BRUIN WANTS TO GIVE A BIG WOOFY THANKS TO KERRY L FOR SPONSORING HIM IN MEMORY OF 'BAM'.  HE IS HONORED.  Hi! I’m Bruin. I’m a 3 year old boy GSD mix. I’m a friendly, sweet guy and would make an awesome pal around dog. I’m polite when I meet new people and once I know you I will definitely seek out attention. I love my belly scratches and brushing and bathing isn't too bad either. I walk nicely on leash and don't get all silly and barky when I see another dog. I’ll sometimes pull when I see something I want to head toward but for the most part I do quite well. I love going for walks. The best part for me is the smells! Sniff walks are the best. Oh..…good thing about the walks. I would be at my best weight if I could drop about 10 pounds. I have a rather stocky build and I weigh about 80 pounds but 65-70 pounds would be a healthier weight for me. Frequent walks would definitely help with my weight loss and fitness regime and my new family must be committed to providing me an appropriate amount of regular exercise. Of course I am treat motivated and I take treats softly. I’m great in the car and just settle down and relax until we get to our destination. I am a gentleman at the dog doc and the staff commented on how polite and accommodating I was during my exam. I stay calm, cool, and collected and let them do what they need to do.I also do fine in a crate but prefer to be out and about. I'm a good boy and not destructive. Other dogs are ok. I like meeting and saying hi but I'm not into playing. I don't like pushy dogs that get too much in my face. If another dog starts trouble I will defend myself. I would probably be happiest with another calm, easy dog that just likes to hang out like me. I have met and kissed a baby goat and said hi nicely to a horse but that pot-bellied pig thing was scarrrrey. I have seen a few cats and been mildly interested but not sure how I would do with them. I don't have much of a prey drive and I'm good with little dogs and puppies. Oh yeah, I LOVE kids!!  My new friends think that I will make a wonderful family dog since I’m a nice gentle boy.  I hope you’d like to meet me! I’ll be waiting in Santa Rosa.   You like this dog...now what? ALY SAYS 'WOOF, WOOF' WHICH MEANS THANKS JULIUS P FOR SPONSORING ME!!  Hi! My name is Aly. I’m a petite white girl GSD about 2 years old. I’m a bit on the shy side but warm up to new friends quickly. I currently live peacefully with small critters, a cat and other dogs. I can be a little timid around new dogs but I do enjoy their company. I use good manners when I meet them and I enjoy running around with them and exploring. I love my people and will bond strongly. I live with kids and really like them, too. I really seek out the humans who want to pay attention to me and I respond quickly when I’m called. Once I know you like me, I will check in often just to say hello. I am quite affectionate. I’m looking for an adopter who will spend time with me and provide me with regular mental and physical exercise. I will be a terrific companion to take out and about especially once I have a little more exposure to the world. I am easy going, I have a super calm demeanor and soft, sweet temperament. I haven’t had much training but my family says I am easy to train and a good listener. I pull just a little bit on my leash but I'm pretty smart and eager to please so it will be easy to teach me to walk perfectly. Leash walks will be great for my socialization and for my health. I have nice house manners and sleep quietly on my bed during the night. I will make a lovely companion and family dog. I hope you’d like to meet me. This is a courtesy posting. I am currently living with my family in San Jose while my friends at Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue help me find my perfect new home.  You like this dog...now what? He can play fetch but gets bored of it pretty quickly. He can do 10 runs on an A-frame before getting bored. He is curious about everything. He loves food but does not resource guard. No Cats! Needs someone who is a confident leader who can commit to training him.  He gets mouthy when he gets too excited, so he needs to be trained out of that. He is a jumper and can jump a standard 6-ft fence but usually he will come back when you call his name (Chase). Adopted on 7/25/2022. Hi, my name is Harper!  I’m an approximately 9 month old female GSD mix with standard black and tan markings and I weigh about 50 pounds.  I know, I know, my ears are kinda goofy looking, but people are always complimenting my big beautiful amber eyes.  So I guess that’s a pretty fair tradeoff.   Sponsor Harper by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Harper’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Harper thanks you! Fortunately, the nice people at BAGSR sprung me from a shelter and got me into their foster program.  It’s only been a few weeks, but I am really doing better now.  I have 4 other GSD pack mates around here that are all a little older and I’m learning a lot from all of them! Besides my eyes, people really love my soft plush coat.  Sure, I’m on the smaller side at 50 lbs. and there is a lot to like about me in this little package!  