ADOPTED 1/3/2026 Hi! I’m Bo—but the kids in the neighborhood call me "Rainbow", and honestly, I answer to both because I’m just that charming.🌈🐾 I’m a 9-year-old German Shepherd, but don’t let that number fool you—I’m young at heart, healthy, and still rocking plenty of pep in my step. I’m a big, handsome guy who loves playing with other dogs, hanging with my furry friends, and oh yes… car rides are my absolute favorite. If you open a car door, I’ll assume it’s for me. Shotgun is my spot. At home, I’m a total gentleman. I live peacefully with dogs and cats, have excellent house manners, and know how to keep things calm and civilized. Outside, I may put on my serious face and dramatically stalk squirrels (it’s a hobby), but overall I’m cool, collected, and well-behaved. I walk pretty well on leash (unless I see a squirrel), pass other dogs like a pro, and don’t get worked up by neighborhood hustle and bustle.  People are pretty great too. I’m friendly, polite, and happy to say hello without turning it into a whole production. I’m not wildly treat-obsessed, but I’ll take snacks gently—because manners matter. Most days, you’ll find me lounging near my people, soaking up the good life. But I also enjoy getting out and about, sniffing all the smells, seeing all the sights, and being part of whatever adventure you’re on. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing, car-loving best friend with a big heart and an even bigger presence… well, Bo—or "Rainbow"—might just be your guy. 💛 You like this dog...now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic.  Our adoption team will quickly contact you by phone or email (watch your spam please) to see if it's a match!.  If you are already approved to adopt, please contact your Adoption Counselor and they will help you set up a meeting.  You can also sponsor Rambo by clicking here. I’m a 5-1/2-month-old GSD pup, and am silky soft inside and out. I weight about 48 pounds now and will be an average sized GSD when I’m all grown up. I’m an affectionate girl and love cuddles and snuggles. I’m quite the smarty pants and already know how to use the dog door and to go potty outside. I use a crate without a fuss and enjoy a good stuffed Kong to keep me busy. Like most puppies my age, I will need my own things to chew on. I have a gentle personality and take corrections easily. Just show me the way and I’ll follow! I think toys are just fantastic! I play with them, toss them around and retrieve them. I’m treat motivated too. I am respectful when meeting other dogs and I really enjoy playing with them. I would love a dog sibling to do fun stuff with…or at least some regular canine playmates. I’m doing great on leash and think walks are fun, fun, fun…especially when we have time to stroll and sniff. I follow my peeps around in the house and don’t ever want to be too far from them or the action. Typical of us GSDs for sure. Of course I have lots to learn but what fun it will be to watch me blossom! My foster mom and dad are sure I’ll make a lovely family companion with consistent training and guidance. I’m ready for dog school! I think that would be so fun. I’ll be waiting in Livermore. Hope to meet you! You like this dog...now what? Adopted on 9/13/2022. Cash is a 8-9 month old GSD mix. He’s a perfectly compact 53 pounds and he loves dogs. Cash would be best suited to an active young household, with lots of adventures to look forward to. He loves to run, rough house and have a good time. He would love other dogs so playing is crucial. He may be too much for smaller children but teens or young adults would be fine.  THANK YOU ANDREA S for sponsoring Cash. He's a great pup and full of so many possibilities. Someone is going to be very lucky. Sponsor Cash by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Cash’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Cash thanks you! He absolutely loves to play with his foster sibling who matches him in size and play style. He has some very basic obedience down …. when he sees treats. But as a puppy, he will need the patience and guidance from someone who understand that puppies need work! He would greatly benefit from positive reinforcement only. Treats would be the way to go when training this boy on loose leash walking. He’s going to be a lot of fun, but much commitment must be given to him for structure, consistency and boundaries. He learns super fast. An adopter who can provide opportunities for play with a canine sibling or friends of similar energy and play style would be perfect; Cash’s social development would really benefit from this. Cash is super eager to please and he loves snuggles and sitting on your lap. And at times he has a lot of puppy energy! If you want a smart cuddle bug Cash may be for you. ADOPTED 6/27/26 Charlie is a very sweet and affectionate 5-6 year old dog, with a beautiful thick coat. His happy place is with his people, being included in whatever they are up to. He is currently on a weight loss journey, and his energy and zest for life increases with each pound lost. He has lived with kids, and big and small dogs before. Charlie has been welcoming and friendly towards all people coming in and out of his foster’s home. He’s a pretty quiet dog and has only barked a couple times total in his foster home. He gets along well with visiting dogs in the home, and is friendly but not over the top obsessed with them.   