Hi there! My name is Henry. I am a young (2-3 year old) male Pointer. People say that I have a beautiful head and well, I would have to agree. ;) I wandered up to a farm in West Texas. I don’t know if I was lost or dumped. No one has looked for me. That’s a good thing though, as I wasn’t treated well. But that’s behind me and as I see things, I have a bright future ahead, as a treasured four-legged family member! I am in a foster home with a pack of Pointers. I need a proper introduction to other dogs. I get along with the females and am ok with the males, but I prefer the ladies. Living in a house was all new to me, but I really like it! It’s warm inside and I am not out in the rain or wind looking for food. I get two meals a day and treats. I have a dog bed that is soft. I did chew on it — a little. I like to go outside and I pace at the door when I need to go out. My foster Mom says that I am catching on quickly to indoor life.  I am house broken and you can crate me. I am not crazy about the crate, but I understand that sometimes that is best. Who knew life could be so great? I am up to date on my shots, heartworm negative and on preventive. I am also neutered and microchipped. I LOVE my extra large rope toy. I happily carrier it around the yard. I play with the other dogs (male and female) and we watch birds and squirrels but that’s a hobby and not my job. I joyfully shred most toys. I have the energy you would expect of a young, healthy Pointer.  I have a very happy disposition - even when I get scolded I am happy. I love people. I have not met children but would probably be good with older children. I am actually not too bad on leash. I come when called in the house or the backyard.  My perfect home is with a family who doesn’t expect perfection but knows that with love and a little training I could be my very best. I will be a loyal companion who will love you to the moon and back!  Does your backyard look empty? Are there birds and squirrels to watch? Do you have a warm and cozy dog bed? Do you need someone to snuggle with and watch a good movie or binge some TV series? If this sounds good to you, then visit www.AmericanPointer.org and complete an application. I am in Texas but can easily pack my rope toy and head your way. show less

Maybelline Holly May for short.  I have had quite the journey.  I am an English Pointer, but a wanna be honorary Brittany.  (Note from NBRAN:  We wanted to help with the hoarding situation and choose her since she was in such rough shape and needed the help quickly.) I came from an awful hoarding situation, chained outside with no food or water.  I was malnourished and hw positive.  I am a white/orange 43# spayed 8 yr old, a sweet quiet girl that just wants a loving place to lay my head, be spoiled, and snuggled with while you read or watch tv.  I am utd on all my vaccines, on hw/ft prevention and completed my heartworm treatment.  Now I am ready for my home.  I get along with other dogs, but I just want my person and have a peaceful loving home.  I am low energy.  I do need to gain some more weight.  I have 2 fatty lipomas, my Foster Dad took me to have them checked out, they are nothing and no worries.  When I was going through hw treatment and on prednisone, I was very hungry, so I ate some designer sheets I laid on and my foster dads draw string on his shorts, and I did have to have surgery.  All recovered and I have been a very good girl since. My vet has declared me one healthy beautiful girl. My New Year’s wish is a home to love, spoil and make me theirs forever.   I do need a physical fenced in  yard, as I love to sun and breath the air, but I don’t want to be chained ever again  If you are interested in adopting me, please visit www.NBRAN.org to complete an adoption application. Contact Melinde Waddle at macgammy@gmail.com and/or Nancy Walker at nwalker@capecod.net  for more information after you have filled out the application. The adoption fee to adopt Holly May in Tulsa, OK is $175  to offset her vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful pets in need. Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles. show less
