Our sweet Ocho is a gentle and loving soul looking for a fun and easygoing family to share his unconditional love with. Ocho's mom Tootsie came to TRD from Mexico, scared and very pregnant. Ocho and his 3 littermates were born in late February, and at 8 weeks old as of late April, are ready to move on to their forever homes. Ocho has a soft and fluffy coat, which make us suspect that his dad may have been some kind of spaniel. He is also already half the size of his 8-pound doxie/chi mom (!) so we believe that his dad was much bigger than his mom. We suspect that he will be in the 15-25 pound range full-grown, but you never do know with these mystery "designer dogs"! Ocho is a gentle and loving guy, and he loves his siblings. Ocho would be a great addition to a family who already has a dog, or he would do fine as an only dog as long as he gets lots of social time with other animals, and of course people. Are you looking for a sweet and affectionate puppy to join your pack? Please fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Ocho! show less

Attention husky lovers! We have a blue-eyed, young girl with a stunning red and white coat who is happy, medium energy and affectionate as can be waiting for a forever home. Just a bit over a year old, Kate absolutely loves going for long walks as many times as you’ll take her - typical of the hearty Siberian Husky breed. Yet as thrilled as she is to be off on another adventure, her foster dad says she is a great dog who calmly walks on leash. He says she is going to make her new owners look like pros. Kate loves meeting other dogs and really wants to play with them. She has not shown aggression towards any dog, cat or person she has met, and is somewhat submissive. However, she may be best with older children. A petite 40 lbs., Kate is full grown and very smart; she already knows stay and comes when called by name. She is not pushy or needy for affection but loves to be next to you and petted. She’s almost 100% house trained now, but needs to stay in her crate when left alone at home if she hasn't maxed out her energy-level for the day. If you would like to meet Kate, please visit our website and complete an application and we will get you set up to meet. show less

Susie Q, we love you! Sweet and adorable Susie came to TRD from Imperial County, where she was brought in as a stray. Susie has a great engaging personality with both humans and canines. She currently lives in a foster home with two other dogs and gets along well with everyone. Her foster family reports that she is also polite on the leash, and does well when encountering new dogs when she is out and about. Susie is about 1 year old as of March 2014, and is a great age to continue basic training. She already has good name recall, and she is crate trained and house trained. She still has a little frisky puppy energy left, and has been known to occasionally steal socks and other items (all in good fun!), so her forever family will have to be ready for a few typical puppy antics. Overall, though, Susie is just a love of a dog and will easily and happily assimilate into almost any living situation. Susie weighs in at about 40 pounds. If you are looking for an adorable, fun-loving sweetheart to join your family, please fill out an application to meet Susie! show less

Are you looking for a fun and spunky friend in a pint-sized package? Meet Blossom! Blossom, or Awesome Blossom as she is fondly referred to around TRD, is a cute and cuddly doxie-chihuahua mix looking for a fun and active forever family. Don't let the short legs fool you! Blossom has a lot of spunk and energy, and she is up for any adventure. She is playful with other dogs and also engages well with people she meets. She has been with children and cats and seems to do well with both. Blossom is fun and active, but when it's time to settle down, get ready to snuggle! She loves couch time with her human friends and will happily accept pets and kisses. She is a lover! Blossom is about 2 years old, which is a great age to start the rest of her life with her forever family. And at around 13 pounds, she is a great size for almost any living situation. Adorable little Ellie is a 3 month old puppy (as of mid-March) and she loves to play. While that may seem obvious because all puppies are playful and full of energy, she really takes it to another level! Her relentless attempts to jump at and climb the baby gate make her just irresistible to pick up and hold. Once you have her in your arms, her eyes light up with joy and she's so desperate to give you puppy kisses, she'll furiously start licking the air until you succumb to her charm. Hide your shoes from this girl because she loves pulling on shoe laces and enjoys barking at and pouncing on your beach sandals. She howls at emergency vehicle sirens just like her momma, Chella. Ellie is a perfect fit for anyone who wants a loving, loyal pup. Ellie was still a bun in the oven along with her sister Jewel and brother Nero when TRD rescued her sweet mom Chella from the shelter in Coachella. Ellie has a longer coat, and we suspect that she may be a spaniel mix (mom looks like a beagle-min pin mix). There is no way to know for sure, but we estimate that Ellie and her siblings will be in the 20-25 pound range when fully grown. Between her caring mom and and her wonderful foster, she's had a strong, healthy start to life. Ellie is now ready to find her forever home! “I so much want to be your friend” seems to be little Nya’s message to every person or dog she meets. This little puppy is so affectionate, loving and cute, her foster mom says everyone who meets her wants to take her home. Either in her foster home or out and about walking in her neighborhood, she totally melts hearts with her obvious happy interest in everyone she meets. At just 9 months old, Nya is fully grown and won’t get much bigger than 20 pounds Nya could be a lab/beagle mix - with maybe even some Italian Greyhound in there with her love of running and lean build, says her foster mom. She has energy and playfulness in abundance, and would be a great running or hiking buddy in addition to daily walks. She is very easy to train, is treat motivated, and already knows sit, no and comes when you call her by name. Yet with all that exuberance, Nya is also a true lap dog; and she doesn’t care who she snuggles up with. She cuddles gently and happily with the little boy she’s living with. She will also cuddle with either of her foster sibling dogs if she has the opportunity. Nya is good with kids (if not too rambunctious), and even cats. Nya is still working on house training, but is coming along well. Like most active and intelligent dogs, she needs lots of activity to ensure she doesn’t busy herself doing something you don’t want. Luckily, she’s almost crate trained - but would rather be out with people and dogs having fun! Do you think you might be the perfect forever family for adorable Nya. When TRD first rescued Clover from Devore in early March, she was a fearful and shut-down puppy. She would not let her foster family touch her and we were worried that her road to recovery would be a long one. Of course we were underestimating the strength of puppy resilience! Clover has grown confident in leaps and bounds in the last few weeks, and her true, funny, puppy personality is starting to shine. Clover's favorite form of exercise is a "wrestle-fest" with her foster pack. She is very dog-friendly and generally seems most comfortable around other confident dogs. This is true when she is out on pack walks. She is submissive on leash and walks behind everyone. She can still get skittish when encountering loud sounds, but she recovers quickly with some encouragement from her humans. Clover has turned into a very playful puppy. She loves to play fetch and has good recall. She is working on the "drop it" part of fetch, but will give up the ball freely. She also loves toys of all kinds. Once Clover bonds with her humans, she enjoys "talking" back when her humans speak to her. She has a lot of personality! Clover is still wary of new people, and will need to be introduced to new people quietly and slowly. She is still learning that humans are OK. TRD will include a training session on these introductions as part of Clover's adoption. Clover is about 28 pounds at 16 weeks old. We estimate that she will be about 50 to 60 pounds when she is full grown. Are you looking for a fun and spunky puppy to grow up with you and your family? Please fill out an application to meet Clover! show less

