ADOPTED 6/19/2024 Sponsor “Puppy”  by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Puppy’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for nutritious food and supplements and medical expenses. “Puppy” thanks you! Hi there! I'm an adorable, friendly puppy with quite a story. Some kind-hearted people saved me from the freeway, and now I’m safe and happy. For now they just call me “Puppy”. I absolutely love meeting new people and dogs. I've had some fun puppy play dates with my neighbor's dogs and have formed a great bond with the two small, adult dogs at my foster home. When we go on training walks, I'm always curious about other dogs, but I make sure to obey commands and keep my distance when asked. I've developed a strong connection with my foster mom and dad, and I'm always excited to greet our neighbors and their friends, no matter their age. Generally, I'm a quiet pup, and the only time you'll hear me bark is when I'm having a blast playing with my doggie friends or my humans. I'm well-behaved around new people and love being a proactive greeter without jumping up on anyone. My curiosity and trustworthiness shine through with everyone I meet, making me extremely comfortable around others. I adore playing with squeaky toys and chasing balls, and I currently live happily with both dogs and cats. I'm a healthy puppy and a good listener, always ready for new adventures and meeting new friends! I’ll be staying with the Good Sams until I find my forever family. This is a Courtesy Post for the puppy’s finders in San Jose. Puppies this young cannot be left for more than a few hours at a time. Please only apply if you can be home with your puppy. ADOPTED 6/16/2024  Met kitty and ignored. Hopefully this will be Omar's last and final forever home. He's really a nice gentle giant. KJ ADOPTED 8/5/23  returned 06/24 (held by owners due to no open spots).due to they no longer have time for him. States they were working from home when they adopted him and now they both have to go to work and spend 8-10 hours away from the house HOWEVER, he's a teacher and school is out for the summer. Something just not fitting here. When evaluated it was noted that he had a quite large and unattended hotspot on his neck where the shock collar connectors were. If he had been shocked with this hot spot it would have been very painful!!  He also had a plastic pinch collar on and his regular collar. This is a very sweet, gentle boy that should not have ever been subjected to a shock or prong collar, especially with such an ugly hot spot. When questioned they stated they just noticed it but I find that very difficult to believe as it's quite obvious and was noticed immediately in the picture. Poor Omar. Glad he's out of there and on to a better life. This adopter also claims to be a trainer which is very disturbing. KJ Sponsor Omar by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Omar's sponsor and your donation will help pay for nutritious food and supplements and medical expenses. Omar thanks you! Hi! I’m Omar. I'm a big, friendly and social GSD boy.  I like everyone I meet and enjoy being out and about. I’m a happy guy and will easily approach for pets and attention (and treats, I like treats). I have pretty good house manners and in my last home I learned to do my business outside. I spent a good part of my day outside playing with my brother, Benny, but did sleep inside and I would very much like more of the inside life. I know how to use the dog door but may need a brush up on basic house rules. I want to please and I learn fast so this should be fun  I walk pretty well on leash and I met my first horse recently. I barked a few times but then just settle down while the humans chatted a bit. Mr. Horse walked on and I was just fine. I don’t pull much but can when I'm really excited. I'm not leash reactive but could use some more practice (hint hint). I know the basics, like sit, down and shake and I come when called. I really enjoy playing fetch and will bring the ball back and drop it. You can also easily remove it from my mouth. I take treats very gently and do not resource guard anything. I don't challenge fences but I do know how to flip a latch - I'm quite smart. I do love the water and will get in a fountain or wading pool and would love to try a lake, river or pool. I think I would be a good swimmer.  I am very affectionate and love being handled and loved on. I’m a great big teddy bear dog. I used to live with cats and have ignored them where I’m staying now.  