litter box behaviors. Sometimes, she needs to be cleaned up a bit after using the bathroom. Her foster mom or adoption staff can chat with you more about what's going on! If you're looking for a cuddly girl with a calm demeanor, Bell might just be the one for you!  How can’t you love Cookies and Cream? Cookie [Monster] is a big boy but a gentle giant. While definitely a cuddly little kitten, he’s 5.5 lbs and much larger than his 4.0 lb favorite sister, Creamie, and sure to grow much bigger. He’s fast and playful, and loves to eat and sit in laps and windows. His soft blue hued fur and muscular features fit the description of a chartreux, in stunning contrast with his Siamese looking sister. Cookie loves playing with hands, licking, gnawing on, and handling fingers, but never bites or claws or hisses. Like Creamie, he isn’t shy and loves to be near humans, happy to sprawl out at your feet or on your desk while you work, or to watch TV with you or sleep next to you. He’s always curious about what you’re doing and wants to be involved if it looks interesting. Creamie is the only girl in her band of brothers, and has no problem hanging with the boys and doing what they do. Their litter of 4 found their foster parents in a South Philly alley where they were growing up, and Creamie was the first to fearlessly and cheerfully approach asking to be taken home. She is a purring machine, loves belly rubs, and typically the first to run towards the sound of a human to get a few seconds of solo attention before she has to share it with her brothers. She’s friendly and demure and never demanding but always receptive to loving. And when humans don’t time for her, she always has Cookie! Take them home together forever! She loves all cat toys I have given her but she goes crazy for strings (the ones on your hoodie included), ping-pong balls, toy fish, and laser pointers. Gary also know how to fetch!!  Great Grandma Nikki is the angel you've been waiting for! Meet Great Grandma Nikki. She is a sweetheart of a senior lady who came to PAWS after her owner passed away. Great Grandma loves to yell for you to hurry up and feed her or pet her but it's the sweetest old lady meow ever! She would be a great companion for someone who is looking for a cat who just likes to be lazy and sleep most of the day. She is not a super cuddler but will absolutely come to you for head and chin scratches often! Grandma is super easy to care for and her only special requirement is a special food to keep her kidneys healthy. Otherwise, she is a perfect angel! Great Grandma Nikki would enjoy a quiet home without small children who might overwhelm her. She is okay with respectful cats who mostly leave her alone and she has not been tested with dogs. Adopt this special girl today! You won't regret it! Age: 10+ years How I came to PAWS: owner passed away Animal ID#: PHLP-A-43962 I am not at the shelter.  King Lear is a smart, handsome companion who loves to play! King Lear loves to investigate everything new around him. You will never be bored with King Lear at home, and he is always an affectionate, friendly face to come home to. He loves to give cat massages to soft blankets or your leg before settling down for a cozy nap, as well as hanging out by any window with a good view. King Lear will thrive in a lively home with a family that will enjoy snuggling with him and consistently provide quality play time. He would be a wonderful companion for someone who loves a good game, but also has the patience to help him understand the difference between his toys and furniture. He may enjoy having other cat companions around to help him burning some energy playing tag. King Lear  has tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), which means his immune system is less developed, but doesn't require special treatment or affect his chances to live a full and happy life. Staff will be happy to tell you more about FIV if you have any questions at all, or you can learn more info here!:  https://phillypaws.org/wp-content/uploads/PAWS_FIV_FAQ.pdf   Although King Lear is FIV+, he is currently in great health, and will just need a bit of dental care to continue to thrive. Come and meet this fluffy ball of fun today; King Lear is sure to bring a smile to your face! Age: 6 years How I came to PAWS: Found stray Animal ID#: A43813 I am not at the shelter.
