When TRD rescued Dolly, we knew she was pregnant. What we didn't know was that Dolly was pregnant with 7 puppies! We named her adorable pups after some of our favorite country stars. Now 8 weeks old as of mid-November, Dolly's pups are happy, heathy, and ready for their forever families. Dolly is a blonde beagle mix, and all of her puppies have her pretty blonde coat with white markings. Some of the pups are more leggy than others. Corey, for instance, has adorably short, stubby legs, as does his sister Lady. Compared to the rest of his litter mates, Corey is a bit on the shyer side. He does like to play with his canine brothers and sisters. Corey is generally a mellow puppy, and very sweet. Dolly is about 18 pounds and we believe that all of her pups, including Corey, will be around that size too. If you would like to meet Corey or any of Dolly's puppies, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Adorable Phoebe is a great little dog with nice natural manners and an eagerness to learn and please her people. Phoebe loves cuddling and watching TV with her people. She gets funny bursts of energy which remind her human friends that she may still have a little puppy left in her. She is 1.5 years old as of November 2016 so that makes sense! Phoebe also likes a good walk and is nicely behaved on the leash, although she is sometimes unsure what to do when people she doesn't know pass her by. She needs nice, slow introductions with new people in general, and then she is a real love bug. Phoebe's foster reports that Phoebe quickly took to crate training and is very well behaved in her crate. Phoebe is learning some basic commands like sit, and would love to learn more with her new forever family. At about 12 pounds, Phoebe is full grown and a great size for almost any living situation. If you would like to meet Phoebe, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption counselor will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Foxy is an adorable pug who came to TRD when her owners could no longer care for her. She arrived with her brother Butters. Although they do not have to be adopted out together, they have lived with each other their whole lives and would enjoy the right kind of canine companion. According to Foxy's foster family, Foxy is a typical pug--sassy, spunky, and snorty. She is about 5 years old as of November 2016, making her perfect for a family looking for a dog beyond the puppy stage but one who still has plenty of adventures ahead of her. She is an affectionate cuddler and loves to lay on her back in your arms. She is good with dogs but can be a little bossy with other female pups. She currently lives in a home with one canine foster brother of similar size and is always by his side. She rarely barks but makes up for it in snorts and grunts. If you find a snoring dog adorable, Foxy just might be the gal for you! Foxy is crate trained but would gladly jump in your bed to sleep if invited. She is a big lover and will make a loyal companion to her human parents and canine brothers or sisters. Foxy likes to go on walks and is still trying to figure out the leash that seems to follow her wherever she goes. She does not pull but has a tendency to get turned around and tangled up from time to time. When out and about, Foxy is not reactive toward people or dogs but she is cautious when approaching strangers. Foxy is working on some basic commands, and proving that you CAN teach an older dog new tricks! She is eager to learn when it involves treats but (like most pugs) she requires patience and lots of love as her attention span can be a bit short. If you are looking for a hilarious character to fill out your pack, fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Foxy! show less

Named for the Goddess of Wisdom,8-month-old Minnie (Minerva) is a huge bundle of joy. She likes to wrestle with her foster sister and loves her toys! She also likes belly scratches, head scratches, and back scratches, and will reward you with kisses. She is house trained, crate trained, and good with other dogs and children. Minnie is a mix of Great Dane and Belgian Shepherd, with all the smarts of those breeds. At 55 pounds, she is already a large dog, and has the potential to be 70-75 pounds when full-grown. This is not a dog for an apartment dweller. If you have room in your heart and your home for a big dog, she may be the one for you. You can meet Minnie by filling out an application on the TRD website. show less

Are you looking for the right balance of sweetness and spunk in your next canine family member? Meet Aya! Aya is an adorable Yorkie-schnauzer mix who enjoys lots of love with a little adventure thrown in. Aya is about 9 months old as of October 2016, and her foster family reports that she loves a good run, walk, and romp at Fiesta Island or the dog park. Aya is very social with other dogs and wouldn't mind a canine sibling, although she currently lives in a foster home where she is the only dog and seems to be fine with that. Her foster dad has started running with her and he reports that she loves it! When she's walking, Aya needs a little help with her leash manners. It is a skill she will master with a little work from her new forever family. When the action is over, Aya loves a good snuggle and it content just being with her people. Aya is about 15 pounds as of October 2016, so she might put on just a few more pounds before she is full grown. If you are looking for the right combination of fun and affection, fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Aya! show less