Despite his size, Charlie views himself as the ultimate lapdog. He loves to crawl into your lap for cuddles, and give you all the kisses you will accept. Feet hanging off the couch? Charlie will rub up against them and use them as a scratching post. He is the kind of silly, goofy dog that you just can’t help but love. He will use his paw to get attention, and not knowing his own size, caution needs to be taken around young kids. Charlie has met a 13 month old baby and just wanted to lick her hands and feet, but it would be better if his home had slightly older children. Charlie knows his name and has great house manners. He is not an inappropriate chewer and has not gotten into anything he shouldn’t. He sleeps well at night on his dog bed in his foster mom’s room, but he could likely sleep anywhere and be fine. Charlie rides well in the car and will wait patiently in it while his foster mom quickly runs an errand.  Charlie continues to work on obedience. He knows sit, down, stay, no, and “go to bed”. He has a very gentle mouth when taking treats and when playing with his people. He loves a good game of tug and when he wins, he’ll take his prize to his dog bed to chew on for a while. Charlie is such a fun dog to play in the backyard with - you can easily entice him into a game of tag, and when you catch him he’ll roll over for some belly rubs.  Charlie is at the best age where he loves to snooze on the couch with you, but is also ready for daily walks and playing in the backyard. As you can see from his pictures, he does have some shaved parts on his neck due to a previous injury. It’s completely healed now, but we walk him with a harness to not irritate the site. He still pulls a little when walking through the neighborhood, but he has already improved a lot.  Charlie has a great sense of smell. In public places, he sometimes forgets his manners and is ruled by following his nose. He is a strong boy when trying to get somewhere, so we are working on his leash manners and attentiveness in public, but it is a process that will need follow-through with his forever family.  Charlie is a great dog with a fantastic and fun personality. He brings so much joy to his foster family and will make an amazing addition to anyone’s family!  You like this dog...now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic.  Our adoption team will quickly contact you by phone or email (watch your spam please) to see if it's a match!.  If you are already approved to adopt, please contact your Adoption Counselor and they will help you set up a meeting.  You can also sponsor Charlie by clicking here. Adopted 10/20/2022. Hi I'm Coco. The people who are caring for me think I am probably between 4 and 5 months old . I still have my beautiful little baby teeth and my oh so soft thick puppy fur.  My friends from BAGSR guessed I might closer to 14-16 weeks.  They think my coat will be thick and full as an adult and my ears are like a magical stuffed animal. I am CUTE!! Sponsor Coco by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Coco’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Coco thanks you! My first family was unable to keep me and a nice lady stepped in to help me on my way then found the family who agreed to care for me until my FOREVER family is found. WOW that's a lot of changes for a puppy and I have some catching up to do.   I like other dogs and am living with a Bichon puppy who I love to play with. Bichons have bones like little birds though and I can be a rough and tumble player so pairing me with someone closer to my size and energy levels would be great.  I like people and I am super trusting of my foster family. I will tuck myself under my foster dad's legs if I am worried and if he sits in the chair I like to sit underneath and peek out until I know it's all good. I am pretty good on the leash as I really want to be with my foster dad and I actually get excited when the postal person comes- I approach with a loose body and tail wagging.   