Calling all smush-face under-bite loving dog lovers! Meet Wednesday - this Puggle (Pug/Beagle) has a one of kind “muggle” with her adorable under bite and snaggle tooth! Wednesday broke her left rear leg a couple months ago and had it splinted. Her previous owners did not provide any follow up care to change the splint and weeks later brought her to the vet complaining of smelling rotting flesh! Wednesday developed gangrene of the leg and her owners could not/would not pay for the vetting, so Wednesday was left at the vet with an unknown future. Thankfully the wonderful vet provided the very best care and although she lost a toe, her leg (and life) was saved!! Wednesday now resides in a loving foster home with 2 kids (8 and 10) and one very old dog and has adjusted amazingly well! At approximately 8 months old, Wednesday is almost 100% potty trained, knows “sit”, and is very eager to learn. She is smart and is very food motivated –her foster mom says she is a breeze to train using treats! This girl is a goofy, fun loving puppy who enjoys lots of action and play along with social outings and walks. She goes everywhere with her foster family in order to continue to learn social behavior and confidence in all sorts of situations. Wednesday has a wonderful balance of energy and snuggle—she sleeps on her human kid’s bed at night and doesn’t make a peep for 10 hrs. She is curious and slightly cautious with new surroundings—however, she warms up very quickly to all people and loves a good belly rub. Her leash walking needs some fine tuning; like all puppies, she is sometimes overly curious and barks or pulls toward birds and other dogs. Wednesday has a wonderful demeanor and with continued training in a loving, active home she will grow to be an amazing canine best friend! Her foster family adores her and can’t say enough positive things about her—their general consensus? “Wednesday is such a great dog—easy, fun loving, smart, and ridiculously cute!” If you would like to meet her, please visit our website at www.TheRescuedDog.org and complete an application and we will get you set up for a playdate. show less

According to Otis's foster mom, Otis is all doxie--very people focused, a super snuggler, very social, and a go-anywhere kind of guy. He's also a "talker", although he's not overly barky. He does like to carry on "conversations" with his humans, which we definitely think is part of his charm! Otis currently lives with other dogs and loves to play with them. He is also great in the car and loves trips to the park. When Otis is out for a walk, sometimes he gets a little distracted by other dogs, but mostly he is just content to be with his humans. Otis would definitely prefer having company during the day, both in canine and human form. He's the kind of guy who thrives with human attention and canine companionship. Otis is quite a lovebug, and he gives great kisses and is a champion snuggler. Otis is about 2 years old and weighs in at 14 pounds. Tiny 3 lb Dolly is a six month old white & tan Chihuahua mix and everyone who meets her just melts over this little doll. Found as a stray in San Bernardino County, this little puppy is blossoming in her safe new foster home. Initially afraid of most everything and only wanting to be carried close and safe in the arms of her foster family members, Dolly is now finding new confidence to independently explore this big world. While her favorite activity is still following her foster mom around like a shadow, with her tail always wagging, she is becoming more and more playful, is discovering what she can do with dog toys and is now quite happy going on her daily leash walks. Dolly is living with another older dog who is well trained and is a TRD dog too - Donny. Dolly she watches him closely to learn about doggy ways, which is helping her come along nicely with house training. She lives with two young children, 4 and 6-years old, and adores them, and is now deciding that the two cats in the house might be fun new playmates as well. As her confidence and sense of safety grow, Dolly is getting more and more secure in meeting new people and dogs. She'd be perfect in any type of household where her tiny size is cherished and respected. Dolly and Donny are a wonderful pair together and excellent 'siblings' maybe your home might have room for two great pups as we think Dolly will surely flourish in her growth and training in a home with a buddy like Donny. If you'd like to meet, please visit www.TheRescuedDog.org and fill out an adoption application to make a date with Dolly or Donny or both. show less