I will make a great dog for a family that wants to take me places and open up my world. I ride well in the car and enjoy going places. I would love to do some hiking and meet some new friends. I hope you’d like to meet me. I’ll be waiting in Santa Rosa. You like this dog...now what? Sponsor Lexi by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Lexi's sponsor and your donation will help pay for nutritious food and supplements and medical expenses. Lexi thanks you! I'm Lexi, and I must say, I'm pretty proud of my looks. At four years old and about 70 pounds, I've got this gorgeous dark sable coat that's hard to miss. But it's not just my appearance that stands out; it's my personality too. I've been told I'm a real sweetheart. People say I'm the dog equivalent of a Mensa member, and honestly, I can't argue with that. I'm a thinker, always weighing my options and sometimes even outsmarting my foster mom. Curiosity? I've got it in spades. I'm confident and eager to help with whatever's going on, whether it's inside the house or outside in the yard. Oh, and did I mention I've got those expressive eyes? They tend to tell my story pretty well. Now, I've got a spirited playmate in my foster home, a two-year-old German shepherd who's a ball of energy. He's constantly tugging on ropes, chewing on stuff, and basically being a pest in the most playful way possible. But here's the thing – I love it! I match his play style, whether it's chasing, wrestling, or letting him have his way with my neck (apparently, that's his idea of fun). I am a wonderful playmate for other dogs! And I can't resist the occasional zoomies on my own. However, I'm not all go, go, go; I take breaks to regroup and head back to my foster mom for some back scratches before diving back into the action. As for cats, I'm curious about them, but I promise I have no bad intentions. I've been around a senior cat in my foster home, and I've been nothing but polite. It's just that I like to understand what makes them tick. Inside the house, I'm well-behaved and house-trained. My curious mind leads me to investigate every statue, yard art, or any odd object I come across. I even notice the radio and TV when I pass through the living room – I guess I'm just that observant. Meeting new people makes me really happy. Scratch my back or rub my belly, and you'll see me in seventh heaven. And did I mention I enjoy garden hose baths? Yep, I'm a dog with unique tastes! But here's the deal – I need regular mental stimulation. I'm whip-smart, and that brain of mine craves some exercise. So, if you're considering bringing me into your home, make sure you're experienced with us German shepherd dogs who, like me, sometimes have their own agenda. I bond quickly, and I thrive on attention. I'm not just a pretty face; I'm a loyal and intelligent companion waiting to be a wonderful addition to some lucky family. I'll be waiting with my foster family in Santa Rosa.  You like this dog...now what? You can sponsor Jade by clicking here. Your name will appear right here and 100% of your donation will help pay for food, treats and toys. Jade thanks you! Hi! I'm Jade, your potential new best friend! I’m a sweet young lady German Shepherd, approximately three years old and I've got a heart full of love to give. At around 60 pounds, I'm a petite girl with a stunning black and red long coat that's bound to turn heads wherever we go. I've had my fair share of changes in life, but what I really crave now is stability and a family to call my own. I'm incredibly affectionate and just want to bond with my humans, showering them with all the love and loyalty I have to offer. When it comes to making friends, I'm a pro. I'm super people and dog-friendly, always eager to greet new faces with a wagging tail and a big smile. I love dogs - big and small! As for cats, well, I haven't had the chance to meet any yet, but I'm optimistic that my loving attitude will extend to them too! I especially love my humans and must know what they are doing at all times. A dog sibling would be fun but I definately don't need one as long as I can have some dog friends.  Now, let's talk training. Sure, I might not know all the tricks in the book just yet, but I'm a Shepherd, and we're known for our intelligence and eagerness to learn. With a patient and experienced trainer by my side, I'm confident I'll master those house manners in no time. I might have a habit of snooping around and putting my paws up on counters, but hey, who doesn't love a little adventure? So, if you're looking for a furry companion who's ready to embark on a journey of learning and love, look no further. I'm here, waiting for that special someone who'll show me the way and give me the forever home I've been dreaming of. Let's make memories together, one paw at a time. To be helpful,  I will alarm bark when someone comes to the house. I’ll be waiting with my foster mom in Sacramento. Hope to meet you! You can sponsor Lola by clicking here. Your name will appear right here and 100% of your donation will help pay for food, treats and toys. Lola thanks you! Hi there, I'm Lola, the two-year-old German Shepherd. I'm a long-haired beauty, and my coat is in tip-top shape. When I get really excited, I can be a bit jumpy and mouthy, but don't worry, I calm down pretty quickly. I'm just a very happy girl.  