Adopted 10/12/2022. Hi! I’m Samson. I’m a 2 and a half year old boy GSD and weigh 85 pounds. My personality is also quite big! Sponsor Samson by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Samson’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Samson thanks you! I’m confident and eager to please. I’ll make a super companion as I completely engage with my people and I’m really fun to take out and about. I love to ride in the car and will secure that front seat next to you and ride shotgun if you let me. I want a spot where I can get the best view out of the front window. I love water and I’ll seek out swimming pools and fountains so I can get wet. I like other dogs but can be a bit forward when meeting them and I’ll need some work in this area so I learn how to meet dogs calmly and respectfully; many dogs will think I’m being rude and may be offended by my greeting style. I don’t have much of a prey drive and may be ok with cats. I’ll require an adopter who will ensure that I get the appropriate amount of exercise for a youngster like me and who can provide leadership and continued training. I can be a bit mouthy when I get overstimulated and need reminders that this behavior is not ok. I am super receptive to guidance and training and am happy to do what you ask. Just need someone who knows us GSDs and who will consistently show me the way. Trust me! It will be worth it and we will be BFFs. I already know lots of the basics: sit, down, paw, come…and I’m sure I would enjoy group training. I do well on leash and pass other dogs politely for the most part. However, if another dog gives me the hairy eyeball, I just may bark at him. I will be a joy to work with. My foster mom says I just “get it.” She also says that I will be an exceptional partner for a GSD enthusiast who will find just as much joy as I do in doing things together. One more thing that she says that I don't like to just come right out with is that I am absolutely stunning and that photos don't do me justice. It's kind of embarrasing but that's what she says! Because I’m a big boy who still needs training, my friends think that a household without small children would be best. Dog savvy respectful teens would be fine though. If you’d like to meet me, I’ll be waiting in Santa Rosa. You like this dog...now what? Adopted 9/26/2022. Sasha is a 10 year old sweetheart with kind, beautiful brown eyes and soft sable coat. Unfortunately she was returned to rescue. She was adopted 3 years ago but her dad has severe medical issues and cannot take care of her anymore. It's sad but it happens.  Sponsor Sasha by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Sasha’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Sasha thanks you! Even though Sasha is 10, she's still very active. She trots nicely, loves to chew on bones, and is perfect at leash walking; she is a dream to walk. She loves to follow her people around the house and yard. Talk about a really good girl! She is respected in the pack at her foster home. She gets along with all dogs and has seen a few horses up close with no reaction. She still likes to play. Sasha is healthy but she does need to lose some weight. Nice cool walks will allow her to lose that extra weight and strengthen her legs. After a stroll, she loves laying by her people's side. She will really benefit from a high quality diet. Sasha will be waiting with her fabulous foster family in Newcastle. You like this dog...now what?  Adopted on 10/27/2022. Hi! I’m Sparky. I’m a 1 year old GSD possibly mixed with Belgian Malinois. Sponsor Sparky by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Sparky’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Sparky thanks you! I was found in a park in Sacramento and some good Samaritans took me in and contacted my new friends at BAGSR. I’ve had some time to settle in and was looked over by the dog doc. I’m now ready to find my very own forever family. I’m friendly and have attached myself (like with glue) to my foster dad and will bond hard with my adopter too. I'm an affable boy and have a sweet demeanor. I am an energetic youngster and will love living with active humans. I’ll need someone who can provide me with guidance and training plus physical and mental stimulation. Once I’ve had my fill, I settle down nicely and will snooze next to you on the couch. I’m still getting used to indoor living and really don’t like to be sent outside alone. I know to go out to the yard for potty and have pretty good house manners. I will occasionally swipe unattended food though….I still have some things to learn. Not that it’s OK to steal food but my fosters understand. I was found in the park really thin and have been eating with gusto to make up for lost calories. I sure enjoy my food and my food bowl! I like toys and love my foster brother. I get along famously with other dogs. I meet them appropriately, am playful with them and enjoy their company. Given my easy-going demeanor, as suspected, I met some cats and did GREAT. I would do well as an only dog or with another dog or cat - of course proper introductions are a must. As an only dog, I would need an adopter who will spend extra time with me as I so adore being with my family. I do ok in a crate and will go in willingly but boy do I get excited when I know it’s time to come out. My foster mom and dad have been letting me sleep free in the bedroom and I do great. Not a peep out of me all night.  My foster fam says I’m affectionate and like to cuddle. I allow all over handling and did great with the vet. Something you should know about me is that I am a good listener and am eager to please. I also like treats and take them gently. In true GSD fashion I alarm bark when someone comes to the house or yard. My favorite toys are stuffies. I walk pretty well on leash and am learning my basics quickly. Like most of us youngsters, I will benefit from training and I will be a joy to work with because I will do what you ask as long as I understand. I’m also always willing to get in the car and go. My ideal family will one that can spend lots of time doing fun things with me and my foster fam says I will make a terrific family pet. I’ll be waiting with my super cool foster family in Sacramento. Adopted on 7/26/2022. "Teddy Bear" is a gorgeous cream and black coat male of about 3 years. He’s at a perfect body weight of 74# and is learning that a perfect life includes living in a house.   