Now here is the part my new friends at BAGSR want you to know.  I am unsure of new things. I am a little worried about new people and may tuck away . If someone does not take their time to win my trust it worries me and my new family will need to give me space to make choices.  Puppies who have some timid tendencies must not be pushed or bribed ot come closer than is comfortable.  Slow steady socialization helps dogs to trust their environment and their people.   Like all puppies I will need to learn about being in the house and riding in the car.  I am so adorable that everyone will want me and many people will want to run up to pet me . My new family will have to be good advocates who can create safe boundaries for me so that I don't feel a need to protect myself.   If you have experience with shy dogs and are looking for a stunning , fluffy, package of  puppy ,please apply online and let's talk.    I'll be waiting with my caretakers in Union City You like this dog...now what? Cyrus thanks you! I look just like a regular GSD except I have one floppy ear. My new friends think that makes me super cute! I’m not a big boy-I weigh about 55 pounds and I’m just right. I am very friendly with people and was a stellar patient at the dog doc.  I love to play with other dogs and would enjoy living with another playful pup. I also get along well with cats. Even though I’m just a puppy, I know a lot of tricks and most of the basics including walking nicely on leash. I learned to use the dog door at my foster home the same day I got there. I also know to go potty outside. I have nice house manners and sleep quietly through the night. Adopted on 8/4/2022.  Hi! I’m Genevieve. That’s a pretty big name for a pup like me so my foster mom just calls me "Geni". I’m a five month old girl GSD. I’m a sweet and silly blank slate just chomping at the bit to learn. Sponsor Genevieve by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Genevieve’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Genevieve thanks you! Of course I’m smart and am quite a good student too. In my foster home we’re working on the basics and getting used to indoor living. I’m actually pretty good on leash already and will surely be a lovely walking partner. I’m getting the hang of things quickly.  I rode quietly in a crate to my foster home and am quickly learning the rules of the household. I do great in my crate during the night. I also easily allow all over handling; I don't mind my ears cleaned, my nails trimmed or even a bath. I’m very respectful with the resident dog and the parrot at my foster home. I met a cat today and didn’t try to chase. Did I mention I walk beautifully on leash? I’ll be super fun to train since I’m treat motivated and quite bright. I really love to use my nose so when I get a little older, I may enjoy scent work of some sort.  I have medium energy for a girl my age. I'm very adaptable and easy going. Whatever you're doing, I will happily do right along with you-sitting out in the yard, going for a walk, taking a ride in the car...I'm totally game. I love to chill with my foster mom while she's working in her office. I'm very well mannered when I go out and about and I meet new friends calmly. I'll even wait patiently if we're out for a walk and you want to stop to chat with friends. If your friends have a dog or two, I'll greet them polietly too. My house manners are also terrific for a pup my age.  Something you should know about me is that I learned to use the dog doors in about 5 seconds flat-yard to garage and garage to house...just like that!  Actually my foster mom was trying to hide them from me but I figured them out anyway. My foster family says that I am a sweet, sweet girl. I love to snuggle and will climb up in your lap for a nap.  If you'd like to meet me, I’ll be waiting with my foster fam in Sacramento. Sponsor Gidget by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Gidget’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Gidget thanks you! She was found as a stray and BAGSR got her out of the shelter and into a foster home where she enjoys getting attention from her foster parents and she's having a lot of fun playing with her dog siblings. It takes a little bit of time for her to trust a new person but once she does she's very affectionate. She's housebroken and crate trained, and sleeps quietly in her crate all night. She's great in the car and she loves going on walks/hikes. Everything seems a bit new to her, so she still needs work on her leash skills when she's out and about, but she's getting a lot better every time, and she checks in with her handler when she needs some guidance. She met the resident cat, and although she seems workable with cats any potential adopters with cats should know that it will require some time and patience to make that work since she does find cats quite exciting. She's eager to please and loves food and treats, so positive reinforcement training would be great for her. She loves running and jumping so maybe agility training would be a good fit? Hi there — I’m Herbie, and if you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, fun-loving guy with just the right amount of Malinois spirit… you might want to keep reading. 