I must admit, I'm a bit cautious around strangers (I meam, I AM a GSD after all). Most people I'm happy to meet, but a few make me a bit nervous. If I initiate the meeting, I'm fine, but if someone approaches me too directly, I might bark. I'm working on it though and I'm getting better with each new person I meet. Once I know you and trust you, I'm a sweetheart with no issues at all. I might be a bit protective when strangers come near my vehicle or home, so my new family should be aware of that. But when I'm out on a leash walk I'm on my best behavior, no reactivity at all. I even went on a pack walk with lots of other dogs and people and I did great! I do enjoy some pampering. I let my foster give me baths and dry me with a blow dryer, and I've been to the groomer before. Brushing is okay, but I can get a bit nervous about it, probably because someone tugged on my long coat too much in the past. I do need brushing though so I don't get ugly mats in my beautiful coat. I absolutely crave attention, and I love it when you rub my face. It calms me down and makes me so happy. I'm pretty easy to walk with a front clip harness, but I can pull a bit with a martingale. Good news is, I'm not destructive in my kennel. I'm not a fan of it and would prefer to be out and about with my people but I can do it if needed. I might not be into toys or balls, but I'm definitely treat-driven and, most importantly, people-driven. I could use some confidence-building and more socialization with new people. I promise to be a wonderful companion with a bit of work and love. And group training sounds like a great idea for me. So, if you're experienced with pups like me and can give me the love and patience I need, I'll be your loyal and affectionate Lola, ready to be the best companion ever! I’ll be waiting in my foster home in Martinez. Otis thanks you! Hi, I'm Otis and I'm looking for a home that likes us wolfy looking boys. I'm a 1 year old lovable, silly goofball of a boy and I have been told I am quite the character. I'm a sleek, young, handsome dude with a beautiful soft coat. I love riding in the car and going places. I would make a great hiking partner or travel buddy and would be ok hanging out watching a movie and sharing a snack as well. I walk nicely on leash and don't pull my peeps around. I'm also fine passing other dogs and don't make a fuss. I don't dig or challenge fences, I just really like being with my family and exploring the world. I'm a very friendly boy once we meet and say hello. I was pretty secluded in my prior pup life and didn't meet many strangers so it's all new to me. Once we meet and you show me your butt scratching skills, we're good!  I mind my own business when out walking and prefer to approach new friends when ready.  I also didn't get the chance to meet other doggos when I was a wee pup however I've been meeting lots of new friends lately and absolutely love to play, something I missed out and and am still learning to do. I did live with another sweet dog and my best buddy was a kitty but they were around pretty much from day one. I prefer smaller groups of dogs that share my play style, and would prefer to stay out of dog parks and larger groups. My friends tell me I'm a bit of a wuss sometimes but being a dog is hard work.  I'm really just a handsome, playful guy looking for a home that will take me places and show me how much fun the world can be. I will reward you with lots of affection and silly antics. I'll be waiting in Santa Rosa. You like this dog...now what? My name is Zaida, and I'm a one-year-old German Shepherd girl. Let me tell you a little bit about myself! I'm a wonderful young pup with a happy-go-lucky attitude. I just love life and everyone in it! When I'm out for walks, I strut my stuff on the leash like a pro, and I'm always eager to meet new doggy friends. Sometimes I get a little excited and pull, but I'm easily redirected because, hey, there's just so much to see and sniff! Meeting people is my absolute favorite thing. Seriously, I'm a social butterfly! Whether it's adults or even kids, I'll lean right in for some pets and affection. I've got zero aggression in me, and I've come a long way from my shelter days. Now, I'm just a calm and friendly gal ready to spread love wherever I go. Car rides are the best! I prefer to cozy up in the front seat and watch the world go by. And when we're out and about, I'm all about exploring and checking out new smells. I've been pretty awesome on all sorts of surfaces and in different situations – stairs, stores, bikes, scooters, you name it! I've got brains and energy to spare, which makes me perfect for some fun activities like agility or scent work. But most of all, I'm just a gem of a pup looking for a loving family to share my adventures with. So, what do you say? Ready to bring a ray of sunshine like me into your life? I'm terrific when we're out and about, and I absolutely love riding in the car. I'm adaptable and go with the flow, whether it's a lively parade or a laid-back afternoon with friends in the park. I'm super attuned to my people and what they're up to; I just want to be part of the action. You could say I'm a real team player! Meeting new people is one of my favorite things, and I consider everyone a potential friend—unless, of course, you're a cat. Cats and I don't quite see eye to eye. But when it comes to other dogs my size or bigger, I'm a social butterfly. I'd really enjoy having a dog sibling because I love to play and pal around with my fellow canines. I've lived with school-aged kids before and did just fine with them. Plus, I'm an excellent listener, especially when there are treats involved. I'll stay laser-focused on you during treat-based training sessions—yum! In fact, I think I'd really enjoy going to dog school. I have great house manners, and I absolutely adore cuddling. If you need to put me in a crate, I'm fine with that too. So, what do you say? Could I be the perfect addition to your family? If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate, and adaptable companion who's