Sponsor Teddy Bear by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Teddy’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Teddy thanks you! Nothing makes "Teddy Bear" happier than being with his person;  24x7 would suit him just fine. Perhaps that would change somewhat if he gets a doggie best friend. For now, he likes going to the home office with his foster mom to hang out while she works at the computer and on Zoom calls. He does not disrupt work but recognizes her break times when there are often mini training sessions with treats!   Yes, he is very food motivated and takes treats gently which makes training easy. Initially he didn’t recognize any obedience commands but he wants to please. He now has the basics of "come", "sit", "down", "house", "car", and his release word “ok”.  While he knows the concept of "stay" he tries to decide when he's done staying rather than waiting to be released, so we're working on that. He's just been introduced to "take it" and "leave it". He has shown inclination to counter surf and put paws on the table which are corrected at each occurrence. With multiple mini-training sessions each day which he loves, his obedience is rapidly advancing. “Teddy Bear” is house-trained and is learning to potty on command.  He has not marked in the house or in a store. He loves car rides. "Teddy Bear" rides loose in the back seat of a sedan where he quickly settles and doesn't disrupt the driver.  He's been left alone in the car for brief (test) periods with no barking or anxiety noted. He gets anxious going through automatic doors and seeing his reflection in glass. He seems to be crate-trained. He loves to go on long walks but walking on a loose leash needs work. He often breaks "heel" position to check out all the smells or to accelerate the pace. Perhaps he could be a running companion when he masters staying in his lane. He would benefit greatly from structured obedience training classes. Since he wants to please, he will do well. A playful and energetic personality is starting to emerge. Adopted on 6/19/2022. Hi! I’m Willow! I’m a 3 year old female GSD with classic black and tan markings and lithe athletic build. My foster mom says the black coloring around my big beautiful eyes makes it look like I’m wearing mascara.   Sponsor Willow by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Willow’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Willow thanks you! My foster mom says the black coloring around my big beautiful eyes makes it look like I’m wearing mascara and I take that as a compliment! I’m ready to find a forever family that will reciprocate all the love I have to give (which is a LOT). Because of my outgoing personality and my naturally high activity level, I like to play and exercise like a much younger dog. So I’m looking for an active family that will get out on walks and play with me a lot. I’ve made dog friends all around the neighborhood and on pack walks. I get along fine with most other dogs that I meet. In fact, I’ve been having play dates every week over at the neighbor’s house with their big male German Shepherd and we always have a blast together! So I’d probably fit right in if you have a slightly older (or younger) male dog in your home already. I can tell you one thing, we would keep each other plenty busy, LOL! Everyone who meets me is surprised at how loving and affectionate I am. I guess that because I seem so active and crazy playful at times! But I really like meeting new people as long as I have a proper introduction to them. I also like most children too as long as they are respectful. I have previously lived with kids around ages 8 – 10. But with my natural exuberance, I may be a little much for kids younger than that. I’ve never lived with a cat before, but I wouldn’t rule it out if I got the right kind of introduction. I can still be a little protective, but I’ve really tried to work on that since living with my current foster family. They say I’m “making good progress” whatever that means. Now, about this whole walking thig. I really do love going for leash walks around the neighborhood. It’s just that I get so excited when we leave the house with all the other dogs that I can get a little yarpy until I calm down after a block or two. But don’t worry, as long as you’re patient I’ll continue to work on being better.I really like going for rides in the car, but I’m not a big window sniffer like the other dogs in my foster pack. I’d much prefer to just lay down in the back of the car and chill until we get where we’re going. Speaking of destinations, I really like going places like Lowes and PetSmart because everyone fawns over me and wants to meet me. I don’t mean to sound like a diva, but it’s kind of nice to be reminded that you’re special by total strangers!I have already learned some basic obedience commands like “sit” and “down”. I just need more one on one work and practice to learn more. Actually I wouldn’t mind being enrolled in an obedience training classes to help me learn more manners. Just think, you and me going to class together, learning everything and bonding, how cool would that be?I definitely like to play with some toys, especially rope tugs and things I can chew on like Nylabones. I think I’ve almost got this housebroken figured out. But I was more of an outside dog in my old home, so don’t get mad at me if I have an accident. Just remember to let me out from time to time and I won’t leave a mess for you! And this will get better with time for sure. While I am a very active and busy girl, I do know how to enjoy a quiet moment and how to chill out at the end of the day. And don’t worry about me fussing at night, or barking to get you up early. I am fully crate trained and go to down easy at bedtime. And honestly, I really don’t mind sleeping in a little some days! So, if you’re looking for a fun, sweet, active girl, I may just be your perfect match. I’ll be waiting with my foster family in Folsom.   You like this dog...now what?