Are you looking for an adorable ray of sunshine in your life? Meet Sunshine, affectionately known as Sunny. Sunshine came to TRD from San Bernardino in March 2016. At two months old, Sunny had already had a rough life. We don't know how it happened, but when we picked up Sunny from the shelter, his right front foot was broken. He was also displaying some insecure behaviors, no doubt a result of his rough beginnings. After 5 months of healing, rehab, and training with our resident trainer, we are happy to say that Sunny is happy and healthy and ready for his forever home. Sunny benefits greatly from socializing with other confident dogs. His foster family brings him to the dog park and the beach to make sure he continues to have positive interactions with new canine friends. He is also fun and friendly with his foster's resident dogs. Sunny loves to play fetch and has learned to drop on command. He is a smart little guy who has also picked up several other commands, including sit, come, off, and heel. Sunny is still working on his leash manners and will need a family who is willing to continue the leash training he has already received. Because of Sunny's sensitive nature, we think he will do best with a family that lives in a suburb or in a part of the city that is a little more calm and quiet, and less stimulating than a more urban neighborhood. We have enjoyed watching Sunny go from an injured and unsure little puppy to a healthy and independent "teen". He will need a family who will continue to foster his confidence. Sunny is a fun dog with the tenacity of a jack russell and the goofiness of a corgi. He will make the right forever family very happy! Sunny is about 28 pounds at 10 months old (as of October 2016) and we predict that he may put on a pound or two more before he is full grown. If you would like to meet Sunny, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Short on leg, but long on love! Meet Kisses, a Border Collie and Springer Spaniel mix, who is about 3 months old and weighs in at 12 pounds as of October 2016. (We estimate that she will be in the 30 to 40 pound range full grown.) Her little puppy face becomes joyful just seeing someone she knows. Through proper assurances, she is courageously coming out of her sensitive shell. With patience and kindness, she quickly shows her true nature and enjoys lots of attention. She is ideal for a family who will properly socialize and train this gentle and sweet puppy. She is fond of all toys and loves playing with other dogs. She is crate-trained and almost housebroken. Kisses needs to work on guarding her food. This is a behavior that is easily discouraged with proper training. TRD will provide a complimentary session with our trainer to get Kisses and her new family on the right track. Kisses will make a great companion for a family with or without children or other pets. She is an absolutely easy going, lovely, soft-natured girl, so please fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Kisses! show less

Are you looking for a pint-sized lover to warm you lap and steal your heart? Meet Lorenzo! Lorenzo came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. This 5-pound charmer has all the confidence of a big dog in a conveniently small package! Lorenzo is a happy, fun little guy. According to his foster mom, Lorenzo love walks. He marches and struts with confidence, and doesn't miss the opportunity to say hello to everyone and anyone he meets, both human and canine. He is quite the social butterfly on his walks, so they sometimes take a little longer than you'd expect! Lorenzo is not much of a barker, except when he's trying to get his canine foster brother to play. At a year and a half old as of October 2016, Lorenzo is full grown, house trained, and crate trained. Because of his small stature, we recommend that Lorenzo be placed in a home with older, respectful children and people who are sensitive to his diminutive size. If you are looking for a fun little lover of a dog, fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Lorenzo! show less

Meet Ralphie, a playful, cuddly puppy looking for his forever home. Ralphie is good with other dogs and with cats. He has not been around children yet. He is a social butterfly and meets everyone and every dog with exuberance on his walks. Of course, he has the usual puppy habits, but these can be easily corrected with training. He is working on his house training and is almost crate trained. At 21 weeks old, Ralphie weighs about 14 pounds and will probably be about twice that weight when full grown. This little love bug can become the newest member of your family. Just fill out and application on the TRD website to meet him. An adoption counselor will be in touch! show less

