Meet Winston, an adorable, loving little doxie-lab mix looking for a fun forever family! Winston came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Winston's foster family reports that he is pretty laid back, and is quite the snuggle bug! Winston enjoys a walk, but he doesn't insist on them. All things considered, he'd rather be on the couch with his human friends. He does have a playful side, and loves his toys. Winston is good at entertaining himself with his toys if his people or his canine buddies aren't available to hang out. Winston's foster family also reports that he has never barked or cried, even when the family's other dogs are barking. He is great on car rides and will just curl up and take a nap. Winston is very smart, and at approximately 1 year old as of January 2017, he is the perfect age to start some training with his new family. He is smart and food motivated, so training with Winston should be easy and fun. Winston is house trained and crate trained, and weighs in at a perfect 20 pounds. If you would like to meet Winston, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Looking for an awesome wingman? Meet Maverick! Maverick is a playful little corgi-spaniel mix who came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. This little bundle of fun is ready for any adventure. He is friendly with new people and likes to meet new dogs. He is also toy oriented, and can entertain himself chewing on bones or playing with his toys. He really loves interactive play with his people though. He loves a good game of tug and especially loves to play keep away. Maverick has been known to get the "zoomies" when he gets excited! He definitely has some serious joie de vivre! When it's time to settle down, Maverick knows how to unwind. He's relaxed at home, and has no problem chilling out while his people do their thing. He can also be quite the cuddle bug, and enjoys a good snuggle with his human pals. According to his foster family, Maverick loves to give kisses and receive belly rubs. Maverick will be a perfect addition to an active and loving family. Maverick is approximately one year old as of January 2016, and weighs in at around 20 pounds. Maverick is house trained and crate trained, and he is good with kids, cats, and other dogs. He would love to continue his basic training with his new family. If you would like to meet Maverick, please fill out an adoption application on TRD's website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Sweet Mousey is a great example of amazing, resilient puppy spirit. Mousey was dumped in a box on the doorstep of one of our fellow rescuers. She had a grossly infected eye and clearly had been neglected. Mousey was emaciated and had some issues with her skin. Our rescuer friend rushed Mousey to her local vet, and it was determined that the infected eye needed to be removed. With Mousey around 2 pounds, 4 months old (as of January 2016), and malnourished, surgery was a risky proposition for this pint-sized sweetie. Thankfully Mousey pulled through the surgery, and we are happy to report that she has made a full recovery. Mousey has bounced back, and has proven to be the happiest puppy you'd ever want to meet. Mousey's foster mom reports that she is an excellent cuddler. Mousey also loves romping around in the yard with her canine foster siblings, then taking a break to do a little sunbathing. Mousey enjoys car rides and is ready to be a go-anywhere kind of girl. Mousey's foster mom also reports that she is as quiet as a mouse, and the only time she makes a fuss is when she needs to go out to go potty. Mousey is a really smart little girl and she will be fun and easy to train. We think she will stay pretty petite, maybe growing into the 6 to 10 pound range as an adult. If you would like to give Mousey the happy ending she deserves, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet-up! show less

Meet Tiny, a totally adorable Shih Tzu-chihuahua mix looking for her forever family. What Tiny lacks in stature she makes up for with her huge personality. Tiny loves to play with other puppies her size. She also enjoys running around in the yard and then settling down for a little sunbathing. When outside time is done, Tiny loves to snuggle with her human friends, and has been known to fall asleep on her people's chests or necks. Her cuddling style is adorable and irresistible. Tiny was born on 8/2/2016, and at 5 months old, Tiny weighs a micro 3 lbs. We think she may top out at around 7 pounds. She will be a very small adult dog! Adopters will need to take her diminutive size into consideration when deciding whether Tiny is the right canine companion for them. Tiny is also a little fearful of this great big world and does much better when she's in the companionship of a confident dog. She currently does best when she's with her buddy BamBam (also available for adoption from TRD). We would like to place Tiny with a family that either would adopt Tiny and BamBam together or has an existing canine family member who would boost Tiny's confidence. Tiny is still working on potty training, basic commands, and recall. Given her size and age, Tiny is kept in a puppy playpen instead of a crate. If you would like to meet Tiny, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Sweet Daisy, a basset hound mix, came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County as an owner surrender. She was a 24/7 yard dog and found herself (probably bored) continually escaping. The family decided they no longer wanted to pay the impound fees and left her at the shelter. Shortly after Daisy was placed her foster home, we discovered she had heartworm disease! We would like to think she kept escaping knowing she could find the love and care she deserved and needed. Daisy was put on crate rest and spent about 4 months undergoing intense treatments which unfortunately included strict rest for the entire time. Daisy now has a clean bill of health and is ready to find her perfect forever home. Daisy loves getting belly rubs and being close to her humans. At approximately 3-4 years old Daisy has a medium energy level and loves a good run at Fiesta Island- she is low and fast! She's a compact 30 lbs of love. We are recommending a house without cats for Daisy but would love to see her in a house with a canine companion. Daisy was never provided the opportunity to socialize with her fellow canines (besides the one she lived with in the backyard all her life) so she can be reserved when meeting new dogs and will need someone willing to be patient with her to help continue to build her confidence and social skills. There are plenty of dogs Daisy has met and loved and she'll run, play and chase with the best of them! Daisy currently lives with another dog and two kids in her foster home and really enjoys their active lifestyle. She's always ready for a walk, car ride or any outing; wanting to be a full member of the family now. Daisy's foster family says she's a perfect house dog when her people are out and is fully potty trained. If you would like to make Daisy a part of your family, please fill out an application to meet her! http://therescueddog.org/2015/dog-adoption-application/ Adult, Female, Medium show less