My foster family says I’m really smart, and I’ve been picking things up very quickly.  I’m friendly to all the people I meet and of course I’m very affectionate!  I do like most dogs that I meet when given a proper introduction. I am generally a calm girl and good in most any situation.  But I’m still very young and I love to play!  I like to chase my foster pack mates around and playing with different toys around the house.  But toys are good to have around, because it will prevent me chewing up your shoes (which may or may not have happened in my foster home).  I like to meet people, and I do get along with kids as long as they are respectful and play nicely with me. So I could be an only dog, but I’d probably happiest to be in a forever home with another dog and children to love and take care of me.    Everyone who meets me says I’m really smart. Probably because I love to work on learning good manners in exchange for treats!  I already have a lot of basic obedience commands like come, sit, down, and stay.  I just need a little time and practice to learn more advance stuff.  But honestly as much as treats are great, I’m really a lot more praise motivated (but don’t tell my foster mom that!). So if you end up adopting me you should plan on doing lots of training with me every day and I promise I’ll keep learning and making you proud. If you’re looking for a calm girl, maybe we can meet! I’ll be waiting in Folsom. You like this dog...now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form. Adopted on 11/1/2022 Who doesn't want a dog with some training and manners already installed? Bella has been in board and train for the last month. This means Bella has spent a month, living in a home with a top notch trainer learning all about life, and mastering all the obedience skills that will help her live in the world away from a shelter. If you adopt Bella the shelter is even including two one on one training sessions with the private trainer who worked with Bella. Bella's list of skills is pretty extensive, she is: house-trained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and knows sit, down, touch, find-it, get-it, come when called and much more. We've laid a solid foundation now her new family just needs to keep building on it. Bella is both silly and loyal, she has many friends and loves to greet them with her sloppy kisses. Bella LOVES the water - hose water, fountain water, and hose water are her favorite things - well besides her people. We think Bella will be most comfortable if she is the only dog in the home. ** ADOPTION FEE PAID *   Though our adoption animal information is updated frequently, please understand that there is a chance that when you arrive at our location the animal you have an interest in might have been adopted or another party might be going through the adoption process at that time. I’m a 5-1/2-month-old GSD pup, and am silky soft inside and out. I weight about 48 pounds now and will be an average sized GSD when I’m all grown up. I’m an affectionate girl and love cuddles and snuggles. I’m quite the smarty pants and already know how to use the dog door and to go potty outside. I use a crate without a fuss and enjoy a good stuffed Kong to keep me busy. Like most puppies my age, I will need my own things to chew on. I have a gentle personality and take corrections easily. Just show me the way and I’ll follow! I think toys are just fantastic! I play with them, toss them around and retrieve them. I’m treat motivated too. I am respectful when meeting other dogs and I really enjoy playing with them. I would love a dog sibling to do fun stuff with…or at least some regular canine playmates. I’m doing great on leash and think walks are fun, fun, fun…especially when we have time to stroll and sniff. I follow my peeps around in the house and don’t ever want to be too far from them or the action. Typical of us GSDs for sure. Of course I have lots to learn but what fun it will be to watch me blossom! My foster mom and dad are sure I’ll make a lovely family companion with consistent training and guidance. I’m ready for dog school! I think that would be so fun. I’ll be waiting in Livermore. Hope to meet you! You like this dog...now what? Adopted on 9/13/2022. Cash is a 8-9 month old GSD mix. He’s a perfectly compact 53 pounds and he loves dogs. Cash would be best suited to an active young household, with lots of adventures to look forward to. He loves to run, rough house and have a good time. He would love other dogs so playing is crucial. He may be too much for smaller children but teens or young adults would be fine.  