🐾 I’m 60 pounds of handsome, healthy goodness, and I’m basically in my young athlete discovering life is awesome phase. I absolutely love people — strangers included — and I’m always happy to say hello and lean in for affection. Honestly, being close to my humans is one of my favorite hobbies. I walk nicely on leash, ride great in the car, and I’ve done well in small playgroups. I haven’t shown any issues with smaller dogs so far, though I haven’t met cats yet. After being a bit sedentary for the last month or so, my stamina is still building back up, but I’m excited to get moving again and would love a person who wants a buddy for outings, training, and adventures. Now let’s talk about the important stuff: toys. Fetch? Eh… I’ll humor you. Frisbee? Okay, that’s more interesting. Tug? YES PLEASE. The first time I grabbed a tug toy, I took off shaking it like I had just won the championship. I love tug and really come alive during play. The flirt pole is my absolute jam — I get serious airtime and show off some impressive athletic moves. I also seem to think water fountains are personal splash zones, so water fun might be in my future too. I’m not a “go-go-go 24/7” kind of Malinois, but I do have drive and enthusiasm, especially when toys and training are involved. I learn quickly, I’m food motivated, and I genuinely enjoy working with my person. Because of that, I’d do best with an adopter who has experience with Malinois, German Shepherds, or similar working breeds — not necessarily a pro trainer, but someone who understands active, smart dogs and wants to continue guiding me. I can get a little jumpy and occasionally mouthy when excited (hey, I’m young!), so any home with kids would need thoughtful discussion and supervision while I keep learning my manners. What you get with me is a really lovely balance: affectionate companion ✔️ fun training partner ✔️ playful athlete ✔️ genuinely sweet soul ✔️ I’m a great dog looking for someone ready to help me grow into the amazing partner I’m meant to be. So… got a tug toy and a spot next to you? I’m ready when you are. 🐕‍🦺💛 You like this dog...now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at:  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/42179/generic.  Our adoption team will quickly contact you by phone or email (watch your spam please) to see if it's a match!.  If you are already approved to adopt, please contact your Adoption Counselor and they will help you set up a meeting.  You can also sponsor Herbie by clicking here. Joey thanks you! Hi! I’m Joey. I’m a 6 month old boy GSD mix. I‘ll probably end up sort of big; there is a bit of Great Dane in my DNA. Check out my cool looking curly coat too!  I’m a sweet, friendly boy who will need an adopter who will spend time teaching me things and bringing me out and about to meet new people and experience new things. I can be rather silly and love to play in the water. I also enjoy playing and hanging out with other dogs. I currently live with another dog and we have a good time together. I have medium energy for a pup my age. I love squeaky toys and all kinds of chew toys. I would also be great at scent work and have a nice sized snout for that kind of thing-haha! Dog school would be great for me. I would learn so much in a group with other dogs and people. I am treat motivated! I keep a close eye on my people and I come when I'm called. I'm pretty good on leash too. I am fine in a crate and I also know to go potty outside. I have nice house manners and sleep free in the bedroom with my foster mom. Fun fact: I love a good belly rub and will try to sneak in bed with you for a cozy night’s sleep. I do well in the car too which is lucky since I will benefit from an active adopter who will show me new sights, introduce me to new people, and generally just share with me lots of fun adventures. I also will wait patiently in the car (weather permitting of course) if you have to run into a store. My foster mom thinks I am just amazing! She thinks I'm so special and unique and that someone will be very lucky to make me part of their family.  