You found the PNW’s best Rescue!  Ya, we know, bragging isn’t a good look, but we know you have lots of choices out there and we want you to know why we truly believe that you will have the best experience with us.   First, where do our dogs come from? Most of them are from Texas, though we also help our local community when we can. Texas is the number one kill state in the nation. We are a pregnant dog and puppy rescue and we pull our dogs from high kill shelters or directly off the streets of Texas. So no, we aren’t breeding these dogs and you can feel good about literally saving a life while still adopting a puppy. You are our heroes! Now, what makes us different?  We take this Rescue business seriously, we operate as a business, not a hobby.  We measure every decision by our Core Values of Transparency, Integrity, Golden Rule and Community.  We believe that choosing the right dog for your family will prevent many future problems and our Matchmakers are hella good at what they do.  We back our dogs and our adoptive families for life. We provide post adoption support, resources and community.  If your life changes and you can no longer care for your dog, he is always welcome back and in fact, we require it.   We believe in the power of training, so much that we will refund you $100 of your Adoption Donation if you attend.  Is this dog the right one for you?  We don’t know yet! But we are gonna help you find out.   Yes, we are going to make you fill out a long and obnoxious application.  But guess what?  No more praying to the internet gods for a reply back.  Every application gets a response within 7 days, good or bad.  You will be assigned your own personal Matchmaker that will walk you through the entire process, find out what you are looking for in a dog and help guide you to your new best friend. Maybe it’s this pup or maybe not - we will be honest and help direct you to the right dog for your family.  Every applicant will have an In Home Trial with their dog before they ever have to commit to an adoption to make sure your Match fits perfectly into your Pack.  Now let’s get started with filling out that long and obnoxious application! You don’t need to know which dog you are interested in to apply, we are excited to get to know you and your family and guide you through this exciting process of finding your new Pack Member! show less

NEW PUP!   Introducing: Ganges 5 week old Female   Did you see the LIVE video yesterday? 💜🐾💚🐾 Mama River and her sweet gang of 9 puppies arrived at Path of Hope yesterday. They came to us from another local rescue who pulled them from a reservation in Idaho. Higher Ground Animal Sanctuary / Inland Northwest Animal Sanctuary reached out and asked us if we could help these adorable pups and their adorable Mom find their forever homes and we were able to say YES. By saying YES, it helped free up more space in their program so they can help save more dogs.  We are just getting to know these sweet pups and mama River so stay tuned for more.  We are estimating their birthdate as 3/16/23 and their breed is Pit/Cattle Dog Mix. In the meantime let’s Welcome River, Ganges, Columbia, Amazon, Missouri, Mississippi, Tigris, Thames, Hudson and Nile to the PHR family.  If you are interested in adopting any of these cuties, get your application in! They won't be able to go home until they are spayed/neutered and will stay with Mom until they are 8 weeks old, so we won't start matching them until 4/27.   Hi, I’m Wanda. Sociable and diplomatic, gets on well with anyone. A sweet and snuggly gal that will warm up the best spot on the couch for you! Here are some fun facts about me: Age: 4 months old Estimated Size: 20 lbs  Breed: American Staffordshire mix M Describe yourself in 3 words: Sweet, smart, confident Faves: I love to play and to snuggle with the humans. Nothing makes me happier than laying in the humans’ lap and showering them with kisses. Secret skills:  I get on well with the other dogs in my foster home but I’m not afraid to let them know when I’ve had enough, so I like to think of myself as a diplomatic and confident communicator. I’ve also been doing well in my crate and potty training.    Dream forever family: I’m ready to shower love on a furever family who’s looking for a sweet and confident little furbaby.   