THANK YOU ANDREA S for sponsoring Cash. He's a great pup and full of so many possibilities. Someone is going to be very lucky. Sponsor Cash by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Cash’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Cash thanks you! He absolutely loves to play with his foster sibling who matches him in size and play style. He has some very basic obedience down …. when he sees treats. But as a puppy, he will need the patience and guidance from someone who understand that puppies need work! He would greatly benefit from positive reinforcement only. Treats would be the way to go when training this boy on loose leash walking. He’s going to be a lot of fun, but much commitment must be given to him for structure, consistency and boundaries. He learns super fast. An adopter who can provide opportunities for play with a canine sibling or friends of similar energy and play style would be perfect; Cash’s social development would really benefit from this. Cash is super eager to please and he loves snuggles and sitting on your lap. And at times he has a lot of puppy energy! If you want a smart cuddle bug Cash may be for you. Adopted 10/20/2022. Hi I'm Coco. The people who are caring for me think I am probably between 4 and 5 months old . I still have my beautiful little baby teeth and my oh so soft thick puppy fur.  My friends from BAGSR guessed I might closer to 14-16 weeks.  They think my coat will be thick and full as an adult and my ears are like a magical stuffed animal. I am CUTE!! Sponsor Coco by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Coco’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Coco thanks you! My first family was unable to keep me and a nice lady stepped in to help me on my way then found the family who agreed to care for me until my FOREVER family is found. WOW that's a lot of changes for a puppy and I have some catching up to do.   I like other dogs and am living with a Bichon puppy who I love to play with. Bichons have bones like little birds though and I can be a rough and tumble player so pairing me with someone closer to my size and energy levels would be great.  I like people and I am super trusting of my foster family. I will tuck myself under my foster dad's legs if I am worried and if he sits in the chair I like to sit underneath and peek out until I know it's all good. I am pretty good on the leash as I really want to be with my foster dad and I actually get excited when the postal person comes- I approach with a loose body and tail wagging.   Now here is the part my new friends at BAGSR want you to know.  I am unsure of new things. I am a little worried about new people and may tuck away . If someone does not take their time to win my trust it worries me and my new family will need to give me space to make choices.  Puppies who have some timid tendencies must not be pushed or bribed ot come closer than is comfortable.  Slow steady socialization helps dogs to trust their environment and their people.   Like all puppies I will need to learn about being in the house and riding in the car.  I am so adorable that everyone will want me and many people will want to run up to pet me . My new family will have to be good advocates who can create safe boundaries for me so that I don't feel a need to protect myself.   If you have experience with shy dogs and are looking for a stunning , fluffy, package of  puppy ,please apply online and let's talk.    I'll be waiting with my caretakers in Union City You like this dog...now what? I am very friendly with people and was a stellar patient at the dog doc.  I love to play with other dogs and would enjoy living with another playful pup. I also get along well with cats. Even though I’m just a puppy, I know a lot of tricks and most of the basics including walking nicely on leash. I learned to use the dog door at my foster home the same day I got there. I also know to go potty outside. I have nice house manners and sleep quietly through the night. Adopted on 11/9/2022. Hi! I’m Fenur. I’m a 2 year old boy GSD and I weigh about 60 pounds. I’m a friendly boy looking for a new family who can provide me lots of companionship and adventures. I missed out on a lot of this but my new friends and foster family have been providing me with all of the things us GSDs deserve. I really enjoy meeting new friends and do great with humans big and small. Sponsor Fenur by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Fenur’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Fenur thanks you! I’m generally good with other dogs but can be selective and my new friends are helping me to work on my socialization skills. I walk nicely on leash and pass other dogs without issue as long as they don’t get too close. In the past, I did live with other dogs. But at this point, until I have time to practice my manners with other dogs, I should be the only dog in the household. I’m a sweet boy with a calm demeanor. I love to play ball and will try to engage people to play with me. I have nice house manners and sleep quietly through the night. I also ride nicely in the car. I have been getting a lot of training and my foster family loves me. They say I am a really good boy. I will do best with a family that will shower me with new adventures, love and attention and let me be a social, happy dog. I love to sniff and discover the world and I’m looking for a home that will allow to settle in to a safe and healthy environment/routine. I hope you’d like to meet me! Adopted on 11/17/2022. Fleur is a Belgian Malinos/German Shepherd Dog mix puppy -  about 14 weeks old. Fleur is a very sweet, astute puppy. She’s alert, observant and has a calm demeanor for a pup her age. She loves to snuggle