Cara is a beautiful maltipoo who has great manners in spite of her tough start. Cara came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Cara's foster family reports that Cara learned her name and also the "sit" command in the first day in her foster home. She is smart, sweet, and ready to learn whatever her new forever family wants to teach her. Cara is 9 months old as of October 2016, which is the perfect age to settle into life with her new forever family. Cara weighs in at 22 pounds, and we don't think she will grow too much more. Cara currently lives with other dogs and gets along great with everyone. Cara has a little pep in her step and loves a good walk. She also enjoys a good romp at the park with her canine buddies. She's a great mix of sweetness and spunk. If you would like to meet Cara, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Are you looking for a high-spirited tail-wagger? Well, look no further. Hershey, a mix of Border Collie and Springer Spaniel, is about 3 months old and weighs in at 15 pounds as of October 2016. We expect Hershey to be in the 35 to 50 pound range when full grown. He is no couch potato and has an intense desire to be worked and to play, play, play! He possesses unlimited puppy energy and stamina. He strives on mental and physical stimulation and will be best suited with an active family. Hershey gets along incredibly well with children and other pets. He has a blast playing tug games and making up chase games with his foster siblings. Hershey clearly shows focus, intensity, and speed during playtime. He would be a great candidate for agility or frisbee games! Hershey is crate-trained and housebroken. He also looks upon a person for guidance and will bond quickly with anyone. He is a delightfully confident dog, which coupled with his intelligence and tractable nature makes him easy to train. If you are looking for puppy love and kisses, please fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Hershey! show less

Say hello to Gunther, a handsome two-and-a-half-year-old Malinois perfect for a family who loves and respects shepherd dogs. Gunther is a quintessential Malinois. He is loyal, smart, calm, and connected to his people. These large, energetic dogs need a firm hand and loads of exercise. Gunther's current exercise regimen includes playing in the yard with his canine foster siblings. Gunther does well on leash and will appreciate an active family who will take him on walks and hikes. In the home, Gunther is calm and respectful. He lives with a younger child and does well with him, but due to Gunther's large size and residual puppy-like gangly-ness, we recommend he be placed with a family with children 8 and older. Like many breeds of herding dogs, Malinoises can be insistent about protecting their family flock and Gunther is no exception. He is a careful watcher of his human friends. Gunther is well-socialized and gets along great with all members of his foster family, including the toddler, a cat, and other dogs. He is housebroken and crate trained. He weighs about 65 pounds and is probably close to his maximum weight and size. If you love shepherds, you and Gunther may be perfect for each other. You can meet him by filling out an adoption application on the TRD website. One of our adoption coordinators will contact you to arrange a meet-up. show less

Meet Charlie, a 13-week-old border collie/springer spaniel mix. Charlie loves belly rubs and being the center of attention. His favorite sport right now is Wrestlemania, which he stars in with brother Storm. Like any good puppy, he is working on leash manners and house training. Charlie will be a medium-sized dog (between 30 and 50 pounds) when he is full grown. Right now he thinks he is a lap dog. Based on his lineage, Charlie will grow up to be an energetic and smart dog that will need a lot of exercise and stimulation. He will soak up all the love and affection you shower on him. Yes, he is a perfect Storm. This 13-week-old border collie/springer spaniel mix enjoys wrestling with his brother, Charlie, and spending time hanging out with his people. He is a calm and affectionate guy, with the usual puppy bad habit of chewing things he is not supposed to chew! He is working on his leash manners and on being fully house-broken. Storm will be a medium-sized dog (between 30 and 50 pounds) when he is full grown. Border collies and springers are energetic dogs who need a lot of exercise, so Storm would love a family who can take him on long walks and provide enough attention and activity to keep him from getting bored. Please fill out an application on the TRD website if you would like to meet Storm. show less

Mingus is a fun and friendly Great Dane-hound mix looking for a fun and active family who will appreciate his goofy personality and his lanky limbs! Mingus came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. Mingus is about 5 months old as of September 2016 and weighs in at around 45 pounds. For a big dog, that means he might double in size by the time he's full grown. If you are a fan of the big dogs, check out Mingus! Mingus is a very friendly guy with both humans and canines. He is still new to walking on a leash, but he has a good start on his leash manners and will be fun and easy to continue to train. Mingus' foster family reports that he is very friendly with all dogs, kids, and adults. He is an energetic, playful, loving guy who is impossible to resist. Mingus is at a great age to start basic training with his forever family, and given his growth potential, his new family will definitely want to make sure this guy gets some solid training under his belt. He's already got a good start and is naturally polite and obedient. While he still displays some typical puppy behaviors, he is easily corrected and really just wants to make his people happy. Mingus is house trained. If you are looking for a friendly guy to join you on all of life's adventures, fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Mingus! show less
