Meet Percy the pug! Percy came to TRD from Humane Society of Imperial County, where unfortunately she was diagnosed with severe demodex mange. Our friends at HSOIC knew that Percy would get the TLC she needed with us, and asked us to take her on. How could we say no to such a face? Percy has been a real trooper throughout her treatment. She is now demodex free, has made a full recovery from her skin issues, and is ready to roll on to her forever life. Percy is the quintessential pug. She loves people and other dogs, happily greeting them with snorts, snuffles, and grunts. She has a a sweet, comical, and charming personality and always wants to be with her people. She also loves her canine foster brother, and enjoys playtime with him. Percy walks well on a leash but will pull occasionally when excited. She would benefit from a basic obedience class to continue to gain confidence and learn commands. Also typical of a pug, Percy wears out quickly and after a little action, there is no place she'd rather be than on the couch with (or even better, in the lap of!) her human. She's a real cuddle bug. Percy is working hard on her potty training with her foster family. At 8 months old as of June 2016, Percy weighs in at 16 pounds and should not get too much bigger. Are you looking to round out your pack with a sweet and silly pug? Please fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Percy! show less

Sweet little Snoopy came to TRD when her previous owners posted her on a pet page in El Centro to give her away. TRD supporters spotted the post and knew Snoopy was headed for trouble. We snatched her up just in time and brought her to San Diego, where we soon discovered that Snoopy had parvo. (We suspect her former owners knew she was sick and were trying to avoid dealing with her medical issues.) Thanks to the great care of our vets and Snoopy's foster, Snoopy got the medical attention and the TLC she needed. Now Snoopy is healthy and ready to find her forever family. Snoopy is fun, social, and, let's face it, completely adorable. At about 4 months old as of May 2016, Snoopy is a great age to start her forever life with her new family. Snoopy weighs in at about 6 pounds as of May 2016, and we don't expect this petite pooch to get bigger than 15 pounds. Snoopy is already house trained, and is almost completely crate trained too. Snoopy loves to snuggle and has some serious lap warming potential! Her foster mom reports that while she is not clingy, she is very sweet and affectionate. In a lot of ways, Snoopy is a typical puppy. She gets the "zoomies" a couple of times a day, wearing herself out running around, and then crashes for a nap. Snoopy is also a little unsure on the leash. When she forgets it is there, she does great, but when she remembers she is leashed, she gets nervous. This is not surprising considering that up until her time with TRD, she probably was never on leash. With a little patience and lots of practice with her new family, we are confident Snoopy will overcome her leash apprehension quickly. And she will reward you with her undying love and adorable company! If you would like to meet Snoopy, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Sweet and silly Spot came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. This adorable 6 month-old puppy is very connected to her human friends and very sensitive and responsive to training. She is a sweet girl with her people and looks to them for leadership and love. Spot walks nicely on the leash and enjoys a good game of fetch. Spot will keep you smiling for days with her silly antics, playful demeanor and goofy faces. When she first arrived to TRD, Spot was insecure about meeting new dogs, especially larger dogs. Lucky for Spot, her foster dad is a trainer and with careful training, care, and patience, Spot has grown into a more confident dog. She will greatly benefit from continued reinforcement of the skills she has learned so far with us. Spot currently lives with other dogs and has fun playing with her canine foster siblings. With proper introductions and positive reinforcement training, Spot would be happy in a home with another playful dog or active owner. This little diamond in the ruff weighs in at about 35 pounds at 6 months old. We estimate that she will be in the 50 to 60 pound range when fully grown. Spot is a beautiful, loving girl who deserves the very best home. Are you looking for a sweet and sporty girl to join your pack? Fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Spot! show less

Handsome Rex is a diamond in the "ruff". Unfortunately for Rex, his family adopted him as a puppy and quickly realized that members of the family were allergic to him, so they kept him in their backyard, where he languished. He had no walks or playtime with his people, and over time he developed terrible ear infections. Eventually, his family posted him on a website for free pets, and a fellow rescuer spotted him and asked us to take him in before he fell into the wrong hands. It was impossible to resist this sweet and handsome guy, and we wanted to make sure that he got the life he deserved. Rex is now safe with a TRD foster family, healthy and happy, and learning the (nicer) ways of the world for the first time. Considering his tough start, Rex really is a gem. He already has picked up on several commands, including sit and waiting to be given permission to exit doors. He loves to play fetch with his human friends, and true to his breed, he loves playing in water. Just turning on the hose is enough to make Rex happy! Rex has also taken to crate training and sleeps in his crate at night. Despite his backyard life, Rex appears to be house trained as well. His foster mom reports that he is working on his leash manners and doing very well. He responds well to corrections when he pulls. Despite his poor treatment from humans in his early days, Rex is very interested in and friendly with people. He is also good with other dogs and children, although given his size and energy, Rex would do best with older children. Rex weighs in at 75 pounds. He is a year and a half old as of April 2016. Rex is ready and willing to work on basic training with his new forever family. This sweet guy will work for treats! And for love. Training with Rex will be fun and rewarding. If you are looking for a handsome and loving buddy to join your family, please fill out an application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet. show less

Cute and cuddly Katie is a sweet little boxer pup looking for a fun and active forever family. Katie came to us when her previous owners couldn't care for her anymore. We quickly discovered that Katie had a tough case of mange, and it took us several weeks to clear it up. Now Katie is happy and healthy and ready for some fun! Katie is 8 months old as of early May 2016, and she has a lot of puppy energy, which she loves to expend by playing with her canine foster siblings. Katie gets along great with other dogs, and would love to be in a home with another dog so she can burn off some of her energy playing! She would do fine as a solo dog too, as long as she gets plenty of opportunity to run, hike, walk, and socialize with other dogs. Katie will be a great exercise partner for an active person. Once she's gotten her exercise in, Katie is a great snuggler and couch companion. She is a loving girl who is ready to shower affection on her forever person. Katie is also very smart, and already has several commands under her belt, including sit, down, off, and name recall. She is also crate trained. Katie also loves a good game of fetch and is ready to learn more! Katie will thrive with a family ready to teach her more and show her the ways of the world. Katie weighs in at about 38 pounds as of early May 2016, and we expect that she will fill out just a little more by the time she is full grown. Are you looking for a fun-loving, intelligent love of a dog to join you on all of life's adventures? Fill out an application on the TRD website to meet Katie! show less