with people and dogs. She plays hard with other young dogs and respects the elders. Sponsor Fleur by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Fleur’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Fleur thanks you! She takes gentle correction well and learns the first time. She likes to run away with the odd shoe, but that's just puppy behavior. She absolutely loves bones and toys and loves to play tug with her foster siblings. She sleeps where she likes and sometimes in the middle of the night she will want to crawl into bed with her people. Sometimes she will snuggle with dogs, and sometimes she may sleep on her own. She really doesn't like her crate but because she has been so good, has been loose in the house. She loves her doggie door and can be independent outside. She does dig which she learned it from her foster siblings. She is quite fearless but will read you before she decides you are safe to greet. She may sit and observe you for a quick few seconds before she approaches for pets. She loves to go in the car and would love an active family. She does great on leash and sticks close to her people. She’ll need continued training and socialization. She gets along great with her foster dog siblings and with the resident cat. She is waiting with her foster family in Newcastle. Adopted on 8/4/2022.  Hi! I’m Genevieve. That’s a pretty big name for a pup like me so my foster mom just calls me "Geni". I’m a five month old girl GSD. I’m a sweet and silly blank slate just chomping at the bit to learn. Sponsor Genevieve by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Genevieve’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Genevieve thanks you! Of course I’m smart and am quite a good student too. In my foster home we’re working on the basics and getting used to indoor living. I’m actually pretty good on leash already and will surely be a lovely walking partner. I’m getting the hang of things quickly.  I rode quietly in a crate to my foster home and am quickly learning the rules of the household. I do great in my crate during the night. I also easily allow all over handling; I don't mind my ears cleaned, my nails trimmed or even a bath. I’m very respectful with the resident dog and the parrot at my foster home. I met a cat today and didn’t try to chase. Did I mention I walk beautifully on leash? I’ll be super fun to train since I’m treat motivated and quite bright. I really love to use my nose so when I get a little older, I may enjoy scent work of some sort.  I have medium energy for a girl my age. I'm very adaptable and easy going. Whatever you're doing, I will happily do right along with you-sitting out in the yard, going for a walk, taking a ride in the car...I'm totally game. I love to chill with my foster mom while she's working in her office. I'm very well mannered when I go out and about and I meet new friends calmly. I'll even wait patiently if we're out for a walk and you want to stop to chat with friends. If your friends have a dog or two, I'll greet them polietly too. My house manners are also terrific for a pup my age.  Something you should know about me is that I learned to use the dog doors in about 5 seconds flat-yard to garage and garage to house...just like that!  Actually my foster mom was trying to hide them from me but I figured them out anyway. My foster family says that I am a sweet, sweet girl. I love to snuggle and will climb up in your lap for a nap.  If you'd like to meet me, I’ll be waiting with my foster fam in Sacramento. To adopt this puppy, you should have experience with working breed puppies and puppies this young cannot be left more than 4 hours at a time. Please only apply of you meet this criteria. You like this dog...now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at https://www.bayareagsr.org/adopt/3-adoption-application. Adopted on 10/30/2022.  Gidget is a 1 1/2 year old GSD. She's healthy, very fit and agile, and a bit on the smaller side at 50 lbs. Sponsor Gidget by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Gidget’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Gidget thanks you! She was found as a stray and BAGSR got her out of the shelter and into a foster home where she enjoys getting attention from her foster parents and she's having a lot of fun playing with her dog siblings. It takes a little bit of time for her to trust a new person but once she does she's very affectionate. She's housebroken and crate trained, and sleeps quietly in her crate all night. She's great in the car and she loves going on walks/hikes. Everything seems a bit new to her, so she still needs work on her leash skills when she's out and about, but she's getting a lot better every time, and she checks in with her handler when she needs some guidance. She met the resident cat, and although she seems workable with cats any potential adopters with cats should know that it will require some time and patience to make that work since she does find cats quite exciting. She's eager to please and loves food and treats, so positive reinforcement training would be great for her. She loves running and jumping so maybe agility training would be a good fit?