Backstory: I arrived in Spokane from Texas via a Flight Angel and Southwest Airlines SWATT program. Me and my brother Cosmo were found wrapped in a sheet next to a dumpster by a Walgreens store. It’s hard to think about that and what could have happened if we’d not been found. But thankfully I’ve been living with a foster family since then who has helped me with my training and taught me what family life can be like. Hi, I’m Booyah! Here are some fun facts about me: Breed: Heeler Mix Describe yourself in 3 words: Friendly, Playful, Affectionate Faves: Cuddles, toys, playing… and treats! Secret skills: I’m sociable and get on great with other dogs, strangers… and even the squirrels! I’m an active pup - but don’t worry about keeping me entertained. Just give me a toy or two and I’ll keep myself busy!  Dream forever family: After being in an overcrowded dog facility, I’m used to lots of hustle and bustle so I am definitely a pup that likes to have company. I’d therefore thrive in a home where I’d have a fur sibling and where my pet parents work from home so that I know I will always have company.  Backstory: I’m one of the “Flown in Friends”, a group of pups that made their way from Texas to Spokane via airplane. We were rescued from the euthanasia list of an overcrowded animal control in Texas, and are now settling into life on the West Coast. I can’t wait to meet my furever family so I can explore my new home state with them. If I was a movie character I’d be… Flounder from the Little Mermaid. I am a loyal and playful friend that will stick by your side. And if you’re having a bad day, my entertaining moves around the garden and playing in the water will definitely bring a smile to your face!    Petfinder only allows one video upload, want to see more videos of this adoptable dog? Hi, I’m Nat King Cole - but you can call me Nat!   Apple & Dog Park Enthusiast looking for furever coffee date.   Here are some fun facts about me: Age: 4 months Estimated Size: 12 lbs  Breed: American cattle dog / staffie mix Describe yourself in 3 words: Loving, Playful, Smart Faves: I love going to the dog park so I can explore and sniff new smells! I also really like apples- they are so delicious, yum! I found where my foster family keep the apples… so I may have helped myself to an extra one or two (but shh, don’t tell anyone).  Secret skills: I like to make the hoomans laugh and do funny things to keep them entertained.  When I’m happy, I wiggle my butt, and I like to use my paws to “wave” at them. I’m smart too -  learned how to use the dog door and the stairs! Dream forever family: I get on so well with all the older kiddos and am a great travel companion so would fit in well with any family. I am still very young so, like all pups, will need a family that can help me continue to learn about the world around me. But don’t worry - my love of apples and hoomans means that it’s easy to keep me motivated in my training! In return, I will give you so many cuddles and be the bestest boy you could ask for!   Backstory: My siblings and I were rescued after being found under a house in Texas. Things were so bleak that we were living off carcasses to survive. Because of that, some of my siblings got really sick and two of them died. When they were rescued, we had no idea what was happening to us - we were all just so terrified that we screamed when we were touched. I’m so glad that we have been living with our kind foster family, including the resident dog, who has been showing us the ropes. I know that I will love living with my forever family and am so excited to start a new life with them.       Petfinder only allows one video upload, want to see more videos of this adoptable dog? Meaning “to protect or guard”, the Jungle Book litter’s momma, Raksha, is as good of a mother as her name suggests.  Raksha is a 42lb hound mix estimated to be 3-4 years old. Her main loves in life are cuddling with hoomans (ALL of them, all of the time) and chewing on her toys. She currently lives in a home with many other animals including big and small dogs, cats, and a variety of reptiles. While she enjoys the companionship of other dogs, any new canine family members should be confident, well-balanced mentors that can help teach her how to relax and have some fun in her forever home! Raksha is a very sweet, low energy girl who just wants to be loved and give some (okay, a lot) in return. Throw in a couple of chew toys and a belly rub, this momma is set for the long haul! Raksha has tested positive for heartworm disease but will be beginning treatment as soon as her puppies turn 8 weeks old. Treatment is provided by the Rescue at no cost to her forever family along with free, monthly heartworm testing. Heartworm is not a deadly disease when caught early and treated. It can easily be averted by keeping your dog on a low-cost monthly preventative. If you have ANY questions about heartworm disease and what adopting a dog with a positive test means, please reach out to us, visit our website for more information, or check out this link for the most common heartworm FAQs: https://docs.google.com/.../11jQOolb0od0wpGorLZBA.../edit...! If Raksha seems like the match for you, fill out an app for her today! All dogs in the care of Path of Hope Rescue either have or will be spayed or neutered. Additionally, each animal has received age appropriate vaccines, dewormer, and monthly heartworm prevention. show less