Meet fun and spunky Bella, a shepherd mix who came to The Rescued Dog from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Bella is a great dog in a fun, mid-sized package. At about 30 pounds at about 10 months old (as of December 2016), Bella is a great medium size and will not grow too much more. Bella is also extremely smart and loves learning new commands. She already has "Sit", "Come", "Down", and "Place" under her belt and she's ready and willing to learn more! Bella enjoys a good walk, and is working on mastering her leash skills. She still pulls a little when she's excited. She's up for any adventure though, and would be a great buddy to take on walks, hikes, and runs. Bella's foster family reports that she is energetic and playful, and a lot of fun. Bella has a sweet and affectionate side too, and loves to snuggle with her people. Bella is crate trained and has pretty much mastered her house training. She would love to be part of a family that includes her in everything! She is a fun and social girl. If you would like to meet Bella, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Are you looking for a ridiculously cute lady to join you on life's adventures? Meet Pine! Pine is a wonderfully silly French bulldog-terrier mix. She has the spunky attitude of a Frenchie with scruffy fur of a terrier. Pine's foster family reports that she is a playful and energetic girl. She loves to spend time with her humans, but is also independent enough to entertain herself when her people are working around the house. Pine loves to sunbathe in the yard and play independently with her toys. Pine is the perfect mix of snuggly, sweet, and independent. She will make a great, engaging companion for her forever family. Pine was new to the leash when she came to TRD, and is currently working on her leash manners. She is very excited to get out for walks and meet new friends. Pine is a quick learner so with a little training, she will get the hang of how to behave well on leash quickly. Pine is 1 year old as of December 2016, and weighs in at a perfect 25 pounds. If you would like to meet Pine, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Giselle was named for her graceful gait and her pretty profile. Giselle is a spritely, sporty girl who will be a lot of fun for an active and loving family. This beauty came to The Rescued Dog from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Giselle is very loving and loyal with people, but she seems to be a little inexperienced in the ways of the world. She will need a confident human pack leader and would benefit greatly from an equally confident canine sibling. Giselle is very social and smart, and would make a great second (or third, or fourth) dog. She gets along great with other dogs and is also very affectionate with people, including children, once she gets to know them. Giselle is just now learning what a leash is, and how to walk properly with her pack. Giselle is a fast learner and seems to be catching on quickly to that concept, as well as basic commands. She will be fun to train! At 1 year old as of December 2016, Giselle is full grown at around 35 pounds. She is the perfect size for most living situations. Giselle is house trained and crate trained, and ready to start a new life with her forever family. If you are interested in meeting Giselle, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Adorable Lucy has had a rough start but we have high hopes for her future! Lucy and her litter mate Ethel were found at around 10 weeks old trapped under a trailer house, with no sign of either their mom or any other litter mates. A good Samaritan rescued them and asked us to make these two adorable sisters TRD dogs. How could we refuse? These adorable girls are fun, interactive, and super cute. Lucy has a sweet and mellow demeanor. She gets along great with other dogs, cats, and humans, including children. Lucy likes having another dog around, but would probably be OK as an only dog as long as she gets a lot of social time. Lucy has a beautiful and unique scruffy merle coat. At around 4 months old, Lucy weighs about 8 pounds. We think she will be around 15-20 pounds when she is full grown. If you would like to meet Lucy, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Attention Weenie lovers!! Meet marvelous Murphy, an adorable standard sized dachshund looking for a real forever family! Even at his young age of one year old, Murphy has been rehomed a few times through no fault of his own. He started with a military family who gave him up when they were deployed, and Murphy has since been rehomed three times within the military community. One of our fellow rescuers spotted Murphy on a message board for military families and decided it was time for Murphy to try a new route for finding his forever family. Murph is a very typical doxie, so we are looking for an adopter with experience with the breed. He barks to alert something is wrong, and loves to dig and chase. Murphy is curious, friendly, and spunky. A home with breed knowledge is a must so that his 5th home will be his forever home. Despite his inconsistent home life, Murph has a wonderful temperament, and is a very stable and happy guy. Murph needs some positive encouragement with his potty habits. He likes his privacy when he goes, most likely due to someone in his past disciplining him with a heavy hand during potty training. Murphy is a great little guy (about 23 pounds) with a huge heart. We are going to be picky about Murphy's final forever family! If you think that might be you, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Ready to spice up your life with a little Cinnamon? Cinnamon was one of seven puppies who came unexpectedly to TRD this October with her pregnant momma Sage. Sage is a beautiful beagle mix who weighs about 20 pounds, and we do not know anything about Cinnamon's dad. Cinnamon is pretty petite, especially compared to her litter mates, so we think she won't outgrow her mom. Cinnamon is the last of the "spice litter", and we think she's the cutest! Cinnamon is a sweet and calm girl. According to her foster mom, she is generally quieter than the rest of her pack. Don't take her quiet nature for granted though! She loves to climb tall pens and has been known to be quite the escape artist. She is very clever, and very food-motivated. She will be fun and easy to train. She is happy to play around with her litter mates and loves to antagonize the cats in her foster home. She will be easy to incorporate into a home with other pets. Although not huge into human kisses, Cinnamon is very loving and happy to be around her humans. She is a great little puppy with lots of potential. If you are interested in adopting Cinnamon, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