ready to be your loyal teammate, then look no further—I'm your guy! I’ll be waiting with my foster mom in Sacramento. ADOPTED 3/20/2024 Sponsor Kit by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Kit's sponsor and your donation will help pay for nutritious food and supplements and medical expenses. Kit thanks you! Hey there, future best friends! My name is Kit, and I'm your go-to guy for all things sweetness and fun. At the ripe age of puppyhood, life is a grand adventure, and I'm here to make every moment count. Engaging and affectionate? Guilty as charged! I can't resist a good snuggle or play session. Let's just say, I'm always up for a good time. I especially love a good game of chase! My tail? Oh, it's a perpetual happiness machine. It wags like there's no tomorrow, expressing my sheer joy and excitement about life. Because, let's be honest, life is pretty pawsome! Now, let's talk sharing – no resource guarding on my watch. Whether it's my bowl of delicious food or my favorite squeaky toy, I'm all about spreading the love. After all, sharing is caring, right? Affiliative is a fancy word that sums me up perfectly. I thrive on being close to my family, soaking up all the affection and attention you're willing to give. I'm not just a pet; I'm your four-legged confidant and partner in crime. Treats? Yes, please! I'm treat motivated, which means I'm a quick learner and always ready for a tasty reward. Teach me a trick or two, and let's impress everyone with my newfound skills. I am eager to please and am well on my way to learning the things all good dogs should know. I LOVE to go out for walks and I’m pretty good on leash too. I also really enjoy car rides. I am still a pup so I’ll need an adopter who can provide me with lots of exercise. And did I mention my beautiful buff coat? I'm not just a sweet pup; I'm a stylish one too. Picture it – me, with my sleek coat, making heads turn wherever we go.My foster mom says my photos don't do me justice. I know she's biased, but she says I'm magnificent! Good news for you if you have other dogs – I'm great with them! I've got this foster dog brother, and we get along like a house on fire. I'm all about respect and camaraderie in the canine world. I would love a dog sibling! Now, about that parrot – count me curious! I can't wait to meet this feathery friend and see what all the fuss is about. I'm open to making friends of all shapes and sizes. My foster fam says I’m oh so smart! I am growing up so I will alarm bark when I hear something funny but I don’t go crazy.  I can be a bit rambunctionus so for now I would be best with a family with older kids.  In a nutshell, I'm Kit, the engaging, affectionate, and treat-loving pup you've been dreaming of. I'm not just a terrific family dog; I'm your partner in crime and the missing piece to your paw-some family. Let's make memories together! I'll be waiting with my foster family in Sacramento. When it comes to walks, I like to keep things nice and orderly. Leash? Check. Wagging tail? Double check. I'm your go-to gal for a pleasant stroll around the neighborhood. I like other dogs and even get to spend some time in doggie day care getting my doggie playtime fix.  Sure, I might need a bit of training here and there, but hey, who doesn't? I'm a quick learner and eager to please, especially when it comes to mastering new skills and tricks. But here's the thing – I thrive on companionship. Being left alone isn't really my jam. I'm all about being part of the pack, and nothing makes me happier than being with my people, every step of the way. Sponsor Rufus by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Rufus's sponsor and your donation will help pay for nutritious food and supplements and medical expenses. Rufus thanks you! UPDATE from Rufus' foster family: Rufus is a delightful, sweet, spirited boy who enjoys being in the company of his people and interacting with his toys. He sidles up alongside his foster family, when he is looking to be petted, and loves his chest and scruff rubbed. His favorite toy is his beloved ball, he is motivated to play immediately when he see’s it. When given the opportunity to play fetch, he will joyously run across the yard to retrieve his ball. Rufus loves car rides and will happily accompany the opportunity to climb in his back seat without hesitation. He settles nicely into place with the windows ajar, enjoying the fresh air. He also will lay down and relax well, and even sleep on the car ride. It seems to be his happy place! Rufus has visited a pet store, where he picked out his own ball and his stuffed crocodile. He was exceptionally behaved in the pet store with other dogs and children nearby. Rufus is bright and observant, loyal, and likes to keep an eye on the parameters of his yard, and his people. He does well inside the home, however, he is still working on his potty training cues. Rufus seems to prefer to be outside, especially during the day where he can expend his energy or find a sunny place to lay down and enjoy. He has a tendency to jump when he’s excited, although he has shown improvement in that area with continual cues. He does well on leash during walks, hikes and light jogging. His foster family has introduced him to another dog, he enjoys having a friend to play with, and also seems independently happy to play on his own.  