Loretta is a dog of a different color! This stunning Australian cattle dog/Australian shepherd blend has one of the most unique colorings and markings we have ever seen. She gets compliments everywhere she goes, and with her friendly personality she has made a lot of friends in her short time with us. Loretta absolutely loves the dog park where she can stretch her legs and get her running in, and loves to play with other dogs. Her favorite game is wrestling as well as stealing the other dogs' toys and parading around with them. She walks well on the leash and is extremely food motivated: in her short time with her foster she has almost mastered sit, shake, and down. Loretta is definitely an active, smart dog, and would thrive with a family or with other dogs. Although good with kids, she does have a very strong herding instinct and will softly mouth when she plays and gets excited. Because of this we would recommend a house with older children or adults. Loretta is totally housebroken and does her business quickly when taken out for potty time. She has spent time at 24 Hour Dog Daycare and did amazingly well - everyone there loves her. She integrates well with other dogs and doesn't have a problem with other people taking care of her. She is crate trained and often goes in on her own to sleep. Her foster has been letting her sleep outside the crate in the room, and she has been on her best behavior. She sleeps through the night, and even lets her foster mom sleep in! She also loves to play with her toys and chew her nylabone. She much prefers to settle down with a Kong or Nylabone rather than steal socks or shoes, which is a great plus! Spunk, sweetness, good looks: Chip has it all! Chip Skippy, as he is affectionately known, was found running around in the desert. He was picked up by a Good Samaritan, who delivered him to The Rescued Dog. Considering his rough start, Chip has a great positive spirit and an amazing attitude towards new dogs and new people, including children. He is social and fun, and has yet to meet a pooch or a person he doesn't instantly consider his friend. He is great at the park and the beach, and would be well-behaved in any social setting. "Sporty" isn't usually the first word that comes to mind when referring to smaller poodle mixes, but it describes Chip Skippy perfectly. He loves to play fetch and romp around with his friends. We aren't sure what he's mixed with, but whatever it is gives him a little extra length in his legs, and an extra dose of cuteness everywhere else! Chip weighs in at around 15 pounds, which is a great size for almost any living situation. He is about 1 year old as of April 2014. Chip is crate trained and house trained, and has picked up some basic commands in just a few weeks with his foster family. He is in great shape for his forever family! If you are interested in meeting Chip Skippy, please fill out an application at: http://therescueddog.org/available-dogs/dog-adoption-application/. Chip looks forward to meeting you! show less

When we say there is something special about Tiffy, we mean it. This young girl was adopted from a local shelter and returned a day later for being "too fearful." Luckily, The Rescued Dog was able to save Tiffy and begin the training that she deserves. Tiffy has proved to be a valuable asset in her foster home, as she recently alerted her foster parents that another dog was seizing in his kennel in the middle of the night. Because of Tiffy, the foster parents were able to get the other dog to an emergency hospital. Tiffy is still a little unsure about new places and people, so her training to overcome that will need to be continued as she grows. Tiffy walks well on a leash and is affectionate with her foster parents and those she has learned to trust. Tiffy truly has blossomed from the fearful puppy she started out as. At about 5-6 months old, Tiffy is at a perfect age to transition into a new forever home. To ensure she is set up for success, Tiffy will come with two in-home training sessions with our trainer. She loves the company of other dogs and enjoys trips to dog parks. Tiffy loves to play with toys and is very food motivated. She is crate trained and is currently working on potty training (80% there). At around 10 months old, Cyrus is just starting to figure out what a life of love, comfort, and warmth is all about. He and his brother, Kobe, were living outside their entire lives and were shelter-bound pups if we hadn't stepped in. Covered (and boy do we mean COVERED) in fleas and ticks, these two brothers made the trek from Riverside to San Diego just after the 4th of July. Once in San Diego, they received not one, but two baths to try to rid them of the fleas and ticks that consumed their small bodies. Fast forward a few days later (and many combings/brushings/baths later), and these two lovebugs are flea and tick free!! All the while, Cyrus and Kobe had fantastic attitudes and didn't mind being poked and prodded by numerous people - talk about troopers! Cyrus is slightly larger than Kobe at just over 12lbs, but those short dachshund legs and long body make him a solid 12lb pup. He loves to have his tummy and face rubbed and he'll give you sweet kisses to thank you for doing so. He's been friendly with everyone he's met so far - kids, men, women, big and little dogs, you name it! His foster mom reports only one accident in the house, which is amazing considering he's lived his entire life outdoors so far. Cyrus is also a perfect gentleman in his crate when he's home alone. He loves long walks around the neighborhood and hasn't chewed on a single thing that's not a toy. We can't forget the obvious with Cyrus - he is beyond adorable! If you'd like to welcome this fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, sweet-as-pie pooch into your home, please fill out an Adoption Application! show less

He absolutely loves attention from both humans and canines alike and fell asleep on numerous grooming occasions. In the mornings, Kobe likes to race up and down the hall and around the living and dining rooms of his foster home! It's a hoot to watch and starts the day off with a smile :) If you'd like to welcome this fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, sweet-as-pie pooch into your home, please fill out an Adoption Application! show less
