Adopted on 3/31/2023. Hello! My name is Max. I am about 6 years old and have a thick fluffy brown sable coat. I weigh about 95 lbs. I’m definitely on the big side, but everyone I meet always tell me how handsome and nice they think I am. But I’m really a humble boy, so I never let it go to my head! I’m not a big runner but I do like to go for walks, and an occasional game of fetch too. Oh, and really, really love riding in the car! During quiet times, I’m just as content to hang out, relax, and chew on a soft bone toy. So overall, I’m a pretty laid back dude! I came into the rescue from the Placer County shelter. I ended up there because the family that owned me lived in an apartment and could not keep me. But now I’m ready to meet my forever family and give them all the love I have to offer. And at my size, that is a LOT of love. When I first got out of the shelter I was a little dog reactive. So the rescue sent me to training and then my foster home family has worked with me to build confidence and learn how to relax around other dogs. I have really learned to enjoy time with my foster pack of 3 other German Shepherds. So I would be happy if your family already has another dog or two. But I’m much more of a “people dog” so I’ll always prefer being with my humans given the option. Besides learning not to be reactive, I haven’t had a lot of formal training. But I’m really good with basic stuff like come, sit and stay. And I do pretty well on a leash whether walking by myself, or keeping up with my whole pack around. I’m fully housebroken and will let you know when I need to go out for a potty break. I am crate trained and enjoy having my quiet private time there. My foster family even feeds me in my crate, which I really like. I also like hanging out in the evenings on a dog bed if you’re relaxing or watching TV. If you work from home, don’t be surprised if you find me snoozing under your desk during the day. That’s just because I like to be close to my people whenever I can. Just don’t be surprised when I walk up to you and ask for a hug because I really love being hugged! If you’re looking for a big hearty guy who is handsome and smart, but also super sweet and laid back, check me out. If you think I could be a good fit for you and your family, let the nice people a BAGSR know and they will set up a meet and greet for you. I’ll be waiting in Folsom.
