About Luke and Leia

DOB: 1/1/11 Luke is a rather special boy. Named after that famous Star Wars hero, he’s a very spry 10 year old who was adopted as a kitten along with his sister Leia.  A new member of his human family had a very severe immune response to the dynamic duo, which is why they are in a foster home now in search of a loving forever home where they can remain together. Luke is incredibly affectionate and loves to get in as much lap time as you’ll offer. He’s a big fan of lying in the sun, and likes to play with cloth mice (ones with catnip are his favorite!) He believes in daily post meal siestas and frequently naps in a comfy spot of his choosing, either in a cat bed or on a corner of the sofa. When he stretches, his tail curls up like a monkey. So adorable! An intrepid explorer, Luke can’t resist checking out new things, whether it’s a cool new box that was delivered or seeing what’s coming out of those grocery bags or getting to check out a closet. He’s an indoor kitty, but loves to look out the window or the front door to see what’s happening outside. He’s fascinated by birds.  Master Luke has a healthy appetite and seems to tap into his inner Labrador whenever food comes his way. He tries to beat his own speed eating record at every meal. And, to let you in on a little secret, he can be a bit of an opportunist when it comes to meat. He’s not shy about telling you how much he’d love to taste whatever you’re having, but if you let him know it’s not for him, he’ll eventually give up and watch...just in case you change your mind. Luke will greet you every morning with a verbal hello and then will quickly show you the way to the kitchen, just in case you forgot.  Luke can be a bit shy around strangers at first, but once he determines that they’re okay, he’ll come out and join the gathering. Especially if there’s food involved! Meet Leia, who was named after that famous Starwars Princess. Leia was adopted as a kitten with her brother Luke and after 10 years, a new member of her human family had a very severe immune response to Leia and Luke, which is why they are being fostered now and searching for a loving forever home where they can remain together.Leia is reserved initially and takes a little time to get to know you. Once she feels comfortable and begins to show her love and affection, she will melt your heart.  This little girl is incredibly lovable, and respectful of your space, and her own. She prefers to curl up next to you. But the better she gets to know you, the more likely she will decide that she wants to spend some time on your lap and she’ll curl up and sleep as long as you let her.She has an adorable voice. It’s a very lady-like “mew.” She doesn’t speak often, but at times it seems like she’s trying to express how happy she is and how much she loves you. She’ll also provide gentle encouragement at meal time.Leia is a slow eater, but if given the time, she’ll finish what you serve. And because her brother used to finish whatever she didn’t, once she walks out of the kitchen, she doesn't usually go back. She will take some short breaks as she dines. Her preference is wet food and pate style is her favorite.Leia loves to be brushed. Her fur is a bit dense so it’s helpful to do a daily brushing to avoid those unlady-like fur ball moments. She has a cat bed that she adores. And if it is near you, she’ll nap there for hours on end. She also likes to nap in cozy protected places, like in a corner behind some curtains or on the couch behind throw pillows or under a blanket during cooler weather. When something makes her nervous, those are her go to shelter spots, but her favorite is under a bed. If you are interested in learning more about these kitties or in adopting them, please click here to email their foster parent. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in.  You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process.  Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. DOB: 6/18/20 Anton is a tiny happy floof ball who had a rough beginning living on the streets. He was found near-lifeless lying in an alley behind a seafood market in Panorama City and was diagnosed with both a bad respiratory infection and flea-bite anemia. Foster mom took him in and after a bath, medication, and TLC, he has shined up like a new penny. He doesn't realize his size and has no problem chasing and wrestling with bigger kitties. When he isn't sprawled out hogging the cat bed, his favorite place to lay is on top of the toilet tank! He is a big fan of Tiki Cat Stix treats, feather wand toys, and batting around balled up paper towels. Anton is a very playful little boy so he must be adopted with another kitten, like foster mates Randy or Brad Hamilton (also his orange brother, Amos, will be available soon) or go to a home with a young, energetic resident cat.  If you are interested in learning more about this kitty or in adopting him, please click here to email his foster parent. DOB: 4/15/20 Basil and Nutmeg are bonded brothers that are extremely affectionate and love to cuddle. Nutmeg is the runt so he is a little smaller than his brother and they have different personalities - Nutmeg is a total love bug that likes everyone at first sight. He will climb into your lap or lie across your neck, and cuddle.  He will meow at you if you ignore his cuddle request. Basil wants you to earn his love and affection and once you do, he turns into an adorable little purr machine.  Basil and Nutmeg like to spend their days first and foremost, cuddling with humans. Yes, they do like to play and wrestle and nap together, but cuddling or being petted is their top priority.  Oh! And they are fascinated by videos for cats on YouTube. They are both huge fans of treats - especially shredded chicken or Gerber Chicken and Gravy baby food.  You are invited to meet these cutie pies and see if they are the right fur babies for you. DOB: 7/2/20 What’s better than peanut butter and jelly? Or sugar and spice? How about Blue Ivy and Finneas! Blue Ivy is gray/white and Finneas is a brown/white tabby. This dynamic duo is ready to jump on your couch, sleep on your head, and give your life that bit of sparkle. Just don’t let Blue Ivy have any coffee. She might saunter up to your cup and stick her entire head in, but that doesn’t mean you should indulge her. While Miss Ivy is at (or on) the breakfast table, Mister Finn is probably curled up on the couch waiting for you to pick him up. Finneas is the kind of kitten you can pick up and reenact that iconic scene from the Lion King with and then put him on your shoulder for a ride around the house while he kneads your shoulder. Blue Ivy needs to be treated with more subtlety. She will make biscuits on your pants, sleep in your arms, and purr into your ear but only when she wants to. She’s spoiled like that. These two are a treat to watch play together. The drama, backstabbing, and gymnastics of kitten playtime is an amazing boredom buster.    Blue Ivy and Finneas were raised in an energetic household full of other cats, people, and even a dog. They’re great at navigating new environments and will do well in almost any home. Their foster mom bribed an 8-year-old with candy to socialize them, so they’re also good with kids. These two are completely bonded and MUST be adopted together.    To see more of Blue Ivy & Finneas’s story check them out on @sunshine_fostering on Instagram If you are interested in learning more about these kitties or in adopting them, please click here to email their foster parent. DOB: 4/16/20 Brad Hamilton is a handsome bashful little guy with beautiful black rimmed green eyes. He was found living behind a seafood market in Panorama City with 2 siblings and multiple other cats. He and his 2 brothers were rescued and are now living large with food, toys, treats, and a safe place to sleep. No more hard street life for this guy! Brad has a remarkably long tail and appears to be growing some amazing future floof! He loves to be picked up and put his head back for some chin scratches. Will show affection by rubbing against your legs when you are standing. Hasn't yet meowed, but will purr even if you just look at him. He still gets a bit spooked by fast movements and may run and hide if startled. Doesn't have a mean bone in his lanky body. Brad plays with any and everything but is quite fond of feather wand toys. He is very active and needs to be adopted with his best bud, brother, and playmate for life, the adorable Randy!
