From Joe's foster mom: "Meet Joe! This sweet, goofy and energetic young dog is a work in progress. He is working hard to overcome a past where he was not given enough to eat and was obviously not respected or loved. He was very afraid of being hurt by people when he first arrived and would 'pancake' at the slightest raised voice. Even though he has that past, this dog is a sweetheart and LOVES LIFE! He cannot control his happiness that he is now living a life of being loved, with a warm, safe place to sleep every day and night, and all the food and fresh, clean water he needs! His joy is exuberantly expressed in his wagging tail and body! He LOVES being pet and cuddled and will snuggle on the couch for as long as you'll sit there with him.   Because Joe was severely malnourished and deconditioned at arrival, he is still getting to a healthy weight. He is gaining muscle every day and once he has filled out with muscle, his body can start adding some fat to his thin frame. He is on a weight gaining diet where he eats two meals a day of high-quality kibble with white rice and pumpkin, and is also on probiotics and Omega 3 supplements. He gets multiple high quality treats throughout the day in his positive reinforcement training program.    Joe is crate-trained and does not make a peep overnight. In the morning he makes the cutest little vocalizations as he waits his turn to be taken outside. He prefers to do his toileting outside and is good inside as long as he is monitored and set up to succeed.    Joe LOVES all people and children though he is still learning how to interact safely with humans, given his size. He would do best in a loving home that is familiar, patient and knowledgable of the traumatized dog. His best home would be with adults or with children 12+ years who can respect the boundaries and loving consistency needed by a dog learning to overcome his past. He loves children and stays stock still while they pet him when he is out walking in our community. He will need continued practice and learning on how to interact calmly with people of all ages, and is making great progress with each experience he has.   Joe respects my non-reactive cat and mostly ignores my reactive grouchy cat though he will bark at him occasionally when they are outside together. Joe is easily re-directed and has never acted aggressively. He would do best with managed introductions with any cat.   Joe is friendly and non-reactive to any dog he has met and gets along great with his foster sister and my two other dogs. He loves to run zoomies with other dogs and avoids active 'wrestling' interactions. When he is running zoomies he sometimes vocalizes in short happy barks at the sheer joy of running with a friend! His name could be Joy instead of Joe, as this dog truly exudes joy in nearly everything he does!   Joe is learning to walk on a leash and does well with a chest attachment harness. He is a strong dog but does respect the leash. He is VERY birdy and walks with his head in the clouds looking for anything with wings. He is easily re-directed and does really well on walks in the community. When off leash in the fenced back yard, he will bark at birds who fly by or are at the feeders. He has a happy bark!   Joe will do best with a family or single owner where someone works from home and can dedicate time to helping him heal from his past. He wants to be near his person when he is inside and does settle for a nap in his bed or with a chew toy.   He will thrive best in a home with a fenced yard where he can run his joy and exuberance out before being asked to settle or to learn new concepts.    Joe is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines, and is HW negative on montly HW and flea/tick prevention." show less

From Hannah's foster mom: "Meet Hannah! She is young, energetic, beautiful and athletic! Her colors are a stunning liver and white with the softest, silkiest ears. She came from a hunting lodge where she most likely did not receive kind human interaction. She LOVES to be pet and cuddled, though she is still learning people will always be kind to her from here on out! She would love to be your very best friend and outdoor adventure companion!   Hannah loves people and children but would need to have a home with older children (12+ years) who can respect boundaries in a learning dog. She will do best in an experienced dog-owner home who understands, celebrates, and can manage a very smart Alpha female! Hannah is absolutely ready to learn anything you will teach her and would make a great agility dog (this girl can JUMP! One of her nicknames is "Poptart" because she looks like a poptart popping out of a toaster when she jumps!) or a runner's companion.    Hannah would do best with some off leash time to run her exuberant energy out at least once a day or to go on at least one long walk with other toileting walks throughout the day. She has never tried to scale the 5-6 foot dog and privacy fence she has now.    Hannah is crate-trained and eats her meals in her crate. She sleeps overnight in her crate without a peep and spends up to two hours at a time in her crate during the day. She would thrive in a home where someone works from home to be able to let her out to stretch her legs multiple times each day. She only had one accident in the house the first week and knew to go outside after that.    Hannah plays very well in a group of other off leash dogs. She is very stimulated by stuffies and can resource guard them when overstimulated. She easily trades out the stuffie for a high-value treat and calms down quickly when re-directed.    Though she is a bird dog, she is not overly "birdy" and is not distracted by winged creatures out on walks in town. She loves meeting people in the community and starts wiggling all over as a new person approaches. She is very strong and will need continued learning experiences on how to be a good community dog.   Hannah ignores both my cats, one is non-reactive and one is grouchy and reactive--she pays either no mind and would need a managed introduction to other cats.    Hannah walks very well on a leash for a dog not initially trained to do so and will need continued guidance. She has the cutest prancy-hop every 5th or 6th step that earned her another nickname: "Prancy Dancer".   Hannah is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, is HW negative and on monthly HW and flea/tick prevention. She is still a bit thin, but on the way to a healthy weight." show less