When The Rescued Dog rescued Sage in August 2016, we didn't know that we were actually rescuing Sage and her 7 puppies-to-be! That's right, this petite little beauty gave birth to 7 puppies in October 2016, in spite of being not much older than a puppy herself. She has been a great mom, and all of her adorable pups have been adopted, and now it's her turn! Sage is a little over a year old as of December 2016 and is ready for her second change at life with her new forever family. Sage is a little inexperienced in the ways of the world, but she is a naturally fun and affectionate little girl. She is not shy about asking for belly rubs and kisses. She has a sweet temperament and gets along great with dogs, cats, and humans, including children. Sage has had just a little training since she came to TRD, and she would love to continue learning how to sit, heel, and do other tricks and behaviors. Sage is a great petite size at about 20 pounds. Are you looking to add a little flavor to your life? Fill out an adoption application to meet Sage! show less

Meet Kreacher, a ridiculously cute and confident pittie trapped in a Basset hound body. Kreacher's favorite activities include chasing around his long-legged canine foster brother, playing with toys (as in ALL the toys!), and, as his foster mom puts it, "singing the song of my Basset brethren". Kreacher also enjoys a good walk and shows signs of having nice leash manners with a little training. At 10 months old, Kreacher stilll displays a lot of puppy behaviors, some hilarious, and some that his new forever family will need to work on. Kreacher can be clingy with his people, and will need to learn not to try to dominate every dog he meets. He pairs well with submissive, fun-loving dogs but may be too much for more alpha-type dogs. Kreacher still jumps up on people in his enthusiasm to say hello, and he is a strong and squat 35 pounds, so he would probably not be the best fit for a household with smaller children. Kreacher is going to be a great match for someone who wants a spunky dog with a twinkle in his eye. Kreacher will be a fun dog to train, and his goofy looks paired with his silly antics will keep a smile on the face of all of his forever humans. If you would like to meet Kreacher, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

True to her name, Honey is as sweet as can be. This cool little lab/hound mix is sweetness and fun all in one. Honey came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. She is about 8 months old as of October 2016, and weighs in at 38 pounds. She may grow a little more before she reaches her full size. Honey is extremely social with other dogs. She loves going to the dog park for a good romp. She also loves going out for walks so she can see her canine buddies. When she sees other dogs out on walks she pulls to greet them so she will need a little help with that. Honey is smart and responsive though, so training her to control her excitement, and do just about anything else, should be fun for her new family. Honey already knows "sit", "come", and "to your bed" (a very handy place command). She would love to learn more, and will thrive with a family who will continue her training. Honey is also a fan of her human friends. At home, she wants to be where her people are, and she is happy to meet new human friends, and share some snuggle time and kisses. Honey is crate trained and has almost mastered her house training. If you are looking for a fun, sweet, sporty girl to round out your pack, fill out an application to meet Honey! show less

A whole lotta awesome in a small package! Mr. Butters is a seven-year-old pug who still has a lot of life in him. He loves affection and playing fetch with his stuffed animals. For the most part he is a really easy-going, low-maintenance guy. At a recent adoption event Mr. Butters donned his Santa suit and relaxed with his human friends. He seemed to like the attention! He is good with cats and kids, but he is a little selective about his canine buddies. He came to TRD with a female pug, but he would be happy to be an only dog. Mr. Butters weighs about 22 pounds, making him a perfect lap dog. Pugs are tenacious, clever, and social dogs. If you are looking for a goofy, mellow companion, Mr. Butters may be the one for you!