I hope you’d like to meet me! I’ll be waiting with my foster family in Oakland. Kassie thanks you! Hi! I’m Kassie. I’m a healthy, fit, 6 year old GSD and I‘m a petite 55 pounds. I am a sweet, elegant lady with one cute, floppy tipped ear. As is expected of us GSDs, I am aware of my surroundings and am very bright. I know lots of obedience and tricks. I’m treat motivated and would love to learn even more. I'm friendly, have an easy and generally calm demeanor, and have beautiful house manners too. I stay off the furniture and don’t take things that aren’t mine. Some of my favorite things to play with are balls and squeaky toys. I still get amped up when I see dogs when I’m out and about on leash but lots of leash walks and practice with a committed adopter will help me learn to consistently use good manners on leash. I'll need a new family who has experience with us GSDs and who will work with me on this.  I enjoy going to play groups and do great with other dogs. I haven’t met any cats but do like to chase squirrels. I will alarm bark when someone comes to the house but calm down quickly when I know the visitors are friends. I used to live in a home with toddlers and was gentle and kind. I love structure and like to know how the day is going to go so routine oriented people will be just right for me. I will make a lovely companion. I hope you’d like to meet me! I'll be waiting with my awesome foster fam in Grass Valley.   You like this dog...now what? Adopted on 7/10/2022. Hello! My name is Lassen.  I have a thick fluffy red and black coat, and I weigh about 75 lbs.  I don’t actually know my exact age, but my vet says she thinks I’m about 5.   Sponsor Lassen by clicking here, Your name will appear on this page as Lassen’s sponsor and your donation will help pay for food and medical expenses. Lassen thanks you! Hello! My name is Lassen.  I have a thick fluffy red and black coat, and I weigh about 75 lbs.  I don’t actually know my exact age, but my vet says she thinks I’m about 5.   Everyone says I’m handsome even though I’m pretty stocky, and I have kind of a short and stubby nose.  I know from my pictures my eyes may look kind of sad to you, but believe me I’m really a very happy guy at heart!  I’m just a lot more low key than most German Shepherds.  So everyone who meets me says I’m just a “chill dude”, which is true! When I first came to my foster home, I was still pretty stressed out from the shelter. I also had some pretty bad seasonal allergies and a few other minor nasty health bugs.  But thanks to my foster family and my vet getting me on the right medications, I’m feeling a lot better now.  While I’m not a super active guy, I do like to play with people and other dogs.  But because I’m used to being the top dog around, I get along much better with female dogs than males.  So if you already have a younger (or older) female dog who needs a packmate, I could be your guy!  But I would also be happy being an only dog for the right person.  I’m not sure if I could live with a cat, but I have gotten along with some of the smaller dogs I’ve met with no problems. I haven’t had a lot of formal training, but I’m really good with basic stuff like come, sit down, and stay.  And I don’t mean to brag, but I’m about as easy a dog as you’ll meet when it comes to walking on a leash.  In fact, I really like getting out for a walk every day.  I mean, I may be low key, but I’m not lazy!  By the way, I’m also mostly housebroken and will let you know when I need to go out for a potty break.  But it’s a good idea to let me out frequently after meals and naps so I don’t have an accident.  Speaking of going out, I love being in the house with my people most of the time. But if you like hanging out in your yard sometimes, I’m there!  I also really like riding in the car, even if it’s just going out running errands.  Because I’m such a calm low key guy, you can pretty much take me with you out to any public place.  I am fully crate trained and enjoy having my quiet private time there.  My foster family even feeds me in my crate, which is pretty cool!  I also like hanging out in the evenings on a dog bed if you’re relaxing or watching TV.  And if you work from home, don’t be surprised if you find me snoozing under your desk during the day.  That’s just because I like to be close to my people whenever I can! So if you’re looking for a big hearty guy who is handsome and smart, but also a super laid back dude, check me out.  If you think I could be a good fit for you and your family, let the nice people a BAGSR know and they will set up a meet and greet for you. I’ll be waiting with my foster family in Folsom. You like this dog...now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at https://www.bayareagsr.org/adopt/3-adoption-application.