Hi, I’m Billie! Here are some fun facts about me: Age: 3 years old Estimated Size: 40 lbs  Breed: Pittie/ Cattle dog mix   Describe yourself in 3 words: Sweet, affectionate, loving Faves: I love hoomans! I just love being close to them! Secret skills: Because I love hoomans so much, I just want to make sure they stay happy and I am eager to please so I do well in my training. I am an independent lady who can sleep through the night and be left by myself so you don’t need to worry about me being too clingy.  Dream forever family: I’d like a family that will show me kindness and take care of me. I am a little nervous with other dogs to begin with, but with the love of a forever family that will help me build my confidence, I think that I will be fine to live with other dogs. The main thing is that I am with a family that will make me feel safe and loved.  Heartworm can be a deadly disease if left untreated, but PHR covers all of the cost of treatment and walks with you through the process.  PHR is currently running a heartworm study, therefore all heartworm positive dogs must be adopted locally to stay enrolled in the study, or be willing to travel to Spokane once a month.   Backstory: I was found under a house in Texas with my litter of pups where we had to live off carcasses just to survive. The conditions were so terrible that some of my babies became extremely sick. Sadly, two of them died. When we were rescued, we had no idea what was happening to us - my babies thought we were in danger and were so scared that they all screamed in terror. I’m sure you can imagine how awful that was for me as their mother, to hear my little ones so terrified. When we got to spokane the doctors found a bullet in me when they were doing my spay. I don’t remember how it got there but I’m so glad that me and my pups have been brought to Spokane where we all now live with foster families who are showing us care and kindness. With my pups all finding their own homes, I’m looking forward to finding a furever family of my own so I can really begin my new life. But my absolute FAVORITE thing to do is snuggle on the couch with the hoomans. Secret skills: I love playing with the other dogs even with the bigger ones who want to do a bit of rough housing - nothing gets in my way of playtime. I’ve also learned some neat tricks - like sitting at the door to be let inside and coming out of my pen to get my food. Dream forever family:  A home with another dog that I can play with would be ideal. I’d love to live with an affectionate family that wants to add a new playful companion to their pack.    If I was a hooman I’d be: Dottie from a League of their Own - I’m playful and love team sports with the other pups - and very loyal to my hoomans.     Backstory: I was born in a crack house in Texas where my siblings and I were separated from our mom as her owners would not surrender her. Hi, I’m Goat! Aspiring artist looking for furever family! Offers Goat yoga & paw paintings in exchange of furever home accommodations.     Here are some fun facts about me: Age: 20 weeks old Estimated Size: 26 lbs  Breed: Pittie mix Describe yourself in 3 words: Gentle, Sweet and Well-Behaved Faves: I like to snuggle and sleep under the covers. Secret skills: I love meeting new people and letting them hold me - being with hoomans is so much fun! I’m great with toddlers and I like to play with other dogs, even when they are much bigger than me. Dream forever family: I’m such a good girl that I will settle well into any family. Like all pups, I’m still learning about the world, so I would like a family that will be affectionate and give me snuggles, while helping me build my confidence as I grow into an adult doggy. I would love if you have a kid or two for me to spend time with and maybe a dog that I can play with. As long as I get snuggles, I’m your girl!    Backstory: I was on the January Transport from Texas with the other 48 pups. I am part of the Old MacDonalds Farm litter. We don't have a mom but we had each other and now an amazing foster family.    —————   **This dog is located in a foster home in the Spokane, WA area.