Rufus is a remarkable dog, who would benefit from a loving home, with someone who is willing to show him love, patience and compassion.   Rufus is a big happy 2 year old boy. He's the poster boy for handsome GSDs. Ruf is people friendly and meets strangers well. He LOVES, and we mean LOVES, to ride in the car. He will try to get in cars that resembles "his" car. He rides well (likes to stick his head out the window on slow country drives) and will settle right in to chew on his next favorite thing - the BALL. He loves his ball and will carry it with him if allowed.   Rufus has done well with other dogs and has no leash reactivity when out and about. Rufus walks well on a leash or front clip harness. He likes to explore on his sniff walks and has no issues with stairs, stores, doors, floors, etc. When he gets really excited and playful, he can be a little bit jumpy and once in a while a little mouthy, but its pretty gentle. OH - Ruf does great with baths and blowers. Just jumps right in the tub, stands still for both. He seems to enjoy getting clean.  Rufus does not do well in a kennel type environment and gets fairly stressed. He does great on walks and has met other dogs with no issues. He played nicely with pup Rocco and moved away from another dog that barked/lunged at him. In his foster home he lives peacefully with a senior boy that wants to keep him in line by bossing him a bit and Rufus takes it all in stride with no reactivity back to the older boy. Foster reports he's a big, gentle boy.   Rufus has not been cat tested. Due to his size, older children 12+ would be best.  You like this dog...now what? Sponsor Lucy by clicking here. Your name will appear on this page as Lucy’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for nutritious food and supplements and medical expenses. Lucy thanks you! A little about Lucy. Lucy is very smart and feisty. She is just finding her "Husky Voice" and realizing she loves to go for walks and explore the outdoors. She spends some days at home with me while I work from home, which means a neighborhood walk in the mornings, and then free range to go outside when needed. Other days she goes to work with her foster dad at the Shipyard. She hangs out in his office, sleeping, playing, meeting new people. There is always more happening there and she enjoys that quite a bit more. She has a tendency to play hard, and can get mouthy but we are working on that with redirection and LOTS of things to chew! Chewing toys of all different textures and materials keeps her engaged and happy.   She can also come on a bit strong with smaller dogs so a bigger older dog would be good for her to teach proper dog etiquette. She tends not to listen to our smaller older dog and pesters him relentlessly to play.  Not sure how she would do with little kids, since she is mouthy she needs strong and consistent redirection and correction so she may get rough if left unchecked.  She is definitely a smart girl and is very "treat" motivated. I say treat because she is a bit of a lightweight picky eater, she tends to graze throughout the day. Choosing to take a nibble here and there of her food. But she will do a lot for a good high value treat. This is a courtesy post and Lucy will be waiting in Rohnert Park. You like this dog...now what? I'm Rex, your friendly neighborhood German Shepherd! At two years old and weighing in at a 66 pounds, I like to think I've got the perfect balance of size and charm. First things first, let me tell you, I'm a people person... er, people pup! I absolutely adore humans. From big ones to little ones, I'm all about spreading the love and soaking up the attention. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's always ready to shower you with affection, look no further! You know that classic German Shepherd trait? Yep, the alarm bark. That's me! I take my job as seriously, so if there's anything out of the ordinary, you can count on me to let you know. But hey, don't worry, I'm not all business. I've got a playful side too! Speaking of play, balls are my jam. There's nothing quite like the thrill of chasing after a ball and bringing it back to my favorite human. It's like a game that never gets old! Now, when it comes to walks, I'm pretty good on leash. Once we’re in a groove, you won't have to worry about me pulling or causing a ruckus although sometimes when I see another dog out and about, I get excited and want to meet. I've got terrific house manners. No need to stress about me making a mess or causing trouble indoors. I know the rules, and I stick to 'em. Oh, did I mention I'm a bit of an obedience whiz? Yep, I've got a few skills up my sleeve, including responding to hand signals. Plus, I'm super treat-motivated, so training with me is a breeze! Now, about my furry friends... I get along great with other dogs, though I can be a tad pushy at times. But don't worry, I'm a quick learner and take correction like a champ. After all, I'm all about spreading the love and making friends wherever I go! And let's not forget road trips! I'm a pro in the car, happy to tag along on any adventure you've got planned. So there you have it, folks. I'm Rex, the German Shepherd with a heart of gold and a whole lot of love to give. Ready to welcome